MKJV(i)
And answering, the angel said to him, I am Gabriel, who stands before God. And I am sent to speak to you and to show you these glad tidings.

And behold, you shall be silent and not able to speak until the day that these things shall be performed, because you did not believe my words which shall be fulfilled in their time.

And the people waited for Zacharias and marveled that he stayed so long in the temple.

And when he came out, he could not speak to them. And they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he was making signs to them, and remained speechless.

And as soon as the days of his service were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

And after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived and hid herself five months, saying,

So the Lord has dealt with me in the days in which He looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary.

And the angel came in to her and said, Hail, one receiving grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women.

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what kind of greeting this might be.

And the angel said to her, Do not fear, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

And behold! You shall conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call His name JESUS.

He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God shall give Him the throne of His father David.

And He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.

Then Mary said to the angel, How shall this be, since I do not know a man?

And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit shall come on you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you. Therefore also that Holy One which will be born of you shall be called Son of God.

And behold, your cousin Elizabeth also conceived a son in her old age. And this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

And Mary said, Behold the servant of the Lord. Let it be to me according to your word. And the angel departed from her.

And Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah.

And she entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

And it happened as Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,

and cried out with a loud voice and said, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

And from where is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

For lo, as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

And blessed is she who believes, for there shall be a perfecting of those things which were told her from the Lord.

And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord,

and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

For He looked on the humiliation of His slave woman. For, behold, from now on all generations shall count me blessed.

For the Mighty One has done great things for me; and holy is His name.

And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.

He has worked power with His arm, He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.

He has put down rulers from their seats and exalted the lowly,

He has filled the hungry with good things, and He has sent away the rich empty.

He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy,

as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever.

And Mary stayed with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

And the time was fulfilled to Elizabeth for her to bear. And she bore a son.
