Jesus said to him, "A certain man made a great dinner and invited many,
and sent his servant at the hour of the dinner to tell the guests, 'Come, for things are now ready.'
But they all began with one mind to make excuse. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field and must go and see it. I beg of you to have me excused.'
Another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen and I am going to try them. I beg of you, have me excused.'
Another said, 'I have married a wife and on that account I cannot come.'
The servant came back and told his master these things. Then the householder, becoming angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city and lead in here the poor and maimed and blind and lame.'
The servant said, 'Master, what you ordered has been done and still there is room.'
The master said to the servant, 'Go out into the roads and hedges and make them come in, so that my house may be filled.
I tell you not one of those men that were invited shall taste of my dinner.' "
