ECB⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹² Now be it known to the sovereign, that the Yah Hudiym who ascended from you to us come to Yeru Shalem, and are building the rebellious and wicked city: and finishing the walls thereof and joining the foundations. ¹³ Now be it known to the sovereign, that, if this city is built and the walls finished, then they give not tribute, excise and custom; and thus damage the revenue of the sovereigns. ¹⁴ Now, because we are salted with the salt of the manse; and it is not convenient for us to see the nakedness of the sovereign; so we send and make known to the sovereign; ¹⁵ to search the scroll of the records of your fathers: and find in the scroll of the records and know that this city is a rebellious city and damaging to sovereigns and jurisdictions; and that they have rebels in their midst from eternal days: for which cause this city is desolated:
