¹ And it came to pass, as he entred into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath, that they watched him. ² And behold, there was a man before him who had the dropsie. ³ And Jesus answering, spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not? ⁴ And they held their peace. And he took and healed him, and let [him] go: ⁵ And said unto them, Which of you shall have a sheep or an ox fallen into a pit on the sabbath-day and will not straightway pull him out? ⁶ But they did not give him answer to these things. ⁷ But he spake also a parable to those who were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief seats, saying unto them, ⁸ When thou shall be invited to a wedding, sit not down in the highest seat, lest one more honourable than thou come; ⁹ And he that invited thee and him, come and [say] to thee, Give this man place; and thou with shame take the lowest place. ¹⁰ But when thou shall be invited sit down in the lowest place; that when he that inviteth thee shall come, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: And then shalt thou have respect in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. ¹¹ For whosoever exalteth himself, shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted. ¹² Then said he also to him that invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not [thy] friends, nor thy brethren, nor neighbours, nor the rich, lest they also invite thee again, and a recompence be made thee. ¹³ But when thou makest a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind; ¹⁴ And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompence thee: for thou shalt be recompenced at the resurrection of the just. ¹⁵ And when one of them that sat with him, heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. ¹⁶ Then said he, A certain man made a great supper, and invited many: ¹⁷ And sent his servant at the hour of supper to say to them that were invited, to come, for all things were now ready. ¹⁸ And they all with one [consent] began to make excuse. The first said, I have bought a field, and I must needs go and see it: wherefore I cannot come. ¹⁹ And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: Wherefore I cannot come. ²⁰ And another said, I have married a wife: wherefore I cannot come. ²¹ So the servant came, and shewed his lord all these things. And the master of the house being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring hither the poor, and the maimed, and the lame, and the blind. ²² And the servant said, what thou hast commanded is done, and yet there is room. ²³ And the lord said unto his servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. ²⁴ For I say unto you, that not one of the men who were invited, shall taste of my supper. ²⁵ And there went multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, ²⁶ If any man comes to me, and hates not his father, and his mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And he that doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. ²⁸ But which of you intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have to finish [it]? ²⁹ Lest perhaps after he hath laid the foundation, but is not able to build and finish [it,] all that behold [it], begin to mock him, and to say, ³⁰ This man began to build, and was not able to finish. ³¹ Or what king going to make war against another king, doth not presently sit down and consulteth first whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? ³² Or if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. ³³ Likewise, also whosoever he be of you, that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. ³⁴ Salt [is] good: but if the salt have also lost its savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? ³⁵ It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghil; and they cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

² And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath, that they might accuse him.

⁷ The scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal, that they might find to accuse him.

³⁴ The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a wine bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. ³⁵ But wisdom is justified of her children.

³⁷ And a certain Pharisee asked him that he would dine with him: and he went in and sat down.

⁵³ And as [he] said these things unto them, before all the people, the Pharisees and lawyers began to urge [him] vehemently, and to confer with him about many things: ⁵⁴ Seeking to obtain some occasion against him, that they might have wherewith to accuse him.

²⁰ And going away they sent forth spies, which should feign themselves to be just men, that they might take hold of his words that so they might deliver him unto the governor.

¹ Now there was a man of the Pharisees, his name was Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

³⁴ Then stood there up one of the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little while.

¹⁹ For though I be free from all men, yet have I made my self servant unto all, that I might gain the more. ²⁰ And unto the Jews, I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as not being my self under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain them that are without law. ²² To the weak became I weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save all men.

² But when the Pharisees saw them, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath.

¹⁰ And behold, there was a man there who had his hand withered: and they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbaths? that they might accuse him.

³⁵ Then one of them, a lawyer, asked a question, tempting him, and saying,

⁴ And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? but they held their peace.

⁹ But Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil?to save life, or to destroy [it]?But they held their peace.

⁴⁴ Wo unto you, O ye scribes and Pharisees; for ye are graves which appear not, and the men that walk over [them,] know it not. ⁴⁵ But one of the lawyers, answered and said, unto him, Master, thus saying, thou reproachest us also.

¹⁴ But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and said, unto the multitude. There are six days in which they ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath-day. ¹⁵ But the Lord Jesus answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite; doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox and ass from the stall, and lead [him] away to watering? ¹⁶ And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath-day?

²³ If therefore a man on the sabbath receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; how are ye angry at me, because I have perfectly cured a man on the sabbath?

²⁵ The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? and they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not believe him? ²⁶ But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. ²⁷ And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

⁴⁶ And no one was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that hour ask him any more questions.

¹¹ But he said unto them, What man is there among you, that shall have one sheep, and is shall fall into a pit on the sabbath, does he not lay hold on it, and lift [it] out? ¹² How much then is a man better than a sheep? wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbaths.

¹⁵ But the Lord Jesus answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite; doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox and ass from the stall, and lead [him] away to watering?

¹⁷ And, his adversaries were ashamed: and all the multitude rejoyced for all the glorious things, they had seen done by him.

²⁶ But they could not take hold of his word before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

⁴⁰ And after that, they durst not ask him any question at all.

¹⁵ For I will give you a mouth, and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist.

¹⁰ Who could not resist the wisdom that was in him, and the Holy Spirit by which he spake, because they were reproved by him with all boldness; not being therefore able to oppose the truth,

³⁴ All there things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables, and without a parable spake he not unto them:

⁶ And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

³⁸ But he said unto them as he was teaching, Beware of the scribes, and publicans, who delight to go in long clothing, and to be saluted in the markets. ³⁹ And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost seats at feasts:

⁴³ Wo unto you, O ye Pharisees: for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets: and the highest places at feasts.

⁴⁶ Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief seats at feasts;

¹⁸ And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles hands, the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money. ¹⁹ Beseeching him, and saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I also lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

³ [Do] nothing through strife, or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.

⁹ I wrote somewhat unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, receiveth us not.

⁹ Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will cause that they shall come, and shall worship before thy feet, and know that I have loved thee.

¹² And whosoever shall exalt himself, shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself, shall be exalted.

⁵¹ He hath shewed strength with his arm, he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down justified [rather] than that Pharisee: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

⁶ But he giveth more grace: wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

¹⁰ Humble your selves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

⁵ Likewise ye younger, submit your selves unto the elder: yea, and all one with another, be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

⁴⁶ For if ye shall love them who love you, what reward will ye have? do not even the publicans the same?

¹ Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father in the heavens. ² Therefore, when thou shalt do alms, thou shalt not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be glorified of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. ³ But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth: ⁴ That thine alms may be in secret: and thy father who seeth in scret, himself shall reward thee.

¹⁶ Moreover, when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. ¹⁷ But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face. ¹⁸ That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, shall reward thee.

⁵³ He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty.

³² For if ye love them who love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do this. ³³ And if ye do good to them who do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do the same. ³⁴ And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive again. ³⁵ But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, desponding nothing: and your reward shall be great and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful, and the evil. ³⁶ Be ye merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

¹ My brethren, have not the faith of Jesus Christ our Lord of glory, with respect of persons. ² For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; ³ And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under the footstool of my feet[.] ⁴ Are ye not then partial in your selves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? ⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, hath not God chosen the poor of the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the promise, which he hath promised to them that love him? ⁶ But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment-seats?

¹⁴ And he went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion for them, and he healed their sick. ¹⁵ And when it was evening his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the hour is now past; send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy them selves victuals. ¹⁶ But he said unto them, They need not depart, give ye them to eat. ¹⁷ And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. ¹⁸ But he said, Bring them to me. ¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes. ²⁰ And they all did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained, twelve baskets full. ²¹ And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

³² Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on this multitude, because it is now three days and they continue with me, and have not any thing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. ³³ And his disciples say unto him, Whence then should we have so many loaves in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? ³⁴ And Jesus saith unto them. How many loaves have ye? and they said unto him, Seven, and a few little fishes. ³⁵ And when he had charged the multitude to sit down on the ground, ³⁶ He took the seven loaves, and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. ³⁷ And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that were left, seven baskets full. ³⁸ And they that did eat, were four thousand men, besides women and children. ³⁹ And when he had sent away the multitude, he took ship, and came into the coasts of Magadan.

¹⁰ So his Servants went out into the high-ways, and gathered together all those that they found, both bad and good: and the marriage feast was furnished with guests.

⁴¹ But rather give alms of such things as you have: and behold, all things shall be clean unto you.

²¹ So the servant came, and shewed his lord all these things. And the master of the house being angry, said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring hither the poor, and the maimed, and the lame, and the blind.

⁴⁴ And all that believed were together, and had all things common. ⁴⁵ And as many as had possessions of goods, sold them, and parted them to all as every one had need.

³⁴ And no one among them wanted: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses: sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, ³⁵ And laid [them] down at the apostles feet: and distribution was made unto every one according as he had need.

³⁹ Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper room, and all the widows stood round about him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made while she was with them.

¹³ Distributing to the memorials of the saints; given to hospitality. ¹⁴ Bless them who persecute you: bless, and curse not. ¹⁵ Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. ¹⁶ [Be] of the same mind one towards another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits,

² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

¹⁰ Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

⁸ But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, without passion;

⁷ For we have had great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, Brother.

² Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

⁴ That thine alms may be in secret: and thy father who seeth in scret, himself shall reward thee.

⁴¹ He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophets reward. ⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink to one o the least of these, a cup of cold water, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, his reward shall not be lost.

³⁴ Than shall the king say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the World. ³⁵ For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in: ³⁶ Naked; and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed [thee]? or thisty, and gave [thee] drink? ³⁸ When saw we thee a stranger, and took [thee] in? and naked, and clothed [thee]? ³⁹ Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer, and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.

³⁵ But they who shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage. ³⁶ Neither shall they die any more; for they are equal unto the angels with God, being the children of the resurrection.

²⁹ And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that do evil, unto the resurrection of condemnation.

¹⁵ And have hope towards God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection, both of the just and unjust.

¹⁸ But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus what was sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. ¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to the riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.

⁴ And I saw thrones, and they satupon them, and judgment was given unto them: and the souls of them that had been conquered in war, for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the wild beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon [their] forehead, and in their Hand; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. ⁵ The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years were finished. This [is] the first resurrection.

¹¹ And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens.

¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.

³⁷ Blessed [are] those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I [say] unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

²⁹ And they shall come from the east, and the west, and the north, and the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

³⁰ That ye may eat and drink at my table in the kingdom, and sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁷ Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto eternal life, which the Son of man giveth unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. ²⁸ Then said they unto him, What shall we work that we may do the works of God? ²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye may believe on him whom he hath sent. ³⁰ They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what thou dost work? ³¹ Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. ³² Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily verily I say to you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. ³⁴ Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. ³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me, shall not hunger at all; and he that believeth on me, shall not thirst at all. ³⁶ But I said unto you, that ye also have seen me, and believe not. ³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, will come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast away. ³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of the father that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but that I should raise it up again at the last day. ⁴⁰ For this is the will of my Father that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴¹ But the Jews murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. ⁴² And they said, It not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith that I came down from heaven? ⁴³ Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among your selves. ⁴⁴ No one can come to me, except the father who hast sent me, draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Everyone that heareth, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. ⁴⁶ Not that any one hath seen the Father, save he who is of God, he hath seen God. ⁴⁷ Verily verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath eternal life. ⁴⁸ I am the bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers did eat bread and manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that if a man eat thereof, he shall not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if therefore any one shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: The bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore strove amonst themselves, saying, How can he give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily verily I say unto you, Except ye take the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoso eateth his flesh, and drinketh his blood, hath eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is meat indeed. ⁵⁶ He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the father is in me, so I am in the father; Verily verily I say unto you unless ye take the body of the Son of Man as the bread of life, ye have not life in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that taketh me, even he shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth this bread, shall live for ever. ⁵⁹ These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Caphanaum on the Sabbath.

⁹ And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed [are] they who are called unto the marriage-supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These sayings are the true s[ayings] of God.

² The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son, ³ And sent forth his servants, to call them that were invited to the marriage feast, and they would not come. ⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, tell them who we invited, Behold I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage feast. ⁵ But they made light of [it], and went their ways, some to their field, and others to their merchandise: ⁶ And the remnant took his servants, and treated [them] injuriously, and slew [them]. ⁷ When the king heard [it], he was wroth: and he sent forth his army, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt up their city. ⁸ Then saith he to his servants, the marriage feast is ready, but they who were invited were not worthy. ⁹ Go ye therefore into the high-ways, and a many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast. ¹⁰ So his Servants went out into the high-ways, and gathered together all those that they found, both bad and good: and the marriage feast was furnished with guests. ¹¹ And when the king came to see the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment: ¹² And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou hither, not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless. ¹³ Then said the king to his servants, Take him by his hands and feet, and cast [him] into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, ¹⁴ For the called are many, but the chosen are few.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Go ye into the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. ¹⁶ For he that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not, shall be condemned.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth, say, Come. Let him that is athirst, come: And he that will, let him take the water of life freely.

¹ In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² And saying, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ³ For this it he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. ⁴ And the same John had his raiment of camels hair, and a leathern girdle about his loyns; and his meat was locusts, and wild honey. ⁵ Then went out to him Jerusalem and all Judea, and all the region about Jordan, ⁶ And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. ⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruit meet for repentance. ⁹ And think not to say within your selves, We have Abraham to [our] father: for I say unto you, that God is able of there stones to raise up children unto Abraham. ¹⁰ Now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: therefore every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you in water unto repentance; but he that cometh after me, is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry: he will baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and fire. ¹² Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into his garner: but he will burn up the chaff with unquenched fire.

¹ And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power [over] unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease. ² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, ³ Philip, and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the publican, James [the son] of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, ⁴ And Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Scarioth, who also betrayed him.

²⁷ All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son but the Father: neither knoweth any one the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him]. ²⁸ Come unto me all that labour, and you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

³ And sent forth his servants, to call them that were invited to the marriage feast, and they would not come. ⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, tell them who we invited, Behold I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage feast.

⁴ As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make your paths straight. ⁵ Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; ⁶ And all flesh shall see the salvation of the Lord.

¹ Then having called the twelve together, he gave them power and authority over every daemon, and to cure diseases. ² And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. ³ And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither a staff, nor bag, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. ⁴ And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. ⁵ And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the dust of your feet for a testimony against them.

¹ But he appointed other seventy two also, and sent them by two and two before his face into every place, and city, whither he was to come; ² But he said unto them, The harvest [is] great, but the labourers [are] few: pray ye the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. ³ Go away: behold I send you forth, as lambs in the midst of wolves. ⁴ Carry neither purse, nor bag, nor shoes: and salute no one by the way. ⁵ And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace [be] to this house. ⁶ And if indeed the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him, but if not, your peace shall return to you. ⁷ But in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. ⁸ Into whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they shall receive you, eat such things as are set before you. ⁹ And heal those that are sick therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you ¹⁰ But unto whatsoever city ye shall enter, and they receive you not, go out into the streets of it, and say, ¹¹ Even the very dust of your feet which cleaveth to our feet we do wipe off against you. But know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh [you.] ¹² But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for Sodom in the kingdom of God than for that city,

³⁷ In the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood, and cried, saying, If any one thirst, let him come and drink.

³⁸ But Peter saith unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ³⁹ For the promise is ours, and to our children, and to all that are afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.

²⁴ All the prophets also from Samuel, and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise spoken of these days. ²⁵ Yeare the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. ²⁶ Unto you first, God having raised up his Son, sent him forth to bless [you,] in turning away every one from your iniquities.

²⁶ Men, Brethren, children of the family of Abraham, and whosoever among us feareth God, to us is the word of this salvation sent forth.

³⁸ Be it known unto you therefore, Men, Brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins. ³⁹ By him therefore every one that believes is justified before God, from all things by repentance, from which we could not be justified by the law of Moses.

¹⁸ And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

⁵ But they made light of [it], and went their ways, some to their field, and others to their merchandise: ⁶ And the remnant took his servants, and treated [them] injuriously, and slew [them].

³⁸ For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, both marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noe entered into the ark. ³⁹ And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of man be.

¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns, are they, who when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no perfect fruit.

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They did eat, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entred into the ark: and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot, they eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded: ²⁹ On the same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even thus shall it be in the day of the Son of man, when he shall be revealed. ³¹ In that day, he who shall be upon the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not come down to take them away: and he who is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

⁴ The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? ⁵ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

¹¹ He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

⁴⁰ And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life eternal.

⁴⁵ And when the Jews saw the multitude, they were filled with envy, and contradicted those words which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming. ⁴⁶ But Paul and Barnabas waxed bold,and said unto them, The word of God was to be first spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge your selves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁵ And when Silas and Timothy were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed by the word, and testified to the Jews, that Jesus was the Lord. ⁶ But when there had been much discourse, and the scriptures had been interpreted, and when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, Paul shook [his] raiment, and said unto them. Your blood [be] upon your head; I [am] clean; I go to the Gentiles.

²⁵ And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word. Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the Prophet, unto our fathers, ²⁶ saying, Go unto this people, and say unto them, Hearing, ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive. ²⁷ For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

⁹ But they that will be rich, fall into temptation, and the snare of the devil, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some have coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁴ And they will turn away [their] ears from the truth, and will be turned unto fables.

¹⁰ For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica: Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

¹⁶ Lest there [be] any fornicator, or profane person; As Esau for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world,

²⁶ If any man comes to me, and hates not his father, and his mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And he that doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. ²⁸ But which of you intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have to finish [it]?

²⁹ And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, there is no one that hath left houses, or parents, or brethren or sisters or wife, or children in this time for the kingdom of Gods sake. ³⁰ Who shall not receive sevenfold more in this present time, and in the age to come, eternal life.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is short. It remaineth that both they that have wives, be as though they had none; ³⁰ And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; ³¹ And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

³³ But he that is married, careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please the wife.

⁵ The blind receive their sight, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

²⁸ Come unto me all that labour, and you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

¹² Then came his disciples, and said unto him, knowest thou that the Pharisees were scandalized after they heard this saying?

³¹ When therefore his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

²⁸ But what think you? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in the vineyard. ²⁹ He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented and went into the vineyard. ³⁰ But he came to the other, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, Sir; and went not. ³¹ Whether of them two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and harlots go ito the kingdom of God before you.

⁷ When the king heard [it], he was wroth: and he sent forth his army, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt up their city. ⁸ Then saith he to his servants, the marriage feast is ready, but they who were invited were not worthy.

²² Then Jesus answering, said unto them, Go and tell John what things your eyes have seen, and your ears have heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to [them]: ²³ And blessed is he whosoever shall not be scandalized at me.

¹⁰ And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately to a village called Bethsaida.

¹³ But when thou makest a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind;

²⁴ For I say unto you, that not one of the men who were invited, shall taste of my supper.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, as far as all nations;beginning at Jerusalem.

³⁹ And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him, for the word of the woman which testified, He told me all that ever I did. ⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans were come unto him, the besought him that he would abide with them: and he abode there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed because of his own word: ⁴² And said unto the woman, We do not know believe because of thy testimony; for we have heard him our selves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

⁴⁷ The Pharisees answered them, Are ye also deceived? ⁴⁸ Does any one of the rulers or of the Pharisees believe on him? ⁴⁹ But this multitude who knoweth not the law, are cursed.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world: that they who see not, might see; and that they who see, might be made blind.

⁴ Therefore they that were scattered abroad, went about preaching the word. ⁵ And Philip came to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. ⁶ But when all the multitudes with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing, and seeing the signs which he did. ⁷ Unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

³ How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him];

²⁵ Seethat ye refuse not him that speaketh to you: For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more we, if we turn away from him that is from the heavens: ²⁶ Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promiseth, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

¹⁷ Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit your selves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account concerning you: that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that [is] unprofitable for you.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, hath not God chosen the poor of the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the promise, which he hath promised to them that love him?

¹ And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them is filled up the wrath of God. ² And I saw asit were a sea of glass, mingled with fire; and them that had gotten the victory over the wild beast, and over his image, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. ³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [are] thy works, Lord God almighty; just, and true [are] thy ways, thou King of nations. ⁴ Who shall not fear [thee,] O Lord, and glorify thy name? for [thou] only [art] holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest O Lord. ⁵ And after that I looked, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: ⁶ And the seven angels came out of the temple, who had the seven plagues, clothed in pure shining linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. ⁷ And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels, seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. ⁸ And the Temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no one was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

¹⁵ And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the wine-press of the fierceness of the wrath of almighty God

² In my Fathers house are many mansions, But if not I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.

¹ THE former Treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach. ² Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the holy Ghost, had given commandment to preach the Gospel unto the apostles, whom he had chosen. ³ To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion, by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: ⁴ And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard bymy mouth. ⁵ For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost, which ye shall receive not many days hence. ⁶ When they therefore were come together, they asked of him saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? ⁷ And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. ⁸ But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. ⁹ Add when he had spoken these things, a cloud received him, and he was taken out of their sight.

⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.

⁹ For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

⁵ For [there is] one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; ⁶ Who gave himself a ransom for all; whose testimony was given in his own times.

² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [those] of the whole world.

⁴ [There were] sealed, an hundred forty four thousand, of all the tribes of Israel. ⁵ Ofthe tribe of Juda [were] sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand. ⁶ Of the tribe of Aser twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim twelve thousand. Of the trie of Manasses twelve thousand, ⁷ Of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Isachar twelve thousand. ⁸ Of the tribe of Zabulon twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand. ⁹ After this I beheld a great multitude, and no man could number them, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, cloathed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

⁴³ Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

⁹ Go ye therefore into the high-ways, and a many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast. ¹⁰ So his Servants went out into the high-ways, and gathered together all those that they found, both bad and good: and the marriage feast was furnished with guests.

¹⁹ Go ye now and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them unto the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: ²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the age.

²⁹ But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us; for it is towards evening, and the day far spent; and he went in to tarry with them.

¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.

⁴⁴ While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them who heard the word. ⁴⁵ And they of the circumcision who believed, were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the free gift of the Holy Ghost. ⁴⁶ For they heard them speaking with other tongues, and magnifying God. But Peter said, ⁴⁷ Can any one forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, as well as we? ⁴⁸ Then he commanded them to be baptized, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry with them certain days.

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. ¹⁹ Now they who were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose from Stephen, travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only. ²⁰ And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Hellenists preaching the Lord Jesus Christ. ²¹ But the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded us, Behold I have set thee to be a light to the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. ⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and received the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life, believed.

¹⁵ And when she was baptized, and all her houshold, she besought [us], saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to God, come into my house and abide [there.] And she constrained us.

¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn [them] from darkness to light, and[from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me. ¹⁹ Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: ²⁰ But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent, and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

²⁸ Be it known therefore unto you, that this salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and [that] they will hear it.

¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

¹³ For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am an apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: ¹⁴ If by any means I may provoke to emulation my flesh, and might save some of them.

⁹ And that the Gentiles might glorify God for [his] mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. ¹⁰ And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again he saith, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles, and laud him, all ye people. ¹² And again Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

¹⁹ For though I be free from all men, yet have I made my self servant unto all, that I might gain the more. ²⁰ And unto the Jews, I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as not being my self under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ) that I might gain them that are without law. ²² To the weak became I weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save all men. ²³ And I do all things for the gospels sake, that I might be partaker thereof with [you].

¹¹ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God, and I trust also, are made manifest in your consciences.

²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech by us: we pray in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled unto God.

¹ We fellow-workers exhorting you, Receive not the grace of God in vain:

¹¹ Wherefore remember that ye [were] in time passed Gentiles in the flesh; who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands; ¹² That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ. ¹⁴ For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; ¹⁵ Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, the law of commandments, in ordinances, for to make in himself, of twain, one new man, making peace; ¹⁶ And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: ¹⁷ And came, and preached peace to those who were afar off, and to those that were nigh. ¹⁸ For through him we both have an access by one Spirit unto the Father. ¹⁹ Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the houshold of God; ²⁰ And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone; ²¹ In whom all the building fitly framed together, groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: ²² In whom you also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

²³ If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, which was preached to all the creation that is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister.

²⁸ Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching them in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ.

² Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.

⁸ Then saith he to his servants, the marriage feast is ready, but they who were invited were not worthy.

³⁸ Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. ³⁹ For I say unto you, that ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of God.

¹⁹ And this is the judgement, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

³⁶ That he who believeth on the Son, may have eternal life: But he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

²¹ Then said he again unto them, I go away and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go ye cannot come.

²⁴ I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your Sins: for if ye believe not me that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.

⁴⁶ But Paul and Barnabas waxed bold,and said unto them, The word of God was to be first spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge your selves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

¹ But as many people encompassed him round about, insomuch that they crouded one upon another, he began to say unto the disciples, First of all beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisie.

²⁴ When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they took boats for themselves, and came to Caphanaum, seeking for Jesus. ²⁵ And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou higher? ²⁶ Jesus answered them and said, Verily verily I say unto you, Ye seek me; not because ye saw the signs and wonders, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. ²⁷ Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto eternal life, which the Son of man giveth unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me:

²⁵ He that loveth his life, shall lose it: and he that hateth his life in this world, shall keep it unto life eternal.

²⁴ But this I do not value, neither count I my life dear unto my self, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry of the word, which word I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify to Jews and Gentiles the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

⁸ Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung that I may win Christ,

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

³⁸ And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, presently he is offended.

²⁴ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any one wilt come after me, let him deny him self, and take up his cross and follow me. ²⁵ For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake, shall find it. ²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

³⁴ And when he had called the multitude unto him, with his disciples, he said, Whosoever will follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. ³⁵ For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose it for the gospels sake, the same shall save it. ³⁶ For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? ³⁷ For what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

²¹ Then Jesus beholding him, loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go away, sell what thou hast, and give to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.

²¹ And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who was passing by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

²³ And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and follow me. ²⁴ For whosoever will save his soul, shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. ²⁵ For what will it advantage a man to gain the whole world, and lose himself.

¹⁷ And he bearing his cross, went forth into what is called the place of a scull, which is called in the Hebrew, Golgotha;

²² Confirming the souls of the disciples, [and] exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation come into the kingdom of God.

¹² For the which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

¹² Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, will suffer persecution.

²⁰ And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay [his] head.

²² And ye shall be hated of all for my names sake: but he that endureth to the end, shall be saved.

²² But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of? They say, We are able. ²³ Jesus saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup: but to sit on my right hand, and my left, is not mine to give, but to those for whom it is prepared of my Father.

³³ Likewise, also whosoever he be of you, that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

¹³ Then Paul said unto us; What mean ye to weep, and to disturb mine heart? for I am not only willing to be bound, but also am ready to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ For verily when we were with you, we told you before, that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. ⁵ For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith; lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

¹³ Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up, by putting [you] in remembrance: ¹⁴ Knowing that shortly I must put off [this] my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

²⁷ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

³ Then Judas who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders; ⁴ Saying, I have sinned, in that I have betrayed righteous blood. And they said, What [is that] to us? see thou [to that]. ⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departe, and went and hanged himself. ⁶ And the chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. ⁷ And they took counsel and bought the potters field, to bury strangers in: ⁸ Wherefore that field was called, Echeldemach that is The field of blood unto this day.

¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ Which also was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in [their] tongue, Aceldamach, that is to say, The field of blood.

¹¹ For other foundation can no one lay, than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. ¹² Now if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones; wood, hay, stubble; ¹³ He that doeth this work shall be made manifest. For the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work, of what sort it is. ¹⁴ If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

⁴ For [it is] impossible for those who were once enlightned, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, ⁵ And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come; ⁶ And are fallen away, to renew them again unto repentance: seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put [him] to an open shame. ⁷ For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: ⁸ But that which beareth thorns and briers, [is] rejected, and [is] nigh unto cursing; whose end [is] to be burned.

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence, to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

³⁸ Now the just shall live by my faith: but if he draw back, my foul shall have no pleasure in him.

¹⁹ While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. ²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome; the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known [it], to return backward from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² It is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog [is] turned to his own vomit again; and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

⁸ Look to your selves, that ye lose not those things which ye have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward.

²⁵ Agree with thine adversary quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

⁵⁸ When thou are with thine adversary before a Magistrate, in the way, give diligence that thou mayst be delivered from him; lest he condemn thee with the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer shall cast thee into prison.

²⁰ For he was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but the people of both cities came with one accord to the King, and having made Blastus his chamberlain their friend, they desired peace; because their countries were nourished by the king's.

⁶ But he giveth more grace: wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. ⁷ Submit your selves therefore to God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you: ⁸ Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you: cleanse the hands, ye sinners, and purify the hearts, ye double-minded. ⁹ Be afflicted, and mourn, [and] weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and joy to heaviness. ¹⁰ Humble your selves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

¹¹ But when they had heard [this] they left all upon the land, and followed him.

²⁸ And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

²⁶ If any man comes to me, and hates not his father, and his mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

²² Now when Jesus heard [him,] he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: Sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens: and come, follow me. ²³ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

²⁸ And Peter said, Lo, we have left what was our own, and followed thee.

¹ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, ² And kept back [part] of the price, the wife also being privy; and brought a certain part, and laid [it] at the apostles feet. ³ But Peter said unto Ananias, Why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and for thee to keep back [part] of the price of the land? ⁴ While it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in [thine own] power? why hast thou conceived to do this wicked thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. ⁵ And when Ananias heard these words, he fell down immediately and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard [it].

¹⁹ Beseeching him, and saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I also lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. ²⁰ But Peter said unto him, The money go to perdition with thee, because thou hast thought that the free gift of God may he purchased with money. ²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: thy heart is not right before God. ²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung that I may win Christ,

¹³ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be troden underfoot of men.

⁴⁹ For every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. ⁵⁰ Salt [is] good: but if the salt shall have lost its saltness, wherewith shall it be seasoned? Have salt in your selves, and be at peace one with another.

⁶ Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

⁴ God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to the will of God. ⁵ For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. ⁶ But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him? ⁷ Thou madest him for a litle while lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: ⁸ Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

¹⁵ He that hath ears, let him hear.

⁹ Who hath ears to hear let him hear.

⁸ And other fell on honest and good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

⁴⁴ Put ye these sayings into your ears: for the Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men.

⁶ If any one abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather it, and cast [it] into the fire, and it is burned.

⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear, what the Spirit saith unto the seven churches, To him that overcometh wilt I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

¹¹ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, He that overcometh, shall not be hurt of the second death.

¹⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, To him that overcometh will I give of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth, saving he that receiveth it.
