¹⁹ ἐλεύσομαι (I will come) δὲ (however) ταχέως (shortly) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ἐὰν (if) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) θελήσῃ (wills), καὶ (and) γνώσομαι (I will find out) οὐ (not) τὸν (the) λόγον (talk) τῶν (of those) πεφυσιωμένων (being puffed up), ἀλλὰ (but) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power).

²¹ ἀλλὰ (but) ἀποταξάμενος (having taken leave) καὶ (and) εἰπών (having said), “Πάλιν (Again) ἀνακάμψω (I will return) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) θέλοντος (willing),” ἀνήχθη (he sailed) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) Ἐφέσου (Ephesus),

²¹ Ὡς (After) δὲ (now) ἐπληρώθη (were fulfilled) ταῦτα (these things), ἔθετο (purposed) ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) πνεύματι (Spirit), διελθὼν (having passed through) τὴν (-) Μακεδονίαν (Macedonia) καὶ (and) Ἀχαΐαν (Achaia), πορεύεσθαι (to go) εἰς (to) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem), εἰπὼν (having said) ὅτι (-), “Μετὰ (After) τὸ (-) γενέσθαι (having been) με (my) ἐκεῖ (there), δεῖ (it behooves) με (me) καὶ (also) Ῥώμην (Rome) ἰδεῖν (to see).”

² διελθὼν (Having passed through) δὲ (then) τὰ (the) μέρη (districts) ἐκεῖνα (those), καὶ (and) παρακαλέσας (having exhorted) αὐτοὺς (them) λόγῳ (with talk) πολλῷ (much), ἦλθεν (he came) εἰς (to) τὴν (-) Ἑλλάδα (Greece).

³² ἵνα (so that) ἐν (in) χαρᾷ (joy), ἐλθὼν (having come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) διὰ (by the) θελήματος (will) Θεοῦ (of God), συναναπαύσωμαι (I may be refreshed with) ὑμῖν (you).

⁶ Σοφίαν (Wisdom) δὲ (however) λαλοῦμεν (we speak) ἐν (among) τοῖς (the) τελείοις (mature); σοφίαν (wisdom) δὲ (however), οὐ (not) τοῦ (the) αἰῶνος (age) τούτου (of this), οὐδὲ (nor) τῶν (of the) ἀρχόντων (rulers) τοῦ (the) αἰῶνος (age) τούτου (of this), τῶν (who) καταργουμένων (are coming to naught).

¹⁸ Ὡς (As to) μὴ (not) ἐρχομένου (coming) δέ (now) μου (of me) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ἐφυσιώθησάν (have become puffed up) τινες (some).

³⁴ εἴ (If) τις (anyone) πεινᾷ (is hungry), ἐν (at) οἴκῳ (home) ἐσθιέτω (let him eat), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) εἰς (for) κρίμα (judgment) συνέρχησθε (you might come together). Τὰ (-) δὲ (And) λοιπὰ (the other things), ὡς (as soon as) ἂν (-) ἔλθω (I might come), διατάξομαι (I will set in order).

⁵ Θέλω (I desire) δὲ (now) πάντας (all) ὑμᾶς (you) λαλεῖν (to speak) γλώσσαις (in tongues), μᾶλλον (rather) δὲ (however) ἵνα (that) προφητεύητε (you should prophesy); μείζων (greater is) δὲ (now) ὁ (the one) προφητεύων (prophesying) ἢ (than) ὁ (the one) λαλῶν (speaking) γλώσσαις (in tongues), ἐκτὸς (except) εἰ (if) μὴ (not) διερμηνεύῃ (he should interpret), ἵνα (so that) ἡ (the) ἐκκλησία (church) οἰκοδομὴν (edification) λάβῃ (might receive).

⁵ Ἐλεύσομαι (I will come) δὲ (however) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ὅταν (when) Μακεδονίαν (Macedonia) διέλθω (I shall have gone through); Μακεδονίαν (Macedonia) γὰρ (for) διέρχομαι (I am going through).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ταύτῃ (with this) τῇ (-) πεποιθήσει (confidence) ἐβουλόμην (I was planning) πρότερον (previously) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐλθεῖν (to come), ἵνα (so that) δευτέραν (a second) χάριν (blessing of grace) σχῆτε (you might have), ¹⁶ καὶ (and) δι’ (through) ὑμῶν (you) διελθεῖν (to pass through) εἰς (into) Μακεδονίαν (Macedonia), καὶ (and) πάλιν (again) ἀπὸ (from) Μακεδονίας (Macedonia) ἐλθεῖν (to come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) ὑφ’ (by) ὑμῶν (you) προπεμφθῆναι (to be set forward) εἰς (to) τὴν (-) Ἰουδαίαν (Judea). ¹⁷ Τοῦτο (Thus) οὖν (therefore) βουλόμενος (purposing), μήτι (not) ἄρα (then) τῇ (-) ἐλαφρίᾳ (lightness) ἐχρησάμην (did I use)? ἢ (Or) ἃ (what) βουλεύομαι (I purpose), κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) βουλεύομαι (do I purpose), ἵνα (so that) ᾖ (there should be) παρ’ (with) ἐμοὶ (me) τό (-) “Ναί (Yes), ναὶ (yes),” καὶ (and) τὸ (-) “Οὔ (No), οὔ (no)?”?

²³ Ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however), μάρτυρα (as witness) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐπικαλοῦμαι (call) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (my) ψυχήν (soul), ὅτι (that) φειδόμενος (sparing) ὑμῶν (you), οὐκέτι (not yet) ἦλθον (have I come) εἰς (to) Κόρινθον (Corinth).

¹ Ἔκρινα (I judged) γὰρ* (for) ἐμαυτῷ (within myself) τοῦτο (this), τὸ (-) μὴ (not) πάλιν (again) ἐν (in) λύπῃ (grief) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐλθεῖν (to come). ² εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) ἐγὼ (I) λυπῶ (grieve) ὑμᾶς (you) καὶ (again), τίς (who) ὁ (-) εὐφραίνων (is gladdening) με (me), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) λυπούμενος (being grieved) ἐξ (by) ἐμοῦ (me)?

¹ Τρίτον (Third) τοῦτο (this time) ἔρχομαι (I am coming) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you). “Ἐπὶ (In the) στόματος (mouth) δύο (of two) μαρτύρων (witnesses) καὶ (or) τριῶν (three), σταθήσεται (will be established) πᾶν (every) ῥῆμα (matter).” ² Προείρηκα (I have warned) καὶ (and) προλέγω (I warn), ὡς (as) παρὼν (being present) τὸ (the) δεύτερον (second time), καὶ (and) ἀπὼν (being absent) νῦν (now) τοῖς (those) προημαρτηκόσιν (having sinned before), καὶ (and) τοῖς (the) λοιποῖς (rest) πᾶσιν (all), ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (if) ἔλθω (I come) εἰς (to) τὸ (the same) πάλιν (again), οὐ (not) φείσομαι (I will spare anyone), ³ ἐπεὶ (since) δοκιμὴν (a proof) ζητεῖτε (you seek), τοῦ (-) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (me) λαλοῦντος (speaking) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ὃς (who) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you) οὐκ (not) ἀσθενεῖ (is weak), ἀλλὰ (but) δυνατεῖ (is powerful) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you). ⁴ καὶ (And) γὰρ (for) ἐσταυρώθη (He was crucified) ἐξ (in) ἀσθενείας (weakness), ἀλλὰ (yet) ζῇ (He lives) ἐκ (by) δυνάμεως (power) Θεοῦ (God’s). καὶ (Also) γὰρ (for) ἡμεῖς (we) ἀσθενοῦμεν (are weak) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him), ἀλλὰ (but) ζήσομεν (we will live) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐκ (by) δυνάμεως (power) Θεοῦ (God’s) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you).

³ καὶ (And) τοῦτο (this) ποιήσομεν (we will do), ἐάνπερ (if) ἐπιτρέπῃ (permits) ὁ (-) Θεός (God).

¹⁵ Ἀντὶ (Instead ought) τοῦ (-) λέγειν (to say) ὑμᾶς (you), “Ἐὰν (If) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) θελήσῃ (should will), καὶ (both) ζήσομεν (we will live) καὶ (and) ποιήσομεν (we will do) τοῦτο (this) ἢ (or) ἐκεῖνο (that).”
