¹⁴ And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

¹ Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted of the devil. ² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterwards an hungred. ³ And the tempter came to him, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. ⁴ But Jesus answered an said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, ⁶ And saith unto him; If thou be the Son of God, cast thy self down: for it is written, he shall give his angels charge concerning thee, and upon their hands they shall hold thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. ⁸ Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them: ⁹ And said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. ¹⁰ Then said Jesus unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only thou shalt serve.

¹¹ Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

³ But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and purity that is in Christ.

⁸ But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
