ἡ (The) σωτηρία (salvation) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (to the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us)! ² ὅτι (For) ἀληθιναὶ (true) καὶ (and) δίκαιαι (righteous are) αἱ (the) κρίσεις (judgments) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (He has judged) τὴν (the) πόρνην (prostitute) τὴν (-) μεγάλην (great), ἥτις (who) ἔφθειρεν (had corrupted) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) ἐν (with) τῇ (the) πορνείᾳ (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her), καὶ (and) ἐξεδίκησεν (He has avenged) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) τῶν (of the) δούλων (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἐκ (out of) χειρὸς (the hand) αὐτῆς (of her).” ³ Καὶ (And) δεύτερον (a second time) εἴρηκαν (they said): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! καὶ (And) ὁ (the) καπνὸς (smoke) αὐτῆς (of her) ἀναβαίνει (goes up) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).” ⁴ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσαν (fell down) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) οἱ (-) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἀμήν (Amen), Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)!” ⁵ Καὶ (And) φωνὴ (a voice) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐξῆλθεν (came forth), λέγουσα (saying): “Αἰνεῖτε (Praise) τῷ (the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), πάντες (all) οἱ (the) δοῦλοι (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‹καὶ› (and) οἱ (those) φοβούμενοι (fearing) αὐτόν (Him), οἱ (the) μικροὶ (small) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) μεγάλοι (great)!” ⁶ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (the voice) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (the sound) ὑδάτων (of waters) πολλῶν (many), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (a sound) βροντῶν (of thunders) ἰσχυρῶν (mighty), λεγόντων (saying): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ὅτι (For) ἐβασίλευσεν (has reigned) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ἡμῶν (of us) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty). ⁷ χαίρωμεν (We should rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιῶμεν (should exult), καὶ (and) δώσομεν (will give) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῷ (to Him), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ὁ (the) γάμος (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (bride) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἡτοίμασεν (has made ready) ἑαυτήν (herself). ⁸ καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (it was given) αὐτῇ (to her) ἵνα (that) περιβάληται (she should be clothed in) βύσσινον (fine linen), λαμπρὸν (bright), καθαρόν (pure).” Τὸ (-) γὰρ (For) βύσσινον (the fine linen), τὰ (the) δικαιώματα (righteousness acts) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) ἐστίν (is). ⁹ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Γράψον (Write), ‘Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τοῦ (of the) γάμου (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) κεκλημένοι (having been invited).’” καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) ἀληθινοὶ (true) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰσιν (are).” ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσα (I fell) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτοῦ (of him) προσκυνῆσαι (to worship) αὐτῷ (him). καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (A fellow servant) σού (with you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you), τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)! ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) μαρτυρία (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit) τῆς (-) προφητείας (of prophecy).” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war). ¹² οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὀφθαλμοὶ (the eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) [ὡς] (are like) φλὸξ (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διαδήματα (royal crowns) πολλά (many), ἔχων (having) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (knows), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) αὐτός (He Himself), ¹³ καὶ (and) περιβεβλημένος (having been clothed with) ἱμάτιον (a garment) βεβαμμένον (having been dipped) αἵματι (in blood). καὶ (And) κέκληται (is called) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ὁ (The) Λόγος (Word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) τὰ (who were) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) ἠκολούθει (were following) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐφ’ (upon) ἵπποις (horses) λευκοῖς (white), ἐνδεδυμένοι (having been clothed in) βύσσινον (fine linen), λευκὸν (white), καθαρόν (pure). ¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth) ῥομφαία (a sword) ὀξεῖα (sharp), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (with) αὐτῇ (it) πατάξῃ (He may strike down) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron). καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) πατεῖ (treads) τὴν (the) ληνὸν (press) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty). ¹⁶ καὶ (And) ἔχει (He has) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) ἱμάτιον (robe) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) μηρὸν (thigh) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written): ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ (King) ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ (of Kings) ΚΑΙ (and) ΚΥΡΙΟΣ (Lord) ΚΥΡΙΩΝ (of Lords). ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἕνα (one) ἄγγελον (angel) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἡλίῳ (sun), καὶ (and) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγων (saying) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) ὀρνέοις (birds) τοῖς (-) πετομένοις (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), “Δεῦτε (Come), συνάχθητε (gather yourselves) εἰς (unto) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τὸ (-) μέγα (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ¹⁸ ἵνα (so that) φάγητε (you may eat) σάρκας (the flesh) βασιλέων (of kings), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) χιλιάρχων (of commanders), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἰσχυρῶν (of mighty men), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἵππων (of horses) καὶ (and) τῶν (of those) καθημένων (sitting) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) πάντων (of all), ἐλευθέρων (free) τε (both) καὶ (and) δούλων (slaves), καὶ (and) μικρῶν (small) καὶ (and) μεγάλων (great).” ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπιάσθη (was captured) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet), ὁ (the one) ποιήσας (having done) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (him), ἐν (by) οἷς (which) ἐπλάνησεν (he deceived) τοὺς (those) λαβόντας (having received) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), ζῶντες (living) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) οἱ (the) δύο (two) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire), τῆς (-) καιομένης (burning) ἐν (with) θείῳ (brimstone). ²¹ καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (with) τῇ (the) ῥομφαίᾳ (sword) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) τῇ (-) ἐξελθούσῃ (having gone forth) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of him). Καὶ (And) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ὄρνεα (birds) ἐχορτάσθησαν (were filled) ἐκ (with) τῶν (the) σαρκῶν (flesh) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹³ Καὶ (And) μὴ (not) εἰσενέγκῃς (lead) ἡμᾶς (us) εἰς (into) πειρασμόν (temptation), Ἀλλὰ (but) ῥῦσαι (deliver) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) πονηροῦ (evil).’

¹⁶ ἀλλὰ (But) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), ἠλεήθην (I was shown mercy), ἵνα (that) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (me), πρώτῳ (the foremost), ἐνδείξηται (might display) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) Χριστὸς (Christ) τὴν (-) ἅπασαν (perfect) μακροθυμίαν (patience), πρὸς (as) ὑποτύπωσιν (a pattern) τῶν (for those) μελλόντων (being about) πιστεύειν (to believe) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῷ (Him), εἰς (to) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal). ¹⁷ Τῷ (To) δὲ (now) Βασιλεῖ (the King) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), ἀφθάρτῳ (the immortal), ἀοράτῳ (invisible), μόνῳ (only) Θεῷ (God), τιμὴ (be honor) καὶ (and) δόξα (glory), εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages). ἀμήν (Amen).

¹⁰ πεσοῦνται (will fall) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), καὶ (and) βαλοῦσιν (they will cast) τοὺς (the) στεφάνους (crowns) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγοντες (saying): ¹¹ “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You), ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἡμῶν (of us), λαβεῖν (to receive) τὴν (-) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τὴν (-) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) τὴν (-) δύναμιν (power); ὅτι (for) σὺ (You) ἔκτισας (created) τὰ (-) πάντα (all things), καὶ (and) διὰ (because of) τὸ (the) θέλημά (will) σου (of You) ἦσαν (they existed), καὶ (and) ἐκτίσθησαν (were created).”

⁹ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) ᾠδὴν (a song) καινὴν (new), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You) λαβεῖν (to take) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), καὶ (and) ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὰς (the) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὅτι (because) ἐσφάγης (You were slain), καὶ (and) ἠγόρασας (You purchased) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματί (blood) σου (of You), ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) φυλῆς (tribe) καὶ (and) γλώσσης (tongue) καὶ (and) λαοῦ (people) καὶ (and) ἔθνους (nation), ¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐποίησας (You have made) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), βασιλείαν (a kingdom) καὶ (and) ἱερεῖς (priests); καὶ (and) βασιλεύσουσιν (they will reign) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (the voice) ἀγγέλων (of angels) πολλῶν (many) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders); καὶ (and) ἦν (was) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number) αὐτῶν (of them) μυριάδες (myriads) μυριάδων (of myriads) καὶ (and) χιλιάδες (thousands) χιλιάδων (of thousands), ¹² λέγοντες (saying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud): “Ἄξιόν* (Worthy) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) τὸ (-) ἐσφαγμένον (having been slain), λαβεῖν (to receive) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) καὶ (and) πλοῦτον (riches) καὶ (and) σοφίαν (wisdom) καὶ (and) ἰσχὺν (strength) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) εὐλογίαν (blessing)!” ¹³ Καὶ (And) πᾶν (every) κτίσμα (creature) ὃ (which) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ὑποκάτω (under) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) 〈ἐστίν〉 (is), καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) πάντα (everything), ἤκουσα (I heard) λέγοντας (saying): “Τῷ (To the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb), ἡ (-) εὐλογία (blessing) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) τὸ (-) κράτος (might) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).”

¹⁰ καὶ (And) κράζουσιν (they were crying out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἡ (-) σωτηρία (Salvation) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb)!” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) εἱστήκεισαν (stood) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἔπεσαν (they fell) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ¹² λέγοντες (saying), “Ἀμήν (Amen)! ἡ (-) εὐλογία (Blessing), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) σοφία (wisdom), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) εὐχαριστία (thanksgiving), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δύναμις (power), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) ἰσχὺς (strength), τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages)! ἀμήν (Amen).”

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) φωναὶ (voices) μεγάλαι (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἐγένετο (Has become) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), τοῦ (that of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) βασιλεύσει (He will reign) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).”

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγουσαν (saying): “Ἄρτι (Now) ἐγένετο (have come) ἡ (the) σωτηρία (salvation), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (authority) τοῦ (the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὅτι (because) ἐβλήθη (has been thrown down) ὁ (the) κατήγωρ (accuser) τῶν (of the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) ἡμῶν (of us), ὁ (the one) κατηγορῶν (accusing) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτός (night).

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλον (another) ἄγγελον (angel) καταβαίνοντα (descending) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), ἔχοντα (having) ἐξουσίαν (authority) μεγάλην (great); καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) ἐφωτίσθη (was illuminated) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) δόξης (glory) αὐτοῦ (of him). ² καὶ (And) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) ἐν (in) ἰσχυρᾷ (a mighty) φωνῇ (voice), λέγων (saying): “Ἔπεσεν (Fallen), ἔπεσεν (Fallen is) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great)! καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (she has become) κατοικητήριον (a habitation) δαιμονίων (of demons), καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) πνεύματος (spirit) ἀκαθάρτου (unclean), καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) ὀρνέου (bird) ἀκαθάρτου (unclean), ‹καὶ (and) φυλακὴ (a prison) παντὸς (of every) θηρίου (creature) ἀκαθάρτου› (unclean) καὶ (and) μεμισημένου (having been hated). ³ ὅτι (For) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τῆς (of the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her), πέπωκαν (have drunk) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); καὶ (and) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) μετ’ (with) αὐτῆς (her) ἐπόρνευσαν (have committed sexual immorality); καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἔμποροι (merchants) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) ἐκ (through) τῆς (the) δυνάμεως (power) τοῦ (of the) στρήνους (sensuality) αὐτῆς (of her) ἐπλούτησαν (have been enriched).” ⁴ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) ἄλλην (another) φωνὴν (voice) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λέγουσαν (saying): “Ἐξέλθατε (Come) ὁ (the) λαός (people) μου (of me), ἐξ (out of) αὐτῆς (her), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) συνκοινωνήσητε (you may have fellowship) ταῖς (in the) ἁμαρτίαις (sins) αὐτῆς (of her), καὶ (and) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πληγῶν (plagues) αὐτῆς (of her) ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) λάβητε (you may receive). ⁵ ὅτι (For) ἐκολλήθησαν (have been heaped) αὐτῆς (her) αἱ (-) ἁμαρτίαι (sins) ἄχρι (as high as) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἐμνημόνευσεν (has remembered) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὰ (the) ἀδικήματα (iniquities) αὐτῆς (of her). ⁶ ἀπόδοτε (Give back) αὐτῇ (to her) ὡς (as) καὶ (also) αὐτὴ (she) ἀπέδωκεν (has rendered); καὶ (and) διπλώσατε (pay back double) τὰ (to her), διπλᾶ (twofold) κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτῆς (of her). ἐν (In) τῷ (the) ποτηρίῳ (cup) ᾧ (which) ἐκέρασεν (she has mixed), κεράσατε (mix) αὐτῇ (to her) διπλοῦν (double). ⁷ ὅσα (So much as) ἐδόξασεν (she has glorified) αὑτὴν (herself) καὶ (and) ἐστρηνίασεν (lived in luxury), τοσοῦτον (as much) δότε (give) αὐτῇ (to her) βασανισμὸν (torment) καὶ (and) πένθος (misery), ὅτι (because) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) καρδίᾳ (heart) αὐτῆς (of herself) λέγει (she says) ὅτι (-), ‘Κάθημαι (I sit) βασίλισσα (as a queen), καὶ (and) χήρα (a widow) οὐκ (never) εἰμί (I am), καὶ (and) πένθος (mourning) οὐ (never) μὴ (not) ἴδω (shall I see).’ ⁸ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), ἐν (in) μιᾷ (one) ἡμέρᾳ (day) ἥξουσιν (will come) αἱ (the) πληγαὶ (plagues) αὐτῆς (of her), θάνατος (death) καὶ (and) πένθος (misery) καὶ (and) λιμός (famine); καὶ (and) ἐν (with) πυρὶ (fire) κατακαυθήσεται (she will be burned up), ὅτι (because) ἰσχυρὸς (mighty is the) Κύριος (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God), ὁ (the One) κρίνας (having judged) αὐτήν (her).” ⁹ Καὶ (And) κλαύσουσιν (will weep) καὶ (and) κόψονται (will wail) ἐπ’ (for) αὐτὴν (her) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), οἱ (the ones) μετ’ (with) αὐτῆς (her) πορνεύσαντες (having committed sexual immorality) καὶ (and) στρηνιάσαντες (having lived luxuriously), ὅταν (when) βλέπωσιν (they see) τὸν (the) καπνὸν (smoke) τῆς (of the) πυρώσεως (burning) αὐτῆς (of her), ¹⁰ ἀπὸ (from) μακρόθεν (afar) ἑστηκότες (standing) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) φόβον (fear) τοῦ (of the) βασανισμοῦ (torment) αὐτῆς (of her), λέγοντες (saying): “Οὐαὶ (Woe), οὐαί (woe), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great), Βαβυλὼν (Babylon), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) ἰσχυρά (strong)! ὅτι (For in) μιᾷ (one) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) κρίσις (judgment) σου (of you).” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) ἔμποροι (merchants) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) κλαίουσιν (weep) καὶ (and) πενθοῦσιν (mourn) ἐπ’ (for) αὐτήν (her), ὅτι (because) τὸν (the) γόμον (cargo) αὐτῶν (of them), οὐδεὶς (no one) ἀγοράζει (buys) οὐκέτι (no longer) — ¹² γόμον (cargo) χρυσοῦ (of gold), καὶ (and) ἀργύρου (of silver), καὶ (and) λίθου (of stone) τιμίου (precious), καὶ (and) μαργαριτῶν (of pearls); καὶ (and) βυσσίνου (of fine linen), καὶ (and) πορφύρας (of purple), καὶ (and) σιρικοῦ (of silk), καὶ (and) κοκκίνου (of scarlet); καὶ (and) πᾶν (all) ξύλον (wood) θύϊνον (citron) καὶ (and) πᾶν (every) σκεῦος (article) ἐλεφάντινον (of ivory) καὶ (and) πᾶν (every) σκεῦος (article) ἐκ (of) ξύλου (wood) τιμιωτάτου (most precious); καὶ (and) χαλκοῦ (of bronze), καὶ (and) σιδήρου (of iron), καὶ (and) μαρμάρου (of marble); ¹³ καὶ (and) κιννάμωμον (cinnamon), καὶ (and) ἄμωμον (spice), καὶ (and) θυμιάματα (incense), καὶ (and) μύρον (myrrh), καὶ (and) λίβανον (frankincense); καὶ (and) οἶνον (wine), καὶ (and) ἔλαιον (oil), καὶ (and) σεμίδαλιν (finest flour), καὶ (and) σῖτον (wheat); καὶ (and) κτήνη (cattle), καὶ (and) πρόβατα (sheep), καὶ (and) ἵππων (of horses), καὶ (and) ῥεδῶν (of chariots); καὶ (and) σωμάτων (of slaves) καὶ (and) ψυχὰς (souls) ἀνθρώπων (of men). ¹⁴ “Καὶ (And) ἡ (the) ὀπώρα (ripe fruit) σου (of you) τῆς (of the) ἐπιθυμίας (desire) τῆς (of the) ψυχῆς (soul) ἀπῆλθεν (are departed) ἀπὸ (from) σοῦ (you), καὶ (and) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) λιπαρὰ (sumptuous things) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) λαμπρὰ (splendid things) ἀπώλετο (have departed) ἀπὸ (from) σοῦ (you), καὶ (and) οὐκέτι (no longer) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) αὐτὰ (them) εὑρήσουσιν (they will find).” ¹⁵ Οἱ (The) ἔμποροι (merchants) τούτων (of these things) οἱ (-) πλουτήσαντες (having been enriched) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῆς (her), ἀπὸ (from) μακρόθεν (afar) στήσονται (will stand), διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) φόβον (fear) τοῦ (of the) βασανισμοῦ (torment) αὐτῆς (of her), κλαίοντες (weeping) καὶ (and) πενθοῦντες (mourning), ¹⁶ λέγοντες (saying): “Οὐαὶ (Woe), οὐαί (woe), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great), ἡ (-) περιβεβλημένη (having been clothed with) βύσσινον (fine linen) καὶ (and) πορφυροῦν (purple) καὶ (and) κόκκινον (scarlet), καὶ (and) κεχρυσωμένη (having been adorned) ἐν (with) χρυσίῳ (gold) καὶ (and) λίθῳ (stone) τιμίῳ (precious) καὶ (and) μαργαρίτῃ (pearl)! ¹⁷ ὅτι (For in) μιᾷ (one) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἠρημώθη (has been brought to desolation) ὁ (-) τοσοῦτος (such great) πλοῦτος (wealth).” Καὶ (And) πᾶς (every) κυβερνήτης (shipmaster), καὶ (and) πᾶς (all) ὁ (those) ἐπὶ (to) τόπον (a place) πλέων (sailing), καὶ (and) ναῦται (sailors), καὶ (and) ὅσοι (as many as) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea) ἐργάζονται (trade by), ἀπὸ (at) μακρόθεν (a distance) ἔστησαν (stood), ¹⁸ καὶ (and) ἔκραζον (were crying out), βλέποντες (seeing) τὸν (the) καπνὸν (smoke) τῆς (of the) πυρώσεως (burning) αὐτῆς (of her), λέγοντες (saying), ‘Τίς (What is) ὁμοία (like) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) τῇ (-) μεγάλῃ (great)?’ ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἔβαλον (they cast) χοῦν (dust) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἔκραζον (they were crying out), κλαίοντες (weeping) καὶ (and) πενθοῦντες (mourning), λέγοντες (saying): “Οὐαὶ (Woe), οὐαί (woe), ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great), ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) ἐπλούτησαν (were enriched) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) ἔχοντες (having) τὰ (-) πλοῖα (ships) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) θαλάσσῃ (sea) ἐκ (through) τῆς (the) τιμιότητος (wealth) αὐτῆς (of her)! ὅτι (For) μιᾷ (in one) ὥρᾳ (hour) ἠρημώθη (she has been brought to desolation).” ²⁰ “Εὐφραίνου (Rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτῇ (her), οὐρανέ (O heaven), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἅγιοι (you saints), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἀπόστολοι (apostles), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) προφῆται (prophets), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (did judge) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ὑμῶν (for you) ἐξ (against) αὐτῆς (her).” ²¹ Καὶ (And) ἦρεν (took up) εἷς (one) ἄγγελος (angel) ἰσχυρὸς (a mighty) λίθον (stone), ὡς (like) μύλινον (a millstone) μέγαν (great), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (cast it) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), λέγων (saying): “Οὕτως (Thus) ὁρμήματι (with violence) βληθήσεται (will be cast down) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) πόλις (city), καὶ (and) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εὑρεθῇ (shall be found) ἔτι (any longer). ²² καὶ (And) φωνὴ (sound) κιθαρῳδῶν (of harpists) καὶ (and) μουσικῶν (musicians), καὶ (and) αὐλητῶν (flute players) καὶ (and) σαλπιστῶν (trumpeters), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀκουσθῇ (shall be heard) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer). καὶ (And) πᾶς (any) τεχνίτης (craftsmen) πάσης (of any) τέχνης (craft) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εὑρεθῇ (shall be found) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer), καὶ (and) φωνὴ (the sound) μύλου (of a millstone) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀκουσθῇ (shall be heard) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer). ²³ καὶ (And) φῶς (the light) λύχνου (of lamp), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) φάνῃ (shall shine) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer); καὶ (and) φωνὴ (the voice) νυμφίου (of a bridegroom) καὶ (and) νύμφης (a bride), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀκουσθῇ (shall be heard) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer); ὅτι (for) οἱ (the) ἔμποροί (merchants) σου (of you) ἦσαν (were) οἱ (the) μεγιστᾶνες (great ones) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), ὅτι (because) ἐν (by) τῇ (the) φαρμακείᾳ (sorcery) σου (of you) ἐπλανήθησαν (were deceived) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations).” ²⁴ Καὶ (And) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (her) αἷμα (the blood) προφητῶν (of prophets) καὶ (and) ἁγίων (of saints) εὑρέθη (was found), καὶ (and) πάντων (of all) τῶν (those) ἐσφαγμένων (having been slain) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

³ Καὶ (And) δεύτερον (a second time) εἴρηκαν (they said): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! καὶ (And) ὁ (the) καπνὸς (smoke) αὐτῆς (of her) ἀναβαίνει (goes up) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).” ⁴ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσαν (fell down) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) οἱ (-) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἀμήν (Amen), Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)!”

⁶ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (the voice) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (the sound) ὑδάτων (of waters) πολλῶν (many), καὶ (and) ὡς (like) φωνὴν (a sound) βροντῶν (of thunders) ἰσχυρῶν (mighty), λεγόντων (saying): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ὅτι (For) ἐβασίλευσεν (has reigned) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ἡμῶν (of us) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ἔκραξαν (they were crying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἕως (Until) πότε (when), ὁ (O) Δεσπότης (Lord), ὁ (-) ἅγιος (holy) καὶ (and) ἀληθινός (true), οὐ (not) κρίνεις (do You judge), καὶ (and) ἐκδικεῖς (avenge) τὸ (the) αἷμα (blood) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐκ (from) τῶν (those) κατοικούντων (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth)?”

³ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) Μωϋσέως (of Moses), τοῦ (the) δούλου (servant) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), λέγοντες (saying): “Μεγάλα (Great) καὶ (and) θαυμαστὰ (wonderful are) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) σου (of You), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty)! δίκαιαι (Righteous) καὶ (and) ἀληθιναὶ (true are) αἱ (the) ὁδοί (ways) σου (of You), ὁ (O) Βασιλεὺς (King) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations)!

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τοῦ (the) ἀγγέλου (angel) τῶν (of the) ὑδάτων (waters) λέγοντος (saying): “Δίκαιος (Righteous) εἶ (are You), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being), καὶ (and) ὁ (-) ἦν (having been), ὁ (O) Ὅσιος (holy One), ὅτι (because) ταῦτα (these things) ἔκρινας (You have judged), ⁶ ὅτι (because) αἷμα (the blood) ἁγίων (of saints) καὶ (and) προφητῶν (of prophets) ἐξέχεαν (they have poured out), καὶ (and) αἷμα (blood) αὐτοῖς (to them) δέδωκας (You have given) πιεῖν* (to drink); ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are).” ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) λέγοντος (saying): “Ναί (Yes), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ἀληθιναὶ (true) καὶ (and) δίκαιαι (righteous are) αἱ (the) κρίσεις (judgments) σου (of You).”

¹ Καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (came) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλων (angels) τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls), καὶ (and) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Δεῦρο (Come here), δείξω (I will show) σοι (you) τὸ (the) κρίμα (punishment) τῆς (of the) πόρνης (prostitute) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), τῆς (the one) καθημένης (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) ὑδάτων (waters) πολλῶν (many), ² μεθ’ (with) ἧς (whom) ἐπόρνευσαν (have committed sexual immorality) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐμεθύσθησαν (have been made drunk) οἱ (those that) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) τὴν (on the) γῆν (earth) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τῆς (of the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her).”

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Τὰ (The) ὕδατα (waters) ἃ (that) εἶδες (you saw), οὗ (where) ἡ (the) πόρνη (prostitute) κάθηται (sits), λαοὶ (peoples) καὶ (and) ὄχλοι (multitudes) εἰσὶν (are), καὶ (and) ἔθνη (nations) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαι (tongues). ¹⁶ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns) ἃ (that) εἶδες (you saw), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), οὗτοι (these) μισήσουσιν (will hate) τὴν (the) πόρνην (prostitute), καὶ (and) ἠρημωμένην (desolate) ποιήσουσιν (will make) αὐτὴν (her), καὶ (and) γυμνήν (naked); καὶ (and) τὰς (the) σάρκας (flesh) αὐτῆς (of her) φάγονται (they will eat), καὶ (and) αὐτὴν (her) κατακαύσουσιν (they will burn) ἐν (with) πυρί (fire).

³ ὅτι (For) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τῆς (of the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her), πέπωκαν (have drunk) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); καὶ (and) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) μετ’ (with) αὐτῆς (her) ἐπόρνευσαν (have committed sexual immorality); καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἔμποροι (merchants) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) ἐκ (through) τῆς (the) δυνάμεως (power) τοῦ (of the) στρήνους (sensuality) αὐτῆς (of her) ἐπλούτησαν (have been enriched).”

²⁰ “Εὐφραίνου (Rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτῇ (her), οὐρανέ (O heaven), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἅγιοι (you saints), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἀπόστολοι (apostles), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) προφῆται (prophets), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (did judge) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ὑμῶν (for you) ἐξ (against) αὐτῆς (her).”

⁷ ὡς (just as) Σόδομα (Sodom) καὶ (and) Γόμορρα (Gomorrah) καὶ (and) αἱ (the) περὶ (around) αὐτὰς (them) πόλεις (cities), τὸν (-) ὅμοιον (in like) τρόπον (manner) τούτοις (with them) ἐκπορνεύσασαι (having indulged in sexual immorality) καὶ (and) ἀπελθοῦσαι (having gone) ὀπίσω (after) σαρκὸς (flesh) ἑτέρας (strange), πρόκεινται (are set forth as) δεῖγμα (an example) πυρὸς (of fire) αἰωνίου (eternal) δίκην (the penalty) ὑπέχουσαι (undergoing).

¹¹ καὶ (And) ὁ (the) καπνὸς (smoke) τοῦ (of the) βασανισμοῦ (torment) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰς (to) αἰῶνας (ages) αἰώνων (of ages) ἀναβαίνει (goes up); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔχουσιν (have) ἀνάπαυσιν (rest) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτός (night) οἱ (those) προσκυνοῦντες (worshiping) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) εἰκόνα (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), καὶ (and) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) λαμβάνει (receives) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of it).”

⁹ Καὶ (And) κλαύσουσιν (will weep) καὶ (and) κόψονται (will wail) ἐπ’ (for) αὐτὴν (her) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), οἱ (the ones) μετ’ (with) αὐτῆς (her) πορνεύσαντες (having committed sexual immorality) καὶ (and) στρηνιάσαντες (having lived luxuriously), ὅταν (when) βλέπωσιν (they see) τὸν (the) καπνὸν (smoke) τῆς (of the) πυρώσεως (burning) αὐτῆς (of her),

¹⁸ καὶ (and) ἔκραζον (were crying out), βλέποντες (seeing) τὸν (the) καπνὸν (smoke) τῆς (of the) πυρώσεως (burning) αὐτῆς (of her), λέγοντες (saying), ‘Τίς (What is) ὁμοία (like) τῇ (the) πόλει (city) τῇ (-) μεγάλῃ (great)?’

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (something like) φωνὴν (a voice) μεγάλην (loud) ὄχλου (of a multitude) πολλοῦ (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λεγόντων (crying out): “Ἁλληλουϊά (Hallelujah)! ἡ (The) σωτηρία (salvation) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) δύναμις (power) τοῦ (to the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us)!

²⁰ διδάσκοντες (teaching) αὐτοὺς (them) τηρεῖν (to observe) πάντα (all things), ὅσα (whatever) ἐνετειλάμην (I commanded) ὑμῖν (you). καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἐγὼ (I) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) εἰμι (am) πάσας (all) τὰς (the) ἡμέρας (days), ἕως (until) τῆς (the) συντελείας (completion) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age).”

¹⁶ ἐπεὶ (Otherwise) ἐὰν (if) εὐλογῇς (you bless) [ἐν] (with the) πνεύματι (spirit), ὁ (the one) ἀναπληρῶν (filling) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) τοῦ (of the) ἰδιώτου (uninstructed), πῶς (how) ἐρεῖ (will he say) τὸ (the) “Ἀμήν (Amen)” ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (-) σῇ (your) εὐχαριστίᾳ (thanksgiving), ἐπειδὴ (since) τί (what) λέγεις (you say) οὐκ (not) οἶδεν (he knows)?

⁴ καὶ (And) κυκλόθεν (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), θρόνους (thrones) εἴκοσι (were twenty) τέσσαρες (four); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) θρόνους (thrones) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρας (four) πρεσβυτέρους (elders) καθημένους (sitting), περιβεβλημένους (having been clothed) ἐν (in) ἱματίοις (garments) λευκοῖς (white); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτῶν (of them), στεφάνους (crowns) χρυσοῦς (golden). ⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐκπορεύονται (come) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunderings). καὶ (And) ἑπτὰ (there were seven) λαμπάδες (lamps) πυρὸς (of fire) καιόμεναι (burning) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), ἅ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ὡς (was something like) θάλασσα (a sea) ὑαλίνη (of glass), ὁμοία (like) κρυστάλλῳ (crystal). καὶ (And) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τέσσαρα (were four) ζῷα (living creatures), γέμοντα (being full) ὀφθαλμῶν (of eyes) ἔμπροσθεν (in front) καὶ (and) ὄπισθεν (behind). ⁷ καὶ (And) τὸ (the) ζῷον (living creature) τὸ (-) πρῶτον (first) ὅμοιον (was like) λέοντι (a lion), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) δεύτερον (second) ζῷον (living creature) ὅμοιον (like) μόσχῳ (a calf), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) τρίτον (third) ζῷον (living creature) ἔχων (having) τὸ (the) πρόσωπον (face) ὡς (as) ἀνθρώπου (of a man), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) τέταρτον (fourth) ζῷον (living creature) ὅμοιον (like) ἀετῷ (an eagle) πετομένῳ (flying). ⁸ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures), ἓν (one) καθ’ (for) ἓν (one) αὐτῶν (of them) ἔχων (had) ἀνὰ (respectively) πτέρυγας (wings) ἕξ (six), κυκλόθεν (all around) καὶ (and) ἔσωθεν (within) γέμουσιν (full) ὀφθαλμῶν (of eyes); καὶ (and) ἀνάπαυσιν (rest) οὐκ (not) ἔχουσιν (they have) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἅγιος (Holy), ἅγιος (Holy), ἅγιος (Holy), Κύριος (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ὁ (the One) ἦν (having been), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) ὢν (being), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) ἐρχόμενος (coming).” ⁹ Καὶ (And) ὅταν (whenever) δώσουσιν (will give) τὰ (the) ζῷα (living creatures) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) εὐχαριστίαν (thanksgiving) τῷ (to the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), ¹⁰ πεσοῦνται (will fall) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), καὶ (and) βαλοῦσιν (they will cast) τοὺς (the) στεφάνους (crowns) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγοντες (saying):

⁸ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἔλαβεν (He had taken) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἔπεσαν (fell down) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), ἔχοντες (having) ἕκαστος (each) κιθάραν (a harp) καὶ (and) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (being full) θυμιαμάτων (of incenses), αἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) αἱ (the) προσευχαὶ (prayers) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints). ⁹ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) ᾠδὴν (a song) καινὴν (new), λέγοντες (saying), “Ἄξιος (Worthy) εἶ (are You) λαβεῖν (to take) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (scroll), καὶ (and) ἀνοῖξαι (to open) τὰς (the) σφραγῖδας (seals) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὅτι (because) ἐσφάγης (You were slain), καὶ (and) ἠγόρασας (You purchased) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐν (by) τῷ (the) αἵματί (blood) σου (of You), ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) φυλῆς (tribe) καὶ (and) γλώσσης (tongue) καὶ (and) λαοῦ (people) καὶ (and) ἔθνους (nation), ¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐποίησας (You have made) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), βασιλείαν (a kingdom) καὶ (and) ἱερεῖς (priests); καὶ (and) βασιλεύσουσιν (they will reign) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (the voice) ἀγγέλων (of angels) πολλῶν (many) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders); καὶ (and) ἦν (was) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number) αὐτῶν (of them) μυριάδες (myriads) μυριάδων (of myriads) καὶ (and) χιλιάδες (thousands) χιλιάδων (of thousands),

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) τέσσαρα (four) ζῷα (living creatures) ἔλεγον (kept saying), “Ἀμήν (Amen).” καὶ (And) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἔπεσαν (fell down) καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) φωναὶ (voices) μεγάλαι (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἐγένετο (Has become) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), τοῦ (that of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) βασιλεύσει (He will reign) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).” ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) οἱ (-) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God) καθήμενοι (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) θρόνους (thrones) αὐτῶν (of them) ἔπεσαν (fell) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God),

⁷ Καὶ (And) ἓν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures) ἔδωκεν (gave) τοῖς (to the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλοις (angels) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (full) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ζῶντος (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).

¹⁵ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτό (this), ‘Εἰσιν (They are) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) λατρεύουσιν (serve) αὐτῷ (Him) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) σκηνώσει (will tabernacle) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτούς (them).

¹⁸ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ὠργίσθησαν (were enraged), καὶ (and) ἦλθεν (came) ἡ (the) ὀργή (wrath) σου (of You), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time) τῶν (for the) νεκρῶν (dead) κριθῆναι (to be judged), καὶ (and) δοῦναι (to give) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) τοῖς (to the) δούλοις (servants) σου (of You), τοῖς (the) προφήταις (prophets), καὶ (and) τοῖς (to the) ἁγίοις (saints), καὶ (and) τοῖς (to those) φοβουμένοις (fearing) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You), τοὺς* (the) μικροὺς* (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς* (the) μεγάλους* (great), καὶ (and) διαφθεῖραι (to destroy) τοὺς (those who) διαφθείροντας (are destroying) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth).” ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὁ (-) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ὤφθη (was seen) ἡ (the) κιβωτὸς (ark) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake), καὶ (and) χάλαζα (hail) μεγάλη (great).

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ἀέρα (air), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (came out) φωνὴ (a voice) μεγάλη (loud) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγουσα (saying), “Γέγονεν (It is done)!”

¹² καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τοὺς (the) νεκρούς (dead), τοὺς (-) μεγάλους (great) καὶ (and) τοὺς (-) μικρούς (small), ἑστῶτας (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) βιβλία (books) ἠνοίχθησαν (were opened). Καὶ (And) ἄλλο (another) βιβλίον (book) ἠνοίχθη (was opened), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) τῆς (the one) ζωῆς (of life). καὶ (And) ἐκρίθησαν (were judged) οἱ (the) νεκροὶ (dead) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the things) γεγραμμένων (having been written) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) βιβλίοις (books), κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἔργα (deeds) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹⁵ καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅμοιοι (are like) χαλκολιβάνῳ (fine bronze), ὡς (as) ἐν (in) καμίνῳ (a furnace) πεπυρωμένης (having been refined); καὶ (and) ἡ (the) φωνὴ (voice) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (is like) φωνὴ (the voice) ὑδάτων (of waters) πολλῶν (many);

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐκπορεύονται (come) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunderings). καὶ (And) ἑπτὰ (there were seven) λαμπάδες (lamps) πυρὸς (of fire) καιόμεναι (burning) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), ἅ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I watched) ὅτε (when) ἤνοιξεν (opened) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) μίαν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) σφραγίδων (seals), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) ἑνὸς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures) λέγοντος (saying), ὡς (like) φωνῇ (a voice) βροντῆς (of thunder), “Ἔρχου (Come)!”

⁵ Καὶ (And) εἴληφεν (took) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) τὸν (the) λιβανωτόν (censer), καὶ (and) ἐγέμισεν (filled) αὐτὸν (it) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) πυρὸς (fire) τοῦ (of the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (cast it) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth); καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (rumblings), καὶ (and) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) σεισμός (an earthquake).

²² Καὶ (And) ναὸν (temple) οὐκ (not) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it); ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ναὸς (temple) αὐτῆς (of it) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb).

² “Ὡμοιώθη (Has become like) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens) ἀνθρώπῳ (to a man), βασιλεῖ (a king), ὅστις (who) ἐποίησεν (made) γάμους (a wedding feast) τῷ (for the) υἱῷ (son) αὐτοῦ (of him).

¹ Τότε (Then) ὁμοιωθήσεται (will be likened) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens) δέκα (to ten) παρθένοις (virgins), αἵτινες (who) λαβοῦσαι (having taken) τὰς (the) λαμπάδας (lamps) ἑαυτῶν (of them), ἐξῆλθον (went forth) εἰς (to) ὑπάντησιν (meet) τοῦ (the) νυμφίου (bridegroom). ² πέντε (Five) δὲ (now) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ἦσαν (were) μωραὶ (foolish), καὶ (and) πέντε (five) φρόνιμοι (wise). ³ αἱ (The) γὰρ (for) μωραὶ (foolish), λαβοῦσαι (having taken) τὰς (the) λαμπάδας (lamps) ‹αὐτῶν› (of them), οὐκ (not) ἔλαβον (did take) μεθ’ (with) ἑαυτῶν (them) ἔλαιον (oil); ⁴ αἱ (-) δὲ (but) φρόνιμοι (the wise) ἔλαβον (took) ἔλαιον (oil) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἀγγείοις (vessels), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) λαμπάδων (lamps) ἑαυτῶν (of them). ⁵ χρονίζοντος (Tarrying) δὲ (then) τοῦ (the) νυμφίου (bridegroom), ἐνύσταξαν (they became drowsy) πᾶσαι (all) καὶ (and) ἐκάθευδον (were sleeping). ⁶ Μέσης (At middle) δὲ (then) νυκτὸς (of the night), κραυγὴ (a cry) γέγονεν (there was): ‘Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom)! ἐξέρχεσθε (Go forth) εἰς (to) ἀπάντησιν (meet) ‹αὐτοῦ› (him)!’ ⁷ Τότε (Then) ἠγέρθησαν (arose) πᾶσαι (all) αἱ (the) παρθένοι (virgins) ἐκεῖναι (those) καὶ (and) ἐκόσμησαν (trimmed) τὰς (the) λαμπάδας (lamps) ἑαυτῶν (of them). ⁸ αἱ (-) δὲ (And) μωραὶ (the foolish) ταῖς (to the) φρονίμοις (wise) εἶπαν (said), ‘Δότε (Give) ἡμῖν (us) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ἐλαίου (oil) ὑμῶν (of you), ὅτι (for) αἱ (the) λαμπάδες (lamps) ἡμῶν (of us) σβέννυνται (are going out).’ ⁹ Ἀπεκρίθησαν (Answered) δὲ (then) αἱ (the) φρόνιμοι (wise), λέγουσαι (saying), ‘Μή¦Ποτε (Lest) οὐ (no) μὴ (not even) ἀρκέσῃ (it might suffice) ἡμῖν (for us) καὶ (and) ὑμῖν (you). πορεύεσθε (Go) μᾶλλον (rather) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (those) πωλοῦντας (selling), καὶ (and) ἀγοράσατε (buy) ἑαυταῖς (for yourselves).’ ¹⁰ Ἀπερχομένων (While are going away) δὲ (then) αὐτῶν (they) ἀγοράσαι (to buy), ἦλθεν (came) ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom), καὶ (and) αἱ (those) ἕτοιμοι (ready) εἰσῆλθον (went in) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) γάμους (wedding feast); καὶ (and) ἐκλείσθη (was shut) ἡ (the) θύρα (door).

³⁶ καὶ (and) ὑμεῖς (you), ὅμοιοι (like) ἀνθρώποις (to men) προσδεχομένοις (waiting for) τὸν (the) κύριον (master) ἑαυτῶν (of themselves), πότε (whenever) ἀναλύσῃ (he shall return) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) γάμων (wedding feasts), ἵνα (that) ἐλθόντος (having come) καὶ (and) κρούσαντος (having knocked), εὐθέως (immediately) ἀνοίξωσιν (they might open) αὐτῷ (to him).

²⁹ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) νύμφην (bride), νυμφίος (the bridegroom) ἐστίν (is); ὁ (the) δὲ (now) φίλος (friend) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom), ὁ (the one) ἑστηκὼς (standing) καὶ (and) ἀκούων (listening for) αὐτοῦ (him), χαρᾷ (with joy) χαίρει (rejoices) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) φωνὴν (voice) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom). αὕτη (This) οὖν (therefore), ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ἡ (-) ἐμὴ (of mine), πεπλήρωται (is fulfilled).

² ζηλῶ (I am jealous as to) γὰρ (for) ὑμᾶς (you) Θεοῦ (of God) ζήλῳ (with the jealousy); ἡρμοσάμην (I have betrothed) γὰρ (for) ὑμᾶς (you) ἑνὶ (to one) ἀνδρὶ (husband), παρθένον (a virgin) ἁγνὴν (pure) παραστῆσαι (to present) τῷ (-) Χριστῷ (to Christ).

²³ ὅτι (for) ἀνήρ (the husband) ἐστιν (is) κεφαλὴ (head) τῆς (of the) γυναικὸς (wife), ὡς (as) καὶ (also) ὁ (-) Χριστὸς (Christ) κεφαλὴ (is the head) τῆς (of the) ἐκκλησίας (church), αὐτὸς (He Himself) σωτὴρ (Savior) τοῦ (of the) σώματος (body).

³² τὸ (The) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦτο (this) μέγα (great) ἐστίν (is); ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (speak) εἰς (as to) Χριστὸν (Christ), καὶ (and) εἰς (as to) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church).

³ ἡμεῖς (We) γάρ (for) ἐσμεν (are) ἡ (the) περιτομή (circumcision), οἱ (those) Πνεύματι (in the Spirit) Θεοῦ (of God) λατρεύοντες (worshiping) καὶ (and) καυχώμενοι (glorying) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἐν (in) σαρκὶ (the flesh) πεποιθότες (having put confidence),

⁹ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Γράψον (Write), ‘Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τοῦ (of the) γάμου (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) κεκλημένοι (having been invited).’” καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) ἀληθινοὶ (true) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰσιν (are).”

² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy), Ἰερουσαλὴμ (the Jerusalem) καινὴν (new), εἶδον (I saw) καταβαίνουσαν (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἡτοιμασμένην (having been prepared) ὡς (as) νύμφην (a bride) κεκοσμημένην (having been adorned) τῷ (for the) ἀνδρὶ (husband) αὐτῆς (of her).

⁹ Καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (came) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλων (angels), τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) τῶν (-) γεμόντων (being full) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) πληγῶν (plagues) τῶν (-) ἐσχάτων (last), καὶ (and) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Δεῦρο (Come here), δείξω (I will show) σοι (you) τὴν (the) νύμφην (bride), τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (wife) τοῦ (of the) ἀρνίου (Lamb).”

² καὶ (And) μετεμορφώθη (He was transfigured) ἔμπροσθεν (before) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) ἔλαμψεν (shone) τὸ (the) πρόσωπον (face) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (like) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun), τὰ (-) δὲ (and) ἱμάτια (the clothes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐγένετο (became) λευκὰ (white) ὡς (as) τὸ (the) φῶς (light).

¹² καὶ (and) λέγει (he says) αὐτῷ (to him), ‘Ἑταῖρε (Friend), πῶς (how) εἰσῆλθες (did you enter) ὧδε (here) μὴ (not) ἔχων (having) ἔνδυμα (garment) γάμου (of wedding)?’ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἐφιμώθη (he was speechless).

³ καὶ (and) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐγένετο (became) στίλβοντα (shining) λευκὰ (white) λίαν (exceedingly), οἷα (such as) γναφεὺς (a launderer) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) οὐ (not) δύναται (is able) οὕτως (thus) λευκᾶναι (to whiten).

⁴ καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ἐν (while) τῷ (-) ἀπορεῖσθαι (are perplexed) αὐτὰς (they) περὶ (about) τούτου (this), καὶ (that) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἄνδρες (men) δύο (two) ἐπέστησαν (stood by) αὐταῖς (them) ἐν (in) ἐσθῆτι (garments) ἀστραπτούσῃ (dazzling).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ὡς (as) ἀτενίζοντες (looking intently) ἦσαν (they were) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) οὐρανὸν (heaven) πορευομένου (as was going) αὐτοῦ (He), καὶ (then) ἰδοὺ (behold) ἄνδρες (men) δύο (two) παρειστήκεισαν (stood by) αὐτοῖς (them) ἐν (in) ἐσθήσεσι (apparel) λευκαῖς (white),

²² δικαιοσύνη (the righteousness) δὲ (now) Θεοῦ (of God) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) Ἰησοῦ (from Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) πιστεύοντας (believing). οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (there is) διαστολή (distinction).

¹⁴ ἀλλὰ (But) ἐνδύσασθε (put on) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστόν (Christ), καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) πρόνοιαν (provision) μὴ (not) ποιεῖσθε (make) εἰς (for) ἐπιθυμίας (desires).

²⁶ ἵνα (so that) αὐτὴν (her) ἁγιάσῃ (He might sanctify), καθαρίσας (having cleansed her) τῷ (by the) λουτρῷ (washing) τοῦ (-) ὕδατος (of water) ἐν (by) ῥήματι (the word), ²⁷ ἵνα (so that) παραστήσῃ (might present) αὐτὸς (He) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself) ἔνδοξον (in glory) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church), μὴ (not) ἔχουσαν (having) σπίλον (spot) ἢ (or) ῥυτίδα (wrinkle) ἤ (or) τι (any) τῶν (of the) τοιούτων (such things), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) ᾖ (it would be) ἁγία (holy) καὶ (and) ἄμωμος (blameless).

⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἔχεις (you have) ὀλίγα (a few) ὀνόματα (people) ἐν (in) Σάρδεσιν (Sardis) ἃ (who) οὐκ (not) ἐμόλυναν (have soiled) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) περιπατήσουσιν (they will walk) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (in) λευκοῖς (white), ὅτι (because) ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are). ⁵ Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), οὕτως (thus) περιβαλεῖται (will be clothed) ἐν (in) ἱματίοις (garments) λευκοῖς (white). καὶ (And) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐξαλείψω (will I blot out) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) βίβλου (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) ὁμολογήσω (I will confess) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁸ συμβουλεύω (I counsel) σοι (you) ἀγοράσαι (to buy) παρ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me) χρυσίον (gold) πεπυρωμένον (having been refined) ἐκ (by) πυρὸς (fire) ἵνα (so that) πλουτήσῃς (you may be rich), καὶ (and) ἱμάτια (garments) λευκὰ (white) ἵνα (so that) περιβάλῃ (you may be clothed) καὶ (and) μὴ (not) φανερωθῇ (might be made manifest) ἡ (the) αἰσχύνη (shame) τῆς (of the) γυμνότητός (nakedness) σου (of you), καὶ (and) κολλούριον (eye-salve) ἐγχρῖσαι (to anoint) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμούς (eyes) σου (of you) ἵνα (so that) βλέπῃς (you may see).

¹³ Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), λέγων (saying) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) περιβεβλημένοι (having been clothed with) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) τὰς (-) λευκὰς (white), τίνες (who) εἰσὶν (are they), καὶ (and) πόθεν (from where) ἦλθον (have they come)?” ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

⁴ τίς (Who) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) φοβηθῇ (should fear You), Κύριε (O Lord), καὶ (and) δοξάσει (will glorify) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You)? ὅτι (For You) μόνος (alone are) ὅσιος (holy). ὅτι (For) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἥξουσιν (will come) καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) ἐνώπιόν (before) σου (You), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) δικαιώματά (righteous acts) σου (of You) ἐφανερώθησαν (have been revealed).”

² “Ὡμοιώθη (Has become like) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens) ἀνθρώπῳ (to a man), βασιλεῖ (a king), ὅστις (who) ἐποίησεν (made) γάμους (a wedding feast) τῷ (for the) υἱῷ (son) αὐτοῦ (of him). ³ καὶ (And) ἀπέστειλεν (he sent) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants) αὐτοῦ (of him) καλέσαι (to call) τοὺς (those) κεκλημένους (having been invited) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) γάμους (wedding feast), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἤθελον (they were willing) ἐλθεῖν (to come). ⁴ Πάλιν (Again) ἀπέστειλεν (he sent) ἄλλους (other) δούλους (servants), λέγων (saying), ‘Εἴπατε (Say) τοῖς (to those) κεκλημένοις (having been invited), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), τὸ (the) ἄριστόν (dinner) μου (of me) ἡτοίμακα (I have prepared), οἱ (the) ταῦροί (oxen) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) σιτιστὰ (fatlings) τεθυμένα (have been killed), καὶ (and) πάντα (all things are) ἕτοιμα (ready); δεῦτε (come) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) γάμους (wedding feast).”’

¹⁵ Ἀκούσας (Having heard) δέ (then) τις (one) τῶν (of those) συνανακειμένων (reclining with Him) ταῦτα (these things), εἶπεν (he said) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Μακάριος (Blessed is he) ὅστις (who) φάγεται (will eat) ἄρτον (bread) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).” ¹⁶ Ὁ (-) δὲ (But) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἄνθρωπός (A man) τις (certain) ἐποίει (was preparing) δεῖπνον (a supper) μέγα (great), καὶ (and) ἐκάλεσεν (invited) πολλούς (many).

¹⁵ Πιστὸς (Trustworthy is) ὁ (the) λόγος (saying) καὶ (and) πάσης (of full) ἀποδοχῆς (acceptance) ἄξιος (worthy), ὅτι (that) Χριστὸς (Christ) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἦλθεν (came) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ἁμαρτωλοὺς (sinners) σῶσαι (to save), ὧν (of whom) πρῶτός (the foremost) εἰμι (am) ἐγώ (I).

⁸ Πιστὸς (Trustworthy is) ὁ (the) λόγος (saying), καὶ (and) περὶ (concerning) τούτων (these things) βούλομαί (I want) σε (you) διαβεβαιοῦσθαι (to affirm strongly), ἵνα (so that) φροντίζωσιν (may take care) καλῶν (good) ἔργων (works) προΐστασθαι (to be devoted to), οἱ (those) πεπιστευκότες (believing) Θεῷ (God). ταῦτά (These things) ἐστιν (are) καλὰ (excellent) καὶ (and) ὠφέλιμα (profitable) τοῖς (-) ἀνθρώποις (to men).

¹ Τῷ (To the) ἀγγέλῳ (messenger) τῆς (of the) ἐν (in) Ἐφέσῳ (Ephesus) ἐκκλησίας (church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the One) κρατῶν (holding) τοὺς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀστέρας (stars) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δεξιᾷ (right hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὁ (-) περιπατῶν (walking) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) λυχνιῶν (lampstands) τῶν (-) χρυσῶν (golden).

⁸ Καὶ (And) τῷ (to the) ἀγγέλῳ (messenger) τῆς (of) ἐν (in) Σμύρνῃ (Smyrna) ἐκκλησίας (the church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the) πρῶτος (First) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἔσχατος (Last), ὃς (who) ἐγένετο (became) νεκρὸς (dead) καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (came to life).

²⁰ Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἕστηκα (I stand) ἐπὶ (at) τὴν (the) θύραν (door) καὶ (and) κρούω (knock). ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἀκούσῃ (should hear) τῆς (the) φωνῆς (voice) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) ἀνοίξῃ (open) τὴν (the) θύραν (door), ‹καὶ› (then) εἰσελεύσομαι (I will come in) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him), καὶ (and) δειπνήσω (will dine) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (he) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me).

⁴ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἐλάλησαν (had spoken) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) βρονταί (thunders), ἤμελλον (I was about) γράφειν (to write). καὶ (But) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (a voice) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λέγουσαν (saying), “Σφράγισον (Seal) ἃ (what) ἐλάλησαν (have spoken) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) βρονταί (thunders), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αὐτὰ (them) γράψῃς (write).”

¹³ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνῆς (a voice) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λεγούσης (saying) “Γράψον (Write), ‘Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (the) νεκροὶ (dead) οἱ (-) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord) ἀποθνῄσκοντες (dying) ἀπ’ (from) ἄρτι (now on).’” “Ναί (Yes),” λέγει (says) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit), “Ἵνα (so that) ἀναπαήσονται (they will rest) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) κόπων (labors) αὐτῶν (of them); τὰ (-) γὰρ (for) ἔργα (the works) αὐτῶν (of them) ἀκολουθεῖ (follow) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them).”

⁷ χαίρωμεν (We should rejoice) καὶ (and) ἀγαλλιῶμεν (should exult), καὶ (and) δώσομεν (will give) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῷ (to Him), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ὁ (the) γάμος (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (bride) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἡτοίμασεν (has made ready) ἑαυτήν (herself). ⁸ καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (it was given) αὐτῇ (to her) ἵνα (that) περιβάληται (she should be clothed in) βύσσινον (fine linen), λαμπρὸν (bright), καθαρόν (pure).” Τὸ (-) γὰρ (For) βύσσινον (the fine linen), τὰ (the) δικαιώματα (righteousness acts) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) ἐστίν (is).

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσα (I fell) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτοῦ (of him) προσκυνῆσαι (to worship) αὐτῷ (him). καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (A fellow servant) σού (with you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you), τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)! ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) μαρτυρία (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit) τῆς (-) προφητείας (of prophecy).” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war).

⁵ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), καινὰ (new) ποιῶ (I make) πάντα (all things).” καὶ (And) λέγει (He says), “Γράψον (Write this), ὅτι (because) οὗτοι (these) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) πιστοὶ (faithful) καὶ (and) ἀληθινοί (true) εἰσιν (are).”

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) λόγοι (words) πιστοὶ (are faithful) καὶ (and) ἀληθινοί (true). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τῶν (of the) πνευμάτων (spirits) τῶν (of the) προφητῶν (prophets), ἀπέστειλεν (sent) τὸν (the) ἄγγελον (angel) αὐτοῦ (of Him), δεῖξαι (to show) τοῖς (the) δούλοις (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἃ (the things that) δεῖ (must) γενέσθαι (come to pass) ἐν (in) τάχει (quickness).”

¹⁰ Τότε (Then) λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ὕπαγε (Get you away), Σατανᾶ (Satan); γέγραπται (it has been written) γάρ (for): ‘Κύριον (The Lord) τὸν (the) θεόν (God) σου (of you), προσκυνήσεις (you shall worship), καὶ (and) αὐτῷ (Him) μόνῳ (alone) λατρεύσεις (shall you serve).’”

²² καὶ (And) ἔρχεται (comes) εἷς (one) τῶν (of the) ἀρχισυναγώγων (synagogue rulers), ὀνόματι (named) Ἰάϊρος (Jairus), καὶ (and) ἰδὼν (having seen) αὐτὸν (Him), πίπτει (falls) πρὸς (at) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him)

²⁵ ἀλλ’ (But) εὐθὺς (immediately) ἀκούσασα (having heard) γυνὴ (a woman) περὶ (about) αὐτοῦ (Him), ἧς (of whom) εἶχεν (had) τὸ (the) θυγάτριον (little daughter) αὐτῆς (of her) πνεῦμα (spirit) ἀκάθαρτον (unclean), ἐλθοῦσα (having come), προσέπεσεν (fell) πρὸς (at) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) Γαβριὴλ (Gabriel), ὁ (the one) παρεστηκὼς (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and) ἀπεστάλην (I was sent) λαλῆσαι (to speak) πρὸς (to) σὲ (you), καὶ (and) εὐαγγελίσασθαί (to bring glad tidings) σοι (to you) ταῦτα (these).

²⁵ Καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Ὦ (O) ἀνόητοι (foolish) καὶ (and) βραδεῖς (slow) τῇ (-) καρδίᾳ (of heart) τοῦ (-) πιστεύειν (to believe) ἐπὶ (in) πᾶσιν (all) οἷς (that) ἐλάλησαν (have spoken) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets). ²⁶ οὐχὶ (Not) ταῦτα (these things) ἔδει (was it necessary for) παθεῖν (to suffer) τὸν (the) Χριστὸν (Christ) καὶ (and) εἰσελθεῖν (to enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him)?” ²⁷ καὶ (And) ἀρξάμενος (having begun) ἀπὸ (from) Μωϋσέως (Moses) καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) πάντων (all) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (Prophets), διερμήνευσεν (He interpreted) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἐν (in) πάσαις (all) ταῖς (the) γραφαῖς (Scriptures) τὰ (the things) περὶ (concerning) ἑαυτοῦ (Himself).

⁴⁴ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (now) πρὸς (unto) αὐτούς (to them), “Οὗτοι (These are) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) μου (of me), οὓς (which) ἐλάλησα (I spoke) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἔτι (still) ὢν (being) σὺν (with) ὑμῖν (you), ὅτι (that) δεῖ (it behooves) πληρωθῆναι (to be fulfilled) πάντα (all things) τὰ (-) γεγραμμένα (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νόμῳ (law) Μωϋσέως (of Moses), καὶ (and) τοῖς (the) προφήταις (Prophets) καὶ (and) ψαλμοῖς (the Psalms) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me).”

²² ὑμεῖς (You) προσκυνεῖτε (worship) ὃ (what) οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (you know); ἡμεῖς (we) προσκυνοῦμεν (worship) ὃ (what) οἴδαμεν (we know), ὅτι (for) ἡ (-) σωτηρία (salvation) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) Ἰουδαίων (Jews) ἐστίν (is). ²³ ἀλλὰ (But) ἔρχεται (is coming) ὥρα (an hour) καὶ (and) νῦν (now) ἐστιν (is), ὅτε (when) οἱ (the) ἀληθινοὶ (true) προσκυνηταὶ (worshipers) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) τῷ (the) Πατρὶ (Father) ἐν (in) πνεύματι (spirit) καὶ (and) ἀληθείᾳ (truth); καὶ (also) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) τοιούτους (such) ζητεῖ (seeks), τοὺς (who) προσκυνοῦντας (worship) αὐτόν (Him). ²⁴ Πνεῦμα (Spirit) ὁ (-) Θεός (God is), καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) ‹αὐτὸν› (Him) ἐν (in) πνεύματι (spirit) καὶ (and) ἀληθείᾳ (truth) δεῖ (it behooves) προσκυνεῖν (to worship).”

³⁹ Ἐραυνᾶτε (You diligently search) τὰς (the) γραφάς (Scriptures), ὅτι (for) ὑμεῖς (you) δοκεῖτε (think) ἐν (in) αὐταῖς (them) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal) ἔχειν (to have); καὶ (and) ἐκεῖναί (these) εἰσιν (are they) αἱ (-) μαρτυροῦσαι (bearing witness) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me);

¹² ἰδὼν (Having seen it) δὲ (however), ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) ἀπεκρίνατο (answered) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) λαόν (people): “Ἄνδρες (Men), Ἰσραηλῖται (Israelites), τί (why) θαυμάζετε (wonder you) ἐπὶ (at) τούτῳ (this)? ἢ (Or) ἡμῖν (on us) τί (why) ἀτενίζετε (you look intently), ὡς (as if) ἰδίᾳ (by our own) δυνάμει (power) ἢ (or) εὐσεβείᾳ (godliness) πεποιηκόσιν (we have made) τοῦ (-) περιπατεῖν (to walk) αὐτόν (him)? ¹³ Ὁ (The) Θεὸς (God) Ἀβραὰμ (of Abraham), καὶ (and) [ὁ (the) θεὸς] (God) Ἰσαὰκ (of Isaac), καὶ (and) [ὁ (the) θεὸς] (God) Ἰακώβ (Jacob), ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τῶν (of the) πατέρων (fathers) ἡμῶν (of us), ἐδόξασεν (has glorified) τὸν (the) Παῖδα (servant) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), ὃν (whom) ὑμεῖς (you) μὲν (indeed) παρεδώκατε (betrayed) καὶ (and) ἠρνήσασθε (disowned) κατὰ (in) πρόσωπον (the presence) Πιλάτου (of Pilate), κρίναντος (having adjudged) ἐκείνου (that one) ἀπολύειν (to release Him). ¹⁴ ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) τὸν (the) Ἅγιον (Holy) καὶ (and) Δίκαιον (Righteous One) ἠρνήσασθε (denied), καὶ (and) ᾐτήσασθε (requested) ἄνδρα (a man), φονέα (a murderer), χαρισθῆναι (to be granted) ὑμῖν (to you); ¹⁵ τὸν (-) δὲ (and) Ἀρχηγὸν (the Author) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) ἀπεκτείνατε (you killed), ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἤγειρεν (has raised up) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), οὗ (whereof) ἡμεῖς (we) μάρτυρές (witnesses) ἐσμεν (are). ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ἐπὶ (on) τῇ (the) πίστει (faith) τοῦ (in the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τοῦτον (this man) ὃν (whom) θεωρεῖτε (you see) καὶ (and) οἴδατε (know) ἐστερέωσεν (has strengthened) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) ἡ (which is) δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἔδωκεν (has given) αὐτῷ (to him) τὴν (the) ὁλοκληρίαν (complete soundness) ταύτην (this) ἀπέναντι (before) πάντων (all) ὑμῶν (of you). ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) νῦν (now), ἀδελφοί (brothers), οἶδα (I know) ὅτι (that) κατὰ (in) ἄγνοιαν (ignorance) ἐπράξατε (you acted), ὥσπερ (as) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) ἄρχοντες (rulers) ὑμῶν (of you). ¹⁸ ὁ (-) δὲ (But) Θεὸς (God) ἃ (what) προκατήγγειλεν (He foretold) διὰ (by) στόματος (the mouth) πάντων (of all) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (prophets), παθεῖν (that should suffer) τὸν (the) Χριστὸν (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἐπλήρωσεν (He has fulfilled) οὕτως (thus).

²⁵ Ὡς (As) δὲ (then) ἐγένετο (was) τοῦ (-) εἰσελθεῖν (entering) τὸν (-) Πέτρον (Peter), συναντήσας (having met) αὐτῷ (him) ὁ (-) Κορνήλιος (Cornelius), πεσὼν (having fallen) ἐπὶ (at) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet), προσεκύνησεν (worshiped him). ²⁶ ὁ (-) δὲ (But) Πέτρος (Peter) ἤγειρεν (lifted up) αὐτὸν (him), λέγων (saying), “Ἀνάστηθι (Rise up), καὶ (also) ἐγὼ (I) αὐτὸς (myself) ἄνθρωπός (a man) εἰμι (am).”

⁴³ τούτῳ (To Him) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets) μαρτυροῦσιν (bear witness) ἄφεσιν (that forgiveness) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins) λαβεῖν (receives) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) πάντα (everyone) τὸν (-) πιστεύοντα (believing) εἰς (in) αὐτόν (Him).”

²⁷ οἱ (Those) γὰρ (for) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐν (in) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἄρχοντες (rulers) αὐτῶν (of them), τοῦτον (Him) ἀγνοήσαντες (not having known), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) φωνὰς (voices) τῶν (of the) προφητῶν (prophets) τὰς (that) κατὰ (on) πᾶν (every) σάββατον (Sabbath) ἀναγινωσκομένας (are being read), κρίναντες (having condemned Him) ἐπλήρωσαν (they fulfilled them).

¹¹ Οἵ (-) τε (And) ὄχλοι (the crowds) ἰδόντες (having seen) ὃ (what) ἐποίησεν (had done) Παῦλος (Paul), ἐπῆραν (lifted up) τὴν (the) φωνὴν (voice) αὐτῶν (of them) Λυκαονιστὶ (in Lycaonian), λέγοντες (saying), “Οἱ (The) θεοὶ (gods), ὁμοιωθέντες (having become like) ἀνθρώποις (men), κατέβησαν (have come down) πρὸς (to) ἡμᾶς (us).” ¹² ἐκάλουν (They began calling) τε (then) τὸν (-) Βαρνάβαν (Barnabas) Δία (Zeus), τὸν (-) δὲ (and) Παῦλον (Paul) Ἑρμῆν (Hermes), ἐπειδὴ (because) αὐτὸς (he) ἦν (was) ὁ (the) ἡγούμενος (leading) τοῦ (-) λόγου (speaker). ¹³ ὅ (-) τε (And) ἱερεὺς (the priest) τοῦ (-) Διὸς (of Zeus), τοῦ (-) ὄντος (being) πρὸ (just outside) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city), ταύρους (oxen) καὶ (and) στέμματα (wreaths) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) πυλῶνας (gates) ἐνέγκας (having brought), σὺν (with) τοῖς (the) ὄχλοις (crowds) ἤθελεν (was desiring) θύειν (to sacrifice). ¹⁴ Ἀκούσαντες (Having heard) δὲ (however), οἱ (the) ἀπόστολοι (apostles) Βαρνάβας (Barnabas) καὶ (and) Παῦλος (Paul), διαρρήξαντες (having torn) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτῶν* (of them), ἐξεπήδησαν (rushed out) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) ὄχλον (crowd), κράζοντες (crying out) ¹⁵ καὶ (and) λέγοντες (saying), “Ἄνδρες (Men), τί (why) ταῦτα (these things) ποιεῖτε (do you)? καὶ (Also) ἡμεῖς (we) ὁμοιοπαθεῖς (of like nature) ἐσμεν (are) ὑμῖν (with you) ἄνθρωποι (men), εὐαγγελιζόμενοι (proclaiming the gospel) ὑμᾶς (to you), ἀπὸ (from) τούτων (these) τῶν (-) ματαίων (vanities) ἐπιστρέφειν (to turn) ἐπὶ (to) θεὸν (God) ζῶντα (the living), ὃς (who) ἐποίησεν (made) τὸν (the) οὐρανὸν (heaven) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea) καὶ (and) πάντα (all) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them),

²¹ Νυνὶ (Now) δὲ (however), χωρὶς (apart from) νόμου (law), δικαιοσύνη (the righteousness) Θεοῦ (of God) πεφανέρωται (has been revealed), μαρτυρουμένη (being borne witness to) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) νόμου (Law) καὶ (and) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (Prophets), ²² δικαιοσύνη (the righteousness) δὲ (now) Θεοῦ (of God) διὰ (through) πίστεως (faith) Ἰησοῦ (from Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) πιστεύοντας (believing). οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (there is) διαστολή (distinction).

⁷ ἀλλ’ (But) ὥσπερ (even as) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every way) περισσεύετε (you abound), πίστει (in faith), καὶ (and) λόγῳ (speech), καὶ (and) γνώσει (knowledge), καὶ (and) πάσῃ (all) σπουδῇ (earnestness), καὶ (and) τῇ (in the) ἐξ (from) ἡμῶν (us) ἐν (to) ὑμῖν (you) ἀγάπῃ (love), ἵνα (that) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) ταύτῃ (this) τῇ (-) χάριτι (grace) περισσεύητε (you should abound).

¹⁵ Βλέπετε (Take heed) οὖν (therefore) ἀκριβῶς (carefully) πῶς (how) περιπατεῖτε (you walk), μὴ (not) ὡς (as) ἄσοφοι (unwise), ἀλλ’ (but) ὡς (as) σοφοί (wise),

³³ πλὴν (However) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) οἱ (-) καθ’ (according to) ἕνα (individual), ἕκαστος (each) τὴν (the) ἑαυτοῦ (of himself) γυναῖκα (wife), οὕτως (so) ἀγαπάτω (let love) ὡς (as) ἑαυτόν (himself); ἡ (-) δὲ (and) γυνὴ (the wife) ἵνα (that) φοβῆται (she may respect) τὸν (the) ἄνδρα (husband).

¹⁵ Ὁρᾶτε (See that) μή (no) τις (one) κακὸν (evil) ἀντὶ (for) κακοῦ (evil) τινι (to anyone) ἀποδῷ (has repaid), ἀλλὰ (but) πάντοτε (always) τὸ (the) ἀγαθὸν (good) διώκετε (pursue) [καὶ] (also) εἰς (toward) ἀλλήλους (one another) καὶ (and) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all).

¹⁴ Οὐχὶ (Not) πάντες (all) εἰσὶν (are they) λειτουργικὰ (ministering) πνεύματα (spirits), εἰς (for) διακονίαν (service) ἀποστελλόμενα (being sent forth), διὰ (for the sake of) τοὺς (those) μέλλοντας (being about) κληρονομεῖν (to inherit) σωτηρίαν (salvation)?

²⁵ Βλέπετε (Take heed) μὴ (lest) παραιτήσησθε (you refuse) τὸν (the One) λαλοῦντα (speaking). εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) ἐκεῖνοι (they) οὐκ (not) ἐξέφυγον (escaped), ἐπὶ (on) γῆς (earth) παραιτησάμενοι (having refused) τὸν (the One) χρηματίζοντα (divinely instructing them), πολὺ (much) μᾶλλον (less) ἡμεῖς (we) οἱ (-) τὸν (the One) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανῶν (the heavens) ἀποστρεφόμενοι (turning away from),

¹⁰ Περὶ (Concerning) ἧς (this) σωτηρίας (salvation), ἐξεζήτησαν (sought out) καὶ (and) ἐξηραύνησαν (searched out diligently) προφῆται (the prophets), οἱ (-) περὶ (of) τῆς (the) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you) χάριτος (grace) προφητεύσαντες (having prophesied), ¹¹ ἐραυνῶντες (inquiring) εἰς (into) τίνα (what) ἢ (or) ποῖον (what manner of) καιρὸν (time) ἐδήλου (was signifying) τὸ (the) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), προμαρτυρόμενον (testifying beforehand) τὰ (-) εἰς (unto) Χριστὸν (Christ's) παθήματα (sufferings) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these) δόξας (glories), ¹² οἷς (to whom) ἀπεκαλύφθη (it was revealed) ὅτι (that) οὐχ (not) ἑαυτοῖς (themselves), ὑμῖν (you) δὲ (however), διηκόνουν (they were serving) αὐτά (in those things) ἃ (which) νῦν (now) ἀνηγγέλη (have been proclaimed) ὑμῖν (to you) διὰ (by) τῶν (those) εὐαγγελισαμένων (having proclaimed the gospel to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (by) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) ἀποσταλέντι (having been sent) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), εἰς (into) ἃ (which) ἐπιθυμοῦσιν (desire) ἄγγελοι (angels) παρακύψαι (to look).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἔχομεν (we have) βεβαιότερον (more certain) τὸν (the) προφητικὸν (prophetic) λόγον (word), ᾧ (to which) καλῶς (well) ποιεῖτε (you do) προσέχοντες (taking heed), ὡς (as) λύχνῳ (to a lamp) φαίνοντι (shining) ἐν (in) αὐχμηρῷ (a dark) τόπῳ (place), ἕως (until) οὗ (this) ἡμέρα (day) διαυγάσῃ (shall have dawned) καὶ (and) φωσφόρος (the morning star) ἀνατείλῃ (shall have arisen) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ὑμῶν (of you), ²⁰ τοῦτο (this) πρῶτον (first) γινώσκοντες (knowing), ὅτι (that) πᾶσα (any) προφητεία (prophecy) γραφῆς (of Scripture) ἰδίας (of its own) ἐπιλύσεως (interpretation) οὐ (not) γίνεται (is). ²¹ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) θελήματι (by the will) ἀνθρώπου (of man) ἠνέχθη (was brought) προφητεία (prophecy) ποτέ (at any time), ἀλλὰ (but) ὑπὸ (by) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) φερόμενοι (being carried), ἐλάλησαν (spoke) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) ἄνθρωποι (men).

¹⁰ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἔχει (has) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) ἐν (in) αὑτῷ (himself). ὁ (The one) μὴ (not) πιστεύων (believing) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ψεύστην (a liar) πεποίηκεν (has made) αὐτόν (Him), ὅτι (because) οὐ (not) πεπίστευκεν (he has believed) εἰς (in) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) ἣν (that) μεμαρτύρηκεν (has testified) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (Him).

²¹ Τεκνία (Little children), φυλάξατε (keep) ἑαυτὰ (yourselves) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (-) εἰδώλων (idols).

⁹ Ἐγὼ (I) Ἰωάννης (John), ὁ (the) ἀδελφὸς (brother) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and) συνκοινωνὸς (fellow-partaker) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) θλίψει (tribulation) καὶ (and) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) καὶ (and) ὑπομονῇ (endurance) ἐν (in) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ἐγενόμην (was) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) νήσῳ (island) τῇ (-) καλουμένῃ (called) Πάτμῳ (Patmos), διὰ (on account of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus).

¹⁰ πεσοῦνται (will fall) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), καὶ (and) βαλοῦσιν (they will cast) τοὺς (the) στεφάνους (crowns) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγοντες (saying):

¹¹ καὶ (And) αὐτοὶ (they) ἐνίκησαν (have overcome) αὐτὸν (him) διὰ (by reason) τὸ (of the) αἷμα (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), καὶ (and) διὰ (by reason of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (of the) μαρτυρίας (testimony) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠγάπησαν (they have loved) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτῶν (of them) ἄχρι (unto) θανάτου (death).

¹⁷ καὶ (And) ὠργίσθη (was angry) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) ἐπὶ (with) τῇ (the) γυναικί (woman), καὶ (and) ἀπῆλθεν (went) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) λοιπῶν (rest) τοῦ (of the) σπέρματος (children) αὐτῆς (of her) τῶν (-) τηρούντων (keeping) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐστάθη (he stood) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) ἄμμον (sand) τῆς (of the) θαλάσσης (sea).

⁷ λέγων (saying) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), “Φοβήθητε (Fear) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), καὶ (and) δότε (give) αὐτῷ (Him) δόξαν (glory), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) τῆς (of the) κρίσεως (judgment) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) προσκυνήσατε (worship) τῷ (the One) ποιήσαντι (having made) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) θάλασσαν (sea), καὶ (and) πηγὰς (springs) ὑδάτων (of waters).”

⁸ Κἀγὼ (And I), Ἰωάννης (John), ὁ (am the one) ἀκούων (hearing) καὶ (and) βλέπων (seeing) ταῦτα (these things). καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἤκουσα (I heard) καὶ (and) ἔβλεψα (saw), ἔπεσα (I fell down) προσκυνῆσαι (to worship) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) τοῦ (of the) ἀγγέλου (angel) τοῦ (-) δεικνύοντός (showing) μοι (me) ταῦτα (these things). ⁹ καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (Fellow servant) σού (of you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (with the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (prophets), καὶ (and) τῶν (with those) τηρούντων (keeping) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)!”

⁶ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἀλήθεια (truth), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ζωή (life). οὐδεὶς (No one) ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) δι’ (by) ἐμοῦ (Me).

¹ Οὗτος (This) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) Μελχισέδεκ (Melchizedek), βασιλεὺς (King) Σαλήμ (of Salem), ἱερεὺς (priest) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (-) Ὑψίστου (Most High), ὁ (-) συναντήσας (having met) Ἀβραὰμ (Abraham) ὑποστρέφοντι (returning) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) κοπῆς (slaughter) τῶν (of the) βασιλέων (kings) καὶ (and) εὐλογήσας (having blessed) αὐτόν (him), ² ᾧ (is he to whom) καὶ (also) δεκάτην (a tenth) ἀπὸ (of) πάντων (all) ἐμέρισεν (apportioned) Ἀβραάμ (Abraham), πρῶτον (first) μὲν (indeed) ἑρμηνευόμενος (being translated), “Βασιλεὺς (king) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness);” ἔπειτα (then) δὲ (and) καὶ (also), “Βασιλεὺς (king) Σαλήμ (of Salem),” ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is), “Βασιλεὺς (king) εἰρήνης (of peace).”

⁵ καὶ (and) ἀπὸ (from) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὁ (the) μάρτυς (witness) ὁ (-) πιστός (faithful), ὁ (the) πρωτότοκος (firstborn) τῶν (of the) νεκρῶν (dead) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἄρχων (ruler) τῶν (of the) βασιλέων (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth). Τῷ (To the One) ἀγαπῶντι (loving) ἡμᾶς (us) καὶ (and) λύσαντι (releasing) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐν (through) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him) —

¹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), θύρα (a door) ἠνεῳγμένη (was standing open) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) φωνὴ (voice) ἡ (-) πρώτη (first) ἣν (that) ἤκουσα (I heard) ὡς (like) σάλπιγγος (a trumpet) λαλούσης (was speaking) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Ἀνάβα (Come up) ὧδε (here), καὶ (and) δείξω (I will show) σοι (to you) ἃ (what) δεῖ (it behooves) γενέσθαι (to take place) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things).”

² Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτὸν (it) ἔχων (having) τόξον (a bow); καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to him) στέφανος (a crown), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (he went forth) νικῶν (overcoming), καὶ (and) ἵνα (that) νικήσῃ (he might conquer).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὁ (-) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ὤφθη (was seen) ἡ (the) κιβωτὸς (ark) τῆς (of the) διαθήκης (covenant) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταὶ (thunders), καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake), καὶ (and) χάλαζα (hail) μεγάλη (great).

³ καὶ (And) ᾄδουσιν (they are singing) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) Μωϋσέως (of Moses), τοῦ (the) δούλου (servant) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) ᾠδὴν (song) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), λέγοντες (saying): “Μεγάλα (Great) καὶ (and) θαυμαστὰ (wonderful are) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) σου (of You), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty)! δίκαιαι (Righteous) καὶ (and) ἀληθιναὶ (true are) αἱ (the) ὁδοί (ways) σου (of You), ὁ (O) Βασιλεὺς (King) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations)! ⁴ τίς (Who) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) φοβηθῇ (should fear You), Κύριε (O Lord), καὶ (and) δοξάσει (will glorify) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You)? ὅτι (For You) μόνος (alone are) ὅσιος (holy). ὅτι (For) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἥξουσιν (will come) καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) ἐνώπιόν (before) σου (You), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) δικαιώματά (righteous acts) σου (of You) ἐφανερώθησαν (have been revealed).” ⁵ Καὶ (And) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἠνοίγη (was opened) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) τῆς (of the) σκηνῆς (tabernacle) τοῦ (of the) μαρτυρίου (testimony) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἐξῆλθον (came forth) οἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἄγγελοι (angels) οἱ (-) ἔχοντες (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) πληγὰς (plagues) ἐκ (out) τοῦ (of the) ναοῦ (temple), ἐνδεδυμένοι (having been clothed in) λίνον (linen) καθαρὸν (pure) λαμπρὸν (bright), καὶ (and) περιεζωσμένοι (having been girded with) περὶ (around) τὰ (the) στήθη (chests) ζώνας (sashes) χρυσᾶς (golden). ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἓν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures) ἔδωκεν (gave) τοῖς (to the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλοις (angels) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (full) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ζῶντος (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).

²⁷ Πάντα (All things) μοι (to Me) παρεδόθη (have been delivered) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me). καὶ (And) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐπιγινώσκει (knows) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father); οὐδὲ (nor) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) τις (anyone) ἐπιγινώσκει (does know), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son), καὶ (and) ᾧ (to whom) ἐὰν (if) βούληται (might choose) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) ἀποκαλύψαι (to reveal Him).

⁵ “Εἴπατε (Say) τῇ (to the) θυγατρὶ (daughter) Σιών (of Zion), ‘Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ὁ (the) Βασιλεύς (King) σου (of you) ἔρχεταί (comes) σοι (to you), πραῢς (gentle) καὶ (and) ἐπιβεβηκὼς (mounted) ἐπὶ (on) ὄνον (a donkey), καὶ (even) ἐπὶ (upon) πῶλον (a colt), υἱὸν (the foal) ὑποζυγίου (of a beast of burden).’”

¹⁸ Καὶ (And) προσελθὼν (having come to them), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) αὐτοῖς (to them), λέγων (saying), “Ἐδόθη (Has been given) μοι (to Me) πᾶσα (all) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐν (in) οὐρανῷ (heaven) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

²² Πάντα (All things) μοι (to Me) παρεδόθη (have been delivered) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me). καὶ (And) οὐδεὶς (no one) γινώσκει (knows) τίς (who) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father); καὶ (and) τίς (who) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son), καὶ (and) ᾧ (to whom) ἐὰν (if) βούληται (might resolve) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) ἀποκαλύψαι (to reveal Him).”

⁹ τὸν (Who) δὲ (however) βραχύ (a little) τι (one) παρ’ (than) ἀγγέλους (the angels), ἠλαττωμένον (having been made lower), βλέπομεν (we see), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), διὰ (because of) τὸ (the) πάθημα (suffering) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (of death), δόξῃ (with glory) καὶ (and) τιμῇ (with honor) ἐστεφανωμένον (having been crowned), ὅπως (so that) χάριτι (by the grace) Θεοῦ (of God) ὑπὲρ (for) παντὸς (everyone) γεύσηται (He might taste) θανάτου (death).

¹⁴ ἡ (-) δὲ (And) κεφαλὴ (the head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) αἱ (the) τρίχες (hairs) λευκαὶ (are white), ὡς (as if) ἔριον (wool), λευκόν (white) ὡς (as) χιών (snow); καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ὀφθαλμοὶ (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (are like) φλὸξ (a flame) πυρός (of fire);

¹⁷ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Τῷ (The one) νικῶντι (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) τοῦ (the) μάννα (manna) τοῦ (-) κεκρυμμένου (having been hidden); καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ψῆφον (stone) λευκήν (white), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) ψῆφον (stone) ὄνομα (a name) καινὸν (new) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (has known), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) λαμβάνων (receiving it). ¹⁸ Καὶ (And) τῷ (to) ἀγγέλῳ (the messenger) τῆς (of the) ἐν (in) Θυατείροις (Thyatira) ἐκκλησίας (church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (the One) ἔχων (having) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (like) φλόγα (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅμοιοι (like) χαλκολιβάνῳ (burnished bronze).

¹² Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), ποιήσω (I will make) αὐτὸν (him) στῦλον (a pillar) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) ἔξω (out) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐξέλθῃ (shall he go) ἔτι (anymore). καὶ (And) γράψω (I will write) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (him) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), τῆς (the) καινῆς (new) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem), ἡ (-) καταβαίνουσα (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) Θεοῦ (God) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) μου (of Me) τὸ (-) καινόν (new).

³ Καὶ (And) ὤφθη (was seen) ἄλλο (another) σημεῖον (sign) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), δράκων (a dragon) πυρρός (red) μέγας (great), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven), καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἑπτὰ (seven) διαδήματα (royal crowns).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) θηρίον (a beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising), ἔχον (having) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτά (seven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) κεράτων (horns) αὐτοῦ (of it), δέκα (ten) διαδήματα (royal crowns), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὀνόματα (names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy).

¹⁶ καὶ (And) ἔχει (He has) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) ἱμάτιον (robe) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) μηρὸν (thigh) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written): ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ (King) ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ (of Kings) ΚΑΙ (and) ΚΥΡΙΟΣ (Lord) ΚΥΡΙΩΝ (of Lords).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Λόγος (Word) σὰρξ (flesh) ἐγένετο (became) καὶ (and) ἐσκήνωσεν (dwelt) ἐν (among) ἡμῖν (us), καὶ (and) ἐθεασάμεθα (we beheld) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him), δόξαν (a glory) ὡς (as) μονογενοῦς (of an only begotten) παρὰ (from) Πατρός (the Father), πλήρης (full) χάριτος (of grace) καὶ (and) ἀληθείας (truth).

¹ Ὃ (That which) ἦν (was) ἀπ’ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning), ὃ (that which) ἀκηκόαμεν (we have heard), ὃ (that which) ἑωράκαμεν (we have seen) τοῖς (with the) ὀφθαλμοῖς (eyes) ἡμῶν (of us), ὃ (that which) ἐθεασάμεθα (we have gazed upon) καὶ (and) αἱ (the) χεῖρες (hands) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐψηλάφησαν (have handled), περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Λόγου (Word) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) —

⁷ ὅτι (For) τρεῖς (three) εἰσιν (there are) οἱ (-) μαρτυροῦντες (bearing testimony):

²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπατήθη (was trodden) ἡ (the) ληνὸς (winepress) ἔξωθεν (outside) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (flowed) αἷμα (blood) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ληνοῦ (winepress), ἄχρι (as high as) τῶν (the) χαλινῶν (bridles) τῶν (of the) ἵππων (horses), ἀπὸ (to the distance of) σταδίων (stadia) χιλίων (one thousand) ἑξακοσίων (six hundred).

⁵³ ἢ (Or) δοκεῖς (think you) ὅτι (that) οὐ (not) δύναμαι (I am able) παρακαλέσαι (to call upon) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) παραστήσει (He will furnish) μοι (to Me) ἄρτι (presently) πλείω (more than) δώδεκα (twelve) λεγιῶνας (legions) ἀγγέλων (of angels)?

³ ἦν (Was) δὲ (now) ἡ (the) εἰδέα (appearance) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὡς (like) ἀστραπὴ (lightning), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ἔνδυμα (clothing) αὐτοῦ (of him) λευκὸν (white) ὡς (as) χιών (snow).

⁷ καὶ (and) ὑμῖν (to you) τοῖς (-) θλιβομένοις (being oppressed), ἄνεσιν (repose) μεθ’ (with) ἡμῶν (us) ἐν (at) τῇ (the) ἀποκαλύψει (revelation) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), μετ’ (with) ἀγγέλων (the angels) δυνάμεως (mighty) αὐτοῦ (of Him)

¹⁴ Προεφήτευσεν* (Prophesied) δὲ (then) καὶ (also) τούτοις (as to these) ἕβδομος (the seventh) ἀπὸ (from) Ἀδὰμ (Adam), Ἑνὼχ (Enoch), λέγων (saying): “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἦλθεν (has come) Κύριος (the Lord) ἐν (amidst) ἁγίαις (holy ones) μυριάσιν (myriads) αὐτοῦ (of His),

⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἔχεις (you have) ὀλίγα (a few) ὀνόματα (people) ἐν (in) Σάρδεσιν (Sardis) ἃ (who) οὐκ (not) ἐμόλυναν (have soiled) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) περιπατήσουσιν (they will walk) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (in) λευκοῖς (white), ὅτι (because) ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are).

⁴ καὶ (And) κυκλόθεν (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), θρόνους (thrones) εἴκοσι (were twenty) τέσσαρες (four); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) θρόνους (thrones) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρας (four) πρεσβυτέρους (elders) καθημένους (sitting), περιβεβλημένους (having been clothed) ἐν (in) ἱματίοις (garments) λευκοῖς (white); καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτῶν (of them), στεφάνους (crowns) χρυσοῦς (golden).

⁹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ὄχλος (a multitude) πολύς (great), ὃν (which) ἀριθμῆσαι (to number) αὐτὸν (it) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able), ἐκ (out of) παντὸς (every) ἔθνους (nation), καὶ (and) φυλῶν (tribes), καὶ (and) λαῶν (peoples), καὶ (and) γλωσσῶν (tongues), ἑστῶτες (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), περιβεβλημένους (having been clothed with) στολὰς (robes) λευκάς (white), καὶ (and) φοίνικες (palm branches) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) χερσὶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) ἑστὸς (was standing) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (-) ὄρος (Mount) Σιών (Zion), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἑκατὸν (one hundred) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) τέσσαρες (four) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἔχουσαι (having) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him) γεγραμμένον (having been written) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹⁴ Οὗτοι (These) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) πολεμήσουσιν (war will make), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) Κύριος (Lord) κυρίων (of lords) ἐστὶν (He is), καὶ (and) Βασιλεὺς (King) βασιλέων (of kings); καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) κλητοὶ (are called) καὶ (and) ἐκλεκτοὶ (chosen) καὶ (and) πιστοί (faithful).”

⁸ καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (it was given) αὐτῇ (to her) ἵνα (that) περιβάληται (she should be clothed in) βύσσινον (fine linen), λαμπρὸν (bright), καθαρόν (pure).” Τὸ (-) γὰρ (For) βύσσινον (the fine linen), τὰ (the) δικαιώματα (righteousness acts) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) ἐστίν (is).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war).

⁸ καὶ (And) τότε (then) ἀποκαλυφθήσεται (will be revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνομος (lawless one), ὃν (whom) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἀνελεῖ (will slay) τῷ (with the) πνεύματι (breath) τοῦ (of the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) καταργήσει (will annul) τῇ (by the) ἐπιφανείᾳ (appearing) τῆς (of the) παρουσίας (coming) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

¹⁶ καὶ (and) ἔχων (He is holding) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δεξιᾷ (right) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἀστέρας (stars) ἑπτά (seven), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ῥομφαία (a sword) δίστομος (two-edged) ὀξεῖα (sharp) ἐκπορευομένη (is going forth); καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ὄψις (face) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (is like) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun) φαίνει (shining) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δυνάμει (full strength) αὐτοῦ (of it).

¹⁶ μετανόησον (Repent) οὖν (therefore)! εἰ (If) δὲ (however) μή (not), ἔρχομαί (I am coming) σοι (to you) ταχύ (quickly), καὶ (and) πολεμήσω (I will make war) μετ’ (against) αὐτῶν (them) ἐν (with) τῇ (the) ῥομφαίᾳ (sword) τοῦ (of the) στόματός (mouth) μου (of Me).

²⁷ καὶ (and) ποιμανεῖ (he will shepherd) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron), ὡς (as) τὰ (the) σκεύη (vessels of) τὰ (the) κεραμικὰ (potter) συντρίβεται (are broken in pieces), — ὡς (just as) κἀγὼ (I also) εἴληφα (have received) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me).

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἔτεκεν (she brought forth) υἱόν (a son) ἄρσεν (male), ὃς (who) μέλλει (is about) ποιμαίνειν (to rule) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron); καὶ (and) ἡρπάσθη (was caught up) τὸ (the) τέκνον (child) αὐτῆς (of her) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ἄλλος (another) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐξῆλθεν (came) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple) τοῦ (-) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), ἔχων (having) καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (he) δρέπανον (a sickle) ὀξύ (sharp). ¹⁸ Καὶ (And) ἄλλος (another) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐξῆλθεν (came) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar), ὁ (-) ἔχων (having) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τοῦ (the) πυρός (fire), καὶ (and) ἐφώνησεν (he called) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud) τῷ (to the one) ἔχοντι (having) τὸ (the) δρέπανον (sickle) τὸ (-) ὀξὺ (sharp), λέγων (saying), “Πέμψον (Put forth) σου (your) τὸ (-) δρέπανον (sickle) τὸ (-) ὀξὺ (sharp), καὶ (and) τρύγησον (gather) τοὺς (the) βότρυας (clusters) τῆς (from the) ἀμπέλου (vine) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), ὅτι (because) ἤκμασαν (have fully ripened) αἱ (the) σταφυλαὶ (grapes) αὐτῆς (of it).” ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) ἔβαλεν (put forth) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) τὸ (the) δρέπανον (sickle) αὐτοῦ (of him) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) ἐτρύγησεν (gathered) τὴν (the) ἄμπελον (vine) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἔβαλεν (cast them) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ληνὸν (winepress) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τὸν (-) μέγαν (great). ²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπατήθη (was trodden) ἡ (the) ληνὸς (winepress) ἔξωθεν (outside) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (flowed) αἷμα (blood) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ληνοῦ (winepress), ἄχρι (as high as) τῶν (the) χαλινῶν (bridles) τῶν (of the) ἵππων (horses), ἀπὸ (to the distance of) σταδίων (stadia) χιλίων (one thousand) ἑξακοσίων (six hundred).

²¹ καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (with) τῇ (the) ῥομφαίᾳ (sword) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) τῇ (-) ἐξελθούσῃ (having gone forth) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of him). Καὶ (And) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ὄρνεα (birds) ἐχορτάσθησαν (were filled) ἐκ (with) τῶν (the) σαρκῶν (flesh) αὐτῶν (of them).

⁹ Διὸ (Therefore) καὶ (also) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) αὐτὸν (Him) ὑπερύψωσεν (highly exalted), καὶ (and) ἐχαρίσατο (granted) αὐτῷ (to Him) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τὸ (-) ὑπὲρ (above) πᾶν (every) ὄνομα (name), ¹⁰ ἵνα (that) ἐν (at) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) πᾶν (every) γόνυ (knee) κάμψῃ (should bow), ἐπουρανίων (in the heavens) καὶ (and) ἐπιγείων (on earth) καὶ (and) καταχθονίων (under the earth), ¹¹ καὶ (and) πᾶσα (every) γλῶσσα (tongue) ἐξομολογήσηται (should confess) ὅτι (that) ΚΥΡΙΟΣ (is Lord) ΙΗΣΟΥΣ (Jesus) ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ (Christ), εἰς (to) δόξαν (the glory) Θεοῦ (of God) Πατρός (the Father).

¹⁵ ἣν (which) καιροῖς (seasons) ἰδίοις (in the own) δείξει (He will display), ὁ (the) μακάριος (blessed) καὶ (and) μόνος (alone) Δυνάστης (Sovereign), ὁ (the) Βασιλεὺς (King) τῶν (of those) βασιλευόντων (being kings), καὶ (and) Κύριος (the Lord) τῶν (of those) κυριευόντων (being lords),

¹⁷ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Τῷ (The one) νικῶντι (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) τοῦ (the) μάννα (manna) τοῦ (-) κεκρυμμένου (having been hidden); καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ψῆφον (stone) λευκήν (white), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) ψῆφον (stone) ὄνομα (a name) καινὸν (new) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (has known), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) λαμβάνων (receiving it).

¹² οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὀφθαλμοὶ (the eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) [ὡς] (are like) φλὸξ (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διαδήματα (royal crowns) πολλά (many), ἔχων (having) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (knows), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) αὐτός (He Himself), ¹³ καὶ (and) περιβεβλημένος (having been clothed with) ἱμάτιον (a garment) βεβαμμένον (having been dipped) αἵματι (in blood). καὶ (And) κέκληται (is called) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ὁ (The) Λόγος (Word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἤκουσα (I heard) ἑνὸς (one) ἀετοῦ (eagle) πετομένου (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), λέγοντος (saying) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), “Οὐαὶ (Woe)! οὐαὶ (Woe)! οὐαὶ (Woe) τοὺς (to those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ἐκ (because of) τῶν (the) λοιπῶν (remaining) φωνῶν (voices) τῆς (of the) σάλπιγγος (trumpet) τῶν (of the) τριῶν (three) ἀγγέλων (angels) τῶν (-) μελλόντων (being about) σαλπίζειν (to sound their trumpets)!”

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλον (another) ἄγγελον (angel) πετόμενον (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), ἔχοντα (having) εὐαγγέλιον (the glad tidings) αἰώνιον (everlasting) εὐαγγελίσαι (to preach) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (those) καθημένους (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) πᾶν (every) ἔθνος (nation) καὶ (and) φυλὴν (tribe) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαν (tongue) καὶ (and) λαόν (people),

²⁸ ὅπου (For wherever) ἐὰν (if) ᾖ (may be) τὸ (the) πτῶμα (carcass), ἐκεῖ (there) συναχθήσονται (will be gathered) οἱ (the) ἀετοί (vultures).

³⁷ Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθέντες (answering), λέγουσιν (they say) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ποῦ (Where), Κύριε (Lord)?” Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὅπου (Where) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body is), ἐκεῖ (there) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) ἀετοὶ (vultures) ἐπισυναχθήσονται (will be gathered together).”

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) μεγιστᾶνες (great ones), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) χιλίαρχοι (commanders), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πλούσιοι (rich), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἰσχυροὶ (powerful), καὶ (and) πᾶς (every) δοῦλος (slave) καὶ (and) ἐλεύθερος (free), ἔκρυψαν (hid) ἑαυτοὺς (themselves) εἰς (in) τὰ (the) σπήλαια (caves), καὶ (and) εἰς (among) τὰς (the) πέτρας (rocks) τῶν (of the) ὀρέων (mountains).

¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ποιεῖ (it causes) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) μικροὺς (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) μεγάλους (great), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πλουσίους (rich) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πτωχούς (poor), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) ἐλευθέρους (free) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants), ἵνα (that) δῶσιν (it should give) αὐτοῖς (them) χάραγμα (a mark) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) χειρὸς (hand) αὐτῶν (of them) τῆς (-) δεξιᾶς (right), ἢ (or) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῶν (of them),

⁷ Καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) τελέσωσιν (they shall have completed) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) αὐτῶν (of them), τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) τὸ (-) ἀναβαῖνον (coming up) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ἀβύσσου (abyss) ποιήσει (will make) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) πόλεμον (war), καὶ (and) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτοὺς (them), καὶ (and) ἀποκτενεῖ (will kill) αὐτούς (them).

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) θηρίον (a beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising), ἔχον (having) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten), καὶ (and) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτά (seven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) κεράτων (horns) αὐτοῦ (of it), δέκα (ten) διαδήματα (royal crowns), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰς (the) κεφαλὰς (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it), ὀνόματα (names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy). ² καὶ (And) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) ὃ (that) εἶδον (I saw) ἦν (was) ὅμοιον (like) παρδάλει (a leopard), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) ἄρκου (a bear’s), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (like) στόμα (the mouth) λέοντος (of a lion). καὶ (And) ἔδωκεν (gave) αὐτῷ (to it) ὁ (the) δράκων (dragon) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (authority) μεγάλην (great). ³ Καὶ (And) μίαν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) κεφαλῶν (heads) αὐτοῦ (of it) ὡς (was as) ἐσφαγμένην (having been slain) εἰς (to) θάνατον (death). καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (wound) τοῦ (of) θανάτου (death) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐθεραπεύθη (was healed), καὶ (and) ἐθαυμάσθη (marveled) ὅλη (all) ἡ (the) γῆ (earth) ὀπίσω (after) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast). ⁴ καὶ (And) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (the) δράκοντι (dragon), ὅτι (who) ἔδωκεν (had given) τὴν (-) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast); καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped) τῷ (the) θηρίῳ (beast), λέγοντες (saying), “Τίς (Who) ὅμοιος (is like) τῷ (the) θηρίῳ (beast)? καὶ (And) τίς (who) δύναται (is able) πολεμῆσαι (to make war) μετ’ (against) αὐτοῦ (it)?” ⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) στόμα (a mouth) λαλοῦν (speaking) μεγάλα (great things) καὶ (and) βλασφημίας (blasphemy); καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ποιῆσαι (to act) μῆνας (months) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) [καὶ] (and) δύο (two). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἤνοιξεν (it opened) τὸ (the) στόμα (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of it) εἰς (unto) βλασφημίας (blasphemies) πρὸς (against) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), βλασφημῆσαι (to blaspheme) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) σκηνὴν (tabernacle) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τοὺς (those) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) σκηνοῦντας (dwelling). ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to make) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) νικῆσαι (to overcome) αὐτούς (them). καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτῷ (to it) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐπὶ (over) πᾶσαν (every) φυλὴν (tribe) καὶ (and) λαὸν (people) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαν (tongue) καὶ (and) ἔθνος (nation). ⁸ καὶ (And) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) αὐτὸν (it) πάντες (all) οἱ (-) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), οὗ (of whom) οὐ (not) γέγραπται (have been written) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (names) αὐτοῦ (of them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) τοῦ (-) ἐσφαγμένου (having been slain), ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the founding) κόσμου (of the world). ⁹ Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) ἔχει (has) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear). ¹⁰ “Εἴ (If) τις (anyone is to go) εἰς (into) αἰχμαλωσίαν (captivity), εἰς (into) αἰχμαλωσίαν (captivity) ὑπάγει (he goes); εἴ (If) τις (anyone) ἐν (with) μαχαίρῃ (the sword) ἀποκτανθῆναι* (is to be killed), 〈δεῖ〉 (it is necessary for) αὐτὸν (him) ἐν (by) μαχαίρῃ (the sword) ἀποκτανθῆναι (to be killed).” Ὧδέ (Here) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) ὑπομονὴ (endurance) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints).

⁹ Καὶ (And) ἄλλος (another) ἄγγελος (angel), τρίτος (a third), ἠκολούθησεν (followed) αὐτοῖς (them), λέγων (saying) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), “Εἴ (If) τις (anyone) προσκυνεῖ (worships) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) εἰκόνα (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), καὶ (and) λαμβάνει (receives) χάραγμα (a mark) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) μετώπου (forehead) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἢ (or) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) αὐτοῦ (of him),

¹⁴ εἰσὶν (they are) γὰρ (for) πνεύματα (spirits) δαιμονίων (of demons) ποιοῦντα (performing) σημεῖα (signs), ἃ (which) ἐκπορεύεται (go forth) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (battle) τῆς (of the) ἡμέρας (day) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).

¹⁶ Καὶ (And) συνήγαγεν (he gathered together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) τὸν (-) καλούμενον (called) Ἑβραϊστὶ (in Hebrew) Ἁρ¦μαγεδών (Armageddon).

¹² καὶ (And) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns) ἃ (which) εἶδες (you saw), δέκα (ten) βασιλεῖς (kings) εἰσιν (are), οἵτινες (who) βασιλείαν (a kingdom) οὔπω (not yet) ἔλαβον (have received), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ὡς (as) βασιλεῖς (kings) μίαν (one) ὥραν (hour) λαμβάνουσιν (receive), μετὰ (along with) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast). ¹³ οὗτοι (These) μίαν (one) γνώμην (mind) ἔχουσιν (have), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δύναμιν (power) καὶ (and) ἐξουσίαν (authority) αὐτῶν (of themselves), τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast) διδόασιν (they shall give up). ¹⁴ Οὗτοι (These) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) πολεμήσουσιν (war will make), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) Κύριος (Lord) κυρίων (of lords) ἐστὶν (He is), καὶ (and) Βασιλεὺς (King) βασιλέων (of kings); καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) κλητοὶ (are called) καὶ (and) ἐκλεκτοὶ (chosen) καὶ (and) πιστοί (faithful).”

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war). ¹² οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὀφθαλμοὶ (the eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) [ὡς] (are like) φλὸξ (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διαδήματα (royal crowns) πολλά (many), ἔχων (having) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (knows), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) αὐτός (He Himself), ¹³ καὶ (and) περιβεβλημένος (having been clothed with) ἱμάτιον (a garment) βεβαμμένον (having been dipped) αἵματι (in blood). καὶ (And) κέκληται (is called) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ὁ (The) Λόγος (Word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) τὰ (who were) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) ἠκολούθει (were following) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐφ’ (upon) ἵπποις (horses) λευκοῖς (white), ἐνδεδυμένοι (having been clothed in) βύσσινον (fine linen), λευκὸν (white), καθαρόν (pure).

⁸ καὶ (And) τότε (then) ἀποκαλυφθήσεται (will be revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνομος (lawless one), ὃν (whom) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἀνελεῖ (will slay) τῷ (with the) πνεύματι (breath) τοῦ (of the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) καταργήσει (will annul) τῇ (by the) ἐπιφανείᾳ (appearing) τῆς (of the) παρουσίας (coming) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ⁹ οὗ (whose) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (-) παρουσία (coming), κατ’ (according to) ἐνέργειαν (the working) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan), ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) δυνάμει (power), καὶ (and) σημείοις (in signs), καὶ (and) τέρασιν (in wonders) ψεύδους (of falsehood), ¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) ἀπάτῃ (deceit) ἀδικίας (of wickedness) τοῖς (unto those) ἀπολλυμένοις (perishing), ἀνθ’ (in return for) ὧν (which) τὴν (the) ἀγάπην (love) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) οὐκ (not) ἐδέξαντο (they received), εἰς (in order for) τὸ (-) σωθῆναι (to be saved) αὐτούς (them). ¹¹ καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), πέμπει (will send) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐνέργειαν (a working) πλάνης (of delusion), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) πιστεῦσαι (to believe) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (what) ψεύδει (is false),

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλο (another) θηρίον (beast) ἀναβαῖνον (rising) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) εἶχεν (it had) κέρατα (horns) δύο (two) ὅμοια (like) ἀρνίῳ (a lamb), καὶ (and) ἐλάλει (it was speaking) ὡς (like) δράκων (a dragon). ¹² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) ἐξουσίαν (authority) τοῦ (of the) πρώτου (first) θηρίου (beast) πᾶσαν (all) ποιεῖ (it exercises) ἐνώπιον (on behalf) αὐτοῦ (of it), καὶ (and) ποιεῖ (causes) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling), ἵνα (that) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) τὸ (-) πρῶτον (first), οὗ (of whom) ἐθεραπεύθη (had been healed) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (wound) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (fatal) αὐτοῦ (of it). ¹³ Καὶ (And) ποιεῖ (it works) σημεῖα (signs) μεγάλα (great), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (even) πῦρ (fire) ποιῇ (it should cause) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) καταβαίνειν (to come down) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) ἐνώπιον (in the presence) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men). ¹⁴ καὶ (And) πλανᾷ (it deceives) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), διὰ (by reason of) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἃ (that) ἐδόθη (were given) αὐτῷ (to it) ποιῆσαι (to perform) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast), λέγων (telling) τοῖς (those) κατοικοῦσιν (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) ποιῆσαι (to make) εἰκόνα (an image) τῷ (to the) θηρίῳ (beast) ὃς (that) ἔχει (has) τὴν (the) πληγὴν (wound) τῆς (of the) μαχαίρης (sword) καὶ (and) ἔζησεν (has lived). ¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) δοῦναι (to give) πνεῦμα (breath) τῇ (to the) εἰκόνι (image) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) λαλήσῃ (should speak) ἡ (the) εἰκὼν (image) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ποιήσῃ (should cause) ἵνα (that) ὅσοι (as many as) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) προσκυνήσωσιν (would worship) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) ἀποκτανθῶσιν (would be killed). ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) ποιεῖ (it causes) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) μικροὺς (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) μεγάλους (great), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πλουσίους (rich) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) πτωχούς (poor), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) ἐλευθέρους (free) καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants), ἵνα (that) δῶσιν (it should give) αὐτοῖς (them) χάραγμα (a mark) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) χειρὸς (hand) αὐτῶν (of them) τῆς (-) δεξιᾶς (right), ἢ (or) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῶν (of them), ¹⁷ καὶ (and) ἵνα (that) μή (no) τις (one) δύνηται (should be able) ἀγοράσαι (to buy) ἢ (or) πωλῆσαι (to sell), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) ἔχων (having) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) — τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), ἢ (or) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) τοῦ (of the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of it). ¹⁸ Ὧδε (Here) ἡ (the) σοφία (wisdom) ἐστίν (is). ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) νοῦν (understanding), ψηφισάτω (let him count) τὸν (the) ἀριθμὸν (number) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast); ἀριθμὸς (number) γὰρ (for) ἀνθρώπου (a man’s) ἐστίν (it is), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number is) αὐτοῦ (of it), ἑξακόσιοι (six hundred) ἑξήκοντα (sixty) ἕξ (six).

¹⁰ καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (he) πίεται (will drink) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (anger) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (-) κεκερασμένου (having been mixed) ἀκράτου (undiluted) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ποτηρίῳ (cup) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) βασανισθήσεται (he will be tormented) ἐν (in) πυρὶ (fire) καὶ (and) θείῳ (brimstone), ἐνώπιον (before) ἀγγέλων (the angels) ἁγίων (holy), καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw coming) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) δράκοντος (dragon), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) ψευδοπροφήτου (false prophet), πνεύματα (spirits) τρία (three) ἀκάθαρτα (unclean), ὡς (like) βάτραχοι (frogs); ¹⁴ εἰσὶν (they are) γὰρ (for) πνεύματα (spirits) δαιμονίων (of demons) ποιοῦντα (performing) σημεῖα (signs), ἃ (which) ἐκπορεύεται (go forth) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (battle) τῆς (of the) ἡμέρας (day) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).

³ Καὶ (And) ἀπήνεγκέν (he carried away) με (me) εἰς (into) ἔρημον (a wilderness) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) γυναῖκα (a woman) καθημένην (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) θηρίον (a beast) κόκκινον (scarlet), γέμοντα (being full) ὀνόματα (of names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἦν (was) περιβεβλημένη (clothed in) πορφυροῦν (purple) καὶ (and) κόκκινον (scarlet), καὶ (and) κεχρυσωμένη (adorned) χρυσίῳ (with gold) καὶ (and) λίθῳ (stone) τιμίῳ (precious) καὶ (and) μαργαρίταις (pearls), ἔχουσα (holding) ποτήριον (a cup) χρυσοῦν (golden) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτῆς (of her), γέμον (being full) βδελυγμάτων (of abominations) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) ἀκάθαρτα (impurity) τῆς (of the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her). ⁵ καὶ (And) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῆς (of her) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (was written), μυστήριον (a mystery): ΒΑΒΥΛΩΝ (Babylon) Ο* (the) ΜΕΓΑΛΗ (Great), Ο* (the) ΜΗΤΗΡ (mother) ΤΩΝ (of the) ΠΟΡΝΩΝ (prostitutes), ΚΑΙ (and) ΤΩΝ (of the) ΒΔΕΛΥΓΜΑΤΩΝ (abominations) ΤΗΣ (of the) ΓΗΣ (earth). ⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (woman) μεθύουσαν (being drunk) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) μαρτύρων (witnesses) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐθαύμασα (I marveled), ἰδὼν (having seen) αὐτὴν (her), θαῦμα (with wonder) μέγα (great). ⁷ Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (said) μοι (to me) ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel), “Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) ἐθαύμασας (did you marvel)? ἐγὼ (I) ἐρῶ (will tell) σοι (you) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τῆς (of the) γυναικὸς (woman), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) τοῦ (-) βαστάζοντος (carrying) αὐτήν (her), τοῦ (-) ἔχοντος (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) κεφαλὰς (heads), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns). ⁸ Τὸ (The) θηρίον (beast) ὃ (that) εἶδες (you saw) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is), καὶ (and) μέλλει (is about) ἀναβαίνειν (to come up) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ἀβύσσου (abyss) καὶ (and) εἰς (into) ἀπώλειαν (destruction) ὑπάγει (go); καὶ (and) θαυμασθήσονται (will wonder) οἱ (those) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), ὧν (whose) οὐ (not) γέγραπται (are written) τὸ (-) ὄνομα (names) ἐπὶ (in) τὸ (the) βιβλίον (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the foundation) κόσμου (of the world), βλεπόντων (seeing) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) ὅτι (which) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is), καὶ (and yet) παρέσται (will be).

¹² καὶ (And) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns) ἃ (which) εἶδες (you saw), δέκα (ten) βασιλεῖς (kings) εἰσιν (are), οἵτινες (who) βασιλείαν (a kingdom) οὔπω (not yet) ἔλαβον (have received), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ὡς (as) βασιλεῖς (kings) μίαν (one) ὥραν (hour) λαμβάνουσιν (receive), μετὰ (along with) τοῦ (the) θηρίου (beast).

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil), ὁ (the one) πλανῶν (deceiving) αὐτοὺς (them), ἐβλήθη (was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire) καὶ (and) θείου (of sulfur), ὅπου (where are) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet); καὶ (and) βασανισθήσονται (they will be tormented) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) ὁ (-) θάνατος (Death) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) ᾅδης (Hades) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire). οὗτος (This) ὁ (the) θάνατος (death) ὁ (-) δεύτερός (second) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) λίμνη (lake) τοῦ (of) πυρός (fire). ¹⁵ καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) οὐχ (not) εὑρέθη (was found) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βίβλῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) γεγραμμένος (having been written), ἐβλήθη (he was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire).

⁸ Τοῖς (-) δὲ (But) δειλοῖς (to the cowardly) καὶ (and) ἀπίστοις (unbelieving) καὶ (and) ἐβδελυγμένοις (having become abominable) καὶ (and) φονεῦσιν (murderers) καὶ (and) πόρνοις (the sexually immoral) καὶ (and) φαρμάκοις (sorcerers) καὶ (and) εἰδωλολάτραις (idolaters) καὶ (and) πᾶσιν (all) τοῖς (-) ψευδέσιν (liars), τὸ (the) μέρος (portion) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐν (is in) τῇ (the) λίμνῃ (lake) τῇ (-) καιομένῃ (burning) πυρὶ (with fire) καὶ (and) θείῳ (brimstone), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) θάνατος (death) ὁ (-) δεύτερος (second).”

¹⁵ ἔξω (Outside are) οἱ (the) κύνες (dogs), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) φάρμακοι (sorcerers), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόρνοι (sexually immoral), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) φονεῖς (murderers), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) εἰδωλολάτραι (idolaters), καὶ (and) πᾶς (everyone) φιλῶν (loving) καὶ (and) ποιῶν (practicing) ψεῦδος (falsehood).

¹⁶ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) δέκα (ten) κέρατα (horns) ἃ (that) εἶδες (you saw), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), οὗτοι (these) μισήσουσιν (will hate) τὴν (the) πόρνην (prostitute), καὶ (and) ἠρημωμένην (desolate) ποιήσουσιν (will make) αὐτὴν (her), καὶ (and) γυμνήν (naked); καὶ (and) τὰς (the) σάρκας (flesh) αὐτῆς (of her) φάγονται (they will eat), καὶ (and) αὐτὴν (her) κατακαύσουσιν (they will burn) ἐν (with) πυρί (fire).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven) ἠνεῳγμένον (having been opened), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἵππος (a horse) λευκός (white), καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (it), καλούμενος (called) Πιστὸς (Faithful) καὶ (and) Ἀληθινός (True), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) δικαιοσύνῃ (righteousness) κρίνει (He judges) καὶ (and) πολεμεῖ (makes war). ¹² οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ὀφθαλμοὶ (the eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) [ὡς] (are like) φλὸξ (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) κεφαλὴν (head) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διαδήματα (royal crowns) πολλά (many), ἔχων (having) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (knows), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) αὐτός (He Himself), ¹³ καὶ (and) περιβεβλημένος (having been clothed with) ἱμάτιον (a garment) βεβαμμένον (having been dipped) αἵματι (in blood). καὶ (And) κέκληται (is called) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ὁ (The) Λόγος (Word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) τὰ (who were) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven) ἠκολούθει (were following) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐφ’ (upon) ἵπποις (horses) λευκοῖς (white), ἐνδεδυμένοι (having been clothed in) βύσσινον (fine linen), λευκὸν (white), καθαρόν (pure). ¹⁵ καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth) ῥομφαία (a sword) ὀξεῖα (sharp), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (with) αὐτῇ (it) πατάξῃ (He may strike down) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations); καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐν (with) ῥάβδῳ (a rod) σιδηρᾷ (of iron). καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) πατεῖ (treads) τὴν (the) ληνὸν (press) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἕνα (one) ἄγγελον (angel) ἑστῶτα (standing) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἡλίῳ (sun), καὶ (and) ἔκραξεν (he cried out) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγων (saying) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) ὀρνέοις (birds) τοῖς (-) πετομένοις (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), “Δεῦτε (Come), συνάχθητε (gather yourselves) εἰς (unto) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τὸ (-) μέγα (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ¹⁸ ἵνα (so that) φάγητε (you may eat) σάρκας (the flesh) βασιλέων (of kings), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) χιλιάρχων (of commanders), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἰσχυρῶν (of mighty men), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) ἵππων (of horses) καὶ (and) τῶν (of those) καθημένων (sitting) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) σάρκας (the flesh) πάντων (of all), ἐλευθέρων (free) τε (both) καὶ (and) δούλων (slaves), καὶ (and) μικρῶν (small) καὶ (and) μεγάλων (great).” ¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him).
