⁷ "Woe to the world because of stumbling-blocks! for there is a necessity that the stumbling-blocks come; but woe to the man through whom the stumbling-block comes!

⁴¹ The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of the Kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those who do iniquity; ⁴² and they will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth!

²⁴ The Son of Man, indeed, goeth, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for him, if that man had never been born!"

⁷ And, when ye hear of wars and rumors of wars, be not troubled; these things must come to pass; but the end is not yet.

¹ And He said to His disciples, "It is impossible but that occasions of stumbling should come; but woe to him through whom they come!

¹² While I was with them, I was keeping, in Thy name, those Whom Thou hast given Me; and I guarded them, and no one of them perished, except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁶ "Brethren, it was necessary that the Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake beforehand, through the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who became guide to those who arrested Jesus;

¹⁸ This man, therefore, acquired a field with the reward of unrighteousness; and, falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out; ¹⁹ and it became known to all those dwelling at Jerusalem; so that place was called, in their own language, Akeldama, that is, 'Field of blood.' ²⁰ For it has been written in a book of Psalms, 'Let his habitation become desolate, and let no one dwell in it.' And, 'His charge, let another take.'

²³ You who boast in law, do you dishonor God through your transgression of the law? ²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles, because of you, as it has been written.

¹⁹ for there must also be factions among you, that the approved may be made manifest among you.

³ Let no one deceive you in any manner; because that day will not come, unless the falling away come first, and the man of lawlessness be revealed—the son of perdition; ⁴ he that opposes himself against, and exalts himself above, all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he sits in the temple of God, exhibiting himself as God. ⁵ Do ye not remember that, when I was yet with you, I was wont to tell you these things? ⁶ And now ye know what hinders his being revealed in his own season; ⁷ for the mystery of lawlessness is already working: only He Who hindereth will hinder, until He is taken out of the midst. ⁸ And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth, and will bring to nought by the manifestation of His presence; ⁹ him whose coming is according to the working of Satan in all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deceit of unrighteousness to those who perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And, for this cause, God sendeth them a working of delusion, that they may believe the lie; ¹² that they all may be judged, who believe not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

¹ But the Spirit expressly saith, that in later times, some will fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and to teachings of demons, ² in hypocrisy of men speaking lies, branded in their own conscience with a hot iron; ³ forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods, which God created for reception with thanksgiving by those who believe and have full knowledge of the truth.

¹⁴ I desire, therefore, that younger widows marry, bear children, rule a house-hold, give no occasion to the adversary for reproach; ¹⁵ for already some turned aside after Satan.

¹ Let as many as are slaves under a yoke account their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the teaching be not blasphemed.

¹ But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come; ² for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, intemperate, fierce, no lovers of good, ⁴ traitors, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁵ holding a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from these also turn away.

³ For there will be a time when they will not endure the healthful teaching; but, having itching ears, they will for themselves heap up teachers according to their own desires; ⁴ and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to the fables.

⁵ to be sober, pure, workers at home, good, submitting themselves to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

⁸ sound speech not to be condemned; that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say concerning us.

² and many will follow their lascivious doings; by reason of whom the way of the truth will be defamed; ³ and, in covetousness, will they, with feigned words, make merchandise of you; for whom the judgment from of old lingers not, and their destruction slumbers not.

¹⁵ leaving the right way, they were led astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness, ¹⁶ but had a rebuke for his own transgression; a dumb beast-of-burden, speaking in man's voice, forbade the prophet's madness. ¹⁷ These are fountains without water, and mists driven by a storm, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved.

⁴ For there crept in stealthily certain men, who of old were set forth for this condemnation, ungodly men, changing the grace of our God into lasciviousness; and denying the only Master and our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹¹ Woe to them, because they went in the way of Cain, and rushed on in the error of Balsam for hire, and perished in the gainsaying of Korah! ¹² These are the hidden rocks in your love-feasts, feasting sumptuously together, feeding themselves without fear; clouds without water, borne along by winds; autumnal trees, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; ¹³ wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own ignominies; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of the darkness has been reserved forever.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you, because you have there those holding the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat idol-sacrifices, and to commit fornication. ¹⁵ So you have also those holding the teaching of the Nicolaitans, in like manner.

²⁰ But I have it against you, that you suffer the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess; and she teaches and seduces My servants to commit fornication, and to eat idol-sacrifices. ²¹ And I gave her time, that she might repent; and she is not willing to repent of her fornication. ²² Behold, I cast her into a bed, and those committing adultery with her, into great tribulation, if they repent not of their works. ²³ And her children I will slay with death; and all the assemblies shall know that I am He Who searcheth the reins and hearts; and I will give to you, each one, according to your works.

²⁰ And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet that wrought the signs in his presence, with which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast, and who worshiped his image. The two were cast alive into the lake of fire that burns with brimstone. ²¹ And the rest were killed with the sword of Him Who was sitting on the horse, the sword that went forth out of His mouth; and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
