IYOB ANSWERS
And Iyob answers and says, 2 Truly I know, and so be it; and how is man justified with El? 3 If he desires to contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand. 4 He is wise in heart and strong in force. Who hardens against him and shalams? 5 Who removes mountains and they know not? Who overturns them in his wrath? 6 Who shakes the earth from her place and the pillars thereof tremble? 7 Who says to the sun and it rises not? And seals the stars? 8 Who alone spreads out the heavens and treads on the bamahs of the sea? 9 Who works Ash, Kesil and Kimah and the chambers of the south? 10 Who works great - unable to be probed? Yes, and marvels without number? 11 Behold, he passes by me and I see him not; and he passes on, and I discern him not. 12 Behold, he seizes! Who turns him back? Who says to him, What work you? 13 Elohah turns not back his wrath; the proud helpers prostrate under him. 14 How much less answer I him? - choose out my words with him? 15 Whom, though I am justified, yet I answer not; but seek charism from my judge. 16 Though I call and he answers me not yet I trust that he hearkens to my voice; 17 though he crushes me with a whirling and abounds my wounds gratuitously; 18 though he gives to not return my spirit but satiates me with bitternesses - 19 If of force, behold, he is strong! If of judgment, who congregates to me? 20 If I justify myself, my own mouth judges me wicked; I - integrious, it also perverts me; 21 I - integrious, yet I know not my soul; I spurn my life. 22 This is one, so I say, He finishes off the integrious and the wicked. 23 If the whip suddenly deathifies, he derides at the testing of the innocent. 24 He gives the earth into the hand of the wicked; he covers the faces of the judges; If not, where and who is he? 25 My days are swifter than a runner; they flee away; they see no good; 26 they pass away as the ships of yearning - as the eagle pounces for food. 27 If I say, I forget my meditation I forsake my face and relax 28 I fear all my contortions - I know you exonerate me not. 29 I - I am wicked! Why this? Why labor I in vain? 30 If I bathe myself with snow water and cleanse my palms in purity; 31 yet you dip me in the pit of ruin and my own clothes abhor me. 32 For he is not a man as I, that I answer him and we come together in judgment. 33 There is no reprover between us to place his hand on us both. 34 He turns aside his scion from me; his terror frightens me not; 35 I word, and awe him not; but not so with me.
