9 And when he opened the fifth seal I saw under the altar the souls of them who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they had borne.
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O sovereign, the holy one and the true, dost thou defer judging and avenging our blood on the inhabitants of the earth?"
11 And to every of them were given white robes and they were told that they should rest yet a little while till their fellow servants and their brethren who were about to be slain as well as they were completed.
12 And I looked when he opened the sixth seal. And behold there was a great earthquake. And the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair; and the moon was like blood;
13 and the stars of heaven fell on the earth as a fig tree sheddeth its unripe figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind;
14 and the heaven recoiled like a scroll rolled up; and every mountain and island were moved from their places,
15 and the kings of the earth and the nobles and the rich and the chief commanders and the under officers and every bondman and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains,
16 saying to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall upon us, and hide us from the face of him who is sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb,
17 for the great day of His wrath is come and who is able to stand?"
