56 But a certain maid-servant who sat at the fire, eyeing him, and looking at him stedfastly, said, This man was also with him.
57 But he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58 And after a little while another seeing him, said, Surely thou art one of them. Then said Peter, Man, I am not.
59 And at about an hour's distance, another person strongly asserted, saying, Of a certainty this fellow was also with him: for he too is a Galilean.
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And instantly, while he was yet speaking, the cock crew.
61 And the Lord, turning round, looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, That before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
