Matthew(i)
And these sonnes of Remon the Berothite, Rechab and Baanah went, & came in the heat of the daye to the house of Isboseth as he slept on a bed at none.
And behold they came into the house as thoughe they wold haue bought whete, & smote hym vnder the short ribbes, and fled.
For they came into the house as he slept on hys bed in hys restynge chamber, and smote hym, and slue hym, & beheaded hym, and toke hys head, and gat them away thorowe the wylde feldes al nyght.
And they brought the head of Isboseth vnto Dauid to Hebron and sayde to the kynge: behold there the head of Isboseth Sauls sonne thyne enemye, whiche soughte thy soule. But the Lorde hath aduenged my Lorde the kynge this day, of Saule and of hys seede.
And Dauid aunswered Rechab and Baanah hys brother, the sonnes of Reman the Berothite, and sayde vnto them: as surelye as the Lorde lyueth whiche hath delyuered my soule out of all aduersites:
hym that told me howe that Saul was dead, thynkyng to haue brought me good tydynges, I caught & slew in Zikeleg, to geue hym a rewarde for his tydynges bringing.
And how much more ought I so to deale with weked men that haue slayne a ryghtuouse person in hys owne house vpon hys bed. Now therfore thynke ye that I wyll not requyre hys bloude of youre handes and take you from the earth?
And Dauid commaunded hys younge men, and they slue them and cut of theyr handes and theyr fete & hanged them vp by the pole in Hebron. And they toke the head of Isboseth, and buryed in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
