And the wall of the city had twelve foundations on which were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
And he who was talking with me had a golden reed to measure the city and its gates and its wall.
Now the city is a square and its length is as much as its breadth. And he measured the city with the rod twelve thousand furlongs; the length and the breadth and the height are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, a hundred and forty four cubits, the measure of a man which is that of an angel.
And its wall was built of jasper and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone. The first foundation was jasper; and the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;
the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardus; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, hyacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.
And the "twelve gates were twelve pearls. Every several gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
