1 Peter 3 Cross References - Williams

1 You married women, in the same way, must be submissive to your husbands, so that, if any of them do not believe the message, they may be won over without a word through the living of the wives, 2 when they see how chaste and respectful you are. 3 Your adornments must be not of an external nature, with braids of hair or ornaments of gold, or changes of dress, 4 but they must be of an internal nature, the character concealed in the heart, in the imperishable quality of a quiet and gentle spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God. 5 For this is the way the pious women of olden times, who set their hope on God, used to adorn themselves. 6 They were submissive to their husbands, as Sarah, for example, obeyed Abraham and called him master. You have become true daughters of hers, if you practice doing right and cease from every fear. 7 You married men, in the same way, must live with your wives in an intelligent consideration of them; you must show them deference, too, as the weaker sex, as they share with you the gracious gift of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. 8 Finally, you must all live in harmony, be sympathetic, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble, 9 never returning evil for evil or abuse for abuse, but blessing instead, because it was for this that you were called, to obtain the blessing of heirs. 10 For "Whoever wants to enjoy life and see delightful days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit. 11 He must turn, too, away from evil and do right; He must seek peace and follow it, 12 Because the eyes of the Lord are on upright men, and His ears listen to their pleading cries, but His face is against them that do wrong." 13 And who is it that will harm you if you are enthusiastic to do right? 14 Instead, you are happy, even if you should suffer for doing right. Never be afraid of their threats, and never be disturbed, 15 but in your hearts be consecrated to Christ as Lord, and always be ready to make your defense to anyone who asks a reason for the hope you have. But you must do it in gentleness and reverence, 16 and keep your conscience clear, so that those who bitterly abuse your excellent conduct as Christians may be ashamed of slandering you. 17 For it is better, if the will of God should plan it so, to suffer for doing right than for doing wrong. 18 For Christ Himself, once for all, died for our sins, the Innocent for the guilty to bring us to God, being put to death in physical form but made alive in the Spirit, 19 in which He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20 who had once been disobedient, while God's patience was awaiting in the days when Noah was preparing an ark, in which a few people-- eight, to be exact -- were brought safely through the water. 21 Baptism, which corresponds to this figure, now saves you, too -- I do not mean the mere removal of physical stains, but the craving for a clear conscience toward God -- through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone to heaven and is now at God's right hand, with angels, heavenly authorities and powers made subject to Him.

Therefore, what God has joined together man must stop separating." 7 Then they asked Him, "Why did Moses command us to give a written divorce charge, and in this way to divorce a wife?" 8 He answered them, "It was because of your moral perversity that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but it was not so from the beginning. 9 I tell you, whoever divorces his wife for any other cause than her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery."

Always see to it that your affairs are right in the sight of everybody. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live in peace with everybody. 19 Stop taking revenge on one another, beloved, but leave a place for God's anger, for the Scripture says, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will pay them back, says the Lord." 20 Do the opposite. If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink, for if you act in this way, you will heap burning coals upon his head! 21 Stop being conquered by evil, but keep on conquering evil with good.

Romans 13:3

3 For civil authorities are not a terror to the man who does right, but they are to the man who does wrong. Do you want to have no dread of the civil authorities? Then practice doing right and you will be commended for it.

Romans 14:17

17 For the kingdom of God does not consist in what we eat and drink, but in doing right, in peace and joy through the Holy Spirit;

Romans 14:19

19 So let us keep on pursuing the things that make for peace and our mutual upbuilding.

Romans 15:5

5 May God, who gives men patient endurance and encouragement, grant you such harmony with one another, in accordance with the standard which Christ Jesus sets,

1 Corinthians 1:10

10 Now I beg you all, brothers, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, to be harmonious in what you say and not to have factions among you, but to be perfectly harmonious in your minds and judgments.

1 Corinthians 4:6

6 Now, brothers, for your sakes I have applied all this to Apollos and myself, that from us as illustrations you might learn the lesson, "Never go beyond what is written," so that you might stop boasting in favor of one teacher against another.

1 Corinthians 4:12-13

12 We have worked hard with our own hands for a living. When abused by people, we bless them. When persecuted, we patiently bear it. 13 When we are slandered by them, we try to conciliate them. To this very hour we have been made the filth of the world, the scum of the universe!

1 Corinthians 7:3

3 The husband must always give his wife what is due her, and the wife too must do so for her husband.

1 Corinthians 7:16

16 For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

1 Corinthians 9:19-22

19 Yes, indeed, though I am free from any human power, I have made myself a slave to everybody, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I have become like a Jew for the winning of Jews; to men under the law, like one under the law, though I am not under the law myself, to win the men under the law; 21 to men who have no written law, like one without any law, though I am not without God's law but specially under Christ's law, to win the men who have no written law. 22 To the overscrupulous I have become overscrupulous, to win the overscrupulous; yes, I have become everything to everybody, in order by all means to save some of them.

1 Corinthians 11:3

3 But I want you to realize the fact that Christ is the Head of every man, that the husband is the head of the wife, and that God is the Head of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:13

13 For by one Spirit all of us, Jews or Greeks, slaves or freemen, have been baptized into one body, and were all imbued with one Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:22-24

22 No, on the contrary, even those parts of the body that seem to be most delicate are indispensable, 23 and the parts of it we deem devoid of honor we dress with special honor, and our ill-shaped parts receive more careful attention, 24 while our well-shaped parts do not want for anything. Yes, God has perfectly adjusted the body, giving great honor to its apparently inferior parts,

1 Corinthians 12:26

26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it. If one part receives an honor, all the parts can share its joy.

1 Corinthians 14:1

1 Keep on pursuing love, but still keep cultivating your spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophesying.

1 Corinthians 14:34

34 Women must keep quiet in the churches, for no permission is given them to speak. On the contrary, they must take a subordinate place, just as the law says.

1 Corinthians 15:24

24 After that comes the end, when He will turn the kingdom over to God His Father, when He will put an end to all other government, authority, and power;

2 Corinthians 1:12

12 For my boast is this, to which my conscience testifies, that before the world, but especially before you, I have acted from pure motives and in sincerity before God, not depending on worldly wisdom but on God's unmerited favor.

2 Corinthians 1:24

24 Not that we are trying to lord it over your faith, but we are workers with you to promote your joy, for in your faith you are standing firm.

2 Corinthians 2:15-16

15 Indeed, I am the fragrance of Christ to God, alike for those who are being saved and for those who are perishing; 16 to the one a deadly perfume that leads to death, to the other a living perfume that leads to life.

2 Corinthians 4:2

2 On the other hand, I have renounced all underhanded, disgraceful methods; I neither practice cunning nor do I tamper with God's message, but by clear and candid statements of truth I try to commend myself to every human conscience in God's sight.

2 Corinthians 4:16

16 So I never give up; instead, although my outer nature is wasting away, my inner nature is constantly renewed from day to day.

2 Corinthians 5:21

21 He made Him who personally knew nothing of sin to be a sin-offering for us, so that through union with Him we might come into right standing with God.

2 Corinthians 7:1

1 So, since we have such promises as these, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that defiles our bodies and spirits, and in reverence to God carry on our consecration to completeness.

2 Corinthians 10:1

1 Now I appeal to you in person, by the gentleness and fairness of Christ, I, Paul, who am so "condescending when face to face with you, but so courageous toward you when far away!"

2 Corinthians 12:10

10 So I most happily boast about my weaknesses, so that the strength of Christ may overshadow me. That is why I take such pleasure in weaknesses, insults, distresses, persecution, and difficulties, which I endure for Christ's sake, for it is when I am consciously weak that I am really strong.

2 Corinthians 13:4

4 For though He was crucified in weakness, yet by the power of God He goes on living. We too, indeed, show weakness through our union with Him, yet by the power of God we too shall be alive toward you through fellowship with Him.

Galatians 1:4

4 who gave Himself for our sins, to save us from the present wicked world in accordance with the will of our God and Father;

Galatians 3:13

13 Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us -- for the Scripture says, "Cursed be everyone who is hanged on a tree" --

Galatians 3:27

27 For all of you who have been baptized into union with Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Galatians 4:22-26

22 For the Scripture says that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave girl, the other by a free woman. 23 But the child of the slave girl was born in the ordinary course of nature, while the child of the free woman was born to fulfill the promise. 24 This is spoken as an allegory. For these women are two covenants, one coming from Mount Sinai, bearing children that are to be slaves; 25 that is, Hagar (and Hagar means Mount Sinai, in Arabia) and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for Jerusalem is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

Galatians 5:22

22 But the product of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. There is no law against such things.

Galatians 6:10

10 So then whenever we have an opportunity, let us practice doing good to everybody, but especially to the members of the family of faith.

Ephesians 1:20-21

20 when He raised Christ from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in heaven, 21 far above every other government, authority, power, and dominion, yea, far above every other title that can be conferred, not only in this world but in the world to come.

Ephesians 2:16-18

16 to reconcile them both to God with His cross after He had killed the hostility through it. 17 When He came, He brought the good news of peace for you who were far away and for you who were near; 18 for it is by Him through one Spirit that both of us now have an introduction to the Father.

Ephesians 3:6

6 that the heathen through union with Christ Jesus are fellow-heirs with the Jews, are members with them of the same body, and sharers with them of the promise through the good news,

Ephesians 4:2

2 with perfect humility and gentleness, with patience, lovingly bearing with one another,

Ephesians 4:22-24

22 to lay aside, with your former way of living, your old self which is on the way to destruction in accordance with its deceptive impulses; 23 and to have a new attitude of mind 24 and put on the new self which has been created in the likeness of God, which fruits in right and holy living inspired by the truth.

Ephesians 4:30

30 You must stop offending the Holy Spirit of God by whom you have been stamped for the day of redemption. 31 You must remove all bitterness, rage, anger, loud threats, and insults, with all malice. 32 You must practice being kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has graciously forgiven you.

Ephesians 5:1

1 So you must keep on following God's example, as dearly loved children of His,

Ephesians 5:22-24

22 You married women must continue to live in subordination to your husbands, as you do to the Lord, 23 for a husband is the head of his wife, just as Christ is the Head of the church, His body, and Saviour of it. 24 Just as the church is subject to Christ, so the married women in everything must be subject to their husbands. 25 You married men must love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 to consecrate her, after cleansing her through His word, as pictured in the water bath,

Ephesians 5:26

26 to consecrate her, after cleansing her through His word, as pictured in the water bath, 27 that He might present the church to Himself as a splendid bride without a blot or wrinkle or anything like it, but to be consecrated and faultless. 28 This is the way married men ought to love their wives, as they do their own bodies. The married man who loves his wife is really loving himself,

Ephesians 5:33

33 But each one of you married men must love his wife as he loves himself, and the married woman, too, must respect her husband.

Ephesians 6:5

5 You slaves must practice obedience to your earthly masters, with reverence and awe, with sincerity of heart, as you would obey Christ,

Ephesians 6:18

18 Keep on praying in the Spirit, with every kind of prayer and entreaty, at every opportunity, be ever on the alert with perfect devotion and entreaty for all God's people,

Philippians 1:27

27 Only you must practice living lives that are worthy of the good news, so that whether I come and see you or stay away, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, and that with one purpose you are continuing to cooperate in the fight for faith in the good news.

Philippians 1:29

29 For it has been graciously granted to you for Christ's sake, not only to trust in Him but also to suffer for Him,

Philippians 3:16

16 However, we must continue to live up to that degree of success that we have already reached.

Philippians 3:20

20 But we are citizens of the republic in heaven, from which we are eagerly waiting for our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:8-9

8 Now, brothers, practice thinking on what is true, what is honorable, what is right, what is pure, what is lovable, what is high-toned, yes, on everything that is excellent or praiseworthy. 9 Practice the things you learned, received, and heard from me, things that you saw me do, and then the God who gives us peace will be with you.

Colossians 1:5

5 because of your hope of what is laid up for you in heaven. Long ago you heard of this hope through the message of the good news

Colossians 1:21-22

21 So you, who were once estranged from Him, and hostile in disposition as shown by your wrongdoings, He has now reconciled 22 by His death in His human body, so as to present you consecrated, faultless, and blameless in His presence, 23 if indeed you continue well grounded and firm in faith and never shift from the hope inspired by the good news you heard, which has been preached all over the world, and of which I, Paul, have been made a minister.

Colossians 1:27

27 to whom God has chosen to make known how glorious are the riches of this open secret among the heathen, namely, Christ in you the hope of your glorification.

Colossians 2:12

12 for you were buried with Him in baptism and raised to life with Him through your faith in the power of God who raised Him from the dead.

Colossians 3:1

1 So if you have been raised to life in fellowship with Christ, keep on seeking the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

Colossians 3:3

3 for you have died, and your life is now hidden in God through your fellowship with Christ.

Colossians 3:9-10

9 Stop lying to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its practices, 10 and have put on the new self which is in the process of being made new in the likeness of its Creator, so that you may attain a perfect knowledge of Him.

Colossians 3:12

12 So as God's own chosen people, consecrated and dearly loved, you must once for all clothe yourselves with tenderheartedness, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience; you must keep on

Colossians 3:15

15 Let the peace that Christ can give keep on acting as umpire in your hearts, for you were called to this state as members of one body. And practice being thankful.

Colossians 3:18

18 You married women must continue to live in subordination to your husbands, for this is your Christian duty. 19 You husbands must continue to love your wives and stop being harsh with them.

Colossians 3:22

22 Slaves, practice obedience to your earthly masters in everything, not as though they were watching you and as though you were merely pleasing men, but with sincerity of heart, because you fear the Lord.

Colossians 4:5

5 Practice living prudently in your relations with outsiders, making the most of your opportunities. 6 Always let your conversation be seasoned with salt, that is, with winsomeness, so that you may know how to make a fitting answer to everyone.

1 Thessalonians 4:4

4 that each man among you should learn to take his own wife out of pure and honorable motives,

1 Thessalonians 4:11

11 also keep up your ambition to live quietly, to practice attending to your own business and to work with your own hands, as we directed you,

1 Thessalonians 5:15

15 Take care that none of you ever pays back evil for evil, but always keep looking for ways to show kindness to one another and everybody.

2 Thessalonians 1:8

8 in a flame of fire, who will take vengeance on those who do not know God, that is, those who will not listen to the good news of our Lord Jesus.

2 Thessalonians 3:12

12 Now on the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ we charge and exhort such persons to do their own work with quiet and eat their own bread.

1 Timothy 1:5

5 But the aim of your instruction is to be love that flows out of a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.

1 Timothy 1:19

19 by keeping your hold on faith and a good conscience; for some have thrust the latter aside and so have made shipwreck of their faith.

1 Timothy 2:2

2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead peaceful, quiet lives in perfect piety and seriousness.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

9 I want the women, on their part, to dress becomingly, that is, modestly and sensibly, not adorning themselves with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive dresses, 10 but with good deeds; for this is appropriate for women who profess to be pious.

1 Timothy 2:10

10 but with good deeds; for this is appropriate for women who profess to be pious. 11 A married woman must learn in quiet and in perfect submission. 12 I do not permit a married woman to practice teaching or domineering over a husband; she must keep quiet.

1 Timothy 2:15

15 But women will be saved through motherhood, if they continue to live in faith, love, and purity, blended with good sense.

1 Timothy 4:12

12 Let no one think little of you because you are young, but always set an example for believers, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.

1 Timothy 5:5

5 But a woman who is really a widow and lives alone has fixed her hope on God, and night and day devotes herself to prayers and entreaties,

1 Timothy 5:10

10 must have a reputation for doing good deeds, as bringing up children, being hospitable to strangers, washing the feet of God's people, helping people in distress, or devoting herself to any sort of doing good.

1 Timothy 6:12

12 Keep up the good fight for the faith. Keep your hold on eternal life, to which God called you, when before many witnesses you made the good profession of faith.

1 Timothy 6:18

18 charge them to continue doing good and being rich in good deeds, open-handed and generous hearted,

2 Timothy 1:3

3 I thank God, whom I worship, as my forefathers did, with a clear conscience, as I ceaselessly remember you in my prayers. Because I remember the tears you shed for me, I am always longing night and day

2 Timothy 2:25

25 With gentleness he must correct his opponents, for God might grant them repentance that would lead them to a full knowledge of the truth,

2 Timothy 2:25-26

25 With gentleness he must correct his opponents, for God might grant them repentance that would lead them to a full knowledge of the truth, 26 and they might recover their senses and escape from the devil's trap in which they have been caught by him to do his will.

Titus 1:2

2 in the hope of eternal life which God, who never lies, promised ages ago

Titus 2:3-6

3 the older women, too, to be reverent in their deportment, and not to be slanderers or slaves to heavy drinking, but to be teachers of what is right,

Titus 2:3-15

3 the older women, too, to be reverent in their deportment, and not to be slanderers or slaves to heavy drinking, but to be teachers of what is right,

Titus 2:3-4

3 the older women, too, to be reverent in their deportment, and not to be slanderers or slaves to heavy drinking, but to be teachers of what is right, 4 so as to train the younger women to be affectionate wives and mothers,

Titus 2:4-15

4 so as to train the younger women to be affectionate wives and mothers,

Titus 2:4-4

4 so as to train the younger women to be affectionate wives and mothers, 5 to be serious, pure, home keepers, kind, and subordinate to their husbands, so as not to cause God's message to suffer reproach.

Titus 2:5-15

5 to be serious, pure, home keepers, kind, and subordinate to their husbands, so as not to cause God's message to suffer reproach. 6 Keep urging the younger men to be sensible.

Titus 2:6-15

6 Keep urging the younger men to be sensible. 7 In everything you yourself continue to set them a worthy example of doing good; be sincere and serious in your teaching, 8 let your message be wholesome and unobjectionable, so that our opponent may be put to shame at having nothing evil to say about us.

Titus 2:8

8 let your message be wholesome and unobjectionable, so that our opponent may be put to shame at having nothing evil to say about us. 9 Continue urging slaves to practice perfect submission to their masters and to give them perfect satisfaction, 10 to stop resisting them and stealing from them, but to show such perfect fidelity as to adorn, in everything they do, the teaching of God our Saviour. 11 For God's favor has appeared with its offer of salvation to all mankind, 12 training us to give up godless ways and worldly cravings and live serious, upright, and godly lives in this world, 13 while we are waiting for the realization of our blessed hope at the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Christ Jesus, 14 who gave Himself for us to ransom us from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people to be His very own, zealous of good works.

Titus 2:14

14 who gave Himself for us to ransom us from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people to be His very own, zealous of good works. 15 You must continue teaching this, and continue exhorting and reproving people, with full authority. Let no one belittle you.

Titus 3:2

2 to stop abusing anyone, to be peaceable, fair-minded, showing perfect gentleness to everybody.

Titus 3:5-7

5 He saved us, not for upright deeds that we had done, but in accordance with His mercy, through the bath of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 6 which He abundantly poured out upon us through Jesus Christ our Saviour, 7 so that we might come into right standing with God through His unmerited favor and become heirs of eternal life in accordance with our hope.

Titus 3:7-7

7 so that we might come into right standing with God through His unmerited favor and become heirs of eternal life in accordance with our hope.

Hebrews 1:3

3 He is the reflection of God's glory and the perfect representation of His being, and continues to uphold the universe by His mighty word. After He had procured man's purification from sins, He took His seat at the right hand of God's majesty,

Hebrews 1:13

13 But to what angel did He ever say: "Just keep your seat at my right hand, until I make your foes a footstool for your feet"? 14 Are not the angels all attending spirits sent forth to serve for the sake of those who are going to be unceasing possessors of salvation?

Hebrews 3:6

6 but Christ as a Son set over the house of God was faithful; and we are that house, if we keep up our courage and the joy that hope inspires to the very end.

Hebrews 5:9

9 and because He was perfectly qualified for it He became the author of endless salvation for all who obey Him,

Hebrews 6:1

1 So then let us once for all quit the elementary teaching about Christ and continue progressing toward maturity; let us stop relaying a foundation of repentance from works that mean only death, and of faith in God,

Hebrews 6:14

14 saying: "I will certainly bless you over and over again, I will extensively increase your numbers."

Hebrews 6:18-19

18 so that by these two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to prove false, we who have taken refuge with Him may have encouragement strong enough to make us seize upon the hope that lies ahead of us. 19 This hope we have as an anchor for our souls, secure and safe, which reaches up behind the heavenly veil, 20 (6:19) where Jesus has blazed the way for us and became a High Priest with the rank of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 8:1

1 Now the main point in what I am saying is this: We have such a High Priest as this, one who has taken His seat at the right hand of God's majestic throne in heaven

Hebrews 9:14

14 how much more surely will the blood of Christ, who with an eternal Spirit gave Himself a spotless offering to God, purify your consciences from works that mean mere death, to serve the ever living God?

Hebrews 9:24

24 For it was not a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, that Christ entered, but it was into heaven itself that He went, in order now to appear for us in the very presence of God.

Hebrews 9:26

26 for, if that had been the case, He would have had to suffer over and over again, ever since the creation of the world. But, as it is, once at the close of the ages He has appeared, to put away sin by His sacrifice.

Hebrews 9:28

28 so Christ was offered once for all to take away the sins of many, but again He will appear, without having anything to do with sin, to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him to bring them final salvation.

Hebrews 10:12

12 But this One offered up once for all and for all time one sacrifice for sins, and once for all took His seat at God's right hand,

Hebrews 11:7

7 By faith Noah, on being divinely warned about things not seen as yet, in reverence prepared an ark for saving his family, and by his faith condemned the world and became possessor of the uprightness that results from faith. 8 By faith Abraham, on being called, obeyed in starting off for a country which he was to receive as his own, and he did it in spite of the fact that he did not know where he was going.

Hebrews 11:11

11 By faith Sarah received strength to become pregnant, and actually gave birth to a child, although she was past the time of life for it, because she thought that He who made her the promise was to be trusted.

Hebrews 11:19

19 For he considered the fact that God was able to raise people from the dead; and so from the dead, in a figure, he did receive him back.

Hebrews 12:2

2 keeping our eyes on Jesus, the perfect leader and example of faith, who, instead of the joy which lay before Him, endured the cross with no regard for its shame, and since has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:14

14 Continue to live in peace with everybody and strive for that consecration without which no one can see the Lord.

Hebrews 13:1

1 You must let your brotherly love continue.

Hebrews 13:16

16 And stop neglecting to do good and to be generous, for God is highly pleased with just such sacrifices as these.

Hebrews 13:18

18 Pray for me, for I am sure that I have a clear conscience, and in everything I want to live a noble life.

James 1:12

12 Blessed is the person who endures trial, for when he stands the test, he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.

James 1:21

21 So strip yourselves of everything impure and all the evils prevailing around you, and in humble spirit welcome the message which when rooted in your hearts is able to save your souls.

James 1:26

26 If anyone thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives himself, his religious worship is worthless.

James 2:13

13 For merciless judgment will be the portion of the merciless man; yet mercy will triumph over judgment.

James 3:1-10

1 Many of you, my brothers, should avoid becoming teachers, because you know that we teachers are going to be judged with stricter judgment than other people. 2 For we all make many a slip. If anyone never slips in speech, he is a man of maturity; he can control his whole body too. 3 If we put bridles into horses' mouths to make them obey us, we can guide their whole bodies, too. 4 Look at ships, too; though great and driven by violent winds, they are steered with a tiny rudder wherever the pilot pleases. 5 So the tongue, too, is a little organ but can boast of great achievements. See how a spark, ever so tiny, can set a vast forest on fire! 6 And the tongue is a fire, and takes its place among the parts of our bodies as a world of evil; it soils the whole body and sets on fire the circle of man's nature, and itself is set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beasts and birds, of reptiles and sea animals, can be, or have been, tamed by man; 8 but the tongue no human being can tame. It is an evil incapable of being quieted, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who are made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth flow blessing and cursing! It ought not to be like this, my brothers.

James 3:13-17

13 Who among you is wise and intelligent? Let him show by his noble living that his good deeds are done in humility, which wisdom prompts. 14 But if you cherish bitter jealousy and rivalry in your hearts, stop being proud of it and stop being false to the standard of truth. 15 This is not the kind of wisdom that comes down from above; no, it is earthly, human, demoniacal. 16 For wherever jealousy and rivalry exist, there will be confusion and all sorts of evil practices. 17 The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of compassion and good deeds, free from doubts and insincerity.

James 3:17

17 The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of compassion and good deeds, free from doubts and insincerity.

James 3:17-18

17 The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of compassion and good deeds, free from doubts and insincerity. 18 The harvest of uprightness is grown from the seed of peace by those who are peacemakers.

James 4:17

17 So when a man knows what is right but does not do it, he is guilty of sin.

James 5:6

6 You have condemned and murdered the upright man; he offers no resistance.

James 5:11

11 See how we call those who thus endured happy! You have heard how patiently Job endured and have seen how the Lord finally blessed him, because the Lord is tenderhearted and merciful.

James 5:16

16 So practice confessing your sins to one another, and praying for one another, that you may be cured. An upright man's prayer, when it keeps at work, is very powerful.

James 5:19-20

19 My brothers, if any one of you has wandered away from the truth, and someone brings him back, 20 you may be sure that whoever brings a sinner back from his evil ways will save the man's soul from death, and cover up a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In accordance with His great mercy He has begotten us anew to an ever living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead;

1 Peter 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In accordance with His great mercy He has begotten us anew to an ever living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead; 4 yes, to an inheritance that is imperishable, unsullied, and unfading, which is kept in heaven for you

1 Peter 1:11-12

11 earnestly trying to find out the time, and the nature of the times, which the Spirit of the Christ within them pointed to, in foretelling the sufferings of the Christ and the glory that should follow them. 12 It was made known to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in their searching for these things that have already been told to you by those who through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven brought you the good news. The angels long to take a peep into these things.

1 Peter 1:15

15 but in accordance with the Holy Being who has called you, you must prove to be holy too,

1 Peter 1:17

17 And if you address as Father, Him who judges everyone impartially in accordance with what he does, you must live reverently all your fleeting stay on earth,

1 Peter 1:22

22 Since you have purified your souls by obeying the truth, in sincere love for the brotherhood you must love one another heartily and fervently, 23 because you have been born anew, not from a germ that perishes but from one that does not perish, by the word of the living and everlasting God.

1 Peter 2:1

1 So once for all get rid of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all sorts of slander,

1 Peter 2:12

12 Keep on living upright lives among the heathen, so that, when they slander you as evildoers, by what they see of your good deeds they may come to praise God on the judgment day.

1 Peter 2:15

15 For it is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

1 Peter 2:17

17 Show honor to everyone. Practice love for the brotherhood; practice reverence to God and honor to the Emperor.

1 Peter 2:19-20

19 For it is pleasing in the sight of God for one to bear his sorrows though suffering innocently.

1 Peter 2:19

19 For it is pleasing in the sight of God for one to bear his sorrows though suffering innocently. 20 For what credit is it to bear it patiently, if you do wrong and are beaten for it? But if you do right and patiently suffer for it, it is pleasing in the sight of God.

1 Peter 2:20-20

20 For what credit is it to bear it patiently, if you do wrong and are beaten for it? But if you do right and patiently suffer for it, it is pleasing in the sight of God.

1 Peter 2:20

20 For what credit is it to bear it patiently, if you do wrong and are beaten for it? But if you do right and patiently suffer for it, it is pleasing in the sight of God. 21 Indeed, it was to this kind of living that you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you might follow His footsteps.

1 Peter 2:21-24

21 Indeed, it was to this kind of living that you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you might follow His footsteps. 22 He never committed a sin, and deceit was never found on His lips.

1 Peter 2:22

22 He never committed a sin, and deceit was never found on His lips.

1 Peter 2:22-24

22 He never committed a sin, and deceit was never found on His lips. 23 Although He was abused, He never retorted; although He continued to suffer, He never threatened, but committed His case to Him who judges justly.

1 Peter 2:23-24

23 Although He was abused, He never retorted; although He continued to suffer, He never threatened, but committed His case to Him who judges justly. 24 He bore our sins in His own body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to uprightness. By His wounds you have been healed,

1 Peter 3:1-2

1 You married women, in the same way, must be submissive to your husbands, so that, if any of them do not believe the message, they may be won over without a word through the living of the wives, 2 when they see how chaste and respectful you are.

1 Peter 3:2

2 when they see how chaste and respectful you are.

1 Peter 3:2-2

2 when they see how chaste and respectful you are. 3 Your adornments must be not of an external nature, with braids of hair or ornaments of gold, or changes of dress, 4 but they must be of an internal nature, the character concealed in the heart, in the imperishable quality of a quiet and gentle spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God.

1 Peter 3:4

4 but they must be of an internal nature, the character concealed in the heart, in the imperishable quality of a quiet and gentle spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God. 5 For this is the way the pious women of olden times, who set their hope on God, used to adorn themselves. 6 They were submissive to their husbands, as Sarah, for example, obeyed Abraham and called him master. You have become true daughters of hers, if you practice doing right and cease from every fear.

1 Peter 3:6

6 They were submissive to their husbands, as Sarah, for example, obeyed Abraham and called him master. You have become true daughters of hers, if you practice doing right and cease from every fear. 7 You married men, in the same way, must live with your wives in an intelligent consideration of them; you must show them deference, too, as the weaker sex, as they share with you the gracious gift of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

1 Peter 3:14-15

14 Instead, you are happy, even if you should suffer for doing right. Never be afraid of their threats, and never be disturbed,

1 Peter 3:14

14 Instead, you are happy, even if you should suffer for doing right. Never be afraid of their threats, and never be disturbed, 15 but in your hearts be consecrated to Christ as Lord, and always be ready to make your defense to anyone who asks a reason for the hope you have. But you must do it in gentleness and reverence,

1 Peter 3:15

15 but in your hearts be consecrated to Christ as Lord, and always be ready to make your defense to anyone who asks a reason for the hope you have. But you must do it in gentleness and reverence,

1 Peter 3:15-15

15 but in your hearts be consecrated to Christ as Lord, and always be ready to make your defense to anyone who asks a reason for the hope you have. But you must do it in gentleness and reverence, 16 and keep your conscience clear, so that those who bitterly abuse your excellent conduct as Christians may be ashamed of slandering you.

1 Peter 3:21

21 Baptism, which corresponds to this figure, now saves you, too -- I do not mean the mere removal of physical stains, but the craving for a clear conscience toward God -- through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

1 Peter 4:1

1 So then, since Christ has suffered in our physical form, you too must arm yourselves with the same determination. For whoever suffers in his physical form has done with sin,

1 Peter 4:6

6 This is why the good news was preached to the dead too, that they may be judged in their physical nature as men are, but live in the Spirit as God does.

1 Peter 4:13-16

13 but so far as you are sharing Christ's sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that at the uncovering of His glory you may rejoice triumphantly. 14 If you are suffering abuse because you bear the name of Christ, you are happy, because the glorious Spirit of God is resting upon you. 15 For not one of you should suffer as a murderer or as a thief or any sort of criminal, or as a meddler in other people's business,

1 Peter 4:15

15 For not one of you should suffer as a murderer or as a thief or any sort of criminal, or as a meddler in other people's business, 16 but if anyone suffers for being a Christian, he must not be ashamed of it, but should keep on praising God for bearing this name. 17 Because the time has come for judgment to begin at the household of God, and if it begins with us, what will the end be of those who are rejecting God's good news?

1 Peter 4:19

19 Therefore, those who suffer in accordance with God's will must also, in doing right, entrust their souls to the Creator who is faithful.

1 Peter 5:5

5 You younger men, on your part, must be submissive to the elders. And you must all put on the servant's apron of humility to one another, because God opposes the haughty but bestows His unmerited favor on the humble.

1 Peter 5:10

10 And God, the giver of every spiritual blessing, who through your union with Christ has called you to His eternal glory, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong,

2 Peter 1:7

7 piety with brotherly affection, brotherly affection with universal love.

2 Peter 2:5

5 and if He did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others when He brought the flood upon the world of godless people;

2 Peter 3:11

11 If all these things are to be dissolved in this way, what men you ought to be! What holy and pious lives you ought to lead,

2 Peter 3:15

15 Always think of our Lord's patience as salvation, just as our dearly beloved brother Paul, with the wisdom granted him, wrote you to do,

1 John 1:9

9 If we confess our sins, He is to be depended on, since He is just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from every wrong.

1 John 3:14

14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love our brothers. Whoever does not continue to love continues still in death.

1 John 3:18-19

18 Dear children, let us stop loving with words or lips alone, but let us love with actions and in truth. 19 In this way we shall know by experience that we are on the side of the truth, and satisfy our consciences in God's sight,

3 John 1:11

11 Dearly beloved, do not follow bad examples but good ones. Whoever practices doing right is God's child; whoever practices doing wrong has never seen God.

Revelation 14:5

5 and they have never been known to tell a lie with their lips; they are blameless.

Revelation 19:10

10 Then I fell before his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must take care not to do that. I am only a fellow-slave of yours and of your brothers who hold to the testimony borne by Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony borne by Jesus is the inspiring spirit of prophecy."

Revelation 20:7

7 When the thousand years have ended, Satan will be let loose from his prison.
