³³ Καὶ (And) ἀκούσαντες (having heard), οἱ (the) ὄχλοι (crowds) ἐξεπλήσσοντο (were astonished) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

²⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass), ὅτε (when) ἐτέλεσεν (had finished) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), ἐξεπλήσσοντο (were astonished) οἱ (the) ὄχλοι (crowds) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁹ ἦν (He was) γὰρ (for) διδάσκων (teaching) αὐτοὺς (them) ὡς (as) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἔχων (having), καὶ (and) οὐχ (not) ὡς (as) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) αὐτῶν (of them).

²² Καὶ (And) ἀκούσαντες (having heard), ἐθαύμασαν (they marveled); καὶ (and) ἀφέντες (having left) αὐτὸν (Him), ἀπῆλθαν (they went away).

² καὶ (And) γενομένου (having come) σαββάτου (the Sabbath), ἤρξατο (He began) διδάσκειν (to teach) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) συναγωγῇ (synagogue); καὶ (and) οἱ (-) πολλοὶ (many) ἀκούοντες (hearing) ἐξεπλήσσοντο (were astonished), λέγοντες (saying), “Πόθεν (From where) τούτῳ (to this man) ταῦτα (these things), καὶ (and) τίς (what is) ἡ (the) σοφία (wisdom) ἡ (-) δοθεῖσα (having been given) τούτῳ (to Him), καὶ (even) αἱ (the) δυνάμεις (miracles), τοιαῦται (such) διὰ (by) τῶν (the) χειρῶν (hands) αὐτοῦ (of Him) γινόμεναι (are done)?

¹⁷ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Τὰ (The things) Καίσαρος (of Caesar), ἀπόδοτε (give back) Καίσαρι (to Caesar), καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God).” Καὶ (And) ἐξεθαύμαζον (they were amazed) ἐπ’ (at) αὐτῷ (Him).

⁴⁷ ἐξίσταντο (Were amazed) δὲ (then) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) ἀκούοντες (hearing) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) συνέσει (understanding) καὶ (and) ταῖς (the) ἀποκρίσεσιν (answers) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

²² Καὶ (And) πάντες (all) ἐμαρτύρουν (were bearing witness) αὐτῷ (to Him) καὶ (and) ἐθαύμαζον (marveling) ἐπὶ (at) τοῖς (the) λόγοις (words) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) τοῖς (that) ἐκπορευομένοις (are proceeding) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) ἔλεγον (they were saying), “Οὐχὶ (Not) υἱός (the son) ἐστιν (is) Ἰωσὴφ (of Joseph) οὗτος (this)?”

³⁹ Ἀποκριθέντες (Answering) δέ (now), τινες (some) τῶν (of the) γραμματέων (scribes) εἶπαν (said), “Διδάσκαλε (Teacher), καλῶς (well) εἶπας (you have spoken).” ⁴⁰ οὐκέτι (No longer) γὰρ (then) ἐτόλμων (did they dare) ἐπερωτᾶν (to ask) αὐτὸν (Him) οὐδέν (anything).

⁴⁶ Ἀπεκρίθησαν (Answered) οἱ (the) ὑπηρέται (officers), “Οὐδέποτε (Never) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) οὕτως (like this) ἄνθρωπος (a man), 〈ὡς (as) οὗτος (this) λαλεῖ (speaks) ὁ (-) ἄνθρωπος〉 (man).”
