Nehemiah 8:1-5 And all the people gathered themselves together as one man in the street that was at the face of the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.

1 H5971 And all the people H622 [H8735] gathered themselves together H259 as one H376 man H7339 in the street H6440 that was at the face of H4325 the water H8179 gate; H559 [H8799] and they spoke H5830 to Ezra H5608 [H8802] the scribe H935 [H8687] to bring H5612 the book H8451 of the law H4872 of Moses, H3068 which the LORD H6680 [H8765] had commanded H3478 to Israel.

2 H5830 And Ezra H3548 the priest H935 [H8686] brought H8451 the law H6440 at the face of H6951 the congregation H376 both of men H802 and women, H8085 [H8800] and all that could hear H995 [H8688] with understanding, H259 upon the first H3117 day H7637 of the seventh H2320 month.

3 H7121 [H8799] And he read H6440 in it at the face of H7339 the street H6440 that was at the face of H4325 the water H8179 gate H216 from the light H4276 H3117 until midday, H582 before the men H802 and the women, H995 [H8688] and those that could understand; H241 and the ears H5971 of all the people H5612 were attentive to the book H8451 of the law.

4 H5830 And Ezra H5608 [H8802] the scribe H5975 [H8799] stood H4026 upon a pulpit H6086 of wood, H6213 [H8804] which they had made H1697 for the purpose; H681 and beside H5975 [H8799] him stood H4993 Mattithiah, H8087 and Shema, H6043 and Anaiah, H223 and Urijah, H2518 and Hilkiah, H4641 and Maaseiah, H3225 on his right hand; H8040 and on his left hand, H6305 Pedaiah, H4332 and Mishael, H4441 and Malchiah, H2828 and Hashum, H2806 and Hashbadana, H2148 Zechariah, H4918 and Meshullam.

5 H5830 And Ezra H6605 [H8799] opened H5612 the book H5869 in the eyes H5971 of all the people; H5971 (for he was above all the people; H6605 [H8800] ) and when he opened H5971 it, all the people H5975 [H8804] stood up:
