CLV⁽ⁱ⁾ ²² saying that "The Son of Mankind must be suffering much, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be roused." ²³ Now He said to all, "If anyone is wanting to come after Me, let him disown himself and pick up his cross daily and follow Me." ²⁴ For whosoever may be wanting to save his soul, shall be destroying it, yet whoever should be destroying his soul on My account, he shall be saving it." ²⁵ For what does a man benefit, gaining the whole world, yet destroying or forfeiting himself?
