¹ And it came to pass on the first sabbath after the second [day of the passover,] that he went through the cornfields: But his disciples began to pluck the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing with [their] hands. ² But certain of the Pharisees said unto him, see what thy disciples do on the sabbath, which is not lawful. ³ But Jesus answering said unto them, Have ye never read this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and those with him: ⁴ How he went into the house of God, and did eat the shew-bread, and gave also to them that were with him, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? ⁵ On the same day seeing one working on the sabbath, he said unto him, Man, If thou knowest what thou doest, thou art blessed: But if thou dost not know thou art [cursed,] and art a transgressor of the law. ⁶ And when he entered again into the synagogue on the sabbath, there was a man who had a withered hand, ⁷ The scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal, that they might find to accuse him. ⁸ But he knowing their thoughts, saith to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand in the midst. And he arose, and stood up. ⁹ But Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil?to save life, or to destroy [it]?But they held their peace. ¹⁰ And looking round about upon them all, in anger, he saith unto the man, stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored whole as the other also. And he said unto them, that the son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. ¹¹ And they were filled with madness; and reasoned one with another, how they might destroy him. ¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in an Oratory of God. ¹³ And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he called Apostles; ¹⁴ First Simon whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James, and John his brother; whom he also named Boanerges, which is sons of Thunder: And Philip, and Bartholomew, ¹⁵ And Matthew, and Thomas, who was also called Didymus; and James [the son] of Alpheus, and Simon called Zelotes, ¹⁶ And Judas [the son] of James, and Judas Scarioth, who also was the traitor. ¹⁷ And he came down with them and stood in a plain place, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judea and other cities, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; ¹⁸ And they that were vexed with unclean spirits were healed. ¹⁹ And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed all. ²⁰ And he again lifted up his eyes upon the disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. ²¹ Blessed [are] ye that hunger now[:] for ye shall be filled. ²² Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate [you,] and shall reproach [you,] and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of mans sake. ²³ Rejoyce ye in that day, and leap for joy: because your reward [is] great in heaven: In the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. ²⁴ But wo unto you that are rich: for ye have received your consolation. ²⁵ Wo unto you that are full: for ye shall hunger. Wo unto you that laugh now for ye shall mourn and weep, ²⁶ Wo unto you when all men shall speak well to you: In like manner did their fathers to the false prophets. ²⁷ But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you: ²⁸ Bless them that curse you, pray for them which despitefully use you. ²⁹ And unto him that smiteth thee on the [one] cheek, offer also to him the other: and from him that taketh away thy cloke, forbid not thy coat also. ³⁰ Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods, require [them] not again. ³¹ And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them. ³² For if ye love them who love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do this. ³³ And if ye do good to them who do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do the same. ³⁴ And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive again. ³⁵ But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, desponding nothing: and your reward shall be great and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful, and the evil. ³⁶ Be ye merciful, as your Father also is merciful. ³⁷ Judge not, that ye may not be judged: condemn not, that ye may not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: ³⁸ Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure ye measure shall be measured to you again. ³⁹ But he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind; shall they not both fall into the ditch? ⁴⁰ The disciple is not above the master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. ⁴¹ And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brothers eye, but perceived not the beam that is in thine eye? ⁴² Either how canst thou say to [thy] brother, Let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye; and behold a beam is in thine eye?Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote out of thy brothers eye. ⁴³ A good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruits: neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruits. ⁴⁴ Every tree is known by its own fruit: for of thorns figs are not gathered, nor of a bramble gather they grapes. ⁴⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of his heart, bringeth forth good: An evil man bringeth forth evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh, ⁴⁶ And why say ye to me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? ⁴⁷ Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: ⁴⁸ He is like a man who built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation upon a rock: but when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock, ⁴⁹ But he that heareth and doth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the ground, against which the stream did beat vehemently, and it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.

¹ At that time Jesus went on the sabbath-day through the corn, and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. ² But when the Pharisees saw them, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath. ³ But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did when he was hungry, and they that were with him, ⁴ How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shew-bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests? ⁵ Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbaths the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? ⁶ For I say unto you, that here is one greater than the temple. ⁷ But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. ⁸ For the Son of man is Lord of the sabbath.

² But when the Pharisees saw them, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath.

² Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

²³ Wo unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. ²⁴ Ye blind guides, who strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

²⁴ But the Pharisees said, Behold, why do thy diciples on the sabbath, that which is not lawful?

³³ But they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees; but thy disciples do none of these things.

⁷ The scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal, that they might find to accuse him. ⁸ But he knowing their thoughts, saith to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand in the midst. And he arose, and stood up. ⁹ But Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do evil?to save life, or to destroy [it]?But they held their peace.

⁹ And the man was made whole, rose up, and took up his couch and walked: and on that day was the sabbath. ¹⁰ And the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath-day; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy couch. ¹¹ He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up the couch and walk.

¹⁶ And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he had done these things on the sabbath.

¹⁴ And it was the sabbath when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. ¹⁵ Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. But He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see. ¹⁶ Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he observeth not the sabbath. But others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs? And there was a division among them.

³ But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did when he was hungry, and they that were with him, ⁴ How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shew-bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests? ⁵ Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbaths the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

⁴ And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning, made them male and female?

¹⁶ And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yes; have ye never read, Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

⁴² Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, he is become the head of the corner? this [head] is the Lord's doing, and is marvellous in our eyes.

³¹ But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

²⁵ And he answering said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? ²⁶ He went unto the house of God, and did eat the shew-bread, which is not lawful to eat, but for the priests, he gave also to them which were with him?

¹⁰ And have ye not read this scripture? The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

²⁶ And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I [am] the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

⁵ The blind receive their sight, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. ⁶ And blessed is he whosoever shall not be scandalized at me. ⁷ And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? ⁸ But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? bebold, they that wear soft [clothing], are in kings houses.

⁷ And there was a cloud overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease among the people.

⁹ And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue. ¹⁰ And behold, there was a man there who had his hand withered: and they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbaths? that they might accuse him. ¹¹ But he said unto them, What man is there among you, that shall have one sheep, and is shall fall into a pit on the sabbath, does he not lay hold on it, and lift [it] out? ¹² How much then is a man better than a sheep? wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbaths. ¹³ Then said he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand: and he stretched [it] forth; and it was restored whole, like the other. ¹⁴ Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

¹⁶ But he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and As the custom was, he went into the synagogue, on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.

³¹ And came down to Capharnaum a city near the sea, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim, and taught them on the sabbaths,

¹³ And he laid hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. ¹⁴ But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and said, unto the multitude. There are six days in which they ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath-day.

³ And Jesus answering, spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?

³ In these lay a multitude of impotent folk, blind, halt, withered, paralyticks waiting for the moving of the water.

¹⁶ Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he observeth not the sabbath. But others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs? And there was a division among them.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus to put him to death. ⁶⁰ But found it not: yea, and when many false witnesses came they found it not. At the last came two false witnesses

² And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath, that they might accuse him.

⁵³ And as [he] said these things unto them, before all the people, the Pharisees and lawyers began to urge [him] vehemently, and to confer with him about many things: ⁵⁴ Seeking to obtain some occasion against him, that they might have wherewith to accuse him.

¹⁴ But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and said, unto the multitude. There are six days in which they ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath-day.

¹ And it came to pass, as he entred into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath, that they watched him. ² And behold, there was a man before him who had the dropsie. ³ And Jesus answering, spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not? ⁴ And they held their peace. And he took and healed him, and let [him] go: ⁵ And said unto them, Which of you shall have a sheep or an ox fallen into a pit on the sabbath-day and will not straightway pull him out? ⁶ But they did not give him answer to these things.

²⁰ And going away they sent forth spies, which should feign themselves to be just men, that they might take hold of his words that so they might deliver him unto the governor.

¹⁰ And the Jews said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath-day; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy couch. ¹¹ He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up the couch and walk. ¹² They asked him: What man is he who said unto thee, Take up thy couch and walk? ¹³ He that was infirm knew not who it was; for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in the place. ¹⁴ Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. ¹⁵ The man therefore departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him whole. ¹⁶ And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he had done these things on the sabbath.

²⁶ They said therefore to him, What did he to thee? and how opened he thine eyes? ²⁷ But he said, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? ²⁸ But they reviled him, and said Thou art his disciple; We are Moses disciples. ²⁹ We know that God hath spoken unto Moses, and that God heareth not sinners. As for this man, we know not whence he is.

⁴ And Jesus knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Wherefore think ye evil in you hearts?

²² But Jesus knowing their reasonings, he answered and saith unto them, Why reason ye wicked things in your hearts?

²⁵ And needed not that any should testifie of man: for he knew what was in man.

⁴ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh when no one can work.

¹⁷ He saith unto him the third time, Simon [son] of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Lord, thou knowest all men; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

²⁴ But this I do not value, neither count I my life dear unto my self, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry of the word, which word I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify to Jews and Gentiles the gospel of the grace of God.

²⁶ For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him: Nor was this thing done in a comer.

²⁸ And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to us of salvation, and that of God,

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked, and opened unto the eyes of him of whom we speak.

¹ Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm your selves likewise with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sin;

²³ I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

¹² How much then is a man better than a sheep? wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbaths. ¹³ Then said he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand: and he stretched [it] forth; and it was restored whole, like the other.

⁴ And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? but they held their peace.

⁵⁶ And they went to another village.

¹⁹ Did not Moses give you the law? and none of you keepeth the law, Why do ye seek to kill me? ²⁰ The multitude answered and said, Thou hast a daemon: who seeketh to kill thee? ²¹ Jesus answered and said, I have done one work, and ye all marvel at it, ²² Moses gave unto you circumcision: not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers: and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man. ²³ If therefore a man on the sabbath receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; how are ye angry at me, because I have perfectly cured a man on the sabbath?

⁸ Jesus saith unto him, Rise, and take up the couch and walk.

¹⁴ Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. ¹⁵ But when Jesus knew [it], he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them.

⁴⁵ And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parable, they perceived that he spake of them.

²⁸ But all they in the synagogue, when they had heard these things, were filled with wrath,

¹ After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council together, and said, What do we? This man doth such miracles.

¹⁵ When they had commanded them to be carried away out of the council, they conferred among themselves.

¹⁹ But Peter answering with John, said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God, to hearken unto you more than unto God, Judge ye.

³³ When they heard [that,] they were cut, and took counsel to slay them.

⁵⁴ When they had heard him, they were cut to the hearts, and they gnashed [their] teeth at him.

¹¹ And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled [them] to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted [them] even unto strange cities.

⁶ But thou, when thou shalt pray, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret, shall reward thee.

²³ And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. ²⁴ But the ship was in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. ²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night, he went unto them walking on the sea.

³⁵ And in the morning a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed,

⁴⁶ And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

³⁴ Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. ³⁵ And he proceeded a little, and fell on his face, and prayed, that if it were possible this hour might pass from him. ³⁶ And he said, Abba, Father, All things [are] possible unto thee, take away this cup from me: nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt.

² Continue in prayer, and watch in the same.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications, with strong crying and tears, unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard, in that he feared;

³⁶ But when he saw the multitudes, he had compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

²⁸ And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, that ye which have followed me: In the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall your selves sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹³ And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. ¹⁴ And he ordained that they should be twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach the Gospel. ¹⁵ And he gave them power to heal diseases, and to cast out dæmons, ¹⁶ And Simon he sirnamed Peter. ¹⁷ And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James and he sirnamed them Boanerges, which is, the sons of thunder. ¹⁸ And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbæus, and Simon the Canaanite, ¹⁹ And Judas Scarioth, who also betrayed him: and they went into an house.

⁷ And when he had called unto him the twelve disciples, he sent them forth by two and two, giving them power [over] unclean spirits,

³⁰ And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, what they had done, and what they had taught.

¹ Then having called the twelve together, he gave them power and authority over every daemon, and to cure diseases. ² And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

⁴⁹ Therefore I send them prophets and apostles, and [some] of them they will slay and persecute:

³⁰ That ye may eat and drink at my table in the kingdom, and sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹³ And when they were come in[,] they went up into the upper room, where abode both Peter, John, and James, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James [the son] of Alpheus, Simon Zelotes, and Judas [the] Son of James.

²⁰ And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone;

¹¹ And he hath given some, apostles: and some, prophets: and some, evangelists: and some, pastors and teachers;

¹ Wherefore, Holy Brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and high priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; ² That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

¹ And there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moonunder her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

²⁰ Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and the saints and the apostles and prophets, for God hath avenged you on her.

¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and upon them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

¹⁸ And He passing by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon, called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

²¹ And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

³ Philip, and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the publican, James [the son] of Alpheus, and Lebbeus,

¹⁹ And when he had gone a little further, he saw James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.

²⁹ And when he was come out of the synagogue, he came into the house of Simon, and Andrew; with James and John.

³⁷ And suffered no one to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John his brother.

² And after six days, Jesus taketh with him, Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

³³ And he taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy,

⁸ But when Simon saw [it], he fell down to his feet saying, I beseech thee Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

¹⁰ But his partners were James and John the sons of Zebedee. But he said unto them, come and be not fishers of fish, for I will make you fishers of men.

⁴⁰ Now one of the two which heard John, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peters brother. ⁴¹ He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Mesias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. ⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is interpreted a Rock.

⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him of whom Moses did write in the law, and the prophets; Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Josephs.

⁵ When Jesus then lift up [his] eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith also unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat?

⁸ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peters brother, saith unto him,

⁸ Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

¹⁵ When therefore they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon [son] of John, lovest thou me more that these? Jesus (Read: Peter) saith unto him, Yes, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁶ the Lord saith to him the second time, Simon [son] of John, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yes, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁷ He saith unto him the third time, Simon [son] of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Lord, thou knowest all men; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. ¹⁸ Verily verily I say unto thee, When thou was young, thou girdedst thy self, and walkedst whither thou wouldest, but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands and other shall gird thee, and carry thee away whither thou wouldst not. ¹⁹ But these things spake he, signifying by what death he should glorifie God. And when he had spoken these things, he saith unto him, Follow me. ²⁰ But Peter turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, following; who also leaned on his breast at supper, and said unto him, Lord, who is he that betrayeth thee? ²¹ -- ²² Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he remain thus until I come, what [is that] to thee? Follow thou me. ²³ This saying therefore went out unto the brethren, and they supposed that that disciple should not die. And Jesus said not, that Thou shalt not die: but If I will that he tarry till I come, [what is that to] thee? ²⁴ This is the disciple who testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

¹ SYMEON Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us, through the righteousness of God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

⁹ And as Jesus went from thence, he saw a man named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

³ Philip, and Bartholomew, Thomas, and Matthew the publican, James [the son] of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, ⁴ And Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Scarioth, who also betrayed him.

¹⁴ And as he passed by, he saw [[read] Matthew] James [the son] of Alpheus sitting at the receit of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

¹⁸ And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbæus, and Simon the Canaanite,

²⁷ And coming again to the sea, he taught the multitude that followed him; and passing by he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, at the receit of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me.

¹⁶ Thomas, therefore, who is called Didymus, said unto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

²⁴ But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

¹³ And after they had held their peace, James arose up and said, Men, Brethren, hearken to me.

¹⁹ But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

⁹ And when Peter, James, and John, who seemed to be pillars, prceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we [should go] unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

¹ JAMES a Servant of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, called Judas Scarioth, went unto the chief priests, ¹⁵ And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of Silver. ¹⁶ And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him unto them.

³ Then Judas who had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders; ⁴ Saying, I have sinned, in that I have betrayed righteous blood. And they said, What [is that] to us? see thou [to that]. ⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departe, and went and hanged himself.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered, saying, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ He spake of Judas Scarioth [the son] of Simon: for he was to betray him, [being] one of the twelve.

²² Judas saith unto him, not Scarioth, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self unto us, and not unto the world?

¹⁶ Men, brethren, this scripture must needs be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was numbered among us, and who obtained the lot of this ministry. ¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ Which also was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in [their] tongue, Aceldamach, that is to say, The field of blood. ²⁰ For it is written in the book of psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no one dwell therein: and his office let another take.

²⁵ That he may take the place of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas fell, that he might go to his own place.

¹ JUDE the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are beloved by God the Father, the preserved and called in Jesus Christ:

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease among the people. ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were ill of divers diseases, and torments, and those who were possessed with dæmons, and those who were lunatick, and those who had the palsie; and he healed them all. ²⁵ And there followed him great multitudes of people, from Galilee, and Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and beyond Jordan.

²¹ Wo unto thee, Chorazin, wo unto thee, Bethsaida; for if the mighty works which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁵ But when Jesus knew [it], he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them.

¹⁴ And he went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion for them, and he healed their sick.

²¹ Then Jesus departed thence, and went away into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.

⁷ But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and Judea, ⁸ And Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and those that were beyond Jordan, and they about Tyre, and they about Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what things he did, came unto him. ⁹ And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him, because of the multitude, lest they should throng him. ¹⁰ For he had healed many, insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had strokes, and unclean Spirits. ¹¹ When therefore they saw him, they fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. ¹² And he earnestly charged them, that they should not make him known.

²⁴ And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre, and entred into an house; and would have no one know [it]; and he could not be hid. ²⁵ But a certain woman as soon as she heard of him, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, and came and fell at his feet: ²⁶ The woman was a Greek, a Phenician by nation, and she asked him that he would cast forth the dæmon out of her daughter. ²⁷ And he saith unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the childrens bread, and to cast [it] unto the dogs. ²⁸ And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the childrens crumbs. ²⁹ And he said unto her, For this saying, go thy way, the dæmon is gone out of thy daughter. ³⁰ And when she was gone away to her house, she found her daughter laid upon the bed, and the dæmon gone out. ³¹ And again departing from the coasts of Tyre, he came by Sidon, unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coast of Decapolis.

¹⁵ But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed of their infirmities.

¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in an Oratory of God.

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried after him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a dæmon.

¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for sometimes he falleth into the fire, and often into the water.

¹⁶ There came also a multitude [out] of the cities together round about unto Jerusalem, bringing the sick, and them who were vexed with unclean spirits: who were all healed.

²⁰ And behold, a woman who had a bloody flux twelve years, came behind [him], and touched the hem of his garment. ²¹ For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be cured.

³⁶ And besought him, that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made whole.

¹⁰ For he had healed many, insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had strokes, and unclean Spirits.

³⁰ And Jesus immediately knowing in himself, that virtue had gone out of him, and turning him about in the multitude, he said, Who touched my clothes?

⁵⁶ And withersoever he entred, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were cured.

²² And they come to Bethany, and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

¹⁷ And it came to pass on one of the days, as he was teaching, the Pharisees and teachers of the law came together, now they were come together out of every village of Galilee and Judea, to be healed.

⁴⁵ But Jesus knowing that virtue had gone out of him, asked Who touched me. But when all denyed, Peter and those that were with him said, Master, the multitudes throng thee and press thee, and thou sayst, who hath touched me? ⁴⁶ But he said some one hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone one of me.

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: ¹⁵ That every one who believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life.

¹⁵ Insomuch that they brought forth their sick into the streets, and laid [them] on beds and couches, that when Peter came, the shadow passing by, might overshadow some of them: for they were freed from every infirmity which every one had. ¹⁶ There came also a multitude [out] of the cities together round about unto Jerusalem, bringing the sick, and them who were vexed with unclean spirits: who were all healed.

¹² So that from his body were carried unto the sick, handkerchiefs or aprons also, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.

⁹ But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the virtues of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

² And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, ³ Blessed [are] the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Blessed [are] the meek: for they all inherit the earth. ⁵ Blessed [are] they that mourn; for they shall be comforted. ⁶ Blessed [are] they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled, ⁷ Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. ⁸ Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God. ⁹ Blessed [are] the peace-makers: for they shall be called the children of God. ¹⁰ Blessed [are] they who are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs shall be the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall persecute and revile you, and shall say all manner of evil against you for my sake. ¹² Rejoyce, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

⁵ The blind receive their sight, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

⁴⁹ And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren. ⁵⁰ For whosoever does the will of my Father who is in the heavens, the same is my brother, and father, and mother.

³⁴ Than shall the king say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the World.

³⁴ And he looked on those that were round about him, and said, Behold, my mother and brethren. ³⁵ For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me; I am sent to preach the gospel to the poor, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

²⁰ And he again lifted up his eyes upon the disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. ²¹ Blessed [are] ye that hunger now[:] for ye shall be filled. ²² Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate [you,] and shall reproach [you,] and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of mans sake. ²³ Rejoyce ye in that day, and leap for joy: because your reward [is] great in heaven: In the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. ²⁴ But wo unto you that are rich: for ye have received your consolation.

³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Fathers good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

²⁸ There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you thrust out.

¹⁵ And when one of them that sat with him, heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is here comforted, and thou art pained.

⁴⁸ Does any one of the rulers or of the Pharisees believe on him? ⁴⁹ But this multitude who knoweth not the law, are cursed.

²² Confirming the souls of the disciples, [and] exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation come into the kingdom of God.

²⁶ Therefore ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise Men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble [are chosen]. ²⁷ But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world, to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ²⁸ And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, to bring to nought things that are: ²⁹ That no flesh should glory in the presence of God.

²¹ Therefore let no man glory in men: for all things are yours: ²² Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; ²³ And ye Christ's; and Christ God's.

¹⁰ As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and possessing all things.

² How that in a great trial of affliction, the abundance of their joy, and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

⁶ And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord; having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

⁵ A manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

⁹ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: ¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

¹² Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which He hath promised to them that love him.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, hath not God chosen the poor of the world, rich in faith, and heirs of the promise, which he hath promised to them that love him?

⁹ I know thy tribulation, and poverty, but thou art rich, and the blasphemy of them who say they are Jews, and are not, but the synagogue of Satan.

⁴ Blessed [are] the meek: for they all inherit the earth.

⁶ Blessed [are] they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled,

⁵³ He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty.

²⁵ Wo unto you that are full: for ye shall hunger. Wo unto you that laugh now for ye shall mourn and weep,

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who he is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou woulst have asked him, and he would have given thee living water.

³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me, shall not hunger at all; and he that believeth on me, shall not thirst at all.

³⁷ In the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood, and cried, saying, If any one thirst, let him come and drink. ³⁸ He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

³⁵ And Jesus wept.

²⁰ Verily, verily I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament; The world shall rejoyce. Ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman when she is in travail, hath sorrow, because her day is come: but assoon as she has brought forth the child, she remembreth no more the sorrow, for joy that a man is born into the world.

¹ I say the truth in Christ Jesus, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, ² That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. ³ For I could wish that myself were an anathema from Christ, for my brethren and kinsmen who are according to the flesh:

¹¹ Even unto this present hour, we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;

⁴ Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them who are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we our selves also are comforted of God. ⁵ For as the suffering of Christ abounds in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. ⁶ And whether we be afflicted, [it is] for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: and our hope is stedfast on your account: or whether we be comforted, [it is] for your consolation and salvation;

¹⁰ For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. ¹¹ For behold, this self-same thing that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, clearing of your selves, yea, indignation, yea, fear, yea, vehement desire, yea, zeal, yea, revenge! in all things ye have approved your selves to be clear in this matter.

²⁷ In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

² My Brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; ³ Knowing [this,] that the trying of your faith worketh patience. ⁴ But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

⁶ Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations. ⁷ That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might befound unto praise, and honour, and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: ⁸ Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom though now ye see [him] not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable, and full of glory:

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

³ And I heard a great voice out of the throne, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them, [and be] their God.

¹⁸ And ye shall stand before governors for my sake, for a testimony to them, and the Gentiles.

²² And ye shall be hated of all for my names sake: but he that endureth to the end, shall be saved.

³⁹ He that findeth his life shall lose it: but he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.

⁹ Afterward they shall deliver you your selves up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten, and ye shall be set before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them. ¹⁰ And the gospel must first be preached unto all nations. ¹¹ And when they shall lead, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak; but whatsoever shall be given you in that Hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. ¹² And the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son: and children shall rise up against parents, and shall put them to death. ¹³ And ye shall be hated of all for my name: but he that endures unto the end, the same shall be saved.

¹⁵ So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed [him]. What therefore shall the Lord of the vineyard do?

¹⁷ And ye will be hated of all for my names sake.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testifie of it, that the works thereof are evil.

²² These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any one should confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. ²³ Therefore said his parents, He is of age, ask him. ²⁴ They called again him that was blind, a second time, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. ²⁵ He answered therefore, Whether he be a sinner I know not: one thing I know, that whereas I had been blind, now I see. ²⁶ They said therefore to him, What did he to thee? and how opened he thine eyes? ²⁷ But he said, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? ²⁸ But they reviled him, and said Thou art his disciple; We are Moses disciples.

³⁴ They answered him, and said, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? An they cast him out.

⁴² Nevertheless among the chief rulers also, many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess [him], lest they should be put out of the synagogue.

¹⁸ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me first, ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: Because ye were not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember the words that I said unto you, my servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have observed my saying, they will observe yours also. ²¹ But these things will they do unto you for my names sake, because they know not him that sent me.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: But the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth God service.

¹⁴ But I have given them thy word; and the world hateth them, because they are not of this world.

¹⁶ For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

²² And they hearkened as far as this word, and lift up their voice, and said, Take away such an one from the earth: for it is not fit he should live.

⁵ We have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of seditions among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

¹⁰ We [are] fools for Christ's sake, but ye [are] wise in Christ: we weak, but ye strong: ye honourable, but we despised. ¹¹ Even unto this present hour, we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? I speak as a fool, I [am] more: in labours more abundant, in prisons more frequent, in stripes above measure, in deaths oft. ²⁴ Of the Jews five times received I forty [stripes] save one. ²⁵ Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck; a night and a day I have been in the deep: ²⁶ In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

²⁸ And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to us of salvation, and that of God, ²⁹ For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; ³⁰ Having the same conflict which ye both saw in me, and now hear [to be] in me.

¹⁴ For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God, which in Judea are in Christ Jesus: for ye have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they of the Jews: ¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the prophets, and have persecuted us; and please not God, and are contrary to all men:

¹¹ Persecutions, afflictions which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconiun, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all God delivered me. ¹² Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, will suffer persecution.

¹⁹ For this [is] thank-worthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. ²⁰ For what glory [is it],if when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if when ye do well, and suffer, ye take it patiently; for this [is] acceptable with God.

¹⁴ But and if ye suffer for righteousness sake, happy [are ye]: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: ¹³ But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and power, and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or [as] a thief, or [as] an evil doer, or as an overseer in other mens matters. ¹⁶ Yet if [it be] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.

¹² Rejoyce, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

¹ Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father in the heavens. ² Therefore, when thou shalt do alms, thou shalt not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be glorified of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

³⁵ And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Again therefore, he sent other servants, more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.

³¹ Wherefore ye be witnesses unto your selves, that ye are the children of them who have killed the prophets. ³² Ye have also filled up the measure of your fathers. ³³ Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the judgment of Gehenna? ³⁴ Therefore behold, I will send prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucifie, and persecute from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the land, from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zacharias, son of Barachias, whom ye have slain between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say unto you, all these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them who are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth [her] chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

⁴¹ And it came to pass, that when Elisabet heard the Salutation of Mary, and Elisabet's babe leaped in her womb, and Elisabet was filled with the Holy Ghost.

⁴⁴ For lo, when the voice of thy salutation came to mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

³⁵ But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, desponding nothing: and your reward shall be great and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful, and the evil.

⁸ And he leaping up, stood, and walked, rejoicing, and entered with them into the temple, praising God.

⁴¹ The apostles therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for [his] name.

⁵¹ Ye stiff necked, and uncircumcised in hearts and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as did also your fathers, so [do] ye. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not they persecuted? and they have slain those who shewed before of the coming of the just one, of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

¹⁰ Said with a loud voice, I say to thee, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Stand up right on thy feet. [And] he presently [immediately] leaped and walked.

³ And not only this, but we glory in tribulations also, knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

²⁴ Who now rejoice in sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh, for his body's sake, who is the church:

⁵ A manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: ⁶ Seeing [it is] a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; ⁷ And to you who are troubled, rest with us; when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven, with his mighty angels,

¹² If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: if we deny [him], he also will deny us;

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. ⁸ Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing.

⁶ But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God, must believe that he is, and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

²⁶ Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

³² And what shall I say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and [of] Barak, and [of] Samson, and [of] Jephthae, [of] David also and Samuel, and [of] the prophets: ³³ Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, ³⁴ Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. ³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection. ³⁶ And others had trial of mockings, and scourgings, yea moreover, of bonds, and imprisonment. ³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheep-skins, and goat-skins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented: ³⁸ Of whom the world was not worthy, they wandered in deserts, and mountains, and dens and caves of the earth. ³⁹ And these all having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

² My Brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

¹³ But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear, what the Spirit saith unto the seven churches, To him that overcometh wilt I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

¹⁰ Fear not those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and may have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. ¹¹ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, He that overcometh, shall not be hurt of the second death.

¹⁷ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches, To him that overcometh will I give of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth, saving he that receiveth it.

²⁶ And he that overcometh, and observeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

⁵ He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

¹² Him that overcometh, will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and my new name.

⁷ He that overcometh shall inherit these things, and I will be his God and he shall be my son.

² Therefore, when thou shalt do alms, thou shalt not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be glorified of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

⁵ And when thou shalt pray, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand, and to pray in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

¹⁶ Moreover, when ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of all sort of covetousness; for life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which a man possesseth. ¹⁶ And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully. ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do,because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? ¹⁸ And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and make them greater;and there will I collect all my fruits. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods; Be merry. ²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: [then] whose shall those things be which thou hast provided; ²¹ --

¹⁹ But he spake also another parable: There was a rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day. ²⁰ But a certain beggar named Lazarus, was laid at his gate full of ulcers. ²¹ And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich mans table: moreover, the dogs came and licked his ulcers. ²² And it came to pass that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abrahams bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried. ²³ And in hades he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus resting in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried earnestly and said, Father Abraham have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is here comforted, and thou art pained.

²³ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. ²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to pass through a needles eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

¹⁷ Charge them that are the rich of this present age, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy:

⁶ But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment-seats?

¹ Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you]. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and the rust shall eat your flesh as fire: ye have heaped treasure together in the last days. ⁴ Behold the hire of the labourers, who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them who have reaped, are entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, ye have been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts in days of slaughter. ⁶ Ye have condemned [and] killed the just; he doth not resist you.

⁶ Reward her even as she hath rewarded, and double double, according to her works; in the cup which she hath filled, fill to her double. ⁷ How much she hath glorified her self, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, that I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. ⁸ Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burnt with fire: for strong [is] God who hath judged her.

¹¹ And when the king came to see the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment: ¹² And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou hither, not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless. ¹³ Then said the king to his servants, Take him by his hands and feet, and cast [him] into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth,

⁵³ And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.

²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: [then] whose shall those things be which thou hast provided;

¹⁴ And the Pharisees also being covetous, heard [this,] and they derided him[.] ¹⁵ And he said unto them, Ye are they who justifie your selves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is high amongst men, [is] abomination in the sight of God.

⁴ [Neither] filthiness, [nor] foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

¹² And I know both to be abased, and I know to abound: every where, and in all things I am instructed, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. ¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthneth me.

³ And when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

⁹ Be afflicted, and mourn, [and] weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and joy to heaviness.

¹⁷ Because thou sayst, I am rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

⁷ How much she hath glorified her self, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, that I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. ⁸ Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burnt with fire: for strong [is] God who hath judged her. ⁹ And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication, and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, ¹⁰ Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for one hour [is] thy judgment. ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her, for no man buyeth her merchandise any more:

¹⁵ Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves,

¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: Because ye were not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

¹⁸ For they that are such, serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words, deceive the hearts of the simple.

⁸ And then shall that wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: ⁹ Whose coming is after the working of Satan, with all power, and signs, and wonders of a lie. ¹⁰ And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness, in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth of Christ, that they might be saved. ¹¹ For this cause God sends them strong delusion, that they shall believe a lie: ¹² That they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

⁴ Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world, is the enemy of God.

¹ But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who privily will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction, ² And many will follow their filthiness, by reason of whom the glory of truth will be evil spoken of. ³ And through covetousness will they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their destruction slumbreth not.

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that in some measure escape from them who live in error: ¹⁹ While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

⁵ They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. ⁶ We are of God: he that knoweth God, heareth us; Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

³ And one of his heads, was, as it were, wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondred after the wild beast. ⁴ And they worshipped the dragon, because he gave power unto the wild beast: and they worshipped the wild beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the wild beast?and who is able to make war with him?

⁴³ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy: ⁴⁴ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that do spitefully use and persecute you: ⁴⁵ That ye may be children of your Father who is in the heavens; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

²⁴ And he said unto them, Take heed what you hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you.

²² Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate [you,] and shall reproach [you,] and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of mans sake.

⁸ And other fell on honest and good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁵ But that on the good ground, are they, who in a good heart, having heard the word of God, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Where is your faith?And they being afraid, wondred, saying one to another, What a man is this? for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

¹⁸ Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given;and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

³⁴ But they parted his raiment, and cast a lot.

⁶⁰ And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, saying, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. And Saul was consenting unto his death.

³⁸ Jesus of Nazareth; whom God anointed with the Holy Ghost, and with power: He went about doing good, and healing all that were brought into subjection by the devil: for God was with him.

¹⁷ Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. ¹⁹ Dearly beloved, avenge not your selves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine, I will repay, saith the Lord. ²⁰ If thine enemy hunger, feed him; and if he thirst, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. ²¹ Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹⁰ As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

¹⁵ See that none render evil for evil unto any man: but ever follow that which is good, among your selves, and to all men.

¹¹ Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good, is of God: He that doeth evil, hath not seen God.

⁴⁴ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that do spitefully use and persecute you:

²⁷ But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you:

⁵ And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and of the Jews, with their rulers, to use [them] despitefully, and to stone them,

¹⁴ Bless them who persecute you: bless, and curse not.

¹² And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless: being persecuted, we suffer it:

¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My Brethren, these things ought not so to be.

⁹ Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise, blessing; because ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

³⁹ But I say unto you, that ye resist not a wicked [man]: but whosoever will smite thee on thy cheek, turn to him the other also. ⁴⁰ To him that will sue thee at law, and take away thy coat, thou shalt let him have thy cloke also. ⁴¹ And whosoever compels thee to go a mile, go with him two more. ⁴² Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow, thou shalt not turn away.

⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face, and buffet him, and others smote [him] with the palms of their hands.

⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded his face, they struck him, and said, Prophesie, who is it that smote thee?

²² And when he had spoken these things, one of the officers who stood by, struck Jesus, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

² And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him, to smite him on the mouth.

⁷ Now there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another: why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer your selves to be defrauded?

²⁰ For ye suffer it, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour [you], if a man take [of you], if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.

³⁴ For ye had compassion of those in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in your selves that ye have a better and an enduring substance.

⁴² Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow, thou shalt not turn away. ⁴³ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy: ⁴⁴ But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that do spitefully use and persecute you: ⁴⁵ That ye may be children of your Father who is in the heavens; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. ⁴⁶ For if ye shall love them who love you, what reward will ye have? do not even the publicans the same? ⁴⁷ And if ye salute your brethren only, what do you that is extraordinary? do not even the heathens so? ⁴⁸ Ye shall therefore be perfect, even as your Father who is in the heavens is perfect.

¹² And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debters.

²⁷ Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. ²⁸ But the same servant went out, and found one of his follow-servants, who owed him an hundred denarii, and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay that thou owest. ²⁹ And his fellow-servant fell down, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee. ³⁰ And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

³⁵ So like-wise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother.

³⁸ Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure ye measure shall be measured to you again.

⁴¹ But rather give alms of such things as you have: and behold, all things shall be clean unto you.

³³ Sell that ye have, and give alms: provide your selves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens, that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

²² Now when Jesus heard [him,] he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: Sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens: and come, follow me.

³⁵ I have shewed you every thing, that so labouring ye ought to support the weak; and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

⁶ But thus, He who soweth sparingly, shall reap also sparingly: and he who soweth bountifully, shall reap bountifully. ⁷ Every man according as he purposeth in his heart; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God [is] able to make all grace abound towards you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹ As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor; his righteousness remaineth for ever. ¹⁰ Now he that ministreth seed to the sower, will both minister bread for your food, and will multiply your seed sown, and will increase the fruits of your righteousness. ¹¹ Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. ¹² For the administration of this service, not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; ¹³ Whiles by the experiment of this ministration, they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men. ¹⁴ And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.

²⁸ Let him that stole, steal no more; but rather let him labour; working with his own hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

¹² Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

³⁹ And the second [is] like unto this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self.

¹⁴ For all the law is fulfilled in you in one word, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self.

⁸ If ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self, ye do well. ⁹ But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. ¹⁰ For whosoever shall fulfil the whole law, and yet offend in one [law,] he is guilty of all. ¹¹ For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. ¹² Sospeak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. ¹³ For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; [and] let mercy rejoice against judgment. ¹⁴ What profit [is it,] my Brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? ¹⁵ If a brother or sister be naked, or destitute of daily food; ¹⁶ And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be you warmed, and filled: notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what profit is it?

⁴⁶ For if ye shall love them who love you, what reward will ye have? do not even the publicans the same? ⁴⁷ And if ye salute your brethren only, what do you that is extraordinary? do not even the heathens so?

⁴² Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow, thou shalt not turn away.

¹² Then said he also to him that invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not [thy] friends, nor thy brethren, nor neighbours, nor the rich, lest they also invite thee again, and a recompence be made thee. ¹³ But when thou makest a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind; ¹⁴ And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompence thee: for thou shalt be recompenced at the resurrection of the just.

⁷ And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest;and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father.

²⁷ But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you: ²⁸ Bless them that curse you, pray for them which despitefully use you. ²⁹ And unto him that smiteth thee on the [one] cheek, offer also to him the other: and from him that taketh away thy cloke, forbid not thy coat also. ³⁰ Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods, require [them] not again. ³¹ And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them.

³⁵ For by this shall all know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

⁸ Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so be ye my disciples.

¹⁷ Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave you rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness.

⁸ But God commendeth his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. ⁹ Much more then being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. ¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son: much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: Whosoever doeth not righteousness, is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. ¹¹ For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. ¹² Not as Cain was of that wicked one, and slew his brother: And wherefore slew he him? Because his own Works were evil, and his brothers righteous. ¹³ Marvel not, Brethren, if the world hate you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren: he that loveth [them] not abideth in death.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth God, is born of God, and knoweth God. ⁸ He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love. ⁹ In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ Herein is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son the propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another,

⁴⁸ Ye shall therefore be perfect, even as your Father who is in the heavens is perfect.

³¹ Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil-speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

¹ Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; ² And walk in love, as Christ also hath saved us, and hath given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet-smelling savour.

¹⁵ But as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; ¹⁶ Because it is written, Ye shall be holy, for I am holy.

⁷ Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

¹⁴ For, if ye shall forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ¹⁵ But if ye shall not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses.

¹ Judge not, that ye be not judged. ² For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. ³ And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brothers eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? ⁴ Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull the mote out of thine eye; and behold a beam is in thine own eye? ⁵ Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brothers eye.

³⁰ And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

³⁴ And his Lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormenters, till he should pay that which was due. ³⁵ So like-wise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother.

²⁵ And when ye stand, praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: and your Father also, who is in heaven will forgive you [your] trespasses.

³ Take heed to your selves: If thy brother shall trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he shall repent, forgive him. ⁴ And if he shall sin against thee seven times in a day, and seven times turn again to thee saying, I repent; forgive him.

¹ Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest, does the same thing. ² But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth, against them who commit such things.

³ Let not him that eateth, despise him that eateth not; let not him that eateth not, judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. ⁴ Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth: Yea, he shall be holden up: for God [is] able to make him stand.

¹⁰ But why dost thou judge thy brother in not eating, or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment-seat of God. ¹¹ For it is written, I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So every one of us shall render an account of himself to God. ¹³ Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling-block, or an occasion to fall in the brother's way. ¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of it self: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean. ¹⁵ For if thy brother be grieved with meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. ¹⁶ Let not then our good be evil spoken of.

³ But with me it is a very small thing, that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. ⁴ For I know nothing by my self, yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. ⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come; who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every one have praise of God.

⁴ Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not it self, is not puffed up, ⁵ Doth not behave it self unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, ⁶ Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth: ⁷ Covereth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

³² Be ye therefore kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us.

¹³ Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye.

¹¹ Speak not evil one of another, my brethren. He that speaketh evil of a brother, or judgeth a brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. ¹² There is one lawgiver and judge, who is able to save, and to destroy: who art thou that judgest thy neighbour?

⁹ Grudge not one against another, my brethren, lest ye be judged: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

² For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink to one o the least of these, a cup of cold water, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, his reward shall not be lost.

³⁰ Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods, require [them] not again.

¹⁴ But by an equality, [that] now at this time your abundance [may] be for their want, that their abundance also may be for your want, that there may be equality, ¹⁵ As it is written, He that [had] much, had nothing over; and he that [had] little, had no lack.

⁶ But thus, He who soweth sparingly, shall reap also sparingly: and he who soweth bountifully, shall reap bountifully. ⁷ Every man according as he purposeth in his heart; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God [is] able to make all grace abound towards you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

¹⁷ Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. ¹⁸ But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus what was sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God. ¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to the riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.

¹³ For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; [and] let mercy rejoice against judgment.

⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, who art, and wast, the Holy one, because thou hast judged thus: ⁶ For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; they are worthy.

¹⁴ Let these that are blind alone: they be blind leaders. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

¹⁶ Wo unto you, ye blind guides, who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debter. ¹⁷ Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold or the temple that hath sanctified the gold? ¹⁸ And whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoever sweareth by he gold that is upon it, he is a debter. ¹⁹ Ye fools and blind: for whether [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? ²⁰ Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. ²¹ And whoso shall have sworn by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that hath dwelt therein. ²² And he that shall have sworn by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. ²³ Wo unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. ²⁴ Ye blind guides, who strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. ²⁵ Wo unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. ²⁶ Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that within the cup, that the outside of it may be clean also.

³³ Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the judgment of Gehenna?

¹⁹ And art confident that thou thy self art a guide of the blind, a light of them who are in darkness,

³ If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholsome words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; ⁴ He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof are begotten envyings, strifes, railings, evil surmisings, ⁵ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and turning from the truth, supposing that gain is godliness:

¹³ But evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

²⁴ The disciple is not above the master, nor the servant above the lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as the master, and the servant as his lord: if they shall call the master of the House Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?

¹⁵ Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye compass sea and land, that ye may make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of Gehenna than your selves.

¹⁶ Verily, verily I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord, neither he that is sent, greater than he that sent him.

²⁰ Remember the words that I said unto you, my servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have observed my saying, they will observe yours also.

⁷ So when they continued asking, he lift up himself and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

⁴⁰ But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which he hath heard of God: this did not Abraham. ⁴¹ But ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, God, ⁴² Jesus therefore said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth, and came from God; for I came not of my self but he sent me. ⁴³ Why do ye not understand my speech? because ye cannot hear my word. ⁴⁴ Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do: he was a murderer of men from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

²¹ Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thy self? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? ²² Thou that sayst a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? ²³ Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? ²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles, through you, as it is written.

²⁴ For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

²² The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. ²³ But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

¹³ But wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to enter. ¹⁴ [OMITTED TEXT] ¹⁵ Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye compass sea and land, that ye may make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of Gehenna than your selves.

⁷⁵ And Peter remembred the word of Jesus, who said, Before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

¹⁵ But the Lord Jesus answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite; doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox and ass from the stall, and lead [him] away to watering?

³² But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; But when thou art converted, convert also thy brethren.

³⁸ But Peter saith unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: thy heart is not right before God.

⁹ And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. ¹⁰ And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I[am here] Lord. ¹¹ And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the street, which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas, for [one] whose name is Saul, of Tarsus: for behold he prayeth. ¹² And he hath seen a man named Ananias, coming in, and putting [his] hands on him, that he might receive his sight. ¹³ Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: ¹⁴ And here he hath Authority from the chief priests, to bind all that call on thy name. ¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. ¹⁶ For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. ¹⁷ And Ananias went away and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord hath sent me, Jesus that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. ¹⁸ And there fell from his eyes as it had been scales; and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. ¹⁹ And when he had received meat he was strengthened. Then was he certain days with the disciples who were at Damascus. ²⁰ And straightway he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

¹⁰ And said, O full of all subtilty and all knavery, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the ways of the Lord which are right?

²¹ Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thy self? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? ²² Thou that sayst a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? ²³ Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? ²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles, through you, as it is written. ²⁵ For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. ²⁶ Therefore, if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? ²⁷ And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? ²⁸ For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; neither circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: ²⁹ But he [is] a Jew, who is one inwardly; and circumcision [is] of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is not of men but of God.

¹⁸ And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

¹⁰ Ye are witnesses, and God, how holily, and justly, and unblameably we behaved our selves among you that believe: ¹¹ As you know, how we exhorted and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father his children, ¹² That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

²¹ If a man therefore purge himself from those, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, meet for the masters use, prepared unto every good work.

¹⁰ I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds: ¹¹ Who in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me.

⁹ But he that lacketh these things, is blind, and cannot see far off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

¹⁷ Because thou sayst, I am rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. ¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayst be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayst be clothed, and the shame of thy nakedness may not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayst see.

¹⁰ Now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: therefore every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

¹⁶ Ye shall know them by their fruits: Do men gather a grape of thorns, or figs of thistles? ¹⁷ Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruits: but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruits. ¹⁸ [OMITTED TEXT] ¹⁹ Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down and cast into the fire. ²⁰ Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

³³ Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by the fruit.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, laciviousness, ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hared, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ²³ Meekness, temperance, chastity: against such there is no law.

¹¹ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men: ¹² Teaching us, that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; ¹³ Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

¹² Can the fig-tree, my brethren, bear olive-berries? either a vine, figs? so neither [can] salt water make fresh.

¹² These are those who are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with them, feeding themselves without fear: clouds without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withered, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

³⁴ O generations of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh good things. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure, bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure, bringeth forth evil things. ³⁶ But I say unto you, That every idle word that men do speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by thy words thou shalt be justified, or by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

³⁸ He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

³ But Peter said unto Ananias, Why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and for thee to keep back [part] of the price of the land?

¹⁹ Beseeching him, and saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I also lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. ²⁰ But Peter said unto him, The money go to perdition with thee, because thou hast thought that the free gift of God may he purchased with money. ²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: thy heart is not right before God. ²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. ²³ For I see that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and the bond of iniquity.

¹³ Their throat [is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips: ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

⁶ For God commanded the light to shine out of darkness, [and] hath shined in our hearts, to illuminate the knowledge of his glory, in the person of Jesus Christ. ⁷ But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.

²⁹ Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to edification of faith: that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

³ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named amongst you, as becometh saints. ⁴ [Neither] filthiness, [nor] foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

¹⁹ Speaking to your selves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord,

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.

⁶ Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

¹⁰ For this [is] my covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

⁵ In like manner also the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold how little a fire how great a matter it kindleth. ⁶ And the tongue [is] a fire; a world of iniquity, [so] is the tongue amongst our members, It defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of gehenna. ⁷ For every kind of beasts, and of birds, of serpents, and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: ⁸ But the tongue can no man tame; an unquiet evil, full of deadly poison.

¹⁵ To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly, of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens: but he that doeth the will of my father who is in the heavens, he shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens. ²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out dæmons? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ²³ And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me all ye that work iniquity.

¹¹ Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

²⁴ Then he who had received the one talent, came and said, Lord, I knew that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering from whence thou hast not strawed:

⁴⁴ Then shall they answer, saying, Lord, When saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee.

²⁵ When once the master of the house shall be come in, and shut the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence you are: ²⁶ Then shall ye begin to say, Lord, we have eat and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. ²⁷ And he shall say, I tell you, I never knew you: depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

¹³ Ye call me Master, and Lord: and ye say well; for I am. ¹⁴ If I then [your] Lord and Master, have washed your feet, how much more should ye do it: ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. ¹⁶ Verily, verily I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord, neither he that is sent, greater than he that sent him. ¹⁷ If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

⁷ Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

²⁴ Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doth them, he shall be likened unto a wise man who built his house upon a rock: ²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon the house: and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock, ²⁶ And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: ²⁷ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

²⁸ Come unto me all that labour, and you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

⁵⁰ For whosoever does the will of my Father who is in the heavens, the same is my brother, and father, and mother.

⁵ While he yet spake, behold a bright cloud over-shadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

¹³ They on the rock, when they hear, receive the word with joy;these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

²⁸ But he said, Yea, rather blessed [are] they indeed that hear the word of God and keep it.

²⁶ If any man comes to me, and hates not his father, and his mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

⁴⁰ And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life eternal.

³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, will come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast away.

⁴⁴ No one can come to me, except the father who hast sent me, draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Everyone that heareth, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

⁵² The Jews therefore said unto him, Now we have known that thou hast a daemon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayst, If a man observe my saying, he shall never taste of death.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

¹⁷ If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

¹⁵ If ye love me, keep my commandments.

²¹ He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father: and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him. ²² Judas saith unto him, not Scarioth, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self unto us, and not unto the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and I will come unto him, and make my abode with him. ²⁴ He that loveth me not, will not keep my sayings: and the word which you hear, is not mine, but his who sent me.

⁹ As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: abide ye in my love. ¹⁰ If ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I also have kept my Fathers commandments, and abide in his love. ¹¹ But these things have I spoken unto you, that my joy in you might remain, and your joy might be full. ¹² This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love hath no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. ¹⁴ For ye are my friends, if ye shall do what I command you.

⁷ To them who by patient continuance in well-doing, seek for glory, and honour, and immortality; eternal life: ⁸ But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness; wrath and indignation; ⁹ Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that doth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile. ¹⁰ Glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile.

⁹ And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ If any one be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: ²⁴ For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [in it,] being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

¹⁷ Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

⁴ To whom coming, a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, precious,

¹⁰ Wherefore the rather, Brethren, give diligence that by your good works you may make your comfort and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall not fall:

²⁹ If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one also that doeth righteousness, is born of him.

⁷ Little children let not any one deceive you: He that doth righteousness, is righteous, even as he is righteous:

¹⁴ Blessed [are] they that wash their garments, that they may have power over the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

²⁵ And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon the house: and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock, ²⁶ And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand:

³³ These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? tribulation, or distress, persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. ³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors on account of him that loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angel, nor authority, nor principality, nor power, nor things present, nor things to come,

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master-builder, I laid the foundation; another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereon. ¹¹ For other foundation can no one lay, than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. ¹² Now if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones; wood, hay, stubble; ¹³ He that doeth this work shall be made manifest. For the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work, of what sort it is. ¹⁴ If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. ¹⁵ If any man's work shall be burnt, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so, as through a fire.

⁵⁵ O death, where [is] thy sting? O death, where [is] thy victory? ⁵⁶ The sting of death [is] sin and the strength of sin [is] the law. ⁵⁷ But thanks [be] to God who hath given us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁵⁸ Therefore, my loved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

¹⁹ Nevertheless, the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.

⁴ To whom coming, a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, precious, ⁵ Ye also as lively stones, are built upon them a spiritual house, unto an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. ⁶ Wherefore alsoit is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat; the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burnt up ¹¹ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness, ¹² Looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we look for new heavens and a new earth, and his promises, wherein dwellet righteousness. ¹⁴ Wherefore, Beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent, that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless:

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in him; that if he shall appear, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

²⁴ Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

¹⁴ the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places: ¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the chief captains, and the rich men, and the strong men, and every bond-man and free-man hid themselves in the dens, and in the rocks of the mountains; ¹⁶ And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: ¹⁷ For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, the great and the small, stand before the throne; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which s [that] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead, those that were in it; and death and hades delivered up the dead, those that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. ¹⁴ And death and hades were cast into the lake of fire: This is the second death, the lake of fire. ¹⁵ And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.

⁴³ When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. ⁴⁴ Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth his house empty; swept also, and garnished. ⁴⁵ Then goeth he, and taketh with him self seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and his last state is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

²⁰ But he that received the seed in the rocky Places, the same is he that heareth the word, and presently with joy receiveth it: ²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, presently he is offended. ²² He also that received seed among the thorns, is he that heareth the word: and the care of the age, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

²⁹ He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented and went into the vineyard. ³⁰ But he came to the other, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, Sir; and went not.

³ All therefore whatsoever they say to you observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

¹⁰ And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

¹⁷ And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward when affliction and persecution ariseth for the words sake, immediately they will be scandalized.

⁴⁶ And why say ye to me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

⁵ A sower went out to sow seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and it was trodden down, and the fowls devoured it. ⁶ And other fell upon a rock, and when it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. ⁷ And some fell in the midst of thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it,

¹² But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for Sodom in the kingdom of God than for that city, ¹³ Wo unto thee, Chorazin, and Bethsaida: for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had long ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. ¹⁴ But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon, than for you. ¹⁵ And thou, Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted to heaven?or shalt thou be depressed to hades. ¹⁶ He that heareth you, heareth me; But he that heareth me, heareth him that sent me.

²⁴ But when the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through the waters [dry places] seeking rest: and not finding [it,] he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. ²⁵ And when he cometh, he findeth [it s]wept [and] garnished. ²⁶ Then he goeth, and taketh seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in, and dwell: and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.

⁴⁷ And that servant who knew his lords will, but did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes.]

¹⁴ But the citizens hated [him,] and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

²⁷ But these mine enemies which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. And cast ye the unprofitable servant unto the outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

² Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bear more fruit.

²⁹ I know that after my departing, grievous wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

⁵ For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith; lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there is not another sacrifice left still to be offered. ²⁷ But a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. ²⁸ He that despised Moses law, died without mercy and tears, under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath troden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

¹⁷ Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. ¹⁸ Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have orks: shew me thy faith without works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. ¹⁹ Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the daemons also believe, and tremble. ²⁰ But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Seest then how faith cooperated with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. ²⁵ Likewise also, was not Rahab the innkeeper justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? ²⁶ For as the body without the Spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

⁵ And do ye give all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; ⁶ And to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness; ⁷ And to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, charity. ⁸ For if these things be present with you, and abound, they make [you] neither barren, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he that lacketh these things, is blind, and cannot see far off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome; the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

³ And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. ⁴ He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, the truth is not in him.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us: for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us; but that they might be made manifest, that they were not all of us.
