1 Samuel 28:3-7 ושׁמואל Now Samuel מת was dead, ויספדו had lamented לו כל and all ישׂראל Israel ויקברהו him, and buried ברמה him in Ramah, ובעירו even in his own city. ושׁאול And Saul הסיר had put away האבות those that had familiar spirits, ואת הידענים and the wizards, מהארץ׃ out of the land.

4 H6908 ויקבצו gathered themselves together, H6430 פלשׁתים And the Philistines H935 ויבאו and came H2583 ויחנו and pitched H7766 בשׁונם in Shunem: H6908 ויקבץ H7586 שׁאול and Saul H853 את H3605 כל H3478 ישׂראל H2583 ויחנו and they pitched H1533 בגלבע׃ in Gilboa.

5 H7200 וירא saw H7586 שׁאול And when Saul H853 את H4264 מחנה the host H6430 פלשׁתים of the Philistines, H3372 וירא he was afraid, H2729 ויחרד trembled. H3820 לבו and his heart H3966 מאד׃ greatly

6 H7592 וישׁאל inquired H7586 שׁאול And when Saul H3068 ביהוה of the LORD, H3808 ולא him not, H6030 ענהו answered H3068 יהוה the LORD H1571 גם neither H2472 בחלמות by dreams, H1571 גם nor H224 באורים by Urim, H1571 גם nor H5030 בנביאם׃ by prophets.

7 H559 ויאמר Then said H7586 שׁאול Saul H5650 לעבדיו unto his servants, H1245 בקשׁו Seek H802 לי אשׁת me a woman H1172 בעלת that hath H178 אוב a familiar spirit, H1980 ואלכה that I may go H413 אליה to H1875 ואדרשׁה her, and inquire H559 בה ויאמרו said H5650 עבדיו of her. And his servants H413 אליו to H2009 הנה him, Behold, H802 אשׁת a woman H1172 בעלת that hath H178 אוב a familiar spirit H5874 בעין דור׃ at Endor.
