1 Peter 5:1 Cross References - Whiston

¹ The elders therefore who are among you I exhort, who am a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

⁴⁸ And ye are also witnesses of these things.

²⁶ But when the Comforter shall come, whom I will send unto you from my Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from my Father, he will testifie of me. ²⁷ And bear ye witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

⁸ But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

²² Beginning from the baptism of John, until the day that he was taken up from us, must one of these be appointed to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

³² This Jesus therefore hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

¹⁵ And killed the prince of life, whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

³⁰ But Peter said unto them. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, and hanged on a tree. ³¹ Him hath God exalted in glory, a Prince and a Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins in him. ³² And [we are his] witnesses of these things; and also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

³⁹ And we [are] his witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; and they slew [him,] and hanged [him] on a tree: ⁴⁰ Him God raised up the third day, and granted him to be made manifest: ⁴¹ Not to all the people, but to witnesses, chosen before of God, to us, who did eat and drink and converse with him after [he] arose from the dead forty days.

³⁰ Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

²³ And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

⁴ And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received honourably of the church, and of the apostles and of the elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

⁶ And the apostles and elders came together to consider of this matter.

²² Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas; Judas named Barabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren: ²³ And wrote a letter containing what follows. The apostles and elders, [and] brethren, send greeting unto the brethren of the Gentiles in Antioch, and Syria, and Cilicia.

¹⁷ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, for the elders of the church.

¹⁸ And the [day] following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were with him.

¹⁷ And if children, then fellow heirs; heirs of God, and fellow heirs with Christ: if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. ¹⁸ For I reckon, that the sufferings of this present time, [are] not comparable to the glory which shall be revealed in us.

¹ For we know, that if our earthly house of [this] tabernacle were dissolved, that we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁸ We are confident, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with God.

¹⁹ For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

²¹ For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain. ²² But whether I live in the flesh, this [is] worth my while; yet what I shall choose, I wot not. ²³ But I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

³ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ your life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

¹ Rebuke not an elder, but intreat [him] as a father, the younger men as brethren;

¹⁹ Against an elder receive not an accusation, unless it be upon two or three witnesses.

⁸ Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing.

⁵ For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee.

⁹ Yet for loves sake I rather beseech [thee], being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner.

³ Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, ⁵ Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁷ That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might befound unto praise, and honour, and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

¹² Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you they did minister the things which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you, by the Holy Ghost, sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

⁴ And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

² Beloved, we are now the Sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: We know, that when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

¹ THE elder unto the elect lady, and her children whom I love in the truth; But not I only, but also all they that have known the truth: ² For the truths sake which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever: ³ Grace, mercy, peace from God the Father, and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. ⁴ I rejoiced greatly, that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. ⁵ And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. ⁶ And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, that as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. ⁷ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. ⁸ Look to your selves, that ye lose not those things which ye have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward. ⁹ Whosoever goeth before, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the doctrine, he hath both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him good speed. ¹¹ For he that biddeth him good speed, is partaker of his evil deeds. ¹² Having many things to write unto you, I would not do it with paper and ink; but I hope to be with you, and speak mouth to mouth, that your joy may be full. ¹³ The children of thy elect sister greet thee.

¹ THE elder unto the well-beloved Gaius whom I love in the truth. ² Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayst prosper, and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. ³ For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. ⁴ I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. ⁵ Beloved, thou dost faithfully whatsoever thou dost, and that to the brethren; ⁶ Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey worthily of God, thou shalt do well: ⁷ Because that for [his] names sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. ⁸ We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellow-helpers to the church. ⁹ I wrote somewhat unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, receiveth us not. ¹⁰ Wherefore if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doth, prating against us with wicked words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth [them] out of the church. ¹¹ Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good, is of God: He that doeth evil, hath not seen God. ¹² Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we bear record, and thou knowest that our record is true. ¹³ I had many things to write, but I would not with ink and pen write unto thee: ¹⁴ But I hope I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak mouth to mouth, Peace [be] to thee. Our brethren salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

⁹ I John, who am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience in Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, [for] the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus
