¹⁸ κἀγὼ (I also) δέ (now) σοι (to you) λέγω (say) ὅτι (that) σὺ (you) εἶ (are) Πέτρος (Peter), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) ταύτῃ (this) τῇ (the) πέτρᾳ (rock) οἰκοδομήσω (I will build) μου (My) τὴν (-) ἐκκλησίαν (church), καὶ (and) πύλαι (the gates) ᾅδου (of hades) οὐ (not) κατισχύσουσιν (will prevail against) αὐτῆς (it).

¹⁰ Κατὰ (According to) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τὴν (-) δοθεῖσάν (having been given) μοι (to me), ὡς (as) σοφὸς (a wise) ἀρχιτέκτων (master builder) θεμέλιον (the foundation) ἔθηκα (I have laid); ἄλλος (another) δὲ (however) ἐποικοδομεῖ (is building upon it). ἕκαστος (Each one) δὲ (however) βλεπέτω (let take heed) πῶς (how) ἐποικοδομεῖ (he builds upon it). ¹¹ θεμέλιον (Foundation) γὰρ (for) ἄλλον (another), οὐδεὶς (no one) δύναται (is able) θεῖναι (to lay), παρὰ (besides) τὸν (the one) κείμενον (being already laid), ὅς (which) ἐστιν (is) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) Χριστός (Christ).

⁹ καὶ (and) γνόντες (having known) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τὴν (-) δοθεῖσάν (having been given) μοι (to me), Ἰάκωβος (James) καὶ (and) Κηφᾶς (Cephas) καὶ (and) Ἰωάννης (John), οἱ (those) δοκοῦντες (esteemed) στῦλοι (pillars) εἶναι (to be), δεξιὰς (the right hands) ἔδωκαν (gave) ἐμοὶ (to me) καὶ (and) Βαρνάβα (Barnabas), κοινωνίας (of fellowship), ἵνα (that) ἡμεῖς (we should go) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles); αὐτοὶ (they) δὲ (however) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) περιτομήν (circumcision).

²⁰ ἐποικοδομηθέντες (having been built) ἐπὶ (upon) τῷ (the) θεμελίῳ (foundation) τῶν (of the) ἀποστόλων (apostles) καὶ (and) προφητῶν (prophets), ὄντος (being) ἀκρογωνιαίου (the cornerstone) αὐτοῦ (Himself) Χριστοῦ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus),

⁵ ὃ (which) ἑτέραις (in other) γενεαῖς (generations) οὐκ (not) ἐγνωρίσθη (was made known) τοῖς (to the) υἱοῖς (sons) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (of men), ὡς (as) νῦν (now) ἀπεκαλύφθη (it has been revealed) τοῖς (to) ἁγίοις (holy) ἀποστόλοις (apostles) αὐτοῦ (His) καὶ (and) προφήταις (prophets) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit),

¹¹ Καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) ἔδωκεν (gave) τοὺς (some) μὲν (indeed) ἀποστόλους (to be apostles), τοὺς (some) δὲ (now) προφήτας (prophets), τοὺς (some) δὲ (now) εὐαγγελιστάς (evangelists), τοὺς (some) δὲ (now) ποιμένας (shepherds) καὶ (and) διδασκάλους (teachers),

¹⁰ ἐξεδέχετο (He was awaiting) γὰρ (for) τὴν (the) τοὺς (-) θεμελίους (foundations) ἔχουσαν (having) πόλιν (city), ἧς (of which) τεχνίτης (the architect) καὶ (and) δημιουργὸς (builder is) ὁ (-) Θεός (God).

¹⁷ Ὑμεῖς (You) δέ (however), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), μνήσθητε (remember) τῶν (the) ῥημάτων (words) τῶν (-) προειρημένων (having been spoken beforehand) ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (the) ἀποστόλων (apostles) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ),

²⁰ “Εὐφραίνου (Rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτῇ (her), οὐρανέ (O heaven), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἅγιοι (you saints), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἀπόστολοι (apostles), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) προφῆται (prophets), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (did judge) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ὑμῶν (for you) ἐξ (against) αὐτῆς (her).”

¹⁹ οἱ (the) θεμέλιοι (foundations) τοῦ (of the) τείχους (wall) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city), παντὶ (with every) λίθῳ (stone) τιμίῳ (precious) κεκοσμημένοι (having been adorned): ὁ (the) θεμέλιος (foundation) ὁ (-) πρῶτος (first) ἴασπις (jasper), ὁ (the) δεύτερος (second) σάπφιρος (sapphire), ὁ (the) τρίτος (third) χαλκηδών (chalcedony), ὁ (the) τέταρτος (fourth) σμάραγδος (emerald), ²⁰ ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) σαρδόνυξ (sardonyx), ὁ (the) ἕκτος (sixth) σάρδιον (sardius), ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) χρυσόλιθος (chrysolite), ὁ (the) ὄγδοος (eighth) βήρυλλος (beryl), ὁ (the) ἔνατος (ninth) τοπάζιον (topaz), ὁ (the) δέκατος (tenth) χρυσόπρασος (chrysoprase), ὁ (the) ἑνδέκατος (eleventh) ὑάκινθος (jacinth), ὁ (the) δωδέκατος (twelfth) ἀμέθυστος (amethyst). ²¹ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) δώδεκα (twelve) πυλῶνες (gates were) δώδεκα (twelve) μαργαρῖται (pearls); ἀνὰ (respectively) εἷς (one) ἕκαστος (each) τῶν (of the) πυλώνων (gates) ἦν (was) ἐξ (of) ἑνὸς (one) μαργαρίτου (pearl). καὶ (and) ἡ (the) πλατεῖα (street) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) χρυσίον (gold), καθαρὸν (pure) ὡς (as) ὕαλος (glass) διαυγής (transparent).
