¹ Then spake Jesus to the people and to his disciples, saying, ² The scribes and pharisees sit in the seat of Moses: ³ observe therefore and do all things whatsoever they tell you to observe; but do not ye according to their works, for they say and do not: ⁴ for they bind grievous and intolerable burthens, and impose them upon men; but they themselves will not put a finger to them: ⁵ but they do all their works to be seen by men; they make their phylacteries broad, and enlarge the fringes of their garments, ⁶ and love the uppermost places at feasts, ⁷ and the chief seats in the synagogues, and salutations in public assemblies, and to be called by men Rabbi, Rabbi. ⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor even Christ, and ye are all brethren. ⁹ Neither call any man upon earth Father; for one is your Father, who is in heaven: ¹⁰ neither be ye called masters; for one is your master, even Christ. ¹¹ But let him that is greatest among you be your minister: and whosoever will exalt himself shall be abased, ¹² and whosoever will humble himself shall be exalted. ¹³ But wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, nor suffer those that are entering to go in. ¹⁴ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye devour widows houses, and for a cover make long prayers: therefore ye shall receive the heavier judgement. ¹⁵ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites: for ye compass sea and land to make a proselyte, and when he is gained, ye make him more the child of hell than yourselves. ¹⁶ Wo unto you, ye blind guides, who say, If any one swear by the temple, it is nothing; ¹⁷ but if any man swear by the gold of the temple, the oath is binding. Foolish and blind creatures! for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? ¹⁸ And, If any one swear by the altar, it is nothing; but if any one swear by the gift upon it, he is bound. ¹⁹ O foolish and blind! for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifieth the gift? ²⁰ He then, that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it and by all things upon it: ²¹ and he, that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by Him that dwelleth in it: ²² and he, that sweareth by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by Him that sitteth upon it. ²³ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who tithe even your mint, and anise, and cummin, but neglect the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and fidelity: these ye ought undoubtedly to practise, and not to omit the others. ²⁴ Blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel! ²⁵ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance: ²⁶ thou blind pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of them may be also clean. ²⁷ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; who are like whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful without, but within are full of the bones of the dead, and all manner of filthiness; ²⁸ so do ye likewise outwardly appear to men to be righteous, but within are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. ²⁹ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; who build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the monuments of the just, ³⁰ and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been concerned with them in shedding the blood of the prophets: ³¹ so that ye are witnesses yourselves, that ye are the children of those who killed the prophets: ³² fill up then the measure of your fathers, ye serpents, ye brood of vipers: ³³ how can ye escape the damnation of hell? ³⁴ For behold I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, to the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I tell you, all these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! ³⁸ Behold your house shall be left you desolate: ³⁹ for I tell you, ye shall not see me after this, till ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.

¹⁰ And He called the multitude to Him, and said unto them, Hear and understand it: ¹¹ not that which goeth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this polluteth the man. ¹² Whereupon his disciples came and said to Him, Dost thou know that the pharisees, when they heard this assertion, were offended at it? ¹³ But He answered and said, Every plantation which my heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up. ¹⁴ Regard them not; for they are blind guides of the blind: and if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the ditch. ¹⁵ Then Peter answered, and said unto Him, Explain to us this parable. ¹⁶ And Jesus replied, Are ye also still void of understanding? ¹⁷ Do ye not yet know, that whatever goeth into the mouth passeth to the belly and is discharged downwards? ¹⁸ But the things, which proceed out of the mouth, come from the heart, and those defile a man. ¹⁹ For out of the heart proceed wicked disputings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false-witnessings, slanders: ²⁰ these defile a man, but to eat without washing the hands doth not defile him.

¹⁴ And calling all the people to Him, He said unto them,

³⁸ And He said unto them as He was teaching them, Beware of the scribes, who love to walk in long robes, and salutations in public-places, ³⁹ and the chief seats in the synagogues, and uppermost places at feasts;

¹ In the mean time great multitudes of people being gathered together about Him, so that they trode upon one another, He began to say to his disciples, Beware of the leaven of the pharisees, which is hypocrisy: for there is nothing concealed,

And thus have ye made void the commandment of God by your tradition. ⁷ Well did Esaias prophecy concerning you, ⁸ saying, This people approach me with their mouth, and honour me with their lips, but their heart is far from me: ⁹ but in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the injunctions of men.

³⁰ And coming to the second, he spake in like manner: and he answered, Yes, Sir; and went not.

²⁹ But Peter, and the other apostles, answered, and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

¹⁹ and art persuaded that thou art a guide of the blind, ²⁰ a light to them that are in the darkness, an instructor of the simple, a teacher of babes, having the form of the knowledge and of the truth which is in the law. ²¹ Thou then, who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou, that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? ²² Thou, that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou, that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? ²³ Thou, that boastest in the law, dost thou by transgression of the law dishonour God? ²⁴ for through you the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.

¹ Let every soul be subject to the powers that are over them: for there is no such power but from God: the powers that are over men, are appointed by God.

⁵ having a form of godliness, but strangers to the power of it: from such turn away.

¹⁶ They profess to know God, but in works deny Him, being abominable and disobedient, and to every thing that is good void of understanding.

²⁸ Come unto me therefore all ye who are labouring and oppressed, and I will give you ease. ²⁹ Take but my yoke upon you, and learn of me, (for I am meek and lowly in heart,) and ye shall find refreshment to your souls: ³⁰ for my yoke is easy, and my burthen is light.

²³ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites, who tithe even your mint, and anise, and cummin, but neglect the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and fidelity: these ye ought undoubtedly to practise, and not to omit the others.

⁴⁶ And He said, Wo unto you also, ye interpreters of the law, for ye load men with insupportable burthens, and ye yourselves touch not the burthens with one of your fingers.

¹⁰ Now therefore why do ye tempt God, in imposing a yoke on the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

²⁸ For it seemed good to the holy Spirit, and so to us, to lay no more burthen upon you than these necessary things.

¹³ For they, who are circumcised, do not themselves keep the law: but they would have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

²⁴ But to you I say, to the rest in Thyatira, As many as do not hold this doctrine, and who are unacquainted with the depths of Satan, as they speak, I will lay on you no other burden:

¹ Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be observed by them: otherwise ye will have no reward from your Father, who is in heaven. ² Therefore when thou dost an alms-deed, do not proclaim it abroad, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be applauded by men. Verily I tell you, they have their reward. ³ But when thou givest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth: ⁴ that thine alms may be in secret, and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will himself reward thee openly. ⁵ And when thou prayest, be not like the hypocrites; for they love to pray in public assemblies, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be taken notice of by men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. ⁶ But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret, will reward thee openly. ⁷ But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathens do, for they think they shall be heard for their speaking much: ⁸ be not ye therefore like them; for your Father knoweth what ye have need of before ye ask Him. ⁹ After this manner therefore pray ye, ¹⁰ "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, as in heaven so also upon earth; ¹¹ give us this day our daily bread; ¹² and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; ¹³ and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen." ¹⁴ For if ye forgive men their faults, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ¹⁵ but if ye forgive not men their transgressions, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. ¹⁶ And when ye fast, be not, like the hypocrites, of a gloomy countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may be observed by men to fast: I tell you, they have indeed their reward.

²⁰ (And lo, a woman who had had a flux of blood for twelve years, came close behind Him, and touched the hem of his garment:

¹⁵ And He said unto them, Ye justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

⁴⁷ who devour widows houses, and for a shew of religion make long prayers: these shall receive a heavier sentence.

⁴⁴ How can ye believe, who receive applause from each other, and the glory which is from God only, ye seek not?

¹⁸ He, that speaketh from himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of Him that sent him is true, and there is no imposture in him.

⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

¹⁵ Some indeed through envy and strife, and some also through good-will:

³ Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves. ⁴ the son of perdition, who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or the object of worship; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

²¹ And He said unto her, What dost thou desire? She saith unto Him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on the left in thy kingdom.

Verily I tell you, it shall be required of this generation. ⁵² Wo unto you interpreters of the law; for ye have taken away the key of knowledge, ye entered not in yourselves, and those that were entering in, ye hindered. ⁵³ As He was saying these things unto them the scribes and pharisees began vehemently to attack Him, and urge Him to speak of many things, ⁵⁴ laying snares for Him, and endeavouring to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse Him.

⁷ And He spake a parable to those that were invited, observing how they chose the chief seats, saying unto them, ⁸ When thou art invited by any one to a wedding, do not sit down in the uppermost place, least one more honorable than thou be invited by him; ⁹ and he who invited thee and him, should come and say to thee, Give place to this person, and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place. ¹⁰ But when thou art invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, that, when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then wilt thou have honor before them that sit at table with thee: ¹¹ for whosoever exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹⁰ be tenderly affected with brotherly love to each other, in honor preferring one another:

¹ My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, in a partial respect of persons. ² For if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring in fine clothes, and there come in also a poor man in a mean habit; ³ and ye turn your eyes toward him that weareth the fine clothes, and say to him, Sit thou here in an honorable place; and say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: ⁴ do ye not make a partial difference within yourselves, and become judges that reason wickedly?

⁹ I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who affects the pre-eminence among them, doth not receive us.

³ Because ye are still carnal: for while there is among you envy and strife and divisions, are ye not carnal, and do ye not walk as men? ⁴ For when one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos, are ye not carnal? ⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whose means ye embraced the faith, even as the Lord gave success to each of them?

²⁴ not that we are lords over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

⁵ for we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for the sake of Jesus.

¹⁵ from whom the whole family in heaven and on earth is named,

¹ Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, ² and Timothy our brother, to the holy and faithful brethren in Christ at Colosse: grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we who are such shall pass a stricter trial than others: for in many things we all offend;

³ nor as lording it over the people, but being examples to the flock.

⁹ I John, who am also your brother, and companion in the affliction, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the island called Patmos, for the sake of the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him: and he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and a fellow-servant of thy brethren, that hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. For the Spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.

⁹ And he said unto me, See thou do it not: for I am a fellow-servant of thine, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of those who observe the words of this book: worship God.

⁸ be not ye therefore like them; for your Father knoweth what ye have need of before ye ask Him. ⁹ After this manner therefore pray ye,

³² (things which the heathens are so inquisitive after) for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these.

¹¹ If ye then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to them that ask Him?

¹ Brethren, and Fathers, hear now my apology to you,

¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. ¹⁵ For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ So that the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. ¹⁷ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ: if so be we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified with Him.

¹⁵ for if ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet ye have not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you by the gospel.

¹⁸ and I will be a father unto you, and ye shall be to me for sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

¹ Do not chide a senior, but exhort him as a father; and younger men as brethren: ² the elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with all purity.

⁹ Now if we had fathers of our flesh, who corrected us, and we gave them reverence; shall we not much more be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?

¹ Behold then what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God: though for this reason the world knoweth us not, because it knew not Him.

²⁶ it shall not be so among you; but whosoever would be great among you, let him be your minister, and whoever would be chief among you, ²⁷ let him be your servant:

⁴³ But it shall not be so among you: but whoever would be great among you shall be your minister; ⁴⁴ and whoever of you would be first shall be servant of all.

²⁶ But ye shall not do so: but let the greatest among you be as the younger; and he that presides as he that serveth. ²⁷ For which is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at table? but I am among you as one that serveth.

¹⁴ If I then your Lord and Master have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you.

¹⁹ For though I am free from all, yet I have made myself a servant to all, that I might gain the more.

²³ so am I: are they ministers of Christ? (if I may speak as a fool) I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes far exceeding, in prisons more frequently, and often even in deaths.

¹³ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only abuse not this liberty for an occasion to indulge the flesh, but by mutual love serve one another.

⁵ Let the same mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ⁶ who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be as God. ⁷ Yet He emptied himself, assuming the form of a servant, when made in the likeness of men: ⁸ and being in the human state, He humbled himself, and was obedient even unto death, and that the death of the cross.

³ Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

⁴ Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, he shall be greatest in the kingdom of heaven:

⁵¹ He hath wrought powerfully with his arm; He hath confounded those that were proud in the imagination of their heart. ⁵² He hath cast down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the humble.

¹¹ for whosoever exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

⁶ No, He giveth more grace: wherefore it is said, God resisteth the proud, but sheweth favor to the humble.

⁵ Likewise ye younger, be subject to the elder; and all of you behaving with due submission one to another, be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, but sheweth favor to the humble.

³¹ Now which of the two did the will of his father? They say unto Him, The first. Jesus replied, Verily I say unto you, that publicans and prostitutes enter into the kingdom of God before you: ³² for John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye did not believe him; but publicans and harlots believed him; and though ye saw that, ye did not repent afterwards, to believe him.

⁴⁶ Never man spake like this man. ⁴⁷ The pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived? ⁴⁸ have any of the rulers believed on Him, or of the pharisees? ⁴⁹ but these people, who know not the law, are cursed. ⁵⁰ Upon this Nicodemus, (who came to Him by night) ⁵¹ being one of them, saith to them, Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he hath done? ⁵² They replied, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and see: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

²² These things said his parents, because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed, that if any one confessed Him to be Christ, he should be turned out of the synagogue.

²⁴ Then they called a second time for the man that had been blind, and said to him, Give glory to God: for we know that this man is a great sinner.

³⁴ They answered, and said unto him, Thou wast wholly born in sins, and dost thou teach us?

¹⁷ But that it may spread no farther among the people, let us severely charge them to speak no more to any man in this name. ¹⁸ So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all, nor teach in the name of Jesus.

²⁸ saying, Did not we strictly charge you not to teach in this name? and behold ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and would bring this man's blood upon us.

⁴⁰ So they took his advice, and having called for the apostles and scourged them, they charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

¹ And Saul was well pleased with his execution. For at that time there was a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all dispersed through the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

⁸ But Elymas the magician (for so his name signifies) withstood them endeavouring to turn away the proconsul from the faith.

¹⁵ who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; who are displeasing to God, and contrary to all men: ¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, thus going on to fill up their sins perpetually: but wrath is coming upon them to extremity.

⁸ And as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth; being men of corrupt minds, and of no judgement in the faith.

¹⁵ Of whom do thou also beware: for he hath greatly opposed our doctrine.

²⁴ Moreover I tell you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgement, than for thee.

³³ how can ye escape the damnation of hell? ³⁴ For behold I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, to the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I tell you, all these things shall come upon this generation.

⁴⁰ who devour widows houses, and for a shew of religion make long prayers: these shall receive the heavier judgement.

⁴⁸ but he that knew it not, and did things deserving stripes, shall be beaten with few: for to whomsoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will demand the more.

⁶ For of these are they who insinuate themselves into families, and captivate weak women, that are laden with sins,

¹⁰ For there are many disorderly persons, vain-talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision; whose mouths must be stopped: ¹¹ who subvert whole families, teaching what they ought not, for shameful gain:

³ and by artful speeches they will make sale of you for gain. Whose judgement is long since hastening, and their destruction doth not slumber.

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and which cannot be restrained from sin: ensnaring unstable souls, and having a heart practised in rapine; cursed people: ¹⁵ who have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity;

²² but I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be liable to the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be obnoxious to the council; but whosoever shall say, "Thou fool," shall be in danger of hell-fire.

²⁹ And therefore if thy right eye cause thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one part of thee perish, than that thy whole body should be cast into hell:

⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the devil, and are bent upon doing the lusts of your father: he was a murderer from the beginning, and continued not in the truth: for there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh like himself, for he is a liar, and the father of such.

¹⁰ Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers from Rome, Jews and proselytes,

⁵ And the advice pleased the whole multitude, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith, and of the holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus a proselyte of Antioch.

¹⁰ said, O thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, who art full of all deceit and craft, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

⁴³ And when the synagogue was broken up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who addressing themselves to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

² But the unbelieving Jews stirred up and inflamed the minds of the Gentiles against the brethren.

¹⁹ But there came thither some Jews from Antioch and Iconium, and persuading the multitude, stoned Paul, and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

⁵ But the unbelieving Jews being filled with envy, collected some loose profligate fellows, and making a tumult set all the city in an uproar: and assaulting Jason's house, they sought for them in order to bring them out to the populace. ⁶ But not finding them, they dragged Jason and some of the brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, these men that have turned the world upside down,

¹³ But when the Jews of Thessalonica knew that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came thither also, to stir up the people.

¹⁷ They are zealous for you, but not as they ought: for they would exclude us, that ye may be zealous for them:

¹² They, who want to make a fair appearance in the flesh, would constrain you to be circumcised; only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.

³ among whom also we were all conversant heretofore in our carnal desires, indulging the appetites of the flesh and of our imaginations; and were by nature children of wrath, even as others.

³³ Again, ye have heard, that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: ³⁴ but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God; ³⁵ nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King: neither shalt thou swear by thy head,

⁵ but ye say, If any man say to his father or mother, "that which thou mightest be profited by from me is a gift to the temple," ⁶ and so honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. And thus have ye made void the commandment of God by your tradition.

¹⁴ Regard them not; for they are blind guides of the blind: and if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the ditch.

¹⁷ but if any man swear by the gold of the temple, the oath is binding. Foolish and blind creatures! for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

¹⁹ O foolish and blind! for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifieth the gift?

²⁴ Blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!

²⁶ thou blind pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of them may be also clean.

¹⁰ for Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, He that revileth father or mother, let him be put to death: ¹¹ but ye say, If a man tell his father or mother, That which thou mightest be profited by from me is Corban, (that is, a gift to the temple) it sufficeth: ¹² and so ye allow him to do nothing more for his father or his mother: ¹³ making void the word of God by your tradition,. And many such like things ye do.

³⁹ And Jesus said, I am come into this world to execute judgement; that they who see not, may see; and that they who say they see, may be made blind. ⁴⁰ And some of the pharisees who were present, heard these words, and said to Him, Are we blind also? ⁴¹ Jesus replied, If ye were blind, ye would not have sin: but now ye say, We see; your sin therefore remaineth.

³ And I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to the whole law.

¹² But above all, my brethren, swear not; neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor any other oath: but let your yea be yea, and your nay nay; that ye may not fall under condemnation.

²² in whom ye also are built up together for an habitation of God by the Spirit.

⁹ for all the fulness of the deity dwelleth personally in Him.

³⁴ but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;

⁴⁹ "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what house will ye build for me, saith the Lord, or what is the place of my rest?

² And immmediately I was in the Spirit: and behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sitting on the throne. ³ And He that sat upon it, was to look at like a jasper and a sardine stone, and there was a rainbow round the throne like the appearance of an emerald.

¹⁹ Whosoever therefore shall break one of the left of these commandments, and thereby teach men so to do, he shall be esteemed very little in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do as well as teach them, he shall be accounted great in the kingdom of heaven. ²⁰ For I tell you, that unless your righteousness exceed that of the scribes and pharisees, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

¹³ "I desire mercy rather than sacrifice:" for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.

⁷ and if ye had known what that scripture means, "I desire mercy rather than sacrifice," ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

³⁷ And Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind: this is the first and great command. ³⁸ And the second is like it, ³⁹ Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ⁴⁰ On these two precepts depend all the law and the prophets.

⁴² But wo unto you pharisees, who tithe even your mint, and rue, and all your herbs, and pass by judgement and the love of God: these ought ye to practise and not to omit the others.

¹² I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of all that I possess.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, ²³ gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.

⁴ Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me take the chaff out of thine eye, and behold, there is a beam in thine own eye?

² Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat. ³ But He answered and said unto them, And why do ye transgress the commandment of God for your tradition? ⁴ For God commanded saying, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, He that revileth father or mother, let him be put to death:

²⁴ and again I tell you, It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

¹⁶ Wo unto you, ye blind guides, who say, If any one swear by the temple, it is nothing;

⁶ But the chief priests took up the pieces of silver, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury of the temple, because it is the price of blood: ⁷ so they consulted together, and bought with them the potter's field for a burying-ground for strangers: ⁸ and therefore that field is called the field of blood to this day.

⁷ And the scribes and pharisees watched Him to see if He would work a cure on the sabbath: that they might find an accusation against Him. ⁸ But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man that had the withered hand, Rise, and stand in the midst: and he rose up and stood forth. ⁹ Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing, Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to let it be lost? ¹⁰ And looking round upon them all, He said to the man, Stretch out thine hand: and he did so, and his hand was made as sound as the other.

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the pretorium: (now it was morning) and they themselves went not in to the court, least they should be defiled, and so might not eat of the passover.

⁴⁰ Then they all cried out again, saying, Not Him, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

⁴ And when they come from the market, they do not eat till they have washed. And there are many other things, which they have received to observe, as the washing of cups, and pots, and brass-vessels, and seats. ⁵ Then the pharisees and the scribes ask Him, Why do not thy disciples walk according to the tradition of the ancients, but eat without washing their hands? ⁶ But He answered them, Well did Esaias prophesy concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me: ⁷ and in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the injunctions of men. ⁸ For laying aside the commandment of God, ye retain the tradition of men, as the washings of pots and cups, and many other such like things. ⁹ And ye expressly annul the commandment of God, that ye may retain your own tradition;

³⁹ But the Lord said unto him, ye pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of rapine and wickedness. ⁴⁰ Senseless creatures! Did not He who made the outside, make also that which is within? give alms rather according to your ability:

³³ Either allow the tree to be good, and it's fruit good; or shew the tree to be corrupt, and it's fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by it's fruit.

⁴⁵ A good man, out of the good treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man, out of the evil treasure of his heart, bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

¹ Having therefore, my beloved, these promises, let us purify ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

²² let us draw near with sincerity, in the full assurance of faith, having our hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁸ Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you: cleanse your hands, O sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

⁴⁴ Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye are like graves that do not appear, and those that walk over them are not aware of them.

³ Then said Paul to him, "God will smite thee, thou whited wall: dost thou sit to judge me according to the law, and contrary to the law commandest me to be smitten?"

³⁴ O race of vipers, how can ye speak good things, who are yourselves so wicked? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart produceth good things; and a wicked man out of the wicked treasure uttereth wicked things:

⁵ but they do all their works to be seen by men; they make their phylacteries broad, and enlarge the fringes of their garments,

²¹ for out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, ²² adulteries, fornications, murthers, thefts, avarice, malice, deceit, lasciviousness, envy, slander, pride, folly; ²³ all these evils come from within and defile the man.

¹² For the word of God is lively and efficacious, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of the very joints and marrow, and judging the thoughts and intentions of the heart. ¹³ And there is no creature concealed from his sight: but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him, to whom we are to give an account.

⁴⁷ Wo unto you; who build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Thus ye testify that ye approve of the deeds of your fathers; for they put them to death, and ye build their sepulchres.

²⁹ Men and brethren, allow me to speak with freedom to you concerning the patriarch David, that he is dead and buried, and his sepulchre is among us to this day.

³⁵ and the husbandmen took his servants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ And he sent again other servants more than the first: and they did the like to them.

³⁴ For behold I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, to the blood of Zacharias the son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

²² But he said to him, Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant, Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow;

⁵¹ Ye stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye. ⁵² Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? and slew those who prophesied concerning the coming of that righteous One, of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers;

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, thus going on to fill up their sins perpetually: but wrath is coming upon them to extremity.

⁷ But when he saw many of the pharisees and sadducees coming to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

³⁴ O race of vipers, how can ye speak good things, who are yourselves so wicked? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

³⁴ And when the fruit-season drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it: ³⁵ and the husbandmen took his servants and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.

⁷ Therefore said he to the multitudes that came to be baptised by him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

³ But I fear least as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the purity that is in Christ.

³ how shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation? which began to be declared by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that heard Him;

²⁹ of how much greater punishment, think ye, shall he be counted worthy, who hath trampled under foot the Son of God, and accounted the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and abused the Spirit of grace?

²⁵ See that ye reject not Him that speaketh; for if they escaped not, who rejected him that gave forth divine oracles on earth, much less shall we, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven:

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

¹⁶ Behold I send you forth as sheep into the midst of wolves: be ye therefore prudent as serpents, and innocent as doves. ¹⁷ Beware of evil men; for they will deliver you up to their councils, and will scourge you in their synagogues.

²³ But when they persecute you in one city, flee into another: for verily I tell you, ye shall not finish your commission through the cities of Israel, before the Son of man shall come.

⁵² Therefore every teacher, who has been thus instructed in the knowledge of the kingdom of heaven, is like a master of a family, who brings forth out of his store things new and old.

¹⁹ Go ye therefore and instruct all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Ghost, ²⁰ and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.

⁴⁹ And therefore the wisdom of God hath said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute: ⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets which has been shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, ⁵¹ who perished between the altar and the temple. Verily I tell you, it shall be required of this generation.

⁴⁷ and that in his name should be preached repentance and remission of sins to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

² for they will excommunicate you: yea, the time is coming, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he offers an acceptable service to God.

²¹ Then said Jesus unto them again, Peace be to you. As my Father sent me, even so send I you.

⁸ But ye shall receive power from the holy Spirit coming upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

⁵⁸ and cast him out of the city and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man, whose name was Saul. ⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

¹ But Saul still breathing out threatnings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came to the high priest, and desired of him letters to the synagogues at Damascus, ² that if he should find any of this persuasion, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

²⁷ And in these days came down prophets from Jerusalem to Antioch.

² And he cut off James, the brother of John, with the sword.

¹ Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers, as Barnabas, and Simeon called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenean, and Manaen who had been educated with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul;

³² And Judas and Silas being prophets also themselves, exhorted and established: the brethren by many discourses.

¹⁹ And I said, Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and scourged in the synagogues them that believed on Thee. ²⁰ And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also stood by and consented to his death, and kept the clothes of them that slew him.

⁶ Yet we speak true wisdom among the perfect: though not the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who come to nought.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise architect I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon: but let every one see to it how he buildeth thereon.

³ I must acquaint you, that no one speaking by the Spirit of God, calleth Jesus a curse: and no one can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the holy Ghost. ⁴ Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit: and there are different offices, but the same Lord: ⁵ and there are diversities of operations, ⁶ but it is the same God who worketh them all in every one. ⁷ But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the advantage of all. ⁸ For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; ⁹ to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; ¹⁰ to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another the discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: ¹¹ but all these worketh that one and the same Spirit distributing to every one in particular as He sees fit.

²⁴ From the Jews I have five times received forty stripes save one. ²⁵ Thrice I have been beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I have been shipwrecked, and was a night and a day on the deep:

⁸ Wherefore it is said, "When he ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men." ⁹ Now this expression "He ascended" what does it mean, but that He descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. ¹¹ And therefore He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; to qualify holy men for the work of the ministry, ¹² to the edifying of the body of Christ:

²⁸ whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain by the sword: they went about in sheep-skins, and goat-skins, being destitute, afflicted,

¹⁰ And those that dwell upon the earth shall triumph over them, and be merry, and send presents to one another: because these two prophets had tormented those that dwelt on the earth.

⁵¹ who perished between the altar and the temple. Verily I tell you, it shall be required of this generation.

⁴ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God bearing witness to his gifts: and by it, though dead, he yet speaketh.

²⁴ and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than Abel.

¹¹ for this is the injunction which ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another: not as Cain who was of the evil one, and slew his brother; ¹² and why did he slay him? because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

²⁴ And herein was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

³⁴ Verily I tell you, this generation shall not pass away, till all these be fulfilled.

³⁰ Verily I tell you, that this generation shall not pass away until all these things be fulfilled. ³¹ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words cannot pass away.

³² Verily I tell you, this generation shall not pass away till all be accomplished. ³³ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

¹² rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great will be your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets, that were before you.

³ and sent his servants to call those that were invited to the wedding: and they would not come.

⁶ and others seized his servants, and shamefully abused them, and slew them.

³⁰ and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been concerned with them in shedding the blood of the prophets:

³ and they took him and beat him, and sent him away empty. ⁴ And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they threw stones, and wounded him on the head, and sent him away shamefully used. ⁵ And again, he sent another; and him they killed: and many others, beating some, and killing others. ⁶ Having yet therefore one Son, his beloved, he sent him also at last unto them, saying, they will reverence my Son.

³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets and stonest them that are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and ye would not? ³⁵ Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I assure you ye shall not see me again till the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.

¹⁷ and sent his servant at supper-time to say to them that were invited, Come, for all things are now ready. ¹⁸ And they all with one consent began to make excuses; the first said, I have bought a field, and I must go and see it, pray have me excused. ¹⁹ And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and am going to try them, pray have me excused. ²⁰ And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

²⁸ Therefore his father came out and desired him.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. ¹⁵ And when he was returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to be called to him, to whom he had delivered the money, that he might know what use each had made of it. ¹⁶ Then came the first and said, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. ¹⁷ And he said to him, Well done, thou good servant, as thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt be governor over ten cities. ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath produced five pounds: ¹⁹ and he said to this likewise, Be thou also over five cities. ²⁰ And another came, and said, Behold, my Lord, thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: ²¹ for I was afraid of thee, because thou art an austere man, who takest up what thou didst not lay down, and reapest what thou didst not sow. ²² But he said to him, Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant, Thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping what I did not sow; ²³ and why then didst thou not put my money into the bank, that when I came I might have received it with interest? ²⁴ And he said to them that stood by, Take away the pound from him, and give it to him that hath the ten pounds. ²⁵ (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds already:) ²⁶ for I tell you, that to every one that hath shall be given; but from him that hath not, even what he seemingly hath shall be taken away. ²⁷ But those mine enemies, who would not have me to reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. ²⁸ And when He had said these things, He went forward, going up to Jerusalem. ²⁹ And when He was nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, He sent two of his disciples, ³⁰ saying, Go into the opposite village, in which, at your entring, ye will find a colt tied, on which no man ever yet sat; loose him and bring him hither. ³¹ And if any one ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, The Lord hath need of him. ³² And they that were sent, went away and found it as He had told them. ³³ But as they were untying the colt, the owners of it said to them, Why do ye untie the colt? ³⁴ and they answered, The Lord hath need of him. ³⁵ And they brought him to Jesus: and throwing their garments upon the colt they set Jesus thereon. ³⁶ And as He went along they spread their clothes under Him in the way. ³⁷ And when He was now come near to the foot of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples rejoicing began to praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen, ³⁸ saying, Blessed be the king that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest! ³⁹ And some of the pharisees from among the multitude said to Him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. ⁴⁰ And He answered them, I tell you, that if these were silent, the very stones would cry out. ⁴¹ And as He drew near, beholding the city, He wept over it, ⁴² saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at lest in this thy day, the things relating to thy peace--- but now they are hid from thine eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast up a trench about thee, and surround thee, and keep thee in on every side, ⁴⁴ and shall lay thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another: because thou didst not regard the time of thy visitation.

¹¹ And he sent another servant; and they beat him also and abused him, and sent him away empty. ¹² And he sent a third; and they wounded him also and drove him out. ¹³ Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: perhaps when they see Him they will reverence Him. ¹⁴ But when the husbandmen saw Him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir, come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

¹⁵ who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; who are displeasing to God, and contrary to all men:

⁷ And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the abyss, will make war against them, and overcome them, and kill them. ⁸ And their dead bodies shall fall in the street of the great city, which is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

⁶ And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great amazement.

² But Jesus said unto them, Do ye see all these things? Verily I tell you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be demolished.

¹⁴ Now when ye shall see the desolating abomination, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, set up where it ought not to be, (let him that readeth, attend) then let those in Judea flee to the mountains:

³⁵ Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and I assure you ye shall not see me again till the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.

⁶ the days will come, in which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be demolished.

²⁰ And when ye shall see Jerusalem surrounded with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh: then let them that are in Judea flee to the mountains,

²⁴ and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trampled down by the Gentiles, till the times of the Gentiles too shall be fulfilled.

¹³ and they set up false witnesses; who said, This man is continually speaking blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law. ¹⁴ For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and change the rites which Moses delivered to us.

⁹ and the multitudes, that went before and that followed, cried saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: blessed be He that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

²⁶ And it was revealed to him by the holy Spirit, that he should not die before he had seen the Anointed of the Lord. ²⁷ And he came by the influence of the Spirit into the temple, as his parents brought in the child Jesus to do concerning Him according to the custom of the law: ²⁸ and he took Him into his arms, ²⁹ and blessed God, and said, "Now, Lord, thou dismissest thy servant in peace, according to thy word; ³⁰ for mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast provided in the sight of all people,

²² All things are delivered to me by my Father: and none knoweth who the Son is, but the Father: and who the Father is, but the Son; and he to whom the Son pleaseth to reveal Him. ²³ And turning to the disciples, He said to them in particular, Blessed are the eyes that see what ye see:

²² And He said to the disciples, the time will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and shall not see it.

²¹ Jesus therefore said unto them again, "I am going away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: where I go ye cannot come."

²⁴ Therefore I said unto you, that ye shall die in your sins; for if ye believe not that I am the Messiah, ye shall die in your sins.

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham longed to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

⁹ Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long with you, and dost thou not know me? Philip, he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father: and how then dost thou say, Shew us the Father?

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world shall see me no more; but ye shall see me: and because I live, ye shall live also.

²⁵ For I would not have you, brethren, to be ignorant of this mystery, (least ye should be wise in your own eyes) that blindness in part is befallen Israel, till the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

¹⁴ for unto this day the same veil remaineth unremoved in the reading of the old testament, which veil is taken away in Christ. ¹⁵ But to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. ¹⁶ Though when it turneth unto the Lord, the veil is taken off: ¹⁷ now the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. ¹⁸ But we all with unveiled face beholding, as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are transformed according to the same image from glory to glory, as proceeding from the Spirit of the Lord.
