Isaiah 37

ECB(i) 1 And so be it, when sovereign Yechizqi Yah hears, he rips his clothes and covers himself with saq, and goes into the house of Yah Veh. 2 And he sends El Yaqim who is over the household, and Shebna the scribe and the elders of the priests covered with saq, to Yesha Yah the prophet the son of Amos: 3 and they say to him, Thus says Yechizqi Yah, This day is a day of tribulation and of rebuke and of scorning: for the sons come to the matrix and there is no strength to birth. 4 Perhaps Yah Veh your Elohim hears the words of Rab Shaqeh, whom the sovereign of Ashshur his adoni sent to reproach the living Elohim, and to reprove the words Yah Veh your Elohim heard: and to lift your prayer for the survivors who survive. 5 And the servants of sovereign Yechizqi Yah come to Yesha Yah: 6 and Yesha Yah says to them, You, say thus to your adoni, Thus says Yah Veh, Awe not at the face of the words you heard, wherewith the lads of the sovereign of Ashshur blasphemed me. 7 Behold, I give a spirit on him, and he hears a report, and returns to his own land; and I fell him by the sword in his own land. 8 And Rab Shaqeh returns, and finds the sovereign of Ashshur fighting Libnah: for he heard that he departed from Lachish: 9 and he heard say concerning Tirhaqah sovereign of Kush, He comes to fight you. And he hears, and sends angels to Yechizqi Yah, saying, 10 You, say thus to Yechizqi Yah sovereign of Yah Hudah, saying, Let not your Elohim, in whom you confide, deceive you, saying, Yeru Shalem is not given into the hand of the sovereign of Ashshur. 11 Behold, you heard what the sovereigns of Ashshur worked to all lands by devoting them - and rescue you? 12 The elohim of the goyim whom my fathers ruined - Gozan and Haran and Reseph and the sons of Eden which were in Telassar - rescued they them? 13 Where is the sovereign of Hamath? And the sovereign of Arphad? And the sovereign of the city of Sepharvayim, Hena, and Avvah? 14 And Yechizqi Yah takes the scroll from the hand of the angels, and calls it out: and Yechizqi Yah ascends to the house of Yah Veh and spreads it at the face of Yah Veh: 15 and Yechizqi Yah prays to Yah Veh, saying, 16 O Yah Veh Sabaoth, Elohim of Yisra El, who settles on the cherubim - you Elohim - you only of all the sovereigndoms of the earth; who worked the heavens and earth: 17 spread your ear, O Yah Veh, and hear; open your eyes, O Yah Veh, and see: and hear all the words of Sancherib, who sent to reproach the living Elohim. 18 Truly, O Yah Veh, the sovereigns of Ashshur parched all the lands, and their lands; 19 and gave their elohim into the fire: for they are no elohim - only the work of human hands, timber and stone: they destroyed them. 20 And now, O Yah Veh our Elohim, save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth know that you are Yah Veh - you only. 21 And Yesha Yah the son of Amos sends to Yechizqi Yah, saying, Thus says Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El, That which you prayed to me against Sancherib sovereign of Ashshur, 22 this is the word Yah Veh words concerning him: The virgin, the daughter of Siyon, despises you, ridicules you; the daughter of Yeru Shalem shakes her head behind you. 23 Whom reproach you? And blaspheme? And against whom exalt you your voice? And lift your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Yisra El! 24 By the hand of your servants you reproach Adonay, and say, By the abundance of my chariots I ascend to the height of the mountains - to the flanks of Lebanon; and I cut down the height of the cedars and the choice fir trees: and I enter the height of his edge and the forest of his Karmel/orchard: 25 I dig and drink water; and with the sole of my steps I parch all the rivers of the rampart. 26 Heard you not in the distant past, that I worked it? Of ancient days, that I formed it? now I bring it to become, for you to waste fortified cities into desolate heaps. 27 And their settlers are short handed - dismayed and shamed - as the herbage of the field and as the green sprouts; as the grass on the roofs and as the field at the face of the stalks. 28 And I know your sitting and your coming and your going; and your quaking against me: 29 because of your quaking against me your uproar ascends into my ears: I set my hook in your nostrils and my bit in your lips; and I turn you back by the way you came. 30 And this is a sign to you, This year you eat the spontaneous growth; and the second year the spontaneous growth: and in the third year you seed and harvest and plant vineyards and eat the fruit. 31 And the escapees of the house of Yah Hudah who survive again take root downward and work fruit upward: 32 for survivors come from Yeru Shalem and the escapees from mount Siyon: the zeal of Yah Veh Sabaoth works this. 33 So Yah Veh says thus concerning the sovereign of Ashshur, He neither comes into this city, nor shoots an arrow there; neither anticipates with buckler, nor pours a bank against it. 34 By the way he came, by the same he returns, and comes not into this city - an oracle of Yah Veh. 35 For I garrison this city to save it for my own sake and for sake of my servant David. 36 And the angel of Yah Veh goes and smites a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the camp of Ashshur: and they start early in the morning, and behold, they are all dead carcases. 37 And Sancherib sovereign of Ashshur pulls stakes, and goes and returns and settles at Nineveh. 38 And so be it, as he prostrates in the house of Nisroch his elohim, that his sons Adram Melech and Shareser smite him with the sword; and they escape into the land of Ararat: and Esar Chaddon his son reigns in his stead.
