⁸ τότε (Then) λέγει (he says) τοῖς (to) δούλοις (servants) αὐτοῦ (of him), ‘Ὁ (The) μὲν (indeed) γάμος (wedding feast) ἕτοιμός (ready) ἐστιν (is); οἱ (those) δὲ (however) κεκλημένοι (having been invited) οὐκ (not) ἦσαν (were) ἄξιοι (worthy).

¹¹ Εἰς (Into) ἣν (whatever) δ’ (now) ἂν (-) πόλιν (city) ἢ (or) κώμην (village) εἰσέλθητε (you enter), ἐξετάσατε (inquire) τίς (who) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) ἄξιός (worthy) ἐστιν (is), κἀκεῖ (and there) μείνατε (remain) ἕως (until) ἂν (-) ἐξέλθητε (you go forth). ¹² εἰσερχόμενοι (Entering) δὲ (now) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) οἰκίαν (house), ἀσπάσασθε (greet) αὐτήν (it). ¹³ καὶ (And) ἐὰν (if) μὲν (indeed) ᾖ (be) ἡ (the) οἰκία (house) ἀξία (worthy), ἐλθάτω (let come) ἡ (the) εἰρήνη (peace) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτήν (it); ἐὰν (if) δὲ (however) μὴ (not) ᾖ (it be) ἀξία (worthy), ἡ (the) εἰρήνη (peace) ὑμῶν (of you) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐπιστραφήτω (let return).

³⁷ Ὁ (The one) φιλῶν (loving) πατέρα (father) ἢ (or) μητέρα (mother) ὑπὲρ (above) ἐμὲ (Me), οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) μου (of Me) ἄξιος (worthy); καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) φιλῶν (loving) υἱὸν (son) ἢ (or) θυγατέρα (daughter) ὑπὲρ (above) ἐμὲ (Me), οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) μου (of Me) ἄξιος (worthy). ³⁸ καὶ (And) ὃς (he who) οὐ (not) λαμβάνει (takes) τὸν (the) σταυρὸν (cross) αὐτοῦ (of him) καὶ (and) ἀκολουθεῖ (follows) ὀπίσω (after) μου (Me), οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) μου (of Me) ἄξιος (worthy).

³⁵ οἱ (those) δὲ (however) καταξιωθέντες (having been considered worthy) τοῦ (to the) αἰῶνος (age) ἐκείνου (that which is) τυχεῖν (to obtain), καὶ (and) τῆς (the) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) τῆς (which is) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), οὔτε (neither) γαμοῦσιν (marry) οὔτε (nor) γαμίζονται (are given in marriage);

³⁶ ἀγρυπνεῖτε (Watch) δὲ (also) ἐν (at) παντὶ (every) καιρῷ (season), δεόμενοι (praying) ἵνα (that) κατισχύσητε (you may have strength) ἐκφυγεῖν (to escape) ταῦτα (these things) πάντα (all) τὰ (that) μέλλοντα (are about) γίνεσθαι (to come to pass) καὶ (and) σταθῆναι (to stand) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man).”

⁴⁶ Παρρησιασάμενοί (Having spoken boldly) τε (also), ὁ (-) Παῦλος (Paul) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) Βαρνάβας (Barnabas) εἶπαν (said), “Ὑμῖν (To you) ἦν (it was) ἀναγκαῖον (necessary) πρῶτον (first) λαληθῆναι (to be spoken) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God); ἐπειδὴ (but since) ἀπωθεῖσθε (you thrust away) αὐτὸν (it) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἀξίους (worthy) κρίνετε (you judge) ἑαυτοὺς (yourselves) τῆς (-) αἰωνίου (of eternal) ζωῆς (life), ἰδοὺ (behold), στρεφόμεθα (we are turning) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles).

⁵ Ἔνδειγμα (This is a plain token) τῆς (of the) δικαίας (righteous) κρίσεως (judgment) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), εἰς (unto) τὸ (-) καταξιωθῆναι (to be accounted worthy) ὑμᾶς (you) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὑπὲρ (for) ἧς (which) καὶ (also) πάσχετε (you suffer).

⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἔχεις (you have) ὀλίγα (a few) ὀνόματα (people) ἐν (in) Σάρδεσιν (Sardis) ἃ (who) οὐκ (not) ἐμόλυναν (have soiled) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) περιπατήσουσιν (they will walk) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (in) λευκοῖς (white), ὅτι (because) ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are).

¹⁴ Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πλύνοντες (washing) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (that) ἔσται (will be) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (right) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) ξύλον (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) τοῖς (by the) πυλῶσιν (gates) εἰσέλθωσιν (they shall enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city).
