¹ From whence [are] wars and whence fightings among you? [are they] not hence, of your lusts, that war in your members? ² Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. ³ Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. ⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world, is the enemy of God. ⁵ Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? ⁶ But he giveth more grace: wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. ⁷ Submit your selves therefore to God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you: ⁸ Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you: cleanse the hands, ye sinners, and purify the hearts, ye double-minded. ⁹ Be afflicted, and mourn, [and] weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and joy to heaviness. ¹⁰ Humble your selves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. ¹¹ Speak not evil one of another, my brethren. He that speaketh evil of a brother, or judgeth a brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. ¹² There is one lawgiver and judge, who is able to save, and to destroy: who art thou that judgest thy neighbour? ¹³ Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow let us go into such a city, and continue a year, and buy and sell; and we will get gain: ¹⁴ Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow: What [is]your life? It will be even a vapour that appeareth for a little time, and then also vanisheth away. ¹⁵ For that ye [ought] to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. ¹⁶ But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. ¹⁷ Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

¹⁹ For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornication, thefts, false witnesses, blasphemy.

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of man proceed evil reasonings, fornications, thefts, adulteries, murder, ²² Covetousness, deceit, wickedness, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemies, pride, foolishness: ²³ All these wicked things come from within, and defile the man.

⁴⁴ Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer of men from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

⁵ For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

²³ But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity in the law of sin, which is in my members.

⁷ Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

¹⁷ For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: For these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, and uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

⁴ He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof are begotten envyings, strifes, railings, evil surmisings, ⁵ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and turning from the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: ⁶ But godliness, with contentment, is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into the world, [and] certainly we can carry nothing out. ⁸ And having food and raiment let us be herewith content. ⁹ But they that will be rich, fall into temptation, and the snare of the devil, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some have coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

³ For we our selves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another.

⁹ But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contention, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

¹⁴ But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

¹⁴ But if then ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife [is], there [is] also confusion, and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entrated, full of mercy and good fruits, without wavering, without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

³ Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

¹⁴ As obedient children, not fashioning your selves according to the former lusts, in your ignorance:

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshy lusts, which war against the soul;

² That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh, to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. ³ For the time past may suffice to have wrought the will of te Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that in some measure escape from them who live in error:

³ Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers in scoffing, walking after their own lusts,

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, ¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and its lust: but he that doeth the will of God, abideth for ever.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words]; respecters of persons, because of advantage. ¹⁷ But beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: ¹⁸ That they told you there should come mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

⁷ Ask and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find: knock, and it shall be opened unto you: ⁸ For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, shall be opened.

⁹ And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find: knock, and it shall be opened unto you. ¹⁰ For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, is opened. ¹¹ What son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, and he will give him a stone?or if he also ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? ¹² But if he shall ask an egg also, will he give him a scorpion. ¹³ If ye therefore being evil, know to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall the Father from the heaven give a good gift to them that ask him?

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who he is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou woulst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.

²⁴ Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

⁵ If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not[;] and it shall be given him,

¹ Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you]. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and the rust shall eat your flesh as fire: ye have heaped treasure together in the last days. ⁴ Behold the hire of the labourers, who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them who have reaped, are entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, ye have been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts in days of slaughter.

²² But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of? They say, We are able.

³⁸ But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of; or be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

¹³ And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

³⁰ But for thy son who hath devoured all he had with harlots, when he came thou hast killed the fatted calf.

¹ And he said also unto the disciples, There was a certain rich man who had a steward;and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. ² And he called [him,] and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee?give an account of thy stewardship: for thou mayst be no longer steward.

⁶ But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering: for he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea, driven with the wind, and tossed. ⁷ For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

²² And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask according to his name, he heareth us.

²⁴ No one can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon:

³⁹ But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign, and there shalt no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet, Jonas.

⁴ A wicked generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

²⁷ But these mine enemies which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. And cast ye the unprofitable servant unto the outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testifie of it, that the works thereof are evil.

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: Because ye were not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

²³ He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no one else had done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen me, and hated me and my Father.

¹⁴ But I have given them thy word; and the world hateth them, because they are not of this world.

¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son: much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

¹⁰ For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

²⁷ For pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father, is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, to keep himself unspotted from the world.

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world,

⁴² Does not the scripture say, that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

³⁵ If he called them gods? unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken:

³⁷ And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

⁹ And the patriarchs moved with envy, sold Joseph, into Egypt: but God was with him,

²⁹ Being filled with all unrighteousness, maliciousness, fornication, covetousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

¹⁷ For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

¹⁹ What, know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for we are the temple of the living God; for God saith, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

⁸ And the scripture foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

¹² For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away, even that he hath.

¹² And whosoever shall exalt himself, shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself, shall be exalted.

⁵² He hath put down the mighty from [their] seats, and exalted them of low degree.

¹¹ For whosoever exalteth himself, shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down justified [rather] than that Pharisee: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

⁵ Likewise ye younger, submit your selves unto the elder: yea, and all one with another, be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

³ And the tempter came to him, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. ⁴ But Jesus answered an said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. ⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, ⁶ And saith unto him; If thou be the Son of God, cast thy self down: for it is written, he shall give his angels charge concerning thee, and upon their hands they shall hold thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. ⁸ Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them: ⁹ And said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. ¹⁰ Then said Jesus unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only thou shalt serve. ¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and behold angels came and ministred unto him.

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

² Being forty days tempted of Satan;and in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he hungred. ³ But the devil said unto him,If thou be the Son of God, speak, that these stones may be made loaves. ⁴ And Jesus answering, said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. ⁵ And He taking him up into a very high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said unto him, I will give thee all this power and the glory of them; for that is delivered unto me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it. ⁷ If thou therefore wilt worship before me, all shall be thine. ⁸ And Jesus answered and said unto him,It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ⁹ And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle ofthe temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thy self down from hence. ¹⁰ For it is written, that He shall charge his angels concerning thee, to keep thee. ¹¹ And that in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answering, said unto him, that it is written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. ¹³ And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a time.

⁶ And he trembling and astonished, said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him. Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee there what thou must do.

²⁹ Then he called for a light, and leaped in, and trembling, fell down at the feet of Paul and Silas; ³⁰ And brought them out, and securing the rest, he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

¹⁹ Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

¹¹ For it is written, I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

²⁷ Neither give place to the devil.

²¹ Submitting your selves one to another in the fear of Christ Jesus.

¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For ye wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

⁹ Furthermore, we have had fathers of our flesh, who corrected us, and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

¹³ Submit your selves to every human creature for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

⁶ Humble your selves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour. ⁹ Whom resist stedfast in the faith; knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the World.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast out, who accused them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

³³ Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by the fruit.

² Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

²⁵ Wo unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. ²⁶ Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that within the cup, that the outside of it may be clean also.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this man, you shall see [to it].

³⁹ But the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees Hypocrites make clean the outside of the cup and the platter: but your inside is full of ravening and wickedness. ⁴⁰ Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without, make that which is within also?

⁹ And put no difference between us and them, having purified their hearts by faith.

¹ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse our selves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

⁸ I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and disputings.

¹⁹ For the law made nothing perfect, but the introduction of a better hope [did]; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

²² Let us draw near with a true heart, in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁸ A double-minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.

²² Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth, unto unfeigned love of the brethren; love one another with the heart fervently:

²¹ The which figure baptism doth also now save you: not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the stipulation of a good conscience towards God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

³ And every man that hath this hope in him, purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

⁴ Blessed [are] the meek: for they all inherit the earth.

²¹ Blessed [are] ye that hunger now[:] for ye shall be filled.

²⁵ Wo unto you that are full: for ye shall hunger. Wo unto you that laugh now for ye shall mourn and weep,

²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is here comforted, and thou art pained.

¹⁰ For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. ¹¹ For behold, this self-same thing that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, clearing of your selves, yea, indignation, yea, fear, yea, vehement desire, yea, zeal, yea, revenge! in all things ye have approved your selves to be clear in this matter.

¹ Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you]. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.

⁷ How much she hath glorified her self, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, that I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. ⁸ Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burnt with fire: for strong [is] God who hath judged her.

⁶ But he giveth more grace: wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. ⁷ Submit your selves therefore to God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you:

¹ Judge not, that ye be not judged. ² For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

³⁷ Judge not, that ye may not be judged: condemn not, that ye may not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

¹ Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest, does the same thing.

¹³ For not the hearers of the law [are] just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

⁷ What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

¹² Wherefore the law [is] holy; and the commandment holy, and just, and good. ¹³ Was then that which is good, made death unto me? By no means. But sin that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

³ Let not him that eateth, despise him that eateth not; let not him that eateth not, judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. ⁴ Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth: Yea, he shall be holden up: for God [is] able to make him stand.

¹⁰ But why dost thou judge thy brother in not eating, or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment-seat of God. ¹¹ For it is written, I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So every one of us shall render an account of himself to God.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come; who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every one have praise of God.

²⁰ For I fear lest when I come I shall not find you such as I would, and I shall be found unto you such as ye would not:lest [there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

³¹ Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil-speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

¹¹ Even so let the wives [be] grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

³ Without natural affection, truce breakers, false-accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

³ The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ If any one be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

²⁵ But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [in it,] being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

⁹ Grudge not one against another, my brethren, lest ye be judged: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

¹ Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and evil-speakings,

²⁸ And fear not them who kill the body, but are nor able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.

⁵ But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Him who, after he hath killed, hath power to cast into gehenna; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

²⁰ O man, who art thou that repliest against God? shall the thing formed say to him that formed [it], Why hast thou formed me thus?

⁴ Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth: Yea, he shall be holden up: for God [is] able to make him stand.

¹³ Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling-block, or an occasion to fall in the brother's way.

²⁵ Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost, that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do,because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? ¹⁸ And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and make them greater;and there will I collect all my fruits. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods; Be merry. ²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: [then] whose shall those things be which thou hast provided;

³⁰ And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

¹ Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you].

¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

²⁴ For all flesh [is] grass, and all its glory as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth away:

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and its lust: but he that doeth the will of God, abideth for ever.

²¹ Bidding them farewel, and saying, I must by all means keep this feast-day that is coming, at Jerusalem. I will return onto you, if God will, [and] he sailed from Ephesus.

¹⁰ Making request if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

³² That I may come unto you with joy by the will of Christ Jesus, and may with you be refreshed.

¹⁹ But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them who are puffed up, but the power.

⁷ For I will not see you now by the way, but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.

³ And this will we do, if God permit.

⁷ For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive [it], why dost thou glory as if thou hadst not received [it] ⁸ Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would that ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

⁶ Your glorying it not good: Know ye not that a little leaven corrupteth the whole lump?

¹⁴ But if then ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

⁷ How much she hath glorified her self, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, that I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

⁴⁷ And that servant who knew his lords will, but did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes.] ⁴⁸ But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few. To whom much is given they will require the more from him; and to whom they have committed much, of him they will require the more.

⁴¹ Jesus therefore said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see: therefore your sins remain.

¹⁷ If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

²² If I had not come, and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.

²⁰ For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: ²¹ Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkned.

³² Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but consent to them that do them.

¹⁷ But if thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God; ¹⁸ And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law, ¹⁹ And art confident that thou thy self art a guide of the blind, a light of them who are in darkness, ²⁰ An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, who hast the form of knowledge, and of the truth in the law. ²¹ Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thy self? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? ²² Thou that sayst a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? ²³ Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

¹³ Was then that which is good, made death unto me? By no means. But sin that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known [it], to return backward from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
