²⁵ I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord; so then, I myself indeed with the mind do serve the law of God, and with the flesh, the law of sin.

¹⁵ They confess to Jehovah His kindness, And His wonders to the sons of men. ¹⁶ For He hath broken doors of brass, And bars of iron He hath cut.

¹⁶ Cause it to come, O Jehovah, for I am Thy servant. I am Thy servant, son of Thy handmaid, Thou hast opened my bonds. ¹⁷ To Thee I sacrifice a sacrifice of thanks, And in the name of Jehovah I call.

¹ And thou hast said in that day: `I thank thee, O Jehovah, Though Thou hast been angry with me, Turn back doth Thine anger, And Thou dost comfort me.

⁹ To say to the bound, Go out, To those in darkness, Be uncovered. On the ways they feed, And in all high places is their pasture.

¹³ Sing, O heavens, and joy, O earth, And break forth, O mountains, with singing, For comforted hath Jehovah His people, And His afflicted ones He doth pity.

²¹ and she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.'

¹⁴ for sin over you shall not have lordship, for ye are not under law, but under grace.

¹⁷ and thanks to God, that ye were servants of the sin, and—were obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which ye were delivered up;

¹⁵ for that which I work, I do not acknowledge; for not what I will, this I practise, but what I hate, this I do. ¹⁶ And if what I do not will, this I do, I consent to the law that it is good, ¹⁷ and now it is no longer I that work it, but the sin dwelling in me, ¹⁸ for I have known that there doth not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh, good: for to will is present with me, and to work that which is right I do not find, ¹⁹ for the good that I will, I do not; but the evil that I do not will, this I practise. ²⁰ And if what I do not will, this I do, it is no longer I that work it, but the sin that is dwelling in me. ²¹ I find, then, the law, that when I desire to do what is right, with me the evil is present, ²² for I delight in the law of God according to the inward man, ²³ and I behold another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of the sin that is in my members. ²⁴ A wretched man I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death?

⁵⁷ and to God—thanks, to Him who is giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ;

¹⁵ thanks also to God for His unspeakable gift!

⁹ and He said to me, `Sufficient for thee is My grace, for My power in infirmity is perfected;' most gladly, therefore, will I rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of the Christ may rest on me: ¹⁰ wherefore I am well pleased in infirmities, in damages, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses—for Christ; for whenever I am infirm, then I am powerful;

¹⁷ for the flesh doth desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that ye may will—these ye may not do; ¹⁸ and if by the Spirit ye are led, ye are not under law. ¹⁹ And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects, ²¹ envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit. ²² And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, ²³ meekness, temperance: against such there is no law; ²⁴ and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;

²⁰ giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the God and Father;

³ for we are the circumcision, who by the Spirit are serving God, and glorying in Christ Jesus, and in flesh having no trust,

⁶ for nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer, and by supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God;

¹⁷ and all, whatever ye may do in word or in work, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus—giving thanks to the God and Father, through him.

⁵ and ye yourselves, as living stones, are built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

⁹ and ye are a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences ye may shew forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light;
