¹ Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not you my work in the Lord? ² If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye. ³ Mine answer to them that do examine me, is this, ⁴ Have we not power to eat and to drink? ⁵ Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? ⁶ Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working? ⁷ Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth and drinketh not the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of its milk? ⁸ Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? ⁹ For it is written, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? ¹⁰ Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? for our sakes, no doubt, it is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope, should be partaker of his hope. ¹¹ If we have sown unto you spiritual things, [is it] a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? ¹² If others be partakers of power over you, [are] not we rather? Nevertheless, we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. ¹³ Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things, live of the things of the temple? and they who wait at the altar, are partakers with the altar? ¹⁴ Even so hath the Lord ordained, that they who preach the gospel, should live of the gospel. ¹⁵ But I have used none of there things. Neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for [it were] better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void. ¹⁶ For if I should preach the gospel, I have no thanks for it: for necessity is laid upon me; For, wo is unto me, if I preach not the gospel. ¹⁷ For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation is committed unto me. ¹⁸ What is my reward then? verily that when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. ¹⁹ For though I be free from all men, yet have I made my self servant unto all, that I might gain the more. ²⁰ And unto the Jews, I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as not being my self under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain them that are without law. ²² To the weak became I weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save all men. ²³ And I do all things for the gospels sake, that I might be partaker thereof with [you]. ²⁴ Know ye not that they who run in a race, run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain. ²⁵ And every one that striveth for the mastery, is temperate in all things: Now, they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ I therefore so run, not as uncertainly: so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: ²⁷ But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means when I have preached to others, I my self should be a castaway.

³ And as he journeyed he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shone round about him a light from heaven.

⁵ Who said, Who art thou, Lord? And he [said,] I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [It] [is] hard for thee to kick against the goads.

¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.

¹⁷ And Ananias went away and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord hath sent me, Jesus that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

² As they ministred to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul, for the work whereunto I have called them.

⁴ But the multitude of the city was divided: and some held with the Jews, and others with the apostles.

¹⁴ When Barnabas and Paul heard it, they rent their clothes, and ran out to the multitude, crying,

¹⁷ She followed Paul, and us,and cried, saying, These are the servants of the most high God, who preach unto you the way of salvation. ¹⁸ And this did she many days. But Paul turned to the spirit, and being grieved said, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out immediately.

⁸ And Crispus the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house: and many of the Corinthians hearing, believed, and were baptized, believing on God, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ And the Lord spake to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: ¹⁰ For I am with thee, and no man shall set [on thee],to hurt thee: for I have much people In this city. ¹¹ And he continued in Corinth a year and six months, teaching them the word of God.

⁶ As I was come nigh unto Damascus, about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. ⁷ And I fell unto the ground and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? ⁸ And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? But he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth whom thou persecutest.

¹⁴ And he said to me, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that just one, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. ¹⁵ For thou shalt be his witness unto all men, of what thou hast seen and heard. ¹⁶ And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on his name. ¹⁷ And it came to pass, that when I wascome again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; ¹⁸ And saw him saying unto me, Make haste and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. ¹⁹ And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned, and beat in the synagogues them that believed on thee. ²⁰ And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I was standing by, and consenting, and kept the raiment of them that slew him. ²¹ And he said unto me, Depart: for I send thee far unto the Gentiles.

¹¹ And the night following, the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

¹⁶ But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; ¹⁷ Delivering thee from the people, and the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, ¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn [them] from darkness to light, and[from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me.

¹ PAUL a servant of Jesus Christ, the called apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

⁵ By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for his name:

¹³ For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am an apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

¹ PAUL an apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes a brother,

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase.

¹⁴ I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn [you]. ¹⁵ For though you have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

² If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye. ³ Mine answer to them that do examine me, is this,

¹⁹ For though I be free from all men, yet have I made my self servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

⁸ And last of all, he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

¹ We fellow-workers exhorting you, Receive not the grace of God in vain:

⁵ For I suppose I have not been among you a whit behind the very chief apostles.

¹¹ I am become a fool; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chief apostles, though I be nothing. ¹² Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

¹ PAUL an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead,

¹⁵ But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mothers womb, and called [me] by his grace, ¹⁶ To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: ¹⁷ Neither went I up to Jerusalem, to them who were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

⁷ But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as that of the circumcision was unto Peter; ⁸ For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me towards the Gentiles.

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and e not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

⁶ Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensom, as the apostles of Christ. ⁷ Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, I speak the truth, I lie not, a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

¹¹ Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

¹ PAUL a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth, which is after godliness: ² In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before eternal ages; ³ But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me, according to the commandment of God our Saviour:

²⁷ Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto eternal life, which the Son of man giveth unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

¹ Do we begin again to commend our selves? or need we, as some, commendatory epistles to you, or commendatory [ones] from you? ² Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men. ³ Ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ, ministred by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart:

¹² Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

¹ Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye the defence which I make now unto you.

¹⁶ To whom Ianswered, it is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he who is accused, have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crimes laid against him,

³⁷ Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

⁷ Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself, that he is Christ's servant, let him of himself think this again, that as he [is] Christ's even so [are] we Christ's. ⁸ For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which God hath given for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

¹⁶ But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. ¹⁷ Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you? ¹⁸ I desired Titus, and with [him] I sent a brother: did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? not in the same steps? ¹⁹ Again, think you that we excuse our selves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but all things, dearly beloved, [are] for your edifying.

³ Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

⁵ Examine your selves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: know ye not your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

¹⁰ Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present, I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

⁷ Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace,

¹⁷ The other preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds;

¹⁶ At my first Apology no man stod with me, but all men forsook me: may it not be laid to their charge.

¹⁰ Nor bag for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor a staff: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

⁷ But in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

⁶ Let him that is taught in the word, communicate unto him that teacheth in all [his] goods.

⁹ For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

⁸ Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travel night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you; ⁹ Not because we have not power, but to make our selves an ensample unto you, to follow us.

¹⁷ Let the elders that rule well, be counted worthy of double maintenance, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. ¹⁸ For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn: and, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.

¹⁴ And when Jesus was come into Peters house, he saw his wifes mother laid, and sick of a fever.

⁴⁶ But while he talked to the people, behold his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak with him. ⁴⁷ Then one said unto him, Behold thy mother and thy brethren have stood without, seeking to speak with thee. ⁴⁸ But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? or who are my brethren? ⁴⁹ And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren. ⁵⁰ For whosoever does the will of my Father who is in the heavens, the same is my brother, and father, and mother.

⁵⁵ Is not this the carpenters son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and John, and Simon, and Judas?

³⁰ But Simons wifes mother lay sick of a fever, and presently they tell him of her.

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judas and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were scandalized at him.

¹⁵ And Matthew, and Thomas, who was also called Didymus; and James [the son] of Alpheus, and Simon called Zelotes,

⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is interpreted a Rock.

¹² After this, he went down to Capharnaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples, and they continued there not many days.

¹⁴ These all continued with one accord in prayer, with the women, and children, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brethren.

¹ I commend unto you Phebe our sister, who is a deaconess of the church which is at Cenchrea:

¹² Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

⁷ But I would that all men were even as I my self: but every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

¹⁵ But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace.

³⁹ The wife is bound as long as her husband liveth: but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

¹⁹ But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

³ Forbidding to marry, [commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them who believe and know his truth.

² the elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with all purity.

⁶ If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of riot, or unruly.

⁴ Let marriage be honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: for whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

³⁶ And Joseph, who by the apostles was sirnamed Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation) of the Country of Cyprus, a Levite.

²² But the report of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.

¹ Now there were in the the church that was at Antioch, prophets and teachers; among whom was Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, who had been brought up with Herod also the tetrarch, and Saul. ² As they ministred to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul, for the work whereunto I have called them.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised affliction and persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled then out of their coasts.

¹² Now they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercury, because he was the chief speaker.

³⁶ And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let as return and visit the brethren in every city among whom we have preached the word of the Lord, [and see] how they do. ³⁷ But Barnabas had a mind to take with them John, whose sirname was Mark.

³ And because he [was] of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought.

³⁴ You your selves know, that my hands have ministred unto my necessities, and to all them that were with me. ³⁵ I have shewed you every thing, that so labouring ye ought to support the weak; and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹¹ Even unto this present hour, we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place; ¹² And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless: being persecuted, we suffer it:

⁷ For your selves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not our selves disorderly among you,

¹⁵ When therefore they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon [son] of John, lovest thou me more that these? Jesus (Read: Peter) saith unto him, Yes, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁶ the Lord saith to him the second time, Simon [son] of John, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yes, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁷ He saith unto him the third time, Simon [son] of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Lord, thou knowest all men; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then, neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth: but God that giveth the increase. ⁸ Now he that planteth, and he that watereth, are one: and every man shall receive his own reward, according to his own labour.

⁴ For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. ⁵ Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth it self against the knowledge of God, and captivating every thought, and bringing it unto the obedience of Christ:

¹⁸ This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare,

¹² Fight the good fight of faith, lay bold on eternal life, whereunto thou art called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

³ Thou therefore endure hardness with [them], as a good fellow-soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No man that warreth, entangleth himself with the affairs of life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

² Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight not by constraint, but willingly according to God, not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

³¹ Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

¹⁹ I speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity, unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness, unto holiness.

⁴⁰ But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the spirit of God.

³⁴ What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

¹³ For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

⁸ He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God; who hath also given unto you his holy Sprit.

²⁶ Behold the fowls of heaven: for they sow not, nether do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? ²⁷ Which of you by being sollicitous can add one cubit unto his stature? ²⁸ And why are ye sollicitous for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither dothey spin. ²⁹ And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory, was not arayed like one of these. ³⁰ Wherefore if God so clothe the grass of the field which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more do so to you, O ye of little faith?

²⁴ Consider the fowls of heaven: for they neither sow, nor reap: which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: Are ye not better than the fowls? ²⁵ And which of you can add to his stature a cubit? ²⁶ And why are ye sollicitous for the rest? ²⁷ Consider the lilies: They neither spin, nor weave: and yet I say unto you, that neither was Solomon in all his glory, arayed like one of these. ²⁸ If then God so clothe the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven: how much more you, O ye of little faith?

¹⁸ For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn: and, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.

²² And except those days should be shortned, there shall no flesh escape: but for the elects sake those days shall be shortned.

⁷ But which of you having a servant plowing, or seeding, when he is come from the field, will he say presently unto him, Go and sit down? ⁸ But he will say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thy self, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward eat and drink?

³⁵ Say not ye, There are four months, and then [cometh] harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are already white to harvest. ³⁶ He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth, and he that reapeth may rejoyce together. ³⁷ And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. ³⁸ I sent you to reap: Ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entred into their labours.

²³ Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him for righteousness. ²⁴ But for us also to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,

⁴ For whatsoever things were written, were written for our learning; that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

⁹ For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, God's building.

¹⁵ For all things [are] for your sakes, that the abundant grace, might, through the thanksgiving of many, redound to the glory of God.

⁶ The husbandman labouring first, must be partaker of the fruits.

²⁷ And their debters they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.

¹⁵ [It is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

⁵² Wo unto you lawyers: for ye have hidden the key of knowledge: and ye entred not in your selves, and them that were entring in, ye hindred.

³¹ Therefore watch, and remember that for three years night and day I ceased not to warn every one of you with tears. ³² And now, I commend you to the Lord, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give [you] an inheritance among all them who are sanctified. ³³ I have coveted the silver, and gold, or apparel of none of you. ³⁴ You your selves know, that my hands have ministred unto my necessities, and to all them that were with me.

²² For which cause also I have been much hindred from coming to you.

⁷ Now there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another: why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer your selves to be defrauded?

² If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye.

¹⁵ But I have used none of there things. Neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for [it were] better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

¹⁸ What is my reward then? verily that when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

³ Giving no offence in any thing, that our ministry be not blamed:

⁷ Have I committed an offence in abasing my self that you might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely? ⁸ I robbed other churches, taking wages, to do you service. ⁹ And when I was present with you and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me, the brethren who came from Macedonia, supplied: and in all things I have kept my self from being burdensom unto you, and will keep [my self]. ¹⁰ As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.

¹² But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion, that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

²⁰ For ye suffer it, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour [you], if a man take [of you], if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.

¹³ For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except that I my self was not burdensom to you? forgive me this wrong. ¹⁴ Behold, this third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensom to you; for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

⁶ Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensom, as the apostles of Christ. ⁷ But we were infants in the midst of you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: ⁸ So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. ⁹ For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

¹⁸ Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices, partakers of the altar?

⁴ Have we not power to eat and to drink?

⁶ But whoso shall afford scandal to one of these little ones who believe in me, it were better for him that a milstone were hanged about his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

³ And Saul made havock of the church, entring into every house, and haling men and women, committed [them] to prison.

²⁴ But this I do not value, neither count I my life dear unto my self, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry of the word, which word I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify to Jews and Gentiles the gospel of the grace of God.

³⁴ You your selves know, that my hands have ministred unto my necessities, and to all them that were with me.

¹² And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless: being persecuted, we suffer it:

¹² If others be partakers of power over you, [are] not we rather? Nevertheless, we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

⁹ And when I was present with you and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me, the brethren who came from Macedonia, supplied: and in all things I have kept my self from being burdensom unto you, and will keep [my self]. ¹⁰ As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia. ¹¹ Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth. ¹² But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion, that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

¹³ For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except that I my self was not burdensom to you? forgive me this wrong. ¹⁴ Behold, this third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensom to you; for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. ¹⁵ And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you: the more abundantly I love you, the less I [am] beloved. ¹⁶ But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. ¹⁷ Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you? ¹⁸ I desired Titus, and with [him] I sent a brother: did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? not in the same steps?

²⁰ According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. ²¹ For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain. ²² But whether I live in the flesh, this [is] worth my while; yet what I shall choose, I wot not. ²³ But I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

⁸ Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travel night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you;

⁶² But Jesus said unto him, No man looking back, and putting his hand to the plough, is fit for the kingdom of God.

²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and beard.

⁶ And he trembling and astonished, said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him. Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee there what thou must do.

¹⁶ But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; ¹⁷ Delivering thee from the people, and the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, ¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn [them] from darkness to light, and[from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me. ¹⁹ Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: ²⁰ But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent, and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

¹⁴ I am debter both to the Greeks, and to the barbarians, both to the wise, and to the unwise.

² For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath to glory, but not before God.

¹⁷ I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.

⁴¹ He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophets reward.

²⁵ Behold, I have told you before.

⁴² And the Lord said, Who then is that wise and good steward, whom [his] lord shall make ruler over his houshold, to give [them their] portion of meat in due season?

⁸ Now he that planteth, and he that watereth, are one: and every man shall receive his own reward, according to his own labour.

¹⁴ If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

¹ Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

¹⁶ For if I should preach the gospel, I have no thanks for it: for necessity is laid upon me; For, wo is unto me, if I preach not the gospel.

¹² For if there be first a willing mind, [it is] accepted according to that a man hath, not according to that he hath not.

⁷ But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as that of the circumcision was unto Peter;

² If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which is given me to you-ward: ³ How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote afore in few words, ⁴ Whereby when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ. ⁵ Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Holy Spirit; ⁶ That the Gentiles should be fellow-heirs; and of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ, by the gospel: ⁷ Whereof I have been made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me, by the effectual working of his power. ⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.

¹⁶ But one preach [Christ] of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. ¹⁷ The other preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds;

²⁵ Whereof I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given to me for you, fully to preach the word of God;

⁴ But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who trieth our hearts.

¹¹ Which is according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, that was committed to my trust. ¹² And I thank him who hath enabled me by Christ Jesus our Lord: for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; ¹³ Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecuter, and injurious. But I obtained mercy, for this cause, that I did [it] ignorantly, in unbelief: ¹⁴ But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.

² Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight not by constraint, but willingly according to God, not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; ³ Neither as being lords over the clergy; but being ensamples to the flock. ⁴ And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

¹⁵ For if thy brother be grieved with meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

³¹ And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

⁹ But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak.

⁶ Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working? ⁷ Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth and drinketh not the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of its milk?

³³ Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but that of many, that they may be saved.

⁵ For we preach not our selves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and our selves your servants for Jesus sake.

⁷ Have I committed an offence in abasing my self that you might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely? ⁸ I robbed other churches, taking wages, to do you service. ⁹ And when I was present with you and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me, the brethren who came from Macedonia, supplied: and in all things I have kept my self from being burdensom unto you, and will keep [my self].

¹⁵ But if thy brother shall sin against thee, go, tell him his fault between thee and him alone; if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

²⁶ It is not so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister. ²⁷ And whosoever will be chief among you, shall be your servant. ²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministred unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. But do you seek to increase from a little, and to be diminished from what is greater. However, when you are come and are desired to sup, do not you sit in the most eminent places, lest more honourable than thou come, and he that invited thee to supper come upon thee and say to thee, Go down still lower; and thou be put to confusion. But if thou sittest in a lower place, and one inferior to thee comes, he that invited thee will say to thee, Go and sit higher. For this will be to thy advantage.

¹⁴ If I then [your] Lord and Master, have washed your feet, how much more should ye do it: ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

¹⁴ If by any means I may provoke to emulation my flesh, and might save some of them.

² Let every one of us please [his] neighbour for good to edification.

¹⁶ For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save the husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save the wife or not?

¹ Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not you my work in the Lord?

²⁰ And unto the Jews, I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as not being my self under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain them that are without law. ²² To the weak became I weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save all men.

¹³ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion of the flesh, but by love of the Spirit serve one another.

¹⁶ Take heed unto thy self, and unto thy doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt save both thy self, and them that hear thee.

¹⁰ Therefore I endure all things for the elects sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

¹⁹ My brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; ²⁰ Let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

¹ Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives,

³ Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him, because of the Jews who were in those places: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

² And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, [and] three sabbaths reasoned with them out of the scriptures, ³ Opening and alledging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead: and that this Jesus whom I preach unto you is Christ.

¹⁸ And Paul tarried yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila: having shorn [his] head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

²⁰ And when they heard [it,] they glorified the Lord, saying, Thou seest, brother, how many ten-thousands in Judea there are who have believed, and they are all zealots of the law. ²¹ And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest the Jews who are among the Gentiles, to forsake Moses, not to circumcise [their] children, neither to walk after the customs. ²² What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together[:] for they will hear that thou art come. ²³ Do therefore this that we say to thee: we have four men which have a vow on them; ²⁴ Them take, and be purified thy self with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave [their] heads: and all will know that those things whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing, but thou thy self also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. ²⁵ As touching the Gentiles which have believed, they have nothing to say to thee, for we have written and determined, that they observe no such thing, save only, that they keep themselves from what is offered to idols, and from blood, and from fornication. ²⁶ Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them, entered into the temple, to signify the days in which the purification would be accomplished, that an offering might be offered for every one of them.

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

¹⁴ For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. ¹⁵ What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

⁵ To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons,

²¹ Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

¹⁸ But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

¹⁷ Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to perfect [them]. ¹⁸ For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be done. ¹⁹ Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: ²⁰ For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall by no means enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²⁸ For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no other burden than these necessary things;

⁴ And as they went through the cities, they preached and delivered to them the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness; and withal delivered the commands of the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem.

²⁵ As touching the Gentiles which have believed, they have nothing to say to thee, for we have written and determined, that they observe no such thing, save only, that they keep themselves from what is offered to idols, and from blood, and from fornication.

¹² For as many as have sinned without law, shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law,

¹⁴ For when the Gentiles who have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

²² For I delight in the law of God, after the inward man.

²⁵ The grace of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, with the mind I my self serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

⁴ That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit,

⁸ Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another, hath fulfilled the law. ⁹ For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self. ¹⁰ Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: And love [is] the fulfilling of the law.

¹⁹ Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. ²⁰ Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. ²¹ Art thou called a servant? care not for it; but if thou mayst be made free, use [it] rather. ²² For he that is called in the Lord, a servant, is the Lord's free-man: likewise also he that is called free, is Christ's servant.

³ But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: ⁴ And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

¹² For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew, and separated himself, fearing them who were of the circumcision. ¹³ And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they walked not uprightly, according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before all, If thou, a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, How compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

² This only would I learn of you, received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of Faith?

¹³ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion of the flesh, but by love of the Spirit serve one another. ¹⁴ For all the law is fulfilled in you in one word, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ²³ Meekness, temperance, chastity: against such there is no law.

¹ Children, obey your parents: for this is right. ² Honour thy father and mother, which is the first commandment, with promise, ³ That it may be well with thee, and thou mayst live long on the earth.

¹ Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort [you] by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how you ought to walk, and to please God, as you do walk, so ye would abound more and more. ² For ye know what commandments we delivered to you, by our Lord Jesus.

² That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience: ³ The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; ⁴ That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. ⁶ Young men likewise exhort to be sober-minded. ⁷ In all things shewing thy self a pattern of good works: in doctrine, gravity, sincerity, ⁸ Sound Speech that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part, may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us. ⁹ Ye servants be obedient unto your own masters, please them well in all things; not answering again, ¹⁰ Neither purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. ¹¹ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men: ¹² Teaching us, that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world;

¹⁰ For this [is] my covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

¹ We then that are strong, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please our selves.

¹³ Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

²⁹ Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?

¹ Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thy self, lest thy self also be tempted.

³⁵ For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose it for the gospels sake, the same shall save it.

²⁵ And every one that striveth for the mastery, is temperate in all things: Now, they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ I therefore so run, not as uncertainly: so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: ²⁷ But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means when I have preached to others, I my self should be a castaway.

⁴ For out of much affliction and anguish of heart, I wrote unto you with many tears; not that you should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. ⁵ We gave place by subjection, [no not] for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

¹ Wherefore, Holy Brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and high priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

¹⁴ For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

¹ The elders therefore who are among you I exhort, who am a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

³ That which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

²⁶ I therefore so run, not as uncertainly: so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

² And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them who were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run in vain.

⁷ Ye did run well, who did hinder you, that ye should not obey the truth?

¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

¹⁴ I press toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God in the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ Let no man beguile you of your reward, in a voluntary humility, and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath [[Read] not seen.] seen, vainly puft up by his fleshly mind;

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. ⁸ Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing.

¹ Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race which is set before us,

¹² Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which He hath promised to them that love him.

¹¹ I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

⁵⁴ So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

²³ Meekness, temperance, chastity: against such there is no law.

¹² For ye wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. ¹³ Wherefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day; and having done all, ¹⁴ Stand, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye are able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ Praying always, with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching unto him, always in supplication for all the saints;

⁵ And if a man also strive for masteries, he is not crowned except he strive lawfully.

⁸ But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, without passion;

² That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience:

⁴ For ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

²⁸ Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear.

⁴ To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

⁴ And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

⁶ And to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness;

¹⁰ Fear not those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and may have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

⁴ And round about the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and on their heads crowns of gold.

¹⁰ The twenty-four elders will fall down before him that sits on the throne, and will worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

¹² And from the days of John the Baptist, until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

²⁴ Strive to enter in at the strait door: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not find it.

⁹ So likewise you, except ye utter by the tongue agreeable words, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak unto the air.

¹ For we know, that if our earthly house of [this] tabernacle were dissolved, that we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁸ We are confident, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with God.

¹² For ye wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

²¹ For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.

²⁹ Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

¹² For the which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

¹ Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

¹⁰ Wherefore the rather, Brethren, give diligence that by your good works you may make your comfort and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall not fall:

²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens: but he that doeth the will of my father who is in the heavens, he shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens. ²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out dæmons? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ²³ And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me all ye that work iniquity.

²⁵ For what will it advantage a man to gain the whole world, and lose himself.

⁴⁵ But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants, and maidens, both eating, and drinking, and being drunken: ⁴⁶ His lord will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. ⁴⁷ And that servant who knew his lords will, but did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes.]

²⁶ Then shall ye begin to say, Lord, we have eat and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. ²⁷ And he shall say, I tell you, I never knew you: depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

²⁵ That he may take the place of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas fell, that he might go to his own place.

¹⁸ Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. ¹⁹ I speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity, unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness, unto holiness.

¹³ For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but is ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the flesh, ye shall live.

¹² All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. ¹³ Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body [is] not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

²⁵ And every one that striveth for the mastery, is temperate in all things: Now, they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

¹ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. ² And though I have prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have no charity, I am nothing. ³ And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

⁴ But in all things approving our selves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, ⁵ In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings,

²⁷ In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

⁵ Examine your selves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: know ye not your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? ⁶ But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, and uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

²² Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshy lusts, which war against the soul;

¹⁵ Who forsake the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam [the son] of Bosor,who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
