¹ Now I Paul my self beseech you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent [am] bold toward you. ² But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present, with that confidence wherewith I think to be bold against some who think of us, as if we walked according to the flesh. ³ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: ⁴ For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. ⁵ Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth it self against the knowledge of God, and captivating every thought, and bringing it unto the obedience of Christ: ⁶ And having in readiness to revenge all obedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. ⁷ Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself, that he is Christ's servant, let him of himself think this again, that as he [is] Christ's even so [are] we Christ's. ⁸ For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which God hath given for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: ⁹ That we may not seem to terrify you by epistles. ¹⁰ For the epistles (says he) [are] weighty and powerfull, but bodily presence weak, and speech contemptible. ¹¹ Let such an one think this, that such as we are in word by letters, when we are absent, such [will we be] also in deed, when we are present. ¹² For we dare not make our selves of the number, or compare our selves with those that commend themselves but they [are] measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves amongst themselves. ¹³ But we will not boast of things without [our] measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. ¹⁴ For we stretch not our selves too far, as though we reached not unto you; for we are come as far as to you also, in the gospel of Christ: ¹⁵ Not boasting of things without the measure of other mens labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly, ¹⁶ To preach the gospel in the places beyond you, not to boast in another man's line, of things made ready to our hand. ¹⁷ But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. ¹⁸ For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

¹⁹ He shall not strive, nor cry, neither shall any man hear his voice in the street. ²⁰ A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

⁵ Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, sitting upon an ass, and a colt the fole of an ass.

³² The place of the scripture which he read, was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

²⁰ But Esaias saith, I was found in them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, your reasonable service.

¹⁵ Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you, in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,

³ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

¹⁰ We [are] fools for Christ's sake, but ye [are] wise in Christ: we weak, but ye strong: ye honourable, but we despised.

²¹ The salutation of Paul with mine own hand. ²² If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, Maran-atha.

¹² Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech.

²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech by us: we pray in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled unto God.

¹ We fellow-workers exhorting you, Receive not the grace of God in vain:

⁴ Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great [is] my glorying of you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in our manifold tribulation.

² But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present, with that confidence wherewith I think to be bold against some who think of us, as if we walked according to the flesh.

⁷ Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself, that he is Christ's servant, let him of himself think this again, that as he [is] Christ's even so [are] we Christ's.

¹⁰ For the epistles (says he) [are] weighty and powerfull, but bodily presence weak, and speech contemptible.

²¹ I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak in this part: howbeit, whereinsoever any is bold, I speak foolishly, I [am] bold also.

³⁰ If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.

⁵ Of such an one will I glory: yet of my self I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me. ⁸ For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

² For I told you before, and foretell [as] being present the second time, and being absent now to them who heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that if I come again, I will not spare: ³ Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you. ⁴ For he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God: For we also are weak in him, but we shall live by the power of God toward you.

¹³ Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you formerly.

² Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

¹ I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

¹⁷ The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write;

⁹ Yet for loves sake I rather beseech [thee], being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshy lusts, which war against the soul;

²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: ²³ Who when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatned not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously;

⁹ I John, who am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience in Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, [for] the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus

¹ [There is] therefore no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus.

⁵ For they that are after the flesh, do mind the things of the flesh: but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

¹⁸ Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. ¹⁹ But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them who are puffed up, but the power. ²⁰ For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. ²¹ What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and the spirit of meekness?

⁹ And when I was present with you and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me, the brethren who came from Macedonia, supplied: and in all things I have kept my self from being burdensom unto you, and will keep [my self]. ¹⁰ As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia. ¹¹ Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth. ¹² But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion, that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. ¹³ For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

¹³ For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except that I my self was not burdensom to you? forgive me this wrong. ¹⁴ Behold, this third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensom to you; for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. ¹⁵ And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you: the more abundantly I love you, the less I [am] beloved. ¹⁶ But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. ¹⁷ Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you? ¹⁸ I desired Titus, and with [him] I sent a brother: did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? not in the same steps? ¹⁹ Again, think you that we excuse our selves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but all things, dearly beloved, [are] for your edifying. ²⁰ For I fear lest when I come I shall not find you such as I would, and I shall be found unto you such as ye would not:lest [there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

² For I told you before, and foretell [as] being present the second time, and being absent now to them who heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that if I come again, I will not spare:

¹⁰ Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present, I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

¹⁶ I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: For these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. ¹⁸ But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. ¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, laciviousness, ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hared, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ²³ Meekness, temperance, chastity: against such there is no law. ²⁴ And they that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh, with the affections and lusts. ²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

² Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. ³ Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past, in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh, and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

¹³ For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but is ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the flesh, ye shall live.

⁴ For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ: Nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

¹⁸ This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare,

³ Thou therefore endure hardness with [them], as a good fellow-soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No man that warreth, entangleth himself with the affairs of life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

¹ Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race which is set before us,

¹ Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm your selves likewise with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sin; ² That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh, to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

¹³ Neither yield ye your members instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield your selves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead; and your members instruments of righteousness unto God.

¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast away the works of darkness, but let us put on the armour of light.

¹⁸ For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish, foolishness: but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God. ¹⁹ It is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. ²⁰ Where [is] the wise? where the scribe? where the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? ²¹ For after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe. ²² For the Jews require signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom: ²³ But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Gentiles foolishness; ²⁴ But unto them who are called both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

⁵ That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

⁷ Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth and drinketh not the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of its milk?

⁵ Not that we are sufficient of our selves to think any thing as of ourselves: but our sufficiency [is] of God.

⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

⁷ In the word of truth, in the power of God, in the armour of righteousness, on the right hand, and on the left,

¹³ Wherefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day; and having done all, ¹⁴ Stand, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye are able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ Praying always, with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching unto him, always in supplication for all the saints;

⁸ But let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith, and love, and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

³ Thou therefore endure hardness with [them], as a good fellow-soldier of Jesus Christ.

³⁰ By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

³² And what shall I say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and [of] Barak, and [of] Samson, and [of] Jephthae, [of] David also and Samuel, and [of] the prophets: ³³ Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. ³⁰ For my yoke is easie, and my burden is light.

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornication, thefts, false witnesses, blasphemy.

⁵¹ He hath shewed strength with his arm, he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

²⁵ Who by the Holy Spirit, by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? ²⁶ The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

⁴ And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? ⁵ Who said, Who art thou, Lord? And he [said,] I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [It] [is] hard for thee to kick against the goads. ⁶ And he trembling and astonished, said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him. Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee there what thou must do.

⁵ By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for his name:

²¹ Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkned.

²³ But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity in the law of sin, which is in my members.

²⁶ But now is made manifest, by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.

¹⁹ It is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

²⁷ But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world, to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ²⁸ And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, to bring to nought things that are: ²⁹ That no flesh should glory in the presence of God.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God: for it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

¹³ Whiles by the experiment of this ministration, they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men.

⁴ Though I might have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: ⁵ Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; ⁶ Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless, ⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung that I may win Christ, ⁹ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

⁴ Who opposeth and exateth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

⁸ And then shall that wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

¹² For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart:

⁹ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

² Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience, and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you and peace be multiplied.

¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning your selves according to the former lusts, in your ignorance: ¹⁵ But as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

²² Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth, unto unfeigned love of the brethren; love one another with the heart fervently:

³ But Peter said unto Ananias, Why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and for thee to keep back [part] of the price of the land? ⁴ While it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in [thine own] power? why hast thou conceived to do this wicked thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. ⁵ And when Ananias heard these words, he fell down immediately and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard [it]. ⁶ And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried [him] out, and buried [him.] ⁷ And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. ⁸ But Peter said unto her, I will ask thee then, whether ye sold the land for so much? And she [said,] Yes, for so much. ⁹ Then Peter [said] unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them who have buried thy husband [are] at the door, and shall carry thee out. ¹⁰ And she fell down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying [her] forth, when she was made ready, buried [her] by her husband. ¹¹ And great fear came upon the whole church, and upon as many as heard these things.

¹⁰ And said, O full of all subtilty and all knavery, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the ways of the Lord which are right? ¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord [shall be] upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

²¹ What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and the spirit of meekness?

³ For I verily being absent in body, but present it spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, him that hath so done this deed; ⁴ In the name of our Lord Jesus, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, ⁵ To deliver such an one unto Satan, for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved to the day of the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

¹⁵ And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him.

²⁰ Of whom is Hymeneus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

¹⁰ Wherefore if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doth, prating against us with wicked words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth [them] out of the church.

⁵ But all their works they do, for to be seen of men: For they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge their borders.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Ye are they who justifie your selves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is high amongst men, [is] abomination in the sight of God.

²⁴ Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

²⁸ For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; neither circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: ²⁹ But he [is] a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision [is] of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is not of men but of God.

¹² Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

²³ And ye Christ's; and Christ God's.

¹ Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not you my work in the Lord?

³⁷ Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

²³ But every man in his own order: Christ the first-fruits, afterward they that are Christ's, at his coming.

¹² For we commend not our selves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that you may have somewhat for them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

⁴ For if he that cometh, preacheth another Jesus whom we have not preached, or ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel which ye have not accepted, you would fairly suffer him.

¹⁸ Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? I speak as a fool, I [am] more: in labours more abundant, in prisons more frequent, in stripes above measure, in deaths oft.

¹¹ I am become a fool; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chief apostles, though I be nothing.

³ Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

¹¹ For I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me, is not after man. ¹² For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught [it], but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. ¹³ For ye have heard of my conversation in time past, in the Jews religion, that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

⁵ We gave place by subjection, [no not] for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. ⁶ But of these, who seemed to be somewhat: whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me; God accepteth no man's person: for they who seemed [to be somewhat], in conference added nothing to me. ⁷ But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as that of the circumcision was unto Peter; ⁸ For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me towards the Gentiles. ⁹ And when Peter, James, and John, who seemed to be pillars, prceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we [should go] unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

²⁹ And if ye be one in Christ Jesus, then indeed are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

⁶ We are of God: he that knoweth God, heareth us; Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

²⁴ Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

¹⁴ For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boating unto Titus is found a truth.

⁶ For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me [to be], or [that] he heareth of me.

¹ PAUL an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead,

¹² For the which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come; who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every one have praise of God.

¹⁷ For Christ sent me not to baptize, to but preach the gospel not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be of none effect.

²¹ For after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.

¹ And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech, or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. ² For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. ³ And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. ⁴ And my speech, and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of wisdom, but in the revelation of the Spirit, and of power:

⁶ But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.

⁵ Of such an one will I glory: yet of my self I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. ⁶ For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me [to be], or [that] he heareth of me.

¹³ Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you formerly. ¹⁴ And my temptation which was in my flesh, ye despised not, nor rejected but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.

¹⁹ But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them who are puffed up, but the power. ²⁰ For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

²⁰ For I fear lest when I come I shall not find you such as I would, and I shall be found unto you such as ye would not:lest [there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

¹¹ The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed thus, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

¹⁸ For I will not dare to say any of those things, which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,

¹ Do we begin again to commend our selves? or need we, as some, commendatory epistles to you, or commendatory [ones] from you?

¹⁸ For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

¹⁵ And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to every one according to his ability, and straightway took his journey.

¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

³ For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

⁶ Having then gifts, differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, according to the analogy of the faith.

²⁰ Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel where Christ was not named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

¹¹ But all these worketh that one and the self same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

¹⁴ For we stretch not our selves too far, as though we reached not unto you; for we are come as far as to you also, in the gospel of Christ: ¹⁵ Not boasting of things without the measure of other mens labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

⁷ But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

¹⁰ As every man hath received the gift, minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

¹ THE beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God,

²⁴ But this I do not value, neither count I my life dear unto my self, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry of the word, which word I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify to Jews and Gentiles the gospel of the grace of God.

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the Gospel: for it is the Power of God unto salvation, to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek,

¹⁶ In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

¹⁸ For I will not dare to say any of those things, which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, ¹⁹ Through his mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Holy Spirit; so that from Jerusalem unto Illyricum and round about, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

²⁵ Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

¹⁰ But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

⁵ Who then is Apollos, and who [is] Paul? Ministers by whom ye believed; even as the Lord gave to every man. ⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master-builder, I laid the foundation; another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereon.

¹⁵ For though you have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

¹ Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not you my work in the Lord? ² If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye.

¹² Furthermore when I came to Troas by the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

¹ Do we begin again to commend our selves? or need we, as some, commendatory epistles to you, or commendatory [ones] from you? ² Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men. ³ Ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ, ministred by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart:

⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine.

⁶ I marvel that ye are so soon removed from me that called you into the grace of Jesus Christ, unto another gospel: ⁷ Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

⁵ For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye have already heard in the Word of the truth of the gospel:

¹¹ Which is according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, that was committed to my trust.

¹³ And of the rest durst noone join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

¹³ But we will not boast of things without [our] measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

³ We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all towards each other aboundeth:

²¹ Then Paul purposed in the spirit, to pass through Macedonia and Achaia, and to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

²⁴ Whensoever therefore I take my journey into Spain, I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with you. ²⁵ But now I go unto Jerusalem, to minister unto the saints. ²⁶ For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia, to make a certain contribution for the poor saints who are at Jerusalem, ²⁷ And their debters they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things. ²⁸ When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.

¹¹ And not only this, but we also joy in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have already received the atonement.

²⁹ That no flesh should glory in the presence of God.

³¹ That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

¹³ For neither they themselves who are circumcised, keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. ¹⁴ But God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

³ For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:

⁹ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: ¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

²⁰ And so he that had received five talents, came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained besides them five talents more. ²¹ His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. ²² He also that had received two talents, came and said Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents. ²³ His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

¹⁰ Two men went up to the temple to pray; one a Pharisee, and one a publican. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed thus, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I posses. ¹³ And the publican standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down justified [rather] than that Pharisee: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

⁴² But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. ⁴³ I am come in my Fathers name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. ⁴⁴ How can ye believe, who receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that is from God only?

⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, aman approved of God among you, by miracles and wonders and signs, all which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye your selves know:

²⁹ But he [is] a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision [is] of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is not of men but of God.

¹⁸ For he that in these things serveth Christ, [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.

¹⁰ Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them who are of Aristobulus [household],

¹⁹ For there must be also heresies, that they also which are approved, may be made manifest among you.

⁴ But in all things approving our selves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

¹² For we dare not make our selves of the number, or compare our selves with those that commend themselves but they [are] measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves amongst themselves.

⁷ Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

¹⁵ Study to shew thy self approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

⁷ That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might befound unto praise, and honour, and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
