¹ Καὶ (And) ἔδειξέν (he showed) μοι (me) ποταμὸν (a river) ὕδατος (of water) ζωῆς (of life), λαμπρὸν (clear) ὡς (as) κρύσταλλον (crystal), ἐκπορευόμενον (flowing) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb). ² ἐν (In) μέσῳ (the middle) τῆς (of the) πλατείας (street) αὐτῆς (of it) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) ποταμοῦ (river), ἐντεῦθεν (on this side) καὶ (and) ἐκεῖθεν (on that side), ξύλον (was a tree) ζωῆς (of life), ποιοῦν (producing) καρποὺς (fruits) δώδεκα (twelve), κατὰ (according to) μῆνα (month), ἕκαστον (each) ἀποδιδοῦν (yielding) τὸν (the) καρπὸν (fruit) αὐτοῦ (of it); καὶ (and) τὰ (the) φύλλα (leaves) τοῦ (of the) ξύλου (tree) εἰς (are for) θεραπείαν (the healing) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations). ³ Καὶ (And) πᾶν (any) κατάθεμα (curse) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (there will be) ἔτι (any longer). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) θρόνος (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) ἔσται (will be), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) δοῦλοι (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him) λατρεύσουσιν (will serve) αὐτῷ (Him). ⁴ καὶ (And) ὄψονται (they will see) τὸ (the) πρόσωπον (face) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐπὶ (will be on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads) αὐτῶν (of them). ⁵ καὶ (And) νὺξ (night) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (there will be) ἔτι (there), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔχουσιν (they have) χρείαν (need) φωτὸς (of the light) λύχνου (of a lamp) καὶ (and) φωτὸς (of the light) ἡλίου (of the sun), ὅτι (because) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) φωτίσει (will enlighten) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) βασιλεύσουσιν (they will reign) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages). ⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) λόγοι (words) πιστοὶ (are faithful) καὶ (and) ἀληθινοί (true). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τῶν (of the) πνευμάτων (spirits) τῶν (of the) προφητῶν (prophets), ἀπέστειλεν (sent) τὸν (the) ἄγγελον (angel) αὐτοῦ (of Him), δεῖξαι (to show) τοῖς (the) δούλοις (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἃ (the things that) δεῖ (must) γενέσθαι (come to pass) ἐν (in) τάχει (quickness).” ⁷ “Καὶ (And) Ἰδοὺ (behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly). μακάριος (Blessed is) ὁ (the one) τηρῶν (keeping) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this).” ⁸ Κἀγὼ (And I), Ἰωάννης (John), ὁ (am the one) ἀκούων (hearing) καὶ (and) βλέπων (seeing) ταῦτα (these things). καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἤκουσα (I heard) καὶ (and) ἔβλεψα (saw), ἔπεσα (I fell down) προσκυνῆσαι (to worship) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) τοῦ (of the) ἀγγέλου (angel) τοῦ (-) δεικνύοντός (showing) μοι (me) ταῦτα (these things). ⁹ καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (Fellow servant) σού (of you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (with the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (prophets), καὶ (and) τῶν (with those) τηρούντων (keeping) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)!” ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Μὴ (Not) σφραγίσῃς (seal) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this); ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time) γὰρ (for) ἐγγύς (near) ἐστιν (is). ¹¹ ὁ (The one) ἀδικῶν (being unrighteous), ἀδικησάτω (let him be unrighteous) ἔτι (still); καὶ (and) ὁ (he who) ῥυπαρὸς (is filthy), ῥυπανθήτω (let him be filthy) ἔτι (still); καὶ (and) ὁ (he who) δίκαιος (is righteous), δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) ποιησάτω (let him practice) ἔτι (still); καὶ (and) ὁ (he who is) ἅγιος (holy), ἁγιασθήτω (let him be holy) ἔτι (still).” ¹² “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) μισθός (reward) μου (of Me) μετ’ (is with) ἐμοῦ (Me), ἀποδοῦναι (to give) ἑκάστῳ (to each) ὡς (as) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) ἐστὶν (is) αὐτοῦ (his). ¹³ ἐγὼ (I am) τὸ (the) Ἄλφα (Alpha) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ὦ (Omega), ὁ (the) πρῶτος (First) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἔσχατος (Last), ἡ (the) ἀρχὴ (Beginning) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) τέλος (End).” ¹⁴ Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πλύνοντες (washing) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (that) ἔσται (will be) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (right) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) ξύλον (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) τοῖς (by the) πυλῶσιν (gates) εἰσέλθωσιν (they shall enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city). ¹⁵ ἔξω (Outside are) οἱ (the) κύνες (dogs), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) φάρμακοι (sorcerers), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόρνοι (sexually immoral), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) φονεῖς (murderers), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) εἰδωλολάτραι (idolaters), καὶ (and) πᾶς (everyone) φιλῶν (loving) καὶ (and) ποιῶν (practicing) ψεῦδος (falsehood). ¹⁶ “Ἐγὼ (I), Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ἔπεμψα (have sent) τὸν (the) ἄγγελόν (angel) μου (of Me) μαρτυρῆσαι (to testify) ὑμῖν (to you) ταῦτα (these things) ἐπὶ (in) ταῖς (the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) ῥίζα (root) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) γένος (offspring) Δαυίδ (of David), ὁ (the) ἀστὴρ (star) ὁ (-) λαμπρός (bright) ὁ (-) πρωϊνός (morning).” ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) νύμφη (bride) λέγουσιν (say), “Ἔρχου (Come)!” καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) ἀκούων (hearing), εἰπάτω (let him say), “Ἔρχου (Come)!” καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) διψῶν (thirsting) ἐρχέσθω (let him come); ὁ (the one) θέλων (desiring), λαβέτω (let him take) ὕδωρ (the water) ζωῆς (of life) δωρεάν (freely). ¹⁸ Μαρτυρῶ (Testify) ἐγὼ (I) παντὶ (to everyone) τῷ (-) ἀκούοντι (hearing) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this): ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἐπιθῇ (should add) ἐπ’ (to) αὐτά (these things), ἐπιθήσει (will add) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐπ’ (unto) αὐτὸν (him) τὰς (the) πληγὰς (plagues) τὰς (-) γεγραμμένας (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τούτῳ (this). ¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) ἀφέλῃ (should take away) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) λόγων (words) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) ταύτης (this), ἀφελεῖ (will take away) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) μέρος (part) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) ξύλου (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city) τῆς (-) ἁγίας (holy), τῶν (of those) γεγραμμένων (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τούτῳ (this). ²⁰ Λέγει (Says) ὁ (the One) μαρτυρῶν (testifying) ταῦτα (these things), “Ναί (Yes), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly).” Ἀμήν (Amen). ἔρχου (Come), Κύριε (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus)! ²¹ Ἡ (The) χάρις (grace) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) μετὰ (be with) πάντων (all) ⧼ἁγίων (the saints). Ἀμήν⧽ (Amen).

¹⁰ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῇ (to her), “Εἰ (If) ᾔδεις (you had known) τὴν (the) δωρεὰν (gift) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) τίς (who) ἐστιν (it is) ὁ (-) λέγων (saying) σοι (to you), ‘Δός (Give) μοι (Me) πεῖν (to drink),’ σὺ (you) ἂν (-) ᾔτησας (would have asked) αὐτὸν (Him), καὶ (and) ἔδωκεν (He would have given) ἄν (-) σοι (to you) ὕδωρ (water) ζῶν (living).” ¹¹ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) ‹ἡ (the) γυνή› (woman) “Κύριε (Sir), οὔτε (nothing) ἄντλημα (to draw with) ἔχεις (You have), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) φρέαρ (well) ἐστὶν (is) βαθύ (deep); πόθεν (from where) οὖν (then) ἔχεις (have You) τὸ (the) ὕδωρ (water) τὸ (-) ζῶν (living)?

¹⁴ ὃς (whoever) δ’ (however) ἂν (-) πίῃ (may drink) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ὕδατος (water) οὗ (that) ἐγὼ (I) δώσω (will give) αὐτῷ (him), οὐ (never) μὴ (not) διψήσει (will thirst), εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age). ἀλλὰ (Instead), τὸ (the) ὕδωρ (water) ὃ (that) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) γενήσεται (will become) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him) πηγὴ (a spring) ὕδατος (of water), ἁλλομένου (welling up) εἰς (into) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).”

³⁸ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) ἐμέ (Me), καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (has said) ἡ (the) γραφή (Scripture): ‘Ποταμοὶ (Rivers) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) κοιλίας (belly) αὐτοῦ (of him) ῥεύσουσιν (will flow) ὕδατος (of water) ζῶντος (living).’” ³⁹ τοῦτο (This) δὲ (now) εἶπεν (He said) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit), οὗ (whom) ἔμελλον (were about) λαμβάνειν (to receive) οἱ (those) πιστεύσαντες (having believed) εἰς (in) αὐτόν (Him); οὔπω (not yet given) γὰρ (for) ἦν (was) Πνεῦμα (the Spirit), ὅτι (because) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) οὐδέπω (not yet) ἐδοξάσθη (was glorified).

¹⁶ Κἀγὼ (And I) ἐρωτήσω (will ask) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), καὶ (and) ἄλλον (another) Παράκλητον (Helper) δώσει (He will give) ὑμῖν (you), ἵνα (that) ᾖ (He may be) «μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα» (age), ¹⁷ τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῆς (-) ἀληθείας (of truth), ὃ (whom) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) οὐ (not) δύναται (is able) λαβεῖν (to receive), ὅτι (because) οὐ (not) θεωρεῖ (it does see) αὐτὸ (Him), οὐδὲ (nor) γινώσκει (know). ὑμεῖς (But you) γινώσκετε (know) αὐτό (Him), ὅτι (for) παρ’ (with) ὑμῖν (you) μένει (He abides), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) ἔσται (He will be). ¹⁸ Οὐκ (Not) ἀφήσω (I will leave) ὑμᾶς (you) ὀρφανούς (as orphans); ἔρχομαι (I am coming) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you).

²⁶ Ὅταν (When) ἔλθῃ (comes) ὁ (the) Παράκλητος (Helper), ὃν (whom) ἐγὼ (I) πέμψω (will send) ὑμῖν (to you) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father), τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῆς (-) ἀληθείας (of truth), ὃ (who) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) ἐκπορεύεται (goes forth), ἐκεῖνος (He) μαρτυρήσει (will bear witness) περὶ (concerning) ἐμοῦ (Me).

⁷ ἀλλ’ (But) ἐγὼ (I) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you), συμφέρει (it is profitable) ὑμῖν (for you) ἵνα (that) ἐγὼ (I) ἀπέλθω (should go away). ἐὰν (If) γὰρ (for) μὴ (not) ἀπέλθω (I go away), ὁ (the) Παράκλητος (Helper) οὐ (no) μὴ (not at all) ἔλθῃ (will come) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you); ἐὰν (if) δὲ (however) πορευθῶ (I go), πέμψω (I will send) αὐτὸν (Him) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you). ⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐλθὼν (having come), ἐκεῖνος (He) ἐλέγξει (will convict) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) περὶ (concerning) ἁμαρτίας (sin), καὶ (and) περὶ (concerning) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness), καὶ (and) περὶ (concerning) κρίσεως (judgment): ⁹ περὶ (concerning) ἁμαρτίας (sin) μέν (indeed), ὅτι (because) οὐ (not) πιστεύουσιν (do they believe) εἰς (in) ἐμέ (Me); ¹⁰ περὶ (concerning) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness) δέ (now), ὅτι (because) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) ὑπάγω (I go away), καὶ (and) οὐκέτι (no more) θεωρεῖτέ (you behold) με (Me); ¹¹ περὶ (concerning) δὲ (now) κρίσεως (judgment), ὅτι (because) ὁ (the) ἄρχων (ruler) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) τούτου (this) κέκριται (has been judged). ¹² Ἔτι (Yet) πολλὰ (many things) ἔχω (I have) ὑμῖν (to you) λέγειν (to say), ἀλλ’ (but) οὐ (not) δύνασθε (you are able) βαστάζειν (to bear them) ἄρτι (now). ¹³ ὅταν (When) δὲ (however) ἔλθῃ (shall come) ἐκεῖνος (He), τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τῆς (-) ἀληθείας (of truth), ὁδηγήσει (He will guide) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν* (into) τῇ* (the) ἀληθείᾳ* (truth) πάσῃ* (all); οὐ (not) γὰρ (for) λαλήσει (He will speak) ἀφ’ (from) ἑαυτοῦ (Himself), ἀλλ’ (but) ὅσα (whatever) ἀκούσει* (He may hear), λαλήσει (He will speak); καὶ (and) τὰ (the things) ἐρχόμενα (coming) ἀναγγελεῖ (He will declare) ὑμῖν (to you). ¹⁴ ἐκεῖνος (He) ἐμὲ (Me) δοξάσει (will glorify), ὅτι (for) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (that which is) ἐμοῦ (Mine) λήμψεται (He will take), καὶ (and) ἀναγγελεῖ (will disclose) ὑμῖν (to you). ¹⁵ πάντα (All things) ὅσα (whatever) ἔχει (has) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father), ἐμά (Mine) ἐστιν (are); διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), εἶπον (I said) ὅτι (that) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (that which is) ἐμοῦ (Mine) λαμβάνει (He will take) καὶ (and) ἀναγγελεῖ (will disclose) ὑμῖν (to you).

⁴ Καὶ (And) συναλιζόμενος (being assembled together), παρήγγειλεν (He instructed) αὐτοῖς (them) ἀπὸ (from) Ἱεροσολύμων (Jerusalem) μὴ (not) χωρίζεσθαι (to depart), ἀλλὰ (but) περιμένειν (to await) τὴν (the) ἐπαγγελίαν (promise) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father): “Ἣν (That which) ἠκούσατέ (you heard) μου (of Me); ⁵ ὅτι (for) Ἰωάννης (John) μὲν (indeed) ἐβάπτισεν (baptized) ὕδατι (with water); ὑμεῖς (you) δὲ (however) ἐν (with) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) βαπτισθήσεσθε (will be baptized) Ἁγίῳ (Holy), οὐ (not) μετὰ (after) πολλὰς (many) ταύτας (these) ἡμέρας (days).”

³³ τῇ (To the) δεξιᾷ (right hand) οὖν (therefore) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὑψωθεὶς (having been exalted), τήν (-) τε (and) ἐπαγγελίαν (the promise) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Ἁγίου (Holy) λαβὼν (having received) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father), ἐξέχεεν (He has poured out) τοῦτο (this) ὃ (which) ὑμεῖς (you) καὶ (both) βλέπετε (are seeing) καὶ (and) ἀκούετε (hearing).

²¹ Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) καθίσαι (to sit) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne) μου (of Me), ὡς (as) κἀγὼ (I also) ἐνίκησα (overcame) καὶ (and) ἐκάθισα (sat down) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐκπορεύονται (come) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunderings). καὶ (And) ἑπτὰ (there were seven) λαμπάδες (lamps) πυρὸς (of fire) καιόμεναι (burning) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), ἅ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁶ καὶ (And) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ὡς (was something like) θάλασσα (a sea) ὑαλίνη (of glass), ὁμοία (like) κρυστάλλῳ (crystal). καὶ (And) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τέσσαρα (were four) ζῷα (living creatures), γέμοντα (being full) ὀφθαλμῶν (of eyes) ἔμπροσθεν (in front) καὶ (and) ὄπισθεν (behind).

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) τῶν (of the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) μέσῳ (the midst) τῶν (of the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), Ἀρνίον (a Lamb) ἑστηκὸς (standing) ὡς (as) ἐσφαγμένον (having been slain), ἔχων (having) κέρατα (horns) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) ἑπτά (seven), οἵ (which) εἰσιν (are) τὰ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) Πνεύματα (Spirits) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἀπεσταλμένοι (having been sent out) εἰς (into) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth).

¹³ Καὶ (And) πᾶν (every) κτίσμα (creature) ὃ (which) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ὑποκάτω (under) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) θαλάσσης (sea) 〈ἐστίν〉 (is), καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) πάντα (everything), ἤκουσα (I heard) λέγοντας (saying): “Τῷ (To the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb), ἡ (-) εὐλογία (blessing) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory) καὶ (and) τὸ (-) κράτος (might) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).”

¹⁰ καὶ (And) κράζουσιν (they were crying out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἡ (-) σωτηρία (Salvation) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb)!” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) εἱστήκεισαν (stood) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἔπεσαν (they fell) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God),

¹⁷ ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) τὸ (-) ἀνὰ (in the) μέσον (center) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) ὁδηγήσει (He will lead) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐπὶ (to) ζωῆς (living) πηγὰς (fountains) ὑδάτων (of waters), καὶ (and) ἐξαλείψει (will wipe away) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πᾶν (every) δάκρυον (tear) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them).’”

⁶ καὶ (And) εἶπέν (He said) μοι (to me), “Γέγοναν (It is done)! ἐγὼ (I) [εἰμι] (am) τὸ (the) Ἄλφα (Alpha) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ὦ (Omega), ἡ (the) ἀρχὴ (beginning) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) τέλος (end). ἐγὼ (I) τῷ (to the one) διψῶντι (thirsting) δώσω (will give) ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) πηγῆς (spring) τοῦ (of the) ὕδατος (water) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) δωρεάν (freely).

¹¹ ἔχουσαν (having) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ὁ (The) φωστὴρ (radiance) αὐτῆς (of it) ὅμοιος (was like) λίθῳ (a stone) τιμιωτάτῳ (most precious), ὡς (like) λίθῳ (a stone) ἰάσπιδι (jasper) κρυσταλλίζοντι (being clear as crystal),

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) νύμφη (bride) λέγουσιν (say), “Ἔρχου (Come)!” καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) ἀκούων (hearing), εἰπάτω (let him say), “Ἔρχου (Come)!” καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) διψῶν (thirsting) ἐρχέσθω (let him come); ὁ (the one) θέλων (desiring), λαβέτω (let him take) ὕδωρ (the water) ζωῆς (of life) δωρεάν (freely).

¹⁸ “Πνεῦμα (The Spirit) Κυρίου (of the Lord is) ἐπ’ (upon) ἐμέ (Me), Οὗ (of which) εἵνεκεν (because) ἔχρισέν (He has anointed) με (Me) Εὐαγγελίσασθαι (to preach good news) πτωχοῖς (to the poor). Ἀπέσταλκέν (He has sent) με (Me) κηρῦξαι (to proclaim) αἰχμαλώτοις (to the captives) ἄφεσιν (deliverance), Καὶ (and) τυφλοῖς (to the blind) ἀνάβλεψιν (recovery of sight), Ἀποστεῖλαι (to send forth) τεθραυσμένους (the oppressed) ἐν (in) ἀφέσει (deliverance),

²⁴ ὃς (Who) τὰς (the) ἁμαρτίας (sins) ἡμῶν (of us) αὐτὸς (Himself) ἀνήνεγκεν (bore) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σώματι (body) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) ξύλον (tree), ἵνα (so that), ταῖς (-) ἁμαρτίαις (to sins) ἀπογενόμενοι (having been dead), τῇ (-) δικαιοσύνῃ (to righteousness) ζήσωμεν (we might live). “Οὗ (By whose) τῷ (-) μώλωπι (wounds) ἰάθητε (you have been healed).”

⁷ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Τῷ (To the one) νικῶντι (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) φαγεῖν (to eat) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ξύλου (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Παραδείσῳ (paradise) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

²¹ Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) δώδεκα (twelve) πυλῶνες (gates were) δώδεκα (twelve) μαργαρῖται (pearls); ἀνὰ (respectively) εἷς (one) ἕκαστος (each) τῶν (of the) πυλώνων (gates) ἦν (was) ἐξ (of) ἑνὸς (one) μαργαρίτου (pearl). καὶ (and) ἡ (the) πλατεῖα (street) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city) χρυσίον (gold), καθαρὸν (pure) ὡς (as) ὕαλος (glass) διαυγής (transparent).

²⁴ καὶ (And) περιπατήσουσιν (will walk) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) φωτὸς (light) αὐτῆς (of it), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) φέρουσιν (bring) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰς (into) αὐτήν (it).

¹ Καὶ (And) ἔδειξέν (he showed) μοι (me) ποταμὸν (a river) ὕδατος (of water) ζωῆς (of life), λαμπρὸν (clear) ὡς (as) κρύσταλλον (crystal), ἐκπορευόμενον (flowing) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

¹⁴ Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πλύνοντες (washing) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (that) ἔσται (will be) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (right) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) ξύλον (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) τοῖς (by the) πυλῶσιν (gates) εἰσέλθωσιν (they shall enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city).

¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) ἀφέλῃ (should take away) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) λόγων (words) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) ταύτης (this), ἀφελεῖ (will take away) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) μέρος (part) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) ξύλου (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city) τῆς (-) ἁγίας (holy), τῶν (of those) γεγραμμένων (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τούτῳ (this).

²¹ Ἔφη (Said) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (the) κύριος (master) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‘Εὖ (Well done), δοῦλε (servant) ἀγαθὲ (good) καὶ (and) πιστέ (faithful)! ἐπὶ (Over) ὀλίγα (a few things) ἦς (you were) πιστός (faithful); ἐπὶ (over) πολλῶν (many things) σε (you) καταστήσω (will I set). εἴσελθε (Enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) χαρὰν (joy) τοῦ (of the) κυρίου (master) σου (of you)!’

⁴¹ Τότε (Then) ἐρεῖ (will He say) καὶ (also) τοῖς (to those) ἐξ (on) εὐωνύμων (the left), ‘Πορεύεσθε (Depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me), ‹οἱ› (those) κατηραμένοι (being cursed), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) πῦρ (fire) τὸ (-) αἰώνιον (eternal), τὸ (-) ἡτοιμασμένον (having been prepared) τῷ (for the) διαβόλῳ (devil) καὶ (and) τοῖς (the) ἀγγέλοις (angels) αὐτοῦ (of him).

²⁶ ἐὰν (If) ἐμοί (Me) τις (anyone) διακονῇ (serves), ἐμοὶ (Me) ἀκολουθείτω (let him follow); καὶ (and) ὅπου (where) εἰμὶ (am) ἐγὼ (I), ἐκεῖ (there) καὶ (also) ὁ (the) διάκονος (servant) ὁ (-) ἐμὸς (of Me) ἔσται (will be). ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἐμοὶ (Me) διακονῇ (serves), τιμήσει (will honor) αὐτὸν (him) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father).

³ καὶ (And) ἐὰν (if) πορευθῶ (I go) καὶ (and) ἑτοιμάσω (prepare) τόπον (a place) ὑμῖν (for you), πάλιν (again) ἔρχομαι (I am coming) καὶ (and) παραλήμψομαι (will receive) ὑμᾶς (you) πρὸς (to) ἐμαυτόν (Myself), ἵνα (that) ὅπου (where) εἰμὶ (am) ἐγὼ (I), καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you) ἦτε (may be).

²⁴ Πάτερ* (Father), ὃ (those whom) δέδωκάς (You have given) μοι (Me), θέλω (I desire) ἵνα (that) ὅπου (where) εἰμὶ (am) ἐγὼ (I), κἀκεῖνοι (they also) ὦσιν (may be) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me), ἵνα (that) θεωρῶσιν (they may behold) τὴν (-) δόξαν (glory) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My), ἣν (that) δέδωκάς (You gave) μοι (Me) ὅτι (because) ἠγάπησάς (You loved) με (Me) πρὸ (before) καταβολῆς (the foundation) κόσμου (of the world).

¹⁵ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτό (this), ‘Εἰσιν (They are) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) λατρεύουσιν (serve) αὐτῷ (Him) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) σκηνώσει (will tabernacle) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτούς (them). ¹⁶ οὐ (Not) πεινάσουσιν (they will hunger) ἔτι (any more), οὐδὲ (neither) διψήσουσιν (will they thirst) ἔτι (anymore), οὐδὲ (nor) μὴ (at all) πέσῃ (shall fall) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτοὺς (them) ὁ (the) ἥλιος (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) πᾶν (any) καῦμα (scorching heat); ¹⁷ ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) τὸ (-) ἀνὰ (in the) μέσον (center) τοῦ (of the) θρόνου (throne) ποιμανεῖ (will shepherd) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) ὁδηγήσει (He will lead) αὐτοὺς (them) ἐπὶ (to) ζωῆς (living) πηγὰς (fountains) ὑδάτων (of waters), καὶ (and) ἐξαλείψει (will wipe away) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πᾶν (every) δάκρυον (tear) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them).’”

³ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνῆς (a voice) μεγάλης (great) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λεγούσης (saying): “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἡ (the) σκηνὴ (tabernacle) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μετὰ (is with) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men), καὶ (and) σκηνώσει (He will tabernacle) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) αὐτοὶ (they) λαοὶ (peoples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἔσονται (will be), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (Himself) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) ἔσται (will be) [αὐτῶν (as their) θεός] (God). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἐξαλείψει (He will wipe away) πᾶν (every) δάκρυον (tear) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ὁ (-) θάνατος (death) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (will be) ἔτι (any longer) οὔτε (nor) πένθος (mourning) οὔτε (nor) κραυγὴ (crying) οὔτε (nor) πόνος (pain); οὐκ (not) ἔσται (they will be) ἔτι (any longer), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) πρῶτα (former things) ἀπῆλθαν (have passed away).”

²² Καὶ (And) ναὸν (temple) οὐκ (not) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it); ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ναὸς (temple) αὐτῆς (of it) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb). ²³ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) οὐ (no) χρείαν (need) ἔχει (has) τοῦ (of the) ἡλίου (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) τῆς (of the) σελήνης (moon), ἵνα (that) φαίνωσιν (they should shine) αὐτῇ (in it); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δόξα (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐφώτισεν (enlightened) αὐτήν (it), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λύχνος (lamp) αὐτῆς (of it) τὸ (is the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb).

¹² βλέπομεν (We see) γὰρ (for) ἄρτι (presently), δι’ (through) ἐσόπτρου (a glass) ἐν (in) αἰνίγματι (obscurity); τότε (then) δὲ (however), πρόσωπον (face) πρὸς (to) πρόσωπον (face); ἄρτι (presently), γινώσκω (I know) ἐκ (in) μέρους (part); τότε (then) δὲ (however) ἐπιγνώσομαι (I will know fully), καθὼς (as) καὶ (also) ἐπεγνώσθην (I have been fully known).

¹⁴ Εἰρήνην (Peace) διώκετε (pursue) μετὰ (with) πάντων (all), καὶ (and) τὸν (-) ἁγιασμόν (holiness), οὗ (which) χωρὶς (without) οὐδεὶς (no one) ὄψεται (will see) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord),

² Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), νῦν (now) τέκνα (children) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐσμεν (are we), καὶ (and) οὔπω (not yet) ἐφανερώθη (has been revealed) τί (what) ἐσόμεθα (we will be). οἴδαμεν (We know) ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (when) φανερωθῇ (He appears), ὅμοιοι (like) αὐτῷ (Him) ἐσόμεθα (we will be), ὅτι (for) ὀψόμεθα (we will see) αὐτὸν (Him) καθώς (as) ἐστιν (He is). ³ καὶ (And) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) ἐλπίδα (hope) ταύτην (this) ἐπ’ (in) αὐτῷ (Him), ἁγνίζει (purifies) ἑαυτὸν (himself), καθὼς (just as) ἐκεῖνος (He) ἁγνός (pure) ἐστιν (is).

³ λέγων (saying), “Μὴ (Not) ἀδικήσητε (harm) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), μήτε (nor) τὴν (the) θάλασσαν (sea), μήτε (nor) τὰ (the) δένδρα (trees), ἄχρι (until) σφραγίσωμεν (we shall have sealed) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants) τοῦ (of the) Θεοῦ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads) αὐτῶν (of them).”

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) ἑστὸς (was standing) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (-) ὄρος (Mount) Σιών (Zion), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) ἑκατὸν (one hundred) τεσσεράκοντα (forty) τέσσαρες (four) χιλιάδες (thousand), ἔχουσαι (having) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him) γεγραμμένον (having been written) ἐπὶ (on) τῶν (the) μετώπων (foreheads) αὐτῶν (of them).

³⁴ Τότε (Then) ἐρεῖ (will say) ὁ (the) Βασιλεὺς (King) τοῖς (to those) ἐκ (on) δεξιῶν (the right hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ‘Δεῦτε (Come), οἱ (those) εὐλογημένοι (being blessed) τοῦ (of the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of me), κληρονομήσατε (inherit) τὴν (the) ἡτοιμασμένην (having been prepared) ὑμῖν (for you) βασιλείαν (kingdom) ἀπὸ (from the) καταβολῆς (foundation) κόσμου (of the world).

⁴⁶ Καὶ (And) ἀπελεύσονται (will go away) οὗτοι (these) εἰς (into) κόλασιν (punishment) αἰώνιον (eternal); οἱ (-) δὲ (but) δίκαιοι (the righteous) εἰς (into) ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal).”

¹⁷ εἰ (If) γὰρ (for), τῷ (by the) τοῦ (of the) ἑνὸς (one) παραπτώματι (trespass), ὁ (-) θάνατος (death) ἐβασίλευσεν (reigned) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) ἑνός (one), πολλῷ (how much) μᾶλλον (more) οἱ (those) τὴν (the) περισσείαν (abundance) τῆς (-) χάριτος (of grace), καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) δωρεᾶς (gift) τῆς (-) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness) λαμβάνοντες (receiving), ἐν (in) ζωῇ (life) βασιλεύσουσιν (will reign) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) ἑνὸς (one), Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ)!

¹² εἰ (if) ὑπομένομεν (we endure), καὶ (also) συμβασιλεύσομεν* (we will reign together with Him); εἰ (if) ἀρνησόμεθα (we will deny Him), κἀκεῖνος (He also) ἀρνήσεται (will deny) ἡμᾶς (us);

³ Εὐλογητὸς (Blessed be) ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) καὶ (and) Πατὴρ (Father) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὁ (the One) κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) πολὺ (great) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἔλεος (mercy) ἀναγεννήσας (having begotten again) ἡμᾶς (us) εἰς (to) ἐλπίδα (a hope) ζῶσαν (living), δι’ (through) ἀναστάσεως (the resurrection) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead), ⁴ εἰς (to) κληρονομίαν (an inheritance) ἄφθαρτον (imperishable) καὶ (and) ἀμίαντον (undefiled) καὶ (and) ἀμάραντον (unfading), τετηρημένην (being reserved) ἐν (in) οὐρανοῖς (the heavens) εἰς (for) ὑμᾶς (you),

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἄγγελος (angel) ἐσάλπισεν (sounded his trumpet), καὶ (and) ἐγένοντο (there were) φωναὶ (voices) μεγάλαι (great) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) οὐρανῷ (heaven), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἐγένετο (Has become) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world), τοῦ (that of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Χριστοῦ (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) βασιλεύσει (He will reign) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).”

²³ καὶ (And) φῶς (the light) λύχνου (of lamp), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) φάνῃ (shall shine) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer); καὶ (and) φωνὴ (the voice) νυμφίου (of a bridegroom) καὶ (and) νύμφης (a bride), οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἀκουσθῇ (shall be heard) ἐν (in) σοὶ (you) ἔτι (any longer); ὅτι (for) οἱ (the) ἔμποροί (merchants) σου (of you) ἦσαν (were) οἱ (the) μεγιστᾶνες (great ones) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), ὅτι (because) ἐν (by) τῇ (the) φαρμακείᾳ (sorcery) σου (of you) ἐπλανήθησαν (were deceived) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations).”

⁴ ‹Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) θρόνους (thrones), καὶ (and) ἐκάθισαν (they sat) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτούς (them), καὶ (and) κρίμα (judgment) ἐδόθη (was given) αὐτοῖς (to them), καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ψυχὰς (souls) τῶν (of those) πεπελεκισμένων (having been beheaded) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) καὶ (and) διὰ (because of) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) οἵτινες (those who) οὐ (not) προσεκύνησαν (did worship) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), οὐδὲ (nor) τὴν (the) εἰκόνα (image) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔλαβον (did take) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) αὐτῶν (of them). καὶ (And) ἔζησαν (they lived) καὶ (and) ἐβασίλευσαν (reigned) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (-) χριστοῦ (Christ) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη› (years).

²² Καὶ (And) ναὸν (temple) οὐκ (not) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it); ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ναὸς (temple) αὐτῆς (of it) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb). ²³ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) οὐ (no) χρείαν (need) ἔχει (has) τοῦ (of the) ἡλίου (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) τῆς (of the) σελήνης (moon), ἵνα (that) φαίνωσιν (they should shine) αὐτῇ (in it); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δόξα (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐφώτισεν (enlightened) αὐτήν (it), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λύχνος (lamp) αὐτῆς (of it) τὸ (is the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb). ²⁴ καὶ (And) περιπατήσουσιν (will walk) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) φωτὸς (light) αὐτῆς (of it), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) φέρουσιν (bring) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰς (into) αὐτήν (it). ²⁵ καὶ (And) οἱ (the) πυλῶνες (gates) αὐτῆς (of it) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) κλεισθῶσιν (shall be shut) ἡμέρας (by day), νὺξ (night) γὰρ (for) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (will be) ἐκεῖ (there).

⁴¹ ἀποστελεῖ (Will send forth) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) τοὺς (the) ἀγγέλους (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) συλλέξουσιν (they will gather) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) βασιλείας (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of Him) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) σκάνδαλα (causes of sin) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) ποιοῦντας (practicing) τὴν (-) ἀνομίαν (lawlessness),

⁷⁰ καθὼς (as) ἐλάλησεν (He spoke) διὰ (by) στόματος (the mouth) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (holy) ἀπ’ (of) αἰῶνος (old) προφητῶν (prophets) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

¹⁶ Ὁ (The) νόμος (law) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets were) μέχρι (until) Ἰωάννου (John); ἀπὸ (from) τότε (that time) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εὐαγγελίζεται (is proclaimed), καὶ (and) πᾶς (everyone) εἰς (into) αὐτὴν (it) βιάζεται (forces his way).

¹⁸ ὁ (-) δὲ (But) Θεὸς (God) ἃ (what) προκατήγγειλεν (He foretold) διὰ (by) στόματος (the mouth) πάντων (of all) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (prophets), παθεῖν (that should suffer) τὸν (the) Χριστὸν (Christ) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἐπλήρωσεν (He has fulfilled) οὕτως (thus).

¹¹ Καὶ (And) ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) ἐν (to) ἑαυτῷ (himself) γενόμενος (having come), εἶπεν (said), “Νῦν (Now) οἶδα (I know) ἀληθῶς (truly) ὅτι (that) ἐξαπέστειλεν (has sent forth) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) τὸν (the) ἄγγελον (angel) αὐτοῦ (of Him) καὶ (and) ἐξείλατό (delivered) με (me) ἐκ (out of) χειρὸς (the hand) Ἡρῴδου (of Herod) καὶ (and) πάσης (all) τῆς (the) προσδοκίας (expectation) τοῦ (of the) λαοῦ (people) τῶν (of the) Ἰουδαίων (Jews).”

² ὃ (which) προεπηγγείλατο (He promised beforehand) διὰ (through) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (prophets) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) γραφαῖς (the Scriptures) ἁγίαις (Holy),

²⁹ Τοῦτο (This) δέ (now) φημι (I say), ἀδελφοί (brothers): ὁ (The) καιρὸς (season) συνεσταλμένος (shortened) ἐστίν (is). τὸ (-) λοιπὸν (From now on) ἵνα (that) καὶ (both) οἱ (those) ἔχοντες (having) γυναῖκας (wives), ὡς (as) μὴ (none) ἔχοντες (having) ὦσιν (should be);

³² καὶ (And) πνεύματα (spirits) προφητῶν (of prophets), προφήταις (to prophets) ὑποτάσσεται (are subject).

⁷ καὶ (and) ὑμῖν (to you) τοῖς (-) θλιβομένοις (being oppressed), ἄνεσιν (repose) μεθ’ (with) ἡμῶν (us) ἐν (at) τῇ (the) ἀποκαλύψει (revelation) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), μετ’ (with) ἀγγέλων (the angels) δυνάμεως (mighty) αὐτοῦ (of Him)

⁹ εἶτα (Furthermore) τοὺς (-) μὲν (indeed) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) ἡμῶν (of us) πατέρας (fathers) εἴχομεν (we have had) παιδευτὰς (correctors), καὶ (and) ἐνετρεπόμεθα (we respected them); οὐ (not) πολὺ (much) [δὲ] (and) μᾶλλον (more) ὑποταγησόμεθα (shall we be in subjection) τῷ (to the) Πατρὶ (Father) τῶν (-) πνευμάτων (of spirits), καὶ (and) ζήσομεν (shall live)?

¹¹ ἐραυνῶντες (inquiring) εἰς (into) τίνα (what) ἢ (or) ποῖον (what manner of) καιρὸν (time) ἐδήλου (was signifying) τὸ (the) ἐν (in) αὐτοῖς (them) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), προμαρτυρόμενον (testifying beforehand) τὰ (-) εἰς (unto) Χριστὸν (Christ's) παθήματα (sufferings) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these) δόξας (glories), ¹² οἷς (to whom) ἀπεκαλύφθη (it was revealed) ὅτι (that) οὐχ (not) ἑαυτοῖς (themselves), ὑμῖν (you) δὲ (however), διηκόνουν (they were serving) αὐτά (in those things) ἃ (which) νῦν (now) ἀνηγγέλη (have been proclaimed) ὑμῖν (to you) διὰ (by) τῶν (those) εὐαγγελισαμένων (having proclaimed the gospel to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (by) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) ἀποσταλέντι (having been sent) ἀπ’ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), εἰς (into) ἃ (which) ἐπιθυμοῦσιν (desire) ἄγγελοι (angels) παρακύψαι (to look).

²¹ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) θελήματι (by the will) ἀνθρώπου (of man) ἠνέχθη (was brought) προφητεία (prophecy) ποτέ (at any time), ἀλλὰ (but) ὑπὸ (by) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy) φερόμενοι (being carried), ἐλάλησαν (spoke) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) ἄνθρωποι (men).

² μνησθῆναι (to remember) τῶν (the) προειρημένων (having been spoken beforehand) ῥημάτων (words)— ὑπὸ (by) τῶν (the) ἁγίων (holy) προφητῶν (prophets) καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) τῶν (-) ἀποστόλων (apostles) ὑμῶν (through your)— ἐντολῆς (commandment) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) καὶ (and) Σωτῆρος (Savior),

⁸ Ἓν (This one) δὲ (however) τοῦτο (thing) μὴ (not) λανθανέτω (let be hidden from) ὑμᾶς (you), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), ὅτι (that) μία (one) ἡμέρα (day) παρὰ (with the) Κυρίῳ (Lord is) ὡς (like) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη (years), καὶ (and) χίλια (a thousand) ἔτη (years) ὡς (like) ἡμέρα (day) μία (one). ⁹ οὐ (Not) βραδύνει (does delay) Κύριος (the Lord) τῆς (the) ἐπαγγελίας (promise), ὥς (as) τινες (some) βραδύτητα (slowness) ἡγοῦνται (esteem), ἀλλὰ (but) μακροθυμεῖ (is patient) εἰς (toward) ὑμᾶς (you), μὴ (not) βουλόμενός (willing) τινας (for any) ἀπολέσθαι (to perish), ἀλλὰ (but) πάντας (all) εἰς (to) μετάνοιαν (repentance) χωρῆσαι (to come).

¹ Ἀποκάλυψις (The revelation) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ἣν (which) ἔδωκεν (gave) αὐτῷ (Him) ὁ (-) Θεός (God), δεῖξαι (to show) τοῖς (to the) δούλοις (bond-servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἃ (what things) δεῖ (it behooves) γενέσθαι (to take place) ἐν (in) τάχει (quickness). καὶ (And) ἐσήμανεν (He signified it), ἀποστείλας (having sent) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) ἀγγέλου (angel) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τῷ (to the) δούλῳ (servant) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ἰωάννῃ (John),

²⁰ “Εὐφραίνου (Rejoice) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτῇ (her), οὐρανέ (O heaven), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἅγιοι (you saints), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) ἀπόστολοι (apostles), καὶ (and) οἱ (-) προφῆται (prophets), ὅτι (because) ἔκρινεν (did judge) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) τὸ (the) κρίμα (judgment) ὑμῶν (for you) ἐξ (against) αὐτῆς (her).”

⁹ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Γράψον (Write), ‘Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τοῦ (of the) γάμου (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) κεκλημένοι (having been invited).’” καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) ἀληθινοὶ (true) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰσιν (are).”

⁵ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), καινὰ (new) ποιῶ (I make) πάντα (all things).” καὶ (And) λέγει (He says), “Γράψον (Write this), ὅτι (because) οὗτοι (these) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) πιστοὶ (faithful) καὶ (and) ἀληθινοί (true) εἰσιν (are).”

⁷ “Καὶ (And) Ἰδοὺ (behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly). μακάριος (Blessed is) ὁ (the one) τηρῶν (keeping) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this).”

³ Μακάριος (Blessed is) ὁ (the one) ἀναγινώσκων (reading), καὶ (and) οἱ (those) ἀκούοντες (hearing) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy), καὶ (and) τηροῦντες (keeping) τὰ (the things) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) γεγραμμένα (having been written); ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) καιρὸς (the time is) ἐγγύς (near).

¹¹ ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly). κράτει (Hold fast) ὃ (to what) ἔχεις (you have), ἵνα (so that) μηδεὶς (no one) λάβῃ (may take) τὸν (the) στέφανόν (crown) σου (of you).

¹⁵ “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ὡς (like) κλέπτης (a thief). μακάριος (Blessed is) ὁ (the one) γρηγορῶν (watching) καὶ (and) τηρῶν (keeping) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) γυμνὸς (naked) περιπατῇ (he should walk) καὶ (and) βλέπωσιν (they might see) τὴν (the) ἀσχημοσύνην (shame) αὐτοῦ (of him).”

⁹ καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (Fellow servant) σού (of you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (with the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you) τῶν (the) προφητῶν (prophets), καὶ (and) τῶν (with those) τηρούντων (keeping) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)!” ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Μὴ (Not) σφραγίσῃς (seal) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this); ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time) γὰρ (for) ἐγγύς (near) ἐστιν (is).

²⁰ Λέγει (Says) ὁ (the One) μαρτυρῶν (testifying) ταῦτα (these things), “Ναί (Yes), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly).” Ἀμήν (Amen). ἔρχου (Come), Κύριε (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus)!

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ἔπεσα (I fell) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) αὐτοῦ (of him) προσκυνῆσαι (to worship) αὐτῷ (him). καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Ὅρα (See that you) μή (not). σύνδουλός (A fellow servant) σού (with you) εἰμι (I am), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) ἀδελφῶν (brothers) σου (of you), τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (holding) τὴν (the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God) προσκύνησον (worship)! ἡ (The) γὰρ (for) μαρτυρία (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) ἐστιν (is) τὸ (the) πνεῦμα (spirit) τῆς (-) προφητείας (of prophecy).”

¹⁹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) στρατεύματα (armies) αὐτῶν (of them), συνηγμένα (having been gathered together) ποιῆσαι (to make) τὸν (-) πόλεμον (war) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) ἵππου (horse) καὶ (and) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) στρατεύματος (army) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁹ καὶ (and) εἶπεν (he says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ταῦτά (These things) σοι (to You) πάντα (all) δώσω (will I give), ἐὰν (if) πεσὼν (falling down), προσκυνήσῃς (You will worship) μοι (me).”

⁷ σὺ (You) οὖν (therefore), ἐὰν (if) προσκυνήσῃς (You will worship) ἐνώπιον (before) ἐμοῦ (me), ἔσται (will be) σοῦ (Yours) πᾶσα (all).”

²² ὑμεῖς (You) προσκυνεῖτε (worship) ὃ (what) οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (you know); ἡμεῖς (we) προσκυνοῦμεν (worship) ὃ (what) οἴδαμεν (we know), ὅτι (for) ἡ (-) σωτηρία (salvation) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) Ἰουδαίων (Jews) ἐστίν (is). ²³ ἀλλὰ (But) ἔρχεται (is coming) ὥρα (an hour) καὶ (and) νῦν (now) ἐστιν (is), ὅτε (when) οἱ (the) ἀληθινοὶ (true) προσκυνηταὶ (worshipers) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) τῷ (the) Πατρὶ (Father) ἐν (in) πνεύματι (spirit) καὶ (and) ἀληθείᾳ (truth); καὶ (also) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) τοιούτους (such) ζητεῖ (seeks), τοὺς (who) προσκυνοῦντας (worship) αὐτόν (Him).

¹⁸ μηδεὶς (No one) ὑμᾶς (you) καταβραβευέτω (let disqualify), θέλων (delighting) ἐν (in) ταπεινοφροσύνῃ (humility) καὶ (and) θρησκείᾳ (the worship) τῶν (of the) ἀγγέλων (angels), ἃ (which) ἑόρακεν (he has seen) ἐμβατεύων (detailing), εἰκῇ (vainly) φυσιούμενος (being puffed up) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) νοὸς (mind) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of him), ¹⁹ καὶ (and) οὐ (not) κρατῶν (holding fast) τὴν (to the) Κεφαλήν (head), ἐξ (from) οὗ (whom) πᾶν (all) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body), διὰ (by) τῶν (the) ἁφῶν (joints) καὶ (and) συνδέσμων (ligaments) ἐπιχορηγούμενον (being supplied) καὶ (and) συμβιβαζόμενον (being knit together), αὔξει (increases) τὴν (with the) αὔξησιν (increase) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

²⁰ οἴδαμεν (We know) δὲ (now) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἥκει (is come), καὶ (and) δέδωκεν (has given) ἡμῖν (us) διάνοιαν (understanding), ἵνα (so that) γινώσκωμεν* (we may know) τὸν (Him who is) ἀληθινόν (true); καὶ (and) ἐσμὲν (we are) ἐν (in) τῷ (Him who is) ἀληθινῷ (true), ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστῷ (Christ). οὗτός (He) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) ἀληθινὸς (true) Θεὸς (God) καὶ (and) ζωὴ (life) αἰώνιος (eternal).

¹⁰ πεσοῦνται (will fall) οἱ (the) εἴκοσι (twenty) τέσσαρες (four) πρεσβύτεροι (elders) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τῷ (the One) ζῶντι (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), καὶ (and) βαλοῦσιν (they will cast) τοὺς (the) στεφάνους (crowns) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγοντες (saying):

²⁰ ‹Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) τῶν (of the) ἀνθρώπων (men) οἳ (who) οὐκ (not) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (by) ταῖς (the) πληγαῖς (plagues) ταύταις (these) οὐδὲ (not even) μετενόησαν (repented) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) τῶν (of the) χειρῶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τὰ (the) δαιμόνια (demons), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) εἴδωλα (idols) τὰ (-) χρυσᾶ (golden) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἀργυρᾶ (silver) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) χαλκᾶ (bronze) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) λίθινα (stone) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ξύλινα (wooden), ἃ (which) οὔτε (neither) βλέπειν (to see) δύνανται (are able), οὔτε (nor) ἀκούειν (to hear), οὔτε (nor) περιπατεῖν› (to walk).

⁷ λέγων (saying) ἐν (in) φωνῇ (a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), “Φοβήθητε (Fear) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), καὶ (and) δότε (give) αὐτῷ (Him) δόξαν (glory), ὅτι (because) ἦλθεν (has come) ἡ (the) ὥρα (hour) τῆς (of the) κρίσεως (judgment) αὐτοῦ (of Him). καὶ (And) προσκυνήσατε (worship) τῷ (the One) ποιήσαντι (having made) τὸν (-) οὐρανὸν (heaven), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth), καὶ (and) θάλασσαν (sea), καὶ (and) πηγὰς (springs) ὑδάτων (of waters).”

⁴ τίς (Who) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) φοβηθῇ (should fear You), Κύριε (O Lord), καὶ (and) δοξάσει (will glorify) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You)? ὅτι (For You) μόνος (alone are) ὅσιος (holy). ὅτι (For) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ἥξουσιν (will come) καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) ἐνώπιόν (before) σου (You), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) δικαιώματά (righteous acts) σου (of You) ἐφανερώθησαν (have been revealed).”

¹⁰ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Μὴ (Not) σφραγίσῃς (seal) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this); ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time) γὰρ (for) ἐγγύς (near) ἐστιν (is).

¹⁸ Μαρτυρῶ (Testify) ἐγὼ (I) παντὶ (to everyone) τῷ (-) ἀκούοντι (hearing) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) τῆς (of the) προφητείας (prophecy) τοῦ (of the) βιβλίου (book) τούτου (this): ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἐπιθῇ (should add) ἐπ’ (to) αὐτά (these things), ἐπιθήσει (will add) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐπ’ (unto) αὐτὸν (him) τὰς (the) πληγὰς (plagues) τὰς (-) γεγραμμένας (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τούτῳ (this).

²⁷ ὃ (What) λέγω (I tell) ὑμῖν (you) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) σκοτίᾳ (darkness), εἴπατε (speak) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) φωτί (light); καὶ (and) ὃ (what) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) οὖς (ear) ἀκούετε (you hear), κηρύξατε (proclaim) ἐπὶ (upon) τῶν (the) δωμάτων (housetops)!

¹² ἡ (The) νὺξ (night) προέκοψεν (is nearly over), ἡ (-) δὲ (and) ἡμέρα (the day) ἤγγικεν (has drawn near). ἀποθώμεθα (We should cast off) οὖν (therefore) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τοῦ (-) σκότους (of darkness); ἐνδυσώμεθα (we should put on) δὲ (now) τὰ (the) ὅπλα (armor) τοῦ (-) φωτός (of light).

³ μή (No) τις (one) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐξαπατήσῃ (should deceive) κατὰ (in) μηδένα (not one) τρόπον (way), ὅτι (because it is) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not until) ἔλθῃ (shall have come) ἡ (the) ἀποστασία (apostasy) πρῶτον (first), καὶ (and) ἀποκαλυφθῇ (shall have been revealed) ὁ (the) ἄνθρωπος (man) τῆς (-) ἀνομίας (of lawlessness), ὁ (the) υἱὸς (son) τῆς (-) ἀπωλείας (of destruction),

⁷ Πάντων (Of all) δὲ (now) τὸ (the) τέλος (end) ἤγγικεν (has drawn near). σωφρονήσατε (Be clear-minded) οὖν (therefore), καὶ (and) νήψατε (sober) εἰς (for the purpose of) προσευχάς (prayers),

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) δεξιὰν (right hand) τοῦ (of the One) καθημένου (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) βιβλίον (a scroll), γεγραμμένον (having been written) ἔσωθεν (inside) καὶ (and) ὄπισθεν (on the back), κατεσφραγισμένον (having been sealed) σφραγῖσιν (with seals) ἑπτά (seven).

⁴ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἐλάλησαν (had spoken) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) βρονταί (thunders), ἤμελλον (I was about) γράφειν (to write). καὶ (But) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνὴν (a voice) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λέγουσαν (saying), “Σφράγισον (Seal) ἃ (what) ἐλάλησαν (have spoken) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) βρονταί (thunders), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) αὐτὰ (them) γράψῃς (write).”

¹² “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ταχύ (quickly), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) μισθός (reward) μου (of Me) μετ’ (is with) ἐμοῦ (Me), ἀποδοῦναι (to give) ἑκάστῳ (to each) ὡς (as) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) ἐστὶν (is) αὐτοῦ (his). ¹³ ἐγὼ (I am) τὸ (the) Ἄλφα (Alpha) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ὦ (Omega), ὁ (the) πρῶτος (First) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἔσχατος (Last), ἡ (the) ἀρχὴ (Beginning) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) τέλος (End).”

¹⁶ “Ἐγὼ (I), Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ἔπεμψα (have sent) τὸν (the) ἄγγελόν (angel) μου (of Me) μαρτυρῆσαι (to testify) ὑμῖν (to you) ταῦτα (these things) ἐπὶ (in) ταῖς (the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) ῥίζα (root) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) γένος (offspring) Δαυίδ (of David), ὁ (the) ἀστὴρ (star) ὁ (-) λαμπρός (bright) ὁ (-) πρωϊνός (morning).”

⁶ Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πεινῶντες (hungering) καὶ (and) διψῶντες (thirsting for) τὴν (-) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness); Ὅτι (for) αὐτοὶ (they) χορτασθήσονται (will be filled).

¹⁴ ἄφετε (Leave) αὐτούς (them)! τυφλοί (Blind) εἰσιν (they are) ὁδηγοί (guides) τυφλῶν (of the blind). τυφλὸς (Blind) δὲ (now) τυφλὸν (blind) ἐὰν (if) ὁδηγῇ (they lead), ἀμφότεροι (both) εἰς (into) βόθυνον (a pit) πεσοῦνται (will fall).”

¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἰδὼν (having seen) συκῆν (fig tree) μίαν (one) ἐπὶ (along) τῆς (the) ὁδοῦ (road), ἦλθεν (He came) ἐπ’ (to) αὐτήν (it) καὶ (and) οὐδὲν (nothing) εὗρεν (found) ἐν (on) αὐτῇ (it), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) φύλλα (leaves) μόνον (only). καὶ (And) λέγει (He says) αὐτῇ (to it), “〈Οὐ〉 (Never) μηκέτι (no more) ἐκ (from) σοῦ (you) καρπὸς (fruit) γένηται (let there be), εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age).” καὶ (And) ἐξηράνθη (withered) παραχρῆμα (immediately) ἡ (the) συκῆ (fig tree).

¹⁰ Ἀπερχομένων (While are going away) δὲ (then) αὐτῶν (they) ἀγοράσαι (to buy), ἦλθεν (came) ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom), καὶ (and) αἱ (those) ἕτοιμοι (ready) εἰσῆλθον (went in) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) γάμους (wedding feast); καὶ (and) ἐκλείσθη (was shut) ἡ (the) θύρα (door).

²¹ Εἶπεν (He said) οὖν (then) πάλιν (again) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἐγὼ (I) ὑπάγω (am going away) καὶ (and) ζητήσετέ (you will seek) με (Me), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἁμαρτίᾳ (sin) ὑμῶν (of you), ἀποθανεῖσθε (you will die); ὅπου (where) ἐγὼ (I) ὑπάγω (go), ὑμεῖς (you) οὐ (not) δύνασθε (are able) ἐλθεῖν (to come).”

²⁷ ἵνα (so that) παραστήσῃ (might present) αὐτὸς (He) ἑαυτῷ (to Himself) ἔνδοξον (in glory) τὴν (the) ἐκκλησίαν (church), μὴ (not) ἔχουσαν (having) σπίλον (spot) ἢ (or) ῥυτίδα (wrinkle) ἤ (or) τι (any) τῶν (of the) τοιούτων (such things), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) ᾖ (it would be) ἁγία (holy) καὶ (and) ἄμωμος (blameless).

²² νυνὶ (now) δὲ (however) ἀποκατήλλαξεν (He has reconciled You) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) σώματι (body) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of Him) διὰ (through) τοῦ (-) θανάτου (death), παραστῆσαι (to present) ὑμᾶς (you) ἁγίους (holy) καὶ (and) ἀμώμους (unblemished) καὶ (and) ἀνεγκλήτους (blameless) κατενώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (Him),

¹³ πονηροὶ (Evil) δὲ (however) ἄνθρωποι (men) καὶ (and) γόητες (imposters) προκόψουσιν (will advance) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (-) χεῖρον (worse), πλανῶντες (deceiving) καὶ (and) πλανώμενοι (being deceived).

²⁴ Τῷ (To Him) δὲ (now) δυναμένῳ (being able) φυλάξαι (to keep) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀπταίστους (from stumbling) καὶ (and) στῆσαι (to present you) κατενώπιον (in the presence of) τῆς (the) δόξης (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἀμώμους (blameless) ἐν (with) ἀγαλλιάσει (exultation) —

¹³ Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), λέγων (saying) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) περιβεβλημένοι (having been clothed with) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) τὰς (-) λευκὰς (white), τίνες (who) εἰσὶν (are they), καὶ (and) πόθεν (from where) ἦλθον (have they come)?” ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb). ¹⁵ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτό (this), ‘Εἰσιν (They are) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) λατρεύουσιν (serve) αὐτῷ (Him) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ναῷ (temple) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) ὁ (the One) καθήμενος (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) σκηνώσει (will tabernacle) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτούς (them).

⁸ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τέταρτος (fourth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) καυματίσαι (to scorch) τοὺς (-) ἀνθρώπους (men) ἐν (with) πυρί (fire). ⁹ καὶ (And) ἐκαυματίσθησαν (were scorched) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) καῦμα (with heat) μέγα (great), καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ἔχοντος (having) τὴν (-) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τὰς (the) πληγὰς (plagues) ταύτας (these); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (did they repent) δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῷ (Him) δόξαν (glory). ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (became) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐσκοτωμένη (darkened), καὶ (and) ἐμασῶντο (they were gnawing) τὰς (the) γλώσσας (tongues) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐκ (for) τοῦ (the) πόνου (distress), ¹¹ καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸν (the) Θεὸν (God) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) πόνων (distresses) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) ἑλκῶν (sores) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (they did repent) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) αὐτῶν (of them).

²¹ καὶ (And) χάλαζα (a hail) μεγάλη (great), ὡς (about) ταλαντιαία (a talent weight), καταβαίνει (comes down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) ἀνθρώπους (men). καὶ (And) ἐβλασφήμησαν (blasphemed) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐκ (on account of) τῆς (the) πληγῆς (plague) τῆς (of the) χαλάζης (hail), ὅτι (for) μεγάλη (severe) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (plague) αὐτῆς (of it) σφόδρα (exceedingly).

³ Καὶ (And) πᾶν (any) κατάθεμα (curse) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (there will be) ἔτι (any longer). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) θρόνος (throne) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it) ἔσται (will be), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) δοῦλοι (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him) λατρεύσουσιν (will serve) αὐτῷ (Him).

²⁷ μέλλει (Is about) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (of the) ἀνθρώπου (man) ἔρχεσθαι (to come) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δόξῃ (glory) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father) αὐτοῦ (of Him), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) τότε (then) ἀποδώσει (He will give) ἑκάστῳ (to each) κατὰ (according to) τὴν (the) πρᾶξιν (deeds) αὐτοῦ (of him).

⁶ ὃς (who) “Ἀποδώσει (will give) ἑκάστῳ (to each), κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτοῦ (of him),” ⁷ τοῖς (to those who) μὲν (indeed) καθ’ (with) ὑπομονὴν (endurance) ἔργου (in work) ἀγαθοῦ (good), δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τιμὴν (honor) καὶ (and) ἀφθαρσίαν (immortality) ζητοῦσιν (are seeking), ζωὴν (life) αἰώνιον (eternal); ⁸ τοῖς (to those) δὲ (however) ἐξ (of) ἐριθείας (self-interest) καὶ (and) ἀπειθοῦσι (disobeying) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), πειθομένοις (being persuaded about) δὲ (however) τῇ (-) ἀδικίᾳ (unrighteousness), ὀργὴ (wrath) καὶ (and) θυμός (anger); ⁹ θλῖψις (tribulation) καὶ (and) στενοχωρία (distress) ἐπὶ (upon) πᾶσαν (every) ψυχὴν (soul) ἀνθρώπου (of man) τοῦ (-) κατεργαζομένου (working) τὸ (-) κακόν (evil), Ἰουδαίου (of Jewish) τε (both) πρῶτον (first), καὶ (and also) Ἕλληνος (of Greek); ¹⁰ δόξα (glory) δὲ (however), καὶ (and) τιμὴ (honor), καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace) παντὶ (to everyone) τῷ (-) ἐργαζομένῳ (doing) τὸ (-) ἀγαθόν (good), Ἰουδαίῳ (to Jewish) τε (both) πρῶτον (first), καὶ (and) Ἕλληνι (to Greek). ¹¹ οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (there is) προσωπολημψία (partiality) παρὰ (with) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God).

¹² Ἄρα (So) οὖν (then), ἕκαστος (each) ἡμῶν (of us) περὶ (concerning) ἑαυτοῦ (himself), λόγον (account) δώσει (will give) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God).

⁸ ὁ (The one) φυτεύων (planting) δὲ (now) καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) ποτίζων (watering), ἕν (one) εἰσιν (are); ἕκαστος (each) δὲ (now) τὸν (the) ἴδιον (own) μισθὸν (reward) λήμψεται (will receive), κατὰ (according to) τὸν (the) ἴδιον (own) κόπον (labor).

¹⁴ εἴ (If) τινος (of anyone) τὸ (the) ἔργον (work) μενεῖ (will remain) ὃ (which) ἐποικοδόμησεν (he built up), μισθὸν (a reward) λήμψεται (he will receive).

¹⁷ εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) ἑκὼν (willingly) τοῦτο (this) πράσσω (I do), μισθὸν (a reward) ἔχω (I have); εἰ (if) δὲ (however) ἄκων (unwillingly), οἰκονομίαν (a stewardship) πεπίστευμαι (I am entrusted with). ¹⁸ τίς (What) οὖν (then) μού (of me) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) μισθός (reward)? ἵνα (That) εὐαγγελιζόμενος (in preaching the gospel) ἀδάπανον (free of charge), θήσω (I should offer) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel), εἰς (so as) τὸ (-) μὴ (not) καταχρήσασθαι (to use up) τῇ (the) ἐξουσίᾳ (right) μου (of me) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) εὐαγγελίῳ (gospel).

¹⁸ καὶ (And) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) ὠργίσθησαν (were enraged), καὶ (and) ἦλθεν (came) ἡ (the) ὀργή (wrath) σου (of You), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) καιρὸς (time) τῶν (for the) νεκρῶν (dead) κριθῆναι (to be judged), καὶ (and) δοῦναι (to give) τὸν (the) μισθὸν (reward) τοῖς (to the) δούλοις (servants) σου (of You), τοῖς (the) προφήταις (prophets), καὶ (and) τοῖς (to the) ἁγίοις (saints), καὶ (and) τοῖς (to those) φοβουμένοις (fearing) τὸ (the) ὄνομά (name) σου (of You), τοὺς* (the) μικροὺς* (small) καὶ (and) τοὺς* (the) μεγάλους* (great), καὶ (and) διαφθεῖραι (to destroy) τοὺς (those who) διαφθείροντας (are destroying) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth).”

¹² καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τοὺς (the) νεκρούς (dead), τοὺς (-) μεγάλους (great) καὶ (and) τοὺς (-) μικρούς (small), ἑστῶτας (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) βιβλία (books) ἠνοίχθησαν (were opened). Καὶ (And) ἄλλο (another) βιβλίον (book) ἠνοίχθη (was opened), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) τῆς (the one) ζωῆς (of life). καὶ (And) ἐκρίθησαν (were judged) οἱ (the) νεκροὶ (dead) ἐκ (out of) τῶν (the things) γεγραμμένων (having been written) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) βιβλίοις (books), κατὰ (according to) τὰ (the) ἔργα (deeds) αὐτῶν (of them).

⁸ “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) τὸ (the) Ἄλφα (Alpha) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ὦ (Omega),” λέγει (says) Κύριος (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being), καὶ (and) ὁ (who) ἦν (was), καὶ (and) ὁ (who) ἐρχόμενος (is coming), ὁ (the) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty).

¹¹ λεγούσης (saying), “Ὃ (What) βλέπεις (you see), γράψον (write) εἰς (in) βιβλίον (a book), καὶ (and) πέμψον (send) ταῖς (to the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἐκκλησίαις (churches), εἰς (to) Ἔφεσον (Ephesus), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Σμύρναν (Smyrna), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Πέργαμον (Pergamum), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Θυάτειρα (Thyatira), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Σάρδεις (Sardis), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Φιλαδέλφειαν (Philadelphia), καὶ (and) εἰς (to) Λαοδίκειαν (Laodicea).”

¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) εἶδον (I saw) αὐτόν (Him), ἔπεσα (I fell) πρὸς (at) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (as though) νεκρός (dead). καὶ (And) ἔθηκεν (He placed) τὴν (the) δεξιὰν (right hand) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐπ’ (upon) ἐμὲ (me), λέγων (saying), “Μὴ (Not) φοβοῦ (fear). ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ὁ (the) πρῶτος (First) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ἔσχατος (Last),

²¹ Οὐ (Not) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) λέγων (saying) μοι (to Me), ‘Κύριε (Lord), Κύριε (Lord),’ εἰσελεύσεται (will enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens), ἀλλ’ (but) ὁ (the one) ποιῶν (doing) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me), τοῦ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens). ²² πολλοὶ (Many) ἐροῦσίν (will say) μοι (to Me) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day), ‘Κύριε (Lord), Κύριε (Lord), οὐ (not) τῷ (in) σῷ (Your) ὀνόματι (name) ἐπροφητεύσαμεν (did we prophesy), καὶ (and) τῷ (in) σῷ (Your) ὀνόματι (name) δαιμόνια (demons) ἐξεβάλομεν (cast out), καὶ (and) τῷ (in) σῷ (your) ὀνόματι (name) δυνάμεις (miracles) πολλὰς (many) ἐποιήσαμεν (perform)?’ ²³ καὶ (And) τότε (then) ὁμολογήσω (I will declare) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὅτι (-), ‘Οὐδέποτε (Never) ἔγνων (knew I) ὑμᾶς (you); ἀποχωρεῖτε (depart you) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me), οἱ (those) ἐργαζόμενοι (working) τὴν (-) ἀνομίαν (lawlessness).’ ²⁴ Πᾶς (Everyone) οὖν (therefore), ὅστις (whoever) ἀκούει (hears) μου (My) τοὺς (-) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), καὶ (and) ποιεῖ (does) αὐτούς (them), ὁμοιωθήσεται (will be like) ἀνδρὶ (a man) φρονίμῳ (wise), ὅστις (who) ᾠκοδόμησεν (built) αὐτοῦ (his) τὴν (-) οἰκίαν (house) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) πέτραν (rock). ²⁵ καὶ (And) κατέβη (came down) ἡ (the) βροχὴ (rain), καὶ (and) ἦλθον (came) οἱ (the) ποταμοὶ (torrents), καὶ (and) ἔπνευσαν (blew) οἱ (the) ἄνεμοι (winds), καὶ (and) προσέπεσαν (beat) τῇ (that) οἰκίᾳ (house) ἐκείνῃ (upon); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔπεσεν (it fell), τεθεμελίωτο (it had been founded) γὰρ (for) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) πέτραν (rock). ²⁶ καὶ (And) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ἀκούων (hearing) μου (My) τοὺς (-) λόγους (words) τούτους (these), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ποιῶν (doing) αὐτοὺς (them), ὁμοιωθήσεται (he will be likened) ἀνδρὶ (to a man) μωρῷ (foolish), ὅστις (who) ᾠκοδόμησεν (built) αὐτοῦ (of him) τὴν (the) οἰκίαν (house) ἐπὶ (upon) τὴν (the) ἄμμον (sand). ²⁷ καὶ (And) κατέβη (came down) ἡ (the) βροχὴ (rain), καὶ (and) ἦλθον (came) οἱ (the) ποταμοὶ (torrents), καὶ (and) ἔπνευσαν (blew) οἱ (the) ἄνεμοι (winds), καὶ (and) προσέκοψαν (beat) τῇ (that) οἰκίᾳ (house) ἐκείνῃ (upon), καὶ (and) ἔπεσεν (it fell)— καὶ (and) ἦν (was) ἡ (the) πτῶσις (fall) αὐτῆς (of it) μεγάλη (great).”

³⁷ μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (the) δοῦλοι (servants) ἐκεῖνοι (those), οὓς (whom) ἐλθὼν (having come), ὁ (the) κύριος (master) εὑρήσει (will find) γρηγοροῦντας (watching). ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) περιζώσεται (he will gird himself) καὶ (and) ἀνακλινεῖ (will make recline) αὐτοὺς (them), καὶ (and) παρελθὼν (having come up), διακονήσει (will serve) αὐτοῖς (them). ³⁸ κἂν (And if) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) δευτέρᾳ (second) κἂν (and if) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) τρίτῃ (third) φυλακῇ (watch) ἔλθῃ (he comes) καὶ (and) εὕρῃ (finds them) οὕτως (thus), μακάριοί (blessed) εἰσιν (are) ἐκεῖνοι (those)!

¹² μὴ (Not) σὺ (You) μείζων (greater than) εἶ (are) τοῦ (the) πατρὸς (father) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰακώβ (Jacob), ὃς (who) ἔδωκεν (gave) ἡμῖν (us) τὸ (the) φρέαρ (well), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (himself) ἐξ (of) αὐτοῦ (it) ἔπιεν (drank), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) υἱοὶ (sons) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) θρέμματα (livestock) αὐτοῦ (of him)?”

⁷ Εἶπεν (Said) οὖν (therefore) πάλιν (again) ‹αὐτοῖς› (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἀμὴν (Truly), ἀμὴν (truly), λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (-), ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) θύρα (door) τῶν (of the) προβάτων (sheep).

⁹ ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) θύρα (door); δι’ (by) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) εἰσέλθῃ (enters in), σωθήσεται (he will be saved), καὶ (and) εἰσελεύσεται (he will go in) καὶ (and) ἐξελεύσεται (will go out), καὶ (and) νομὴν (pasture) εὑρήσει (will find).

⁶ Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ‹ὁ› (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἀλήθεια (truth), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ζωή (life). οὐδεὶς (No one) ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) δι’ (by) ἐμοῦ (Me).

¹⁵ Ἐὰν (If) ἀγαπᾶτέ (you love) με (Me), τὰς (-) ἐντολὰς (commandments) τὰς (-) ἐμὰς (My) τηρήσετε (you will keep).

²¹ ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) τὰς (the) ἐντολάς (commandments) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) τηρῶν (keeping) αὐτὰς (them), ἐκεῖνός (he) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the one) ἀγαπῶν (loving) με (Me); ὁ (the one) δὲ (now) ἀγαπῶν (loving) με (Me), ἀγαπηθήσεται (will be loved) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me); κἀγὼ (and I) ἀγαπήσω (will love) αὐτὸν (him) καὶ (and) ἐμφανίσω (will show) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐμαυτόν (Myself).” ²² Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) Ἰούδας (Judas), οὐχ (not) ὁ (-) Ἰσκαριώτης (Iscariot), “Κύριε (Lord), καὶ (then) τί (what) γέγονεν (has occurred) ὅτι (that) ἡμῖν (to us) μέλλεις (You are about) ἐμφανίζειν (to manifest) σεαυτὸν (Yourself), καὶ (and) οὐχὶ (not) τῷ (to the) κόσμῳ (world)?” ²³ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἀγαπᾷ (loves) με (Me), τὸν (the) λόγον (word) μου (of Me) τηρήσει (he will keep), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) μου (of Me) ἀγαπήσει (will love) αὐτόν (him), καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ἐλευσόμεθα (we will come), καὶ (and) μονὴν (a home) παρ’ (with) αὐτῷ (him) ποιησόμεθα (will make).

¹⁰ ἐὰν (If) τὰς (the) ἐντολάς (commandments) μου (of Me) τηρήσητε (you keep), μενεῖτε (you will abide) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀγάπῃ (love) μου (of Me), καθὼς (as) ἐγὼ (I), «τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου» (of Me) «τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς» (commandments) τετήρηκα (have kept), καὶ (and) μένω (I abide) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀγάπῃ (love). ¹¹ Ταῦτα (These things) λελάληκα (I have spoken) ὑμῖν (to you), ἵνα (that) ἡ (-) χαρὰ (joy) ἡ (-) ἐμὴ (My) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you) ᾖ (may be), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ὑμῶν (of you) πληρωθῇ (may be full). ¹² Αὕτη (This) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (-) ἐντολὴ (commandment) ἡ (-) ἐμὴ (My), ἵνα (that) ἀγαπᾶτε (you love) ἀλλήλους (one another) καθὼς (as) ἠγάπησα (I loved) ὑμᾶς (you). ¹³ μείζονα (Greater) ταύτης (than this) ἀγάπην (love) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἔχει (has), ἵνα (that) τις (one) τὴν (the) ψυχὴν (life) αὐτοῦ (of him) θῇ (should lay down) ὑπὲρ (for) τῶν (the) φίλων (friends) αὐτοῦ (of him). ¹⁴ Ὑμεῖς (You) φίλοι (friends) μού (of Me) ἐστε (are) ἐὰν (if) ποιῆτε (you do) ἃ* (what) ἐγὼ (I) ἐντέλλομαι (command) ὑμῖν (you).

¹⁹ ἡ (-) περιτομὴ (Circumcision) οὐδέν (nothing) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) ἀκροβυστία (uncircumcision) οὐδέν (nothing) ἐστιν (is), ἀλλὰ (but) τήρησις (keeping) ἐντολῶν (the commandments) Θεοῦ (of God).

⁹ Βλέπετε (Be careful) δὲ (however), μή (lest) πως (somehow) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (right) ὑμῶν (of you) αὕτη (this) πρόσκομμα (an occasion of stumbling) γένηται (becomes) τοῖς (to those) ἀσθενέσιν (being weak).

⁵ μὴ (No) οὐκ (not) ἔχομεν (have we) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἀδελφὴν (a sister), γυναῖκα (a wife), περιάγειν (to take about), ὡς (as) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (other) ἀπόστολοι (apostles), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀδελφοὶ (brothers) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), καὶ (and) Κηφᾶς (Cephas)?

⁶ ἐν (In) γὰρ (for) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), οὔτε (neither) περιτομή (circumcision) τι (any) ἰσχύει (has power), οὔτε (nor) ἀκροβυστία (uncircumcision); ἀλλὰ (but only) πίστις (faith) δι’ (through) ἀγάπης (love) ἐνεργουμένη (working).

³ καὶ (And) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) ἐλπίδα (hope) ταύτην (this) ἐπ’ (in) αὐτῷ (Him), ἁγνίζει (purifies) ἑαυτὸν (himself), καθὼς (just as) ἐκεῖνος (He) ἁγνός (pure) ἐστιν (is).

²³ καὶ (And) αὕτη (this) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) ἐντολὴ (commandment) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἵνα (that) πιστεύσωμεν (we should believe) τῷ (in the) ὀνόματι (name) τοῦ (the) Υἱοῦ (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him), Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), καὶ (and) ἀγαπῶμεν (we should love) ἀλλήλους (one another), καθὼς (just as) ἔδωκεν (He gave) ἐντολὴν (the commandment) ἡμῖν (to us). ²⁴ καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) τηρῶν (keeping) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (Him) μένει (abides), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (him). καὶ (And) ἐν (by) τούτῳ (this) γινώσκομεν (we know) ὅτι (that) μένει (He abides) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (us), ἐκ (by) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) οὗ (whom) ἡμῖν (to us) ἔδωκεν (He has given).

³ αὕτη (This) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (that) τὰς (the) ἐντολὰς (commandments) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τηρῶμεν (we should keep); καὶ (and) αἱ (the) ἐντολαὶ (commandments) αὐτοῦ (of Him) βαρεῖαι (burdensome) οὐκ (not) εἰσίν (are).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

¹² ἔχουσα (having) τεῖχος (a wall) μέγα (great) καὶ (and) ὑψηλόν (high), ἔχουσα (having) πυλῶνας (gates) δώδεκα (twelve), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (at) τοῖς (the) πυλῶσιν (gates) ἀγγέλους (angels) δώδεκα (twelve), καὶ (and) ὀνόματα (names) ἐπιγεγραμμένα (having been inscribed), ἅ (which) ἐστιν (are) [τὰ (the) ὀνόματα] (names) τῶν (of the) δώδεκα (twelve) φυλῶν (tribes) υἱῶν (of the sons) Ἰσραήλ (of Israel).

²⁷ καὶ (And) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εἰσέλθῃ (shall enter) εἰς (into) αὐτὴν (it) πᾶν (anything) κοινὸν (defiling), καὶ (and) ὁ (those) ποιῶν (practicing) βδέλυγμα (abomination) καὶ (and) ψεῦδος (a lie), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) οἱ (those) γεγραμμένοι (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

² ἐν (In) μέσῳ (the middle) τῆς (of the) πλατείας (street) αὐτῆς (of it) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) ποταμοῦ (river), ἐντεῦθεν (on this side) καὶ (and) ἐκεῖθεν (on that side), ξύλον (was a tree) ζωῆς (of life), ποιοῦν (producing) καρποὺς (fruits) δώδεκα (twelve), κατὰ (according to) μῆνα (month), ἕκαστον (each) ἀποδιδοῦν (yielding) τὸν (the) καρπὸν (fruit) αὐτοῦ (of it); καὶ (and) τὰ (the) φύλλα (leaves) τοῦ (of the) ξύλου (tree) εἰς (are for) θεραπείαν (the healing) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations).

¹² οἱ (the) δὲ (however) υἱοὶ (sons) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom) ἐκβληθήσονται (will be cast out), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) σκότος (darkness) τὸ (the) ἐξώτερον (outer), ἐκεῖ (there) ἔσται (will be) ὁ (the) κλαυθμὸς (weeping) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) βρυγμὸς (gnashing) τῶν (of the) ὀδόντων (teeth).”

¹⁸ ὁ (The one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (on) αὐτὸν (Him) οὐ (not) κρίνεται (is judged); ὁ (the one) ‹δὲ› (but) μὴ (not) πιστεύων (believing) ἤδη (already) κέκριται (has been judged), ὅτι (because) μὴ (not) πεπίστευκεν (he has believed) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) μονογενοῦς (only begotten) Υἱοῦ (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ¹⁹ Αὕτη (This) δέ (now) ἐστιν (is) ἡ (the) κρίσις (judgement), ὅτι (that) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light) ἐλήλυθεν (has come) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world), καὶ (and) ἠγάπησαν (loved) οἱ (-) ἄνθρωποι (men) μᾶλλον (rather) τὸ (the) σκότος (darkness) ἢ (than) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light); ἦν (were) γὰρ (for) αὐτῶν (of them) πονηρὰ (evil) τὰ (the) ἔργα (deeds). ²⁰ πᾶς (Everyone) γὰρ (for) ὁ (-) φαῦλα (evil) πράσσων (practicing) μισεῖ (hates) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ἐλεγχθῇ (may be exposed) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτοῦ (of him); ²¹ ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) ποιῶν (practicing) τὴν (the) ἀλήθειαν (truth) ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light), ἵνα (that) φανερωθῇ (may be manifest) αὐτοῦ (his) τὰ (-) ἔργα (works) ὅτι (that) ἐν (in) Θεῷ (God) ἐστιν (have been) εἰργασμένα (done).”

⁴⁶ Τίς (Which) ἐξ (of) ὑμῶν (you) ἐλέγχει (convicts) με (me) περὶ (concerning) ἁμαρτίας (sin)? εἰ (If) ἀλήθειαν (the truth) λέγω (I speak), διὰ (because of) τί (why) ὑμεῖς (you) οὐ (not) πιστεύετέ (do believe) μοι (Me)?

¹¹ προσεῖχον (They were giving heed) δὲ (now) αὐτῷ (to him), διὰ (because) τὸ (the) ἱκανῷ (long) χρόνῳ (time) ταῖς (with the) μαγείαις* (magic arts) ἐξεστακέναι (he had amazed) αὐτούς (them).

⁶ Διελθόντες (Having passed through) δὲ (now) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) νῆσον (island), ἄχρι (as far as) Πάφου (Paphos), εὗρον (they found) ἄνδρα (a man)— τινὰ (a certain) μάγον (magician), ψευδοπροφήτην (a false prophet) Ἰουδαῖον (Jewish)— ᾧ (whose) ὄνομα (name) Βαριησοῦ (was Bar-Jesus), ⁷ ὃς (who) ἦν (was) σὺν (with) τῷ (the) ἀνθυπάτῳ (proconsul) Σεργίῳ (Sergius) Παύλῳ (Paulus), ἀνδρὶ (man) συνετῷ (an intelligent). οὗτος (He) προσκαλεσάμενος (having called to him) Βαρνάβαν (Barnabas) καὶ (and) Σαῦλον (Saul), ἐπεζήτησεν (desired) ἀκοῦσαι (to hear) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁸ ἀνθίστατο (Was opposing) δὲ (however) αὐτοῖς (them) Ἐλύμας (Elymas) ὁ (the) μάγος (magician) — οὕτως (thus) γὰρ (for) μεθερμηνεύεται (means) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of him) — ζητῶν (seeking) διαστρέψαι (to turn away) τὸν (the) ἀνθύπατον (proconsul) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) πίστεως (faith). ⁹ Σαῦλος (Saul) δέ (then), ὁ (-) καὶ (also called) Παῦλος (Paul), πλησθεὶς (having been filled) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), ἀτενίσας (having looked intently) εἰς (upon) αὐτὸν (him), ¹⁰ εἶπεν (said), “Ὦ (O) πλήρης (full) παντὸς (of all) δόλου (deceit) καὶ (and) πάσης (all) ῥᾳδιουργίας (craft), υἱὲ (son) διαβόλου (of the devil), ἐχθρὲ (enemy) πάσης (of all) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness), οὐ (not) παύσῃ (will you cease) διαστρέφων (perverting) τὰς (the) ὁδοὺς (ways) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (of Lord) τὰς (-) εὐθείας (straight)? ¹¹ καὶ (And) νῦν (now) ἰδοὺ (behold), χεὶρ (the hand) Κυρίου (of the Lord) ἐπὶ (is upon) σέ (you), καὶ (and) ἔσῃ (you will be) τυφλὸς (blind), μὴ (not) βλέπων (seeing) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun) ἄχρι (during) καιροῦ (a season).” παραχρῆμα (Immediately) δὲ (then) ἔπεσεν (fell) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτὸν (him) ἀχλὺς (mist) καὶ (and) σκότος (darkness), καὶ (and) περιάγων (going about) ἐζήτει (he was seeking) χειραγωγούς (someone to lead him by the hand).

⁹ Ἢ (Or) οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (know you) ὅτι (that) ἄδικοι (the unrighteous ones) Θεοῦ (of God) βασιλείαν (the kingdom) οὐ (not) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit)? μὴ (Not) πλανᾶσθε (be deceived): οὔτε (neither) πόρνοι (the sexually immoral), οὔτε (nor) εἰδωλολάτραι (idolaters), οὔτε (nor) μοιχοὶ (adulterers), οὔτε (nor) μαλακοὶ (effeminate), οὔτε (nor) ἀρσενοκοῖται (homosexuals), ¹⁰ οὔτε (nor) κλέπται (thieves), οὔτε (nor) πλεονέκται (coveters), οὐ (not) μέθυσοι (drunkards), οὐ (nor) λοίδοροι (verbal abusers), οὐχ (nor) ἅρπαγες (swindlers), βασιλείαν (the kingdom) Θεοῦ (of God) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit).

¹⁹ Φανερὰ (Evident) δέ (now) ἐστιν (are) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τῆς (of the) σαρκός (flesh), ἅτινά (which) ἐστιν (are) πορνεία (sexual immorality), ἀκαθαρσία (impurity), ἀσέλγεια (sensuality), ²⁰ εἰδωλολατρία (idolatry), φαρμακεία (sorcery), ἔχθραι (enmities), ἔρις (strife), ζῆλος (jealousy), θυμοί (outbursts of anger), ἐριθεῖαι (contentions), διχοστασίαι (dissensions), αἱρέσεις (factions), ²¹ φθόνοι (envyings), μέθαι (drunkennesses), κῶμοι (carousing), καὶ (and) τὰ (things) ὅμοια (like) τούτοις (these), ἃ (as to which) προλέγω (I forewarn) ὑμῖν (you), καθὼς (even as) προεῖπον (I warned before), ὅτι (that) οἱ (those) τὰ (such) τοιαῦτα (things) πράσσοντες (doing), βασιλείαν (kingdom) Θεοῦ (God’s) οὐ (not) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit).

³ Πορνεία (Sexual immorality) δὲ (however), καὶ (and) ἀκαθαρσία (impurity) πᾶσα (all), ἢ (or) πλεονεξία (covetousness), μηδὲ (not even) ὀνομαζέσθω (let be named) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you), καθὼς (as also) πρέπει (is proper) ἁγίοις (to saints), ⁴ καὶ (and) αἰσχρότης (filthiness), καὶ (and) μωρολογία (foolish talking), ἢ (or) εὐτραπελία (crude joking), ἃ (which) οὐκ (not) ἀνῆκεν (are fitting); ἀλλὰ (but) μᾶλλον (rather) εὐχαριστία (thanksgiving). ⁵ τοῦτο (This) γὰρ (for) ἴστε (you know), γινώσκοντες (realizing) ὅτι (that) πᾶς (any) πόρνος (fornicator), ἢ (or) ἀκάθαρτος (unclean person), ἢ (or) πλεονέκτης (covetous man), ὅ (who) ἐστιν (is) εἰδωλολάτρης (an idolater), οὐκ (not) ἔχει (has) κληρονομίαν (inheritance) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), καὶ (and) Θεοῦ (of God). ⁶ Μηδεὶς (No one) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀπατάτω (let deceive) κενοῖς (with empty) λόγοις (words), διὰ (because of) ταῦτα (these things) γὰρ (for) ἔρχεται (comes) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) τῆς (-) ἀπειθείας (of disobedience).

² Βλέπετε (Beware of) τοὺς (the) κύνας (dogs); βλέπετε (beware of) τοὺς (the) κακοὺς (evil) ἐργάτας (workers); βλέπετε (beware of) τὴν (the) κατατομήν (false circumcision).

⁶ δι’ (because of) ἃ (which things) ἔρχεται (is coming) ἡ (the) ὀργὴ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ‹ἐπὶ (on) τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) τῆς (of) ἀπειθείας› (disobedience),

¹⁰ καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (every) ἀπάτῃ (deceit) ἀδικίας (of wickedness) τοῖς (unto those) ἀπολλυμένοις (perishing), ἀνθ’ (in return for) ὧν (which) τὴν (the) ἀγάπην (love) τῆς (of the) ἀληθείας (truth) οὐκ (not) ἐδέξαντο (they received), εἰς (in order for) τὸ (-) σωθῆναι (to be saved) αὐτούς (them). ¹¹ καὶ (And) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), πέμπει (will send) αὐτοῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐνέργειαν (a working) πλάνης (of delusion), εἰς (for) τὸ (-) πιστεῦσαι (to believe) αὐτοὺς (them) τῷ (what) ψεύδει (is false), ¹² ἵνα (in order that) κριθῶσιν (should be judged) πάντες (all) οἱ (those) μὴ (not) πιστεύσαντες (having believed) τῇ (the) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), ἀλλὰ (but) εὐδοκήσαντες (having delighted) τῇ (-) ἀδικίᾳ (in unrighteousness).

²⁰ ‹Καὶ (And) οἱ (the) λοιποὶ (rest) τῶν (of the) ἀνθρώπων (men) οἳ (who) οὐκ (not) ἀπεκτάνθησαν (were killed) ἐν (by) ταῖς (the) πληγαῖς (plagues) ταύταις (these) οὐδὲ (not even) μετενόησαν (repented) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) τῶν (of the) χειρῶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) προσκυνήσουσιν (they will worship) τὰ (the) δαιμόνια (demons), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) εἴδωλα (idols) τὰ (-) χρυσᾶ (golden) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ἀργυρᾶ (silver) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) χαλκᾶ (bronze) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) λίθινα (stone) καὶ (and) τὰ (-) ξύλινα (wooden), ἃ (which) οὔτε (neither) βλέπειν (to see) δύνανται (are able), οὔτε (nor) ἀκούειν (to hear), οὔτε (nor) περιπατεῖν› (to walk). ²¹ καὶ (And) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (they repented) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) φόνων (murders) αὐτῶν (of them), οὔτε (nor) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) φαρμάκων (sorceries) αὐτῶν (of them), οὔτε (nor) ἐκ (of) τῆς (the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῶν (of them), οὔτε (nor) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) κλεμμάτων (thefts) αὐτῶν (of them).

¹ Καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (came) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλων (angels) τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls), καὶ (and) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Δεῦρο (Come here), δείξω (I will show) σοι (you) τὸ (the) κρίμα (punishment) τῆς (of the) πόρνης (prostitute) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), τῆς (the one) καθημένης (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) ὑδάτων (waters) πολλῶν (many), ² μεθ’ (with) ἧς (whom) ἐπόρνευσαν (have committed sexual immorality) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐμεθύσθησαν (have been made drunk) οἱ (those that) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) τὴν (on the) γῆν (earth) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τῆς (of the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her).” ³ Καὶ (And) ἀπήνεγκέν (he carried away) με (me) εἰς (into) ἔρημον (a wilderness) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit), καὶ (and) εἶδον (I saw) γυναῖκα (a woman) καθημένην (sitting) ἐπὶ (upon) θηρίον (a beast) κόκκινον (scarlet), γέμοντα (being full) ὀνόματα (of names) βλασφημίας (of blasphemy), ἔχων (having) κεφαλὰς (heads) ἑπτὰ (seven) καὶ (and) κέρατα (horns) δέκα (ten). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) γυνὴ (woman) ἦν (was) περιβεβλημένη (clothed in) πορφυροῦν (purple) καὶ (and) κόκκινον (scarlet), καὶ (and) κεχρυσωμένη (adorned) χρυσίῳ (with gold) καὶ (and) λίθῳ (stone) τιμίῳ (precious) καὶ (and) μαργαρίταις (pearls), ἔχουσα (holding) ποτήριον (a cup) χρυσοῦν (golden) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) χειρὶ (hand) αὐτῆς (of her), γέμον (being full) βδελυγμάτων (of abominations) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) ἀκάθαρτα (impurity) τῆς (of the) πορνείας (sexual immorality) αὐτῆς (of her). ⁵ καὶ (And) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸ (the) μέτωπον (forehead) αὐτῆς (of her) ὄνομα (a name) γεγραμμένον (was written), μυστήριον (a mystery): ΒΑΒΥΛΩΝ (Babylon) Ο* (the) ΜΕΓΑΛΗ (Great), Ο* (the) ΜΗΤΗΡ (mother) ΤΩΝ (of the) ΠΟΡΝΩΝ (prostitutes), ΚΑΙ (and) ΤΩΝ (of the) ΒΔΕΛΥΓΜΑΤΩΝ (abominations) ΤΗΣ (of the) ΓΗΣ (earth). ⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (woman) μεθύουσαν (being drunk) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints), καὶ (and) ἐκ (with) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) τῶν (of the) μαρτύρων (witnesses) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus). Καὶ (And) ἐθαύμασα (I marveled), ἰδὼν (having seen) αὐτὴν (her), θαῦμα (with wonder) μέγα (great).

⁸ Τοῖς (-) δὲ (But) δειλοῖς (to the cowardly) καὶ (and) ἀπίστοις (unbelieving) καὶ (and) ἐβδελυγμένοις (having become abominable) καὶ (and) φονεῦσιν (murderers) καὶ (and) πόρνοις (the sexually immoral) καὶ (and) φαρμάκοις (sorcerers) καὶ (and) εἰδωλολάτραις (idolaters) καὶ (and) πᾶσιν (all) τοῖς (-) ψευδέσιν (liars), τὸ (the) μέρος (portion) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐν (is in) τῇ (the) λίμνῃ (lake) τῇ (-) καιομένῃ (burning) πυρὶ (with fire) καὶ (and) θείῳ (brimstone), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) θάνατος (death) ὁ (-) δεύτερος (second).”

⁴⁵ Εἰ (If) οὖν (therefore) Δαυὶδ (David) καλεῖ (calls) αὐτὸν (Him) Κύριον (Lord), πῶς (how) υἱὸς (son) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐστιν (is He)?”

⁷⁸ διὰ (through) σπλάγχνα (the affections) ἐλέους (of compassion) Θεοῦ (of God) ἡμῶν (of us), ἐν (in) οἷς (which) ἐπισκέψεται (will visit) ἡμᾶς (us) ἀνατολὴ (the Sunrise) ἐξ (from) ὕψους (on high),

Τῷ (The one) νικῶντι (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) τοῦ (the) μάννα (manna) τοῦ (-) κεκρυμμένου (having been hidden); καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ψῆφον (stone) λευκήν (white), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) ψῆφον (stone) ὄνομα (a name) καινὸν (new) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (has known), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) λαμβάνων (receiving it).

²⁸ καὶ (And) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) τὸν (the) ἀστέρα (star) τὸν (-) πρωϊνόν (morning). ²⁹ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches).

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) λόγοι (words) πιστοὶ (are faithful) καὶ (and) ἀληθινοί (true). καὶ (And) ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord), ὁ (the) Θεὸς (God) τῶν (of the) πνευμάτων (spirits) τῶν (of the) προφητῶν (prophets), ἀπέστειλεν (sent) τὸν (the) ἄγγελον (angel) αὐτοῦ (of Him), δεῖξαι (to show) τοῖς (the) δούλοις (servants) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἃ (the things that) δεῖ (must) γενέσθαι (come to pass) ἐν (in) τάχει (quickness).”

³⁹ Λέγει (He says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἔρχεσθε (Come) καὶ (and) ὄψεσθε (you will see).” ἦλθαν (They went) οὖν (therefore) καὶ (and) εἶδαν (saw) ποῦ (where) μένει (He abides); καὶ (and) παρ’ (with) αὐτῷ (Him) ἔμειναν (they stayed) τὴν (the) ἡμέραν (day) ἐκείνην (that). ὥρα (The hour) ἦν (was) ὡς (about) δεκάτη (the tenth). ⁴⁰ Ἦν (Was) Ἀνδρέας (Andrew), ὁ (the) ἀδελφὸς (brother) Σίμωνος (of Simon) Πέτρου (Peter), εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) δύο (two) τῶν (-) ἀκουσάντων (having heard) παρὰ (from) Ἰωάννου (John), καὶ (and) ἀκολουθησάντων (having followed) αὐτῷ (Him). ⁴¹ εὑρίσκει (Finds) οὗτος (he) πρῶτον (first) τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) τὸν (-) ἴδιον (own) Σίμωνα (Simon), καὶ (and) λέγει (he says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Εὑρήκαμεν (We have found) τὸν (the) Μεσσίαν (Messiah),”— ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) μεθερμηνευόμενον (translated) Χριστός (Christ). ⁴² ἤγαγεν (He led) αὐτὸν (him) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus). ἐμβλέψας (Having looked at) αὐτῷ (him), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Σὺ (You) εἶ (are) Σίμων (Simon) ὁ (the) υἱὸς (son) Ἰωάννου (of John); σὺ (You) κληθήσῃ (will be called) Κηφᾶς (Cephas)”— ὃ (which) ἑρμηνεύεται (means) Πέτρος (Peter). ⁴³ Τῇ (On the) ἐπαύριον (next day) ἠθέλησεν (He desired) ἐξελθεῖν (to go forth) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) Γαλιλαίαν (Galilee). καὶ (And) εὑρίσκει (He finds) Φίλιππον (Philip). καὶ (And) λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Ἀκολούθει (Follow) μοι (Me).” ⁴⁴ ἦν (Was) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Φίλιππος (Philip) ἀπὸ (from) Βηθσαϊδά (Bethsaida), ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city) Ἀνδρέου (of Andrew) καὶ (and) Πέτρου (Peter). ⁴⁵ Εὑρίσκει (Finds) Φίλιππος (Philip) τὸν (-) Ναθαναὴλ (Nathanael) καὶ (and) λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ὃν (Him whom) ἔγραψεν (wrote of) Μωϋσῆς (Moses) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νόμῳ (Law), καὶ (also) οἱ (the) προφῆται (prophets), εὑρήκαμεν (we have found), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) υἱὸν (son) τοῦ (-) Ἰωσὴφ (of Joseph), τὸν (-) ἀπὸ (of) Ναζαρέτ (Nazareth).” ⁴⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him) Ναθαναήλ (Nathanael), “Ἐκ (Out of) Ναζαρὲτ (Nazareth) δύναταί (is able) τι (any) ἀγαθὸν (good thing) εἶναι (to be)?” Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Φίλιππος (Philip), “Ἔρχου (Come) καὶ (and) ἴδε (see).”

¹⁰ Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῇ (to her), “Εἰ (If) ᾔδεις (you had known) τὴν (the) δωρεὰν (gift) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) τίς (who) ἐστιν (it is) ὁ (-) λέγων (saying) σοι (to you), ‘Δός (Give) μοι (Me) πεῖν (to drink),’ σὺ (you) ἂν (-) ᾔτησας (would have asked) αὐτὸν (Him), καὶ (and) ἔδωκεν (He would have given) ἄν (-) σοι (to you) ὕδωρ (water) ζῶν (living).”

²⁹ “Δεῦτε (Come), ἴδετε (see) ἄνθρωπον (a man) ὃς (who) εἶπέν (told) μοι (me) πάντα (all things) ὅσα* (whatever) ἐποίησα (I did). μήτι (Can it be that) οὗτός (this) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ)?”

³⁷ Ἐν (In) δὲ (now) τῇ (the) ἐσχάτῃ (last) ἡμέρᾳ (day), τῇ (the) μεγάλῃ (great day) τῆς (of the) ἑορτῆς (feast), εἱστήκει (stood) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) ἔκραξεν (cried out), λέγων (saying), “Ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) διψᾷ (thirsts), ἐρχέσθω (let him come) πρός (to) με (Me) καὶ (and) πινέτω (drink).

²⁴ δικαιούμενοι (being justified) δωρεὰν (freely) τῇ (by the) αὐτοῦ (of Him) χάριτι (grace) διὰ (through) τῆς (the) ἀπολυτρώσεως (redemption) τῆς (that) ἐν (is in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus),

⁵ ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) ἡμῶν (of us) οὐκ (not) ἐγενήθη (came) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐν (in) λόγῳ (word) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (power) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy), καὶ (and) [ἐν] (with) πληροφορίᾳ (full assurance) πολλῇ (much), καθὼς (just as) οἴδατε (you know) οἷοι (what) ἐγενήθημεν (we were) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you) δι’ (on account of) ὑμᾶς (you). ⁶ Καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you) μιμηταὶ (imitators) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐγενήθητε (became), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), δεξάμενοι (having received) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) θλίψει (tribulation) πολλῇ (much), μετὰ (with) χαρᾶς (the joy) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), ⁷ ὥστε (so as for) γενέσθαι (to became) ὑμᾶς (you) τύπον (an example) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) πιστεύουσιν (believing ones) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Μακεδονίᾳ (Macedonia) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Ἀχαΐᾳ (Achaia). ⁸ ἀφ’ (From) ὑμῶν (you) γὰρ (for) ἐξήχηται (has sounded forth) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), οὐ (not) μόνον (only) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Μακεδονίᾳ (Macedonia) καὶ (and) [ἐν (in) τῇ] (-) Ἀχαΐᾳ (Achaia), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) τόπῳ (place) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (-) πρὸς (toward) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐξελήλυθεν (has gone abroad), ὥστε (so as for) μὴ (no) χρείαν (need) ἔχειν (to have) ἡμᾶς (us) λαλεῖν (to say) τι (anything).

² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy), Ἰερουσαλὴμ (the Jerusalem) καινὴν (new), εἶδον (I saw) καταβαίνουσαν (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἡτοιμασμένην (having been prepared) ὡς (as) νύμφην (a bride) κεκοσμημένην (having been adorned) τῷ (for the) ἀνδρὶ (husband) αὐτῆς (of her).

⁹ Καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (came) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλων (angels), τῶν (-) ἐχόντων (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) τῶν (-) γεμόντων (being full) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) πληγῶν (plagues) τῶν (-) ἐσχάτων (last), καὶ (and) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (me), λέγων (saying), “Δεῦρο (Come here), δείξω (I will show) σοι (you) τὴν (the) νύμφην (bride), τὴν (the) γυναῖκα (wife) τοῦ (of the) ἀρνίου (Lamb).”

⁶ οὐ (no) μὴ (not) τιμήσει (he shall honor) τὸν (the) πατέρα (father) αὐτοῦ (of himself) 〈ἢ (or) τὴν (the) μητέρα (mother) αὐτοῦ〉 (of himself).’ καὶ (And) ἠκυρώσατε (you made void) τὸν (the) λόγον (commandment) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) διὰ (on account of) τὴν (the) παράδοσιν (tradition) ὑμῶν (of you)! ⁷ ὑποκριταί (Hypocrites)! καλῶς (Rightly) ἐπροφήτευσεν (prophesied) περὶ (concerning) ὑμῶν (you) Ἠσαΐας (Isaiah), λέγων (saying), ⁸ ‘Ὁ (The) λαὸς (people) οὗτος (this), τοῖς (with the) χείλεσίν (lips) με (Me) τιμᾷ (it honors); Ἡ (the) δὲ (however) καρδία (heart) αὐτῶν (of them), πόρρω (far away) ἀπέχει (is kept) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (Me); ⁹ Μάτην (in vain) δὲ (then) σέβονταί (they worship) με (Me), Διδάσκοντες (teaching as) διδασκαλίας (doctrines) ἐντάλματα (the precepts) ἀνθρώπων (of men).’”

¹³ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering) εἶπεν (He said), “Πᾶσα (Every) φυτεία (plant) ἣν (that) οὐκ (not) ἐφύτευσεν (has planted) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) μου (of Me) ὁ (-) οὐράνιος (Heavenly), ἐκριζωθήσεται (it will be rooted up).

¹⁷ Τοῦτο (This) οὖν (therefore) λέγω (I say) καὶ (and) μαρτύρομαι (testify) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord): μηκέτι (No longer) ὑμᾶς (are you) περιπατεῖν (to walk) καθὼς (as) καὶ (also) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) περιπατεῖ (are walking), ἐν (in) ματαιότητι (the futility) τοῦ (of the) νοὸς (mind) αὐτῶν (of them),

⁶ τὸ (-) μὴ (not) ὑπερβαίνειν (to go beyond) καὶ (and) πλεονεκτεῖν (to overreach) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) πράγματι (matter), τὸν (the) ἀδελφὸν (brother) αὐτοῦ (of him), διότι (because) ἔκδικος (avenging is) Κύριος (the Lord) περὶ (concerning) πάντων (all) τούτων (these things), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) προείπαμεν (we told before) ὑμῖν (you), καὶ (and) διεμαρτυράμεθα (thoroughly warned).

¹⁴ Καὶ (And) τῷ (to the) ἀγγέλῳ (messenger) τῆς (of the) ἐν (in) Λαοδικείᾳ (Laodicea) ἐκκλησίας (church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the) Ἀμήν (Amen), ὁ (the) μάρτυς (Witness) ὁ (-) πιστὸς (faithful) καὶ (and) ἀληθινός (true), ἡ (the) ἀρχὴ (Beginning) τῆς (of the) κτίσεως (creation) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).

¹⁰ καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (he) πίεται (will drink) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (anger) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (-) κεκερασμένου (having been mixed) ἀκράτου (undiluted) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ποτηρίῳ (cup) τῆς (of the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) βασανισθήσεται (he will be tormented) ἐν (in) πυρὶ (fire) καὶ (and) θείῳ (brimstone), ἐνώπιον (before) ἀγγέλων (the angels) ἁγίων (holy), καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb). ¹¹ καὶ (And) ὁ (the) καπνὸς (smoke) τοῦ (of the) βασανισμοῦ (torment) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰς (to) αἰῶνας (ages) αἰώνων (of ages) ἀναβαίνει (goes up); καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔχουσιν (have) ἀνάπαυσιν (rest) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτός (night) οἱ (those) προσκυνοῦντες (worshiping) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) εἰκόνα (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), καὶ (and) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) λαμβάνει (receives) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) ὀνόματος (name) αὐτοῦ (of it).”

⁶ καὶ (And) ἐξῆλθον (came forth) οἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἄγγελοι (angels) οἱ (-) ἔχοντες (having) τὰς (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) πληγὰς (plagues) ἐκ (out) τοῦ (of the) ναοῦ (temple), ἐνδεδυμένοι (having been clothed in) λίνον (linen) καθαρὸν (pure) λαμπρὸν (bright), καὶ (and) περιεζωσμένοι (having been girded with) περὶ (around) τὰ (the) στήθη (chests) ζώνας (sashes) χρυσᾶς (golden). ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἓν (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures) ἔδωκεν (gave) τοῖς (to the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλοις (angels) ἑπτὰ (seven) φιάλας (bowls) χρυσᾶς (golden) γεμούσας (full) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (wrath) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ζῶντος (living) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages). ⁸ καὶ (And) ἐγεμίσθη (was filled) ὁ (the) ναὸς (temple) καπνοῦ (with smoke) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), καὶ (and) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) δυνάμεως (power) αὐτοῦ (of Him); καὶ (and) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able) εἰσελθεῖν (to enter) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) ναὸν (temple) ἄχρι (until) τελεσθῶσιν (were completed) αἱ (the) ἑπτὰ (seven) πληγαὶ (plagues) τῶν (of the) ἑπτὰ (seven) ἀγγέλων (angels).

⁶ ὅτι (because) αἷμα (the blood) ἁγίων (of saints) καὶ (and) προφητῶν (of prophets) ἐξέχεαν (they have poured out), καὶ (and) αἷμα (blood) αὐτοῖς (to them) δέδωκας (You have given) πιεῖν* (to drink); ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are).” ⁷ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) τοῦ (the) θυσιαστηρίου (altar) λέγοντος (saying): “Ναί (Yes), Κύριε (Lord) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ἀληθιναὶ (true) καὶ (and) δίκαιαι (righteous are) αἱ (the) κρίσεις (judgments) σου (of You).” ⁸ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) τέταρτος (fourth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ἥλιον (sun), καὶ (and) ἐδόθη (there was given) αὐτῷ (to it) καυματίσαι (to scorch) τοὺς (-) ἀνθρώπους (men) ἐν (with) πυρί (fire). ⁹ καὶ (And) ἐκαυματίσθησαν (were scorched) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) καῦμα (with heat) μέγα (great), καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (the One) ἔχοντος (having) τὴν (-) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τὰς (the) πληγὰς (plagues) ταύτας (these); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (did they repent) δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῷ (Him) δόξαν (glory). ¹⁰ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) πέμπτος (fifth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐγένετο (became) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) αὐτοῦ (of it) ἐσκοτωμένη (darkened), καὶ (and) ἐμασῶντο (they were gnawing) τὰς (the) γλώσσας (tongues) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐκ (for) τοῦ (the) πόνου (distress), ¹¹ καὶ (and) ἐβλασφήμησαν (they cursed) τὸν (the) Θεὸν (God) τοῦ (of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) πόνων (distresses) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἐκ (on account of) τῶν (the) ἑλκῶν (sores) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) οὐ (not) μετενόησαν (they did repent) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) ἔργων (works) αὐτῶν (of them). ¹² Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕκτος (sixth) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ποταμὸν (river) τὸν (-) μέγαν (great) ‹τὸν› (-) Εὐφράτην (Euphrates), καὶ (and) ἐξηράνθη (was dried up) τὸ (the) ὕδωρ (water) αὐτοῦ (of it), ἵνα (so that) ἑτοιμασθῇ (might be prepared) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way) τῶν (of the) βασιλέων (kings) τῶν (-) ἀπὸ (of the) ἀνατολῆς (rising) ἡλίου (of the sun). ¹³ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw coming) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) δράκοντος (dragon), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast), καὶ (and) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (the) στόματος (mouth) τοῦ (of the) ψευδοπροφήτου (false prophet), πνεύματα (spirits) τρία (three) ἀκάθαρτα (unclean), ὡς (like) βάτραχοι (frogs); ¹⁴ εἰσὶν (they are) γὰρ (for) πνεύματα (spirits) δαιμονίων (of demons) ποιοῦντα (performing) σημεῖα (signs), ἃ (which) ἐκπορεύεται (go forth) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (battle) τῆς (of the) ἡμέρας (day) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty). ¹⁵ “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) ὡς (like) κλέπτης (a thief). μακάριος (Blessed is) ὁ (the one) γρηγορῶν (watching) καὶ (and) τηρῶν (keeping) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) γυμνὸς (naked) περιπατῇ (he should walk) καὶ (and) βλέπωσιν (they might see) τὴν (the) ἀσχημοσύνην (shame) αὐτοῦ (of him).” ¹⁶ Καὶ (And) συνήγαγεν (he gathered together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) τὸν (-) καλούμενον (called) Ἑβραϊστὶ (in Hebrew) Ἁρ¦μαγεδών (Armageddon). ¹⁷ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the) ἕβδομος (seventh) ἐξέχεεν (poured out) τὴν (the) φιάλην (bowl) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) ἀέρα (air), καὶ (and) ἐξῆλθεν (came out) φωνὴ (a voice) μεγάλη (loud) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) ναοῦ (temple) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λέγουσα (saying), “Γέγονεν (It is done)!” ¹⁸ Καὶ (And) ἐγένοντο (there were) ἀστραπαὶ (flashes of lightning), καὶ (and) φωναὶ (voices), καὶ (and) βρονταί (thunders); καὶ (and) σεισμὸς (an earthquake) ἐγένετο (there was) μέγας (great), οἷος (such as) οὐκ (not) ἐγένετο (had there been) ἀφ’ (since) οὗ (-) ἄνθρωπος (men) ἐγένετο (were) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), τηλικοῦτος (so great) σεισμὸς (was the earthquake), οὕτω (so) μέγας (mighty). ¹⁹ καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (was split) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) ἡ (-) μεγάλη (great) εἰς (into) τρία (three) μέρη (parts), καὶ (and) αἱ (the) πόλεις (cities) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations) ἔπεσαν (fell); καὶ (and) Βαβυλὼν (Babylon) ἡ (the) μεγάλη (great) ἐμνήσθη (was remembered) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), δοῦναι (to give) αὐτῇ (her) τὸ (the) ποτήριον (cup) τοῦ (of the) οἴνου (wine) τοῦ (of the) θυμοῦ (fury) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ²⁰ Καὶ (And) πᾶσα (every) νῆσος (island) ἔφυγεν (fled), καὶ (and) ὄρη (mountains) οὐχ (not) εὑρέθησαν (were to be found). ²¹ καὶ (And) χάλαζα (a hail) μεγάλη (great), ὡς (about) ταλαντιαία (a talent weight), καταβαίνει (comes down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (the) ἀνθρώπους (men). καὶ (And) ἐβλασφήμησαν (blasphemed) οἱ (the) ἄνθρωποι (men) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐκ (on account of) τῆς (the) πληγῆς (plague) τῆς (of the) χαλάζης (hail), ὅτι (for) μεγάλη (severe) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) πληγὴ (plague) αὐτῆς (of it) σφόδρα (exceedingly).

²⁰ καὶ (And) ἐπιάσθη (was captured) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast), καὶ (and) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet), ὁ (the one) ποιήσας (having done) τὰ (the) σημεῖα (signs) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (him), ἐν (by) οἷς (which) ἐπλάνησεν (he deceived) τοὺς (those) λαβόντας (having received) τὸ (the) χάραγμα (mark) τοῦ (of the) θηρίου (beast) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) προσκυνοῦντας (worshiping) τῇ (the) εἰκόνι (image) αὐτοῦ (of it), ζῶντες (living) ἐβλήθησαν (were cast) οἱ (the) δύο (two) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire), τῆς (-) καιομένης (burning) ἐν (with) θείῳ (brimstone).

¹⁰ καὶ (And) ὁ (the) διάβολος (devil), ὁ (the one) πλανῶν (deceiving) αὐτοὺς (them), ἐβλήθη (was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρὸς (of fire) καὶ (and) θείου (of sulfur), ὅπου (where are) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) θηρίον (beast) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) ψευδοπροφήτης (false prophet); καὶ (and) βασανισθήσονται (they will be tormented) ἡμέρας (day) καὶ (and) νυκτὸς (night) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages).

¹⁵ καὶ (And) εἴ (if) τις (anyone) οὐχ (not) εὑρέθη (was found) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) βίβλῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) γεγραμμένος (having been written), ἐβλήθη (he was cast) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) τοῦ (-) πυρός (of fire).

⁵² Οὐαὶ (Woe) ὑμῖν (to you), τοῖς (the) νομικοῖς (lawyers), ὅτι (for) ἤρατε (you have taken away) τὴν (the) κλεῖδα (key) τῆς (of the) γνώσεως (knowledge). αὐτοὶ (You yourselves) οὐκ (not) εἰσήλθατε (did enter), καὶ (and) τοὺς (those who) εἰσερχομένους (are entering) ἐκωλύσατε (you hindered).”

¹⁷ Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) οὖς (an ear), ἀκουσάτω (let him hear) τί (what) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) λέγει (says) ταῖς (to the) ἐκκλησίαις (churches). Τῷ (The one) νικῶντι (overcoming), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) τοῦ (the) μάννα (manna) τοῦ (-) κεκρυμμένου (having been hidden); καὶ (and) δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ψῆφον (stone) λευκήν (white), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) ψῆφον (stone) ὄνομα (a name) καινὸν (new) γεγραμμένον (having been written), ὃ (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οἶδεν (has known), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ὁ (the one) λαμβάνων (receiving it). ¹⁸ Καὶ (And) τῷ (to) ἀγγέλῳ (the messenger) τῆς (of the) ἐν (in) Θυατείροις (Thyatira) ἐκκλησίας (church) γράψον (write): Τάδε (These things) λέγει (says) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (the One) ἔχων (having) τοὺς (the) ὀφθαλμοὺς (eyes) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὡς (like) φλόγα (a flame) πυρός (of fire), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πόδες (feet) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅμοιοι (like) χαλκολιβάνῳ (burnished bronze).

²⁶ Καὶ (And) ὁ (the one) νικῶν (overcoming) καὶ (and) ὁ (-) τηρῶν (keeping) ἄχρι (until) τέλους (the end) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) μου (of Me), δώσω (I will give) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἐπὶ (over) τῶν (the) ἐθνῶν (nations),

⁴ Ἀλλὰ (But) ἔχεις (you have) ὀλίγα (a few) ὀνόματα (people) ἐν (in) Σάρδεσιν (Sardis) ἃ (who) οὐκ (not) ἐμόλυναν (have soiled) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) περιπατήσουσιν (they will walk) μετ’ (with) ἐμοῦ (Me) ἐν (in) λευκοῖς (white), ὅτι (because) ἄξιοί (worthy) εἰσιν (they are). ⁵ Ὁ (The one) νικῶν (overcoming), οὕτως (thus) περιβαλεῖται (will be clothed) ἐν (in) ἱματίοις (garments) λευκοῖς (white). καὶ (And) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) ἐξαλείψω (will I blot out) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) βίβλου (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) ὁμολογήσω (I will confess) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me), καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ἀγγέλων (angels) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

⁹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ὄχλος (a multitude) πολύς (great), ὃν (which) ἀριθμῆσαι (to number) αὐτὸν (it) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able), ἐκ (out of) παντὸς (every) ἔθνους (nation), καὶ (and) φυλῶν (tribes), καὶ (and) λαῶν (peoples), καὶ (and) γλωσσῶν (tongues), ἑστῶτες (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), περιβεβλημένους (having been clothed with) στολὰς (robes) λευκάς (white), καὶ (and) φοίνικες (palm branches) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) χερσὶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them). ¹⁰ καὶ (And) κράζουσιν (they were crying out) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud), λέγοντες (saying): “Ἡ (-) σωτηρία (Salvation) τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), τῷ (the One) καθημένῳ (sitting) ἐπὶ (on) τῷ (the) θρόνῳ (throne), καὶ (and) τῷ (to the) Ἀρνίῳ (Lamb)!” ¹¹ Καὶ (And) πάντες (all) οἱ (the) ἄγγελοι (angels) εἱστήκεισαν (stood) κύκλῳ (around) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), καὶ (and) τῶν (the) τεσσάρων (four) ζῴων (living creatures), καὶ (and) ἔπεσαν (they fell) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) ἐπὶ (upon) τὰ (the) πρόσωπα (faces) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (God), ¹² λέγοντες (saying), “Ἀμήν (Amen)! ἡ (-) εὐλογία (Blessing), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) σοφία (wisdom), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) εὐχαριστία (thanksgiving), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) τιμὴ (honor), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δύναμις (power), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) ἰσχὺς (strength), τῷ (to the) Θεῷ (God) ἡμῶν (of us), εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages)! ἀμήν (Amen).” ¹³ Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), λέγων (saying) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) περιβεβλημένοι (having been clothed with) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) τὰς (-) λευκὰς (white), τίνες (who) εἰσὶν (are they), καὶ (and) πόθεν (from where) ἦλθον (have they come)?” ¹⁴ Καὶ (And) εἴρηκα (I said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Κύριέ (Lord) μου (of me), σὺ (you) οἶδας (know).” Καὶ (And) εἶπέν (he said) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοί (These) εἰσιν (are) οἱ (the ones) ἐρχόμενοι (coming) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) θλίψεως (tribulation) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great), καὶ (and) ἔπλυναν (they have washed) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ἐλεύκαναν (made white) αὐτὰς (them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) αἵματι (blood) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

⁸ καὶ (And) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) αὐτὸν (it) πάντες (all) οἱ (-) κατοικοῦντες (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), οὗ (of whom) οὐ (not) γέγραπται (have been written) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (names) αὐτοῦ (of them) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) τοῦ (-) ἐσφαγμένου (having been slain), ἀπὸ (from) καταβολῆς (the founding) κόσμου (of the world).

¹³ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνῆς (a voice) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), λεγούσης (saying) “Γράψον (Write), ‘Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (the) νεκροὶ (dead) οἱ (-) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord) ἀποθνῄσκοντες (dying) ἀπ’ (from) ἄρτι (now on).’” “Ναί (Yes),” λέγει (says) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit), “Ἵνα (so that) ἀναπαήσονται (they will rest) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) κόπων (labors) αὐτῶν (of them); τὰ (-) γὰρ (for) ἔργα (the works) αὐτῶν (of them) ἀκολουθεῖ (follow) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them).”

²² Καὶ (And) ναὸν (temple) οὐκ (not) εἶδον (I saw) ἐν (in) αὐτῇ (it); ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) Κύριος (the Lord) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ὁ (-) Παντοκράτωρ (Almighty), ναὸς (temple) αὐτῆς (of it) ἐστιν (is), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb). ²³ καὶ (And) ἡ (the) πόλις (city) οὐ (no) χρείαν (need) ἔχει (has) τοῦ (of the) ἡλίου (sun), οὐδὲ (nor) τῆς (of the) σελήνης (moon), ἵνα (that) φαίνωσιν (they should shine) αὐτῇ (in it); ἡ (the) γὰρ (for) δόξα (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐφώτισεν (enlightened) αὐτήν (it), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λύχνος (lamp) αὐτῆς (of it) τὸ (is the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb). ²⁴ καὶ (And) περιπατήσουσιν (will walk) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) φωτὸς (light) αὐτῆς (of it), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth) φέρουσιν (bring) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) αὐτῶν (of them) εἰς (into) αὐτήν (it). ²⁵ καὶ (And) οἱ (the) πυλῶνες (gates) αὐτῆς (of it) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) κλεισθῶσιν (shall be shut) ἡμέρας (by day), νὺξ (night) γὰρ (for) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (will be) ἐκεῖ (there). ²⁶ Καὶ (And) οἴσουσιν (they will bring) τὴν (the) δόξαν (glory) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) τιμὴν (honor) τῶν (of the) ἐθνῶν (nations) εἰς (into) αὐτήν (it). ²⁷ καὶ (And) οὐ (no) μὴ (not) εἰσέλθῃ (shall enter) εἰς (into) αὐτὴν (it) πᾶν (anything) κοινὸν (defiling), καὶ (and) ὁ (those) ποιῶν (practicing) βδέλυγμα (abomination) καὶ (and) ψεῦδος (a lie), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) οἱ (those) γεγραμμένοι (having been written) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) βιβλίῳ (book) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb).

²⁵ Ἔστιν (There are) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) ἄλλα (other things) πολλὰ (many) ἃ (that) ἐποίησεν (did) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ἅτινα (which) ἐὰν (if) γράφηται (they should be written) καθ’ (every) ἕν (one), οὐδ’ (not even) αὐτὸν (itself) οἶμαι (I suppose) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) χωρήσειν (to have space) τὰ (for the) γραφόμενα (to be written) βιβλία (books).

⁸ λοιπὸν (From now on) ἀπόκειταί (is laid up) μοι (for me) ὁ (the) τῆς (-) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness) στέφανος (crown), ὃν (which) ἀποδώσει (will award) μοι (to me) ὁ (the) κύριος (Lord) ἐν (in) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ἡμέρᾳ (day), ὁ (the) δίκαιος (righteous) κριτής (judge); οὐ (not) μόνον (only) δὲ (however) ἐμοὶ (to me), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) πᾶσι (to all) τοῖς (those) ἠγαπηκόσι (loving) τὴν (the) ἐπιφάνειαν (appearing) αὐτοῦ (of Him).

²⁸ οὕτως (so) καὶ (also) ὁ (-) Χριστός (Christ), ἅπαξ (once) προσενεχθεὶς (having been offered) εἰς (in order) τὸ (-) πολλῶν (of many) ἀνενεγκεῖν (to bear) ἁμαρτίας (the sins), ἐκ (for) δευτέρου (a second time), χωρὶς (apart from) ἁμαρτίας (sin), ὀφθήσεται (will appear) τοῖς (to those) αὐτὸν (Him) ἀπεκδεχομένοις (awaiting) εἰς (for) σωτηρίαν (salvation).

¹² προσδοκῶντας (expecting) καὶ (and) σπεύδοντας (hastening) τὴν (the) παρουσίαν (coming) τῆς (of the) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἡμέρας (day), δι’ (by reason of) ἣν (which) οὐρανοὶ (the heavens) πυρούμενοι (being set on fire) λυθήσονται (will be dissolved), καὶ (and) στοιχεῖα (the elements) καυσούμενα (burning with heat) τήκεται (are melting). ¹³ καινοὺς (New) δὲ (however) οὐρανοὺς (heavens), καὶ (and) γῆν (earth) καινὴν (a new), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) ἐπάγγελμα (promise) αὐτοῦ (of Him), προσδοκῶμεν (we are awaiting), ἐν (in) οἷς (which) δικαιοσύνη (righteousness) κατοικεῖ (dwells). ¹⁴ Διό (Therefore), ἀγαπητοί (beloved), ταῦτα (these things) προσδοκῶντες (expecting), σπουδάσατε (be diligent) ἄσπιλοι (without spot) καὶ (and) ἀμώμητοι (without blemish) αὐτῷ (by Him) εὑρεθῆναι (to be found), ἐν (in) εἰρήνῃ (peace).

² ὃς (who) ἐμαρτύρησεν (testified) τὸν (to the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) καὶ (and) τὴν (to the) μαρτυρίαν (testimony) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὅσα (as much as) εἶδεν (he saw).

¹⁸ καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Ζῶν (Living One); καὶ (and) ἐγενόμην (I was) νεκρὸς (dead), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold) ζῶν (living) εἰμι (I am) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) αἰῶνας (ages) τῶν (of the) αἰώνων (ages), καὶ (and) ἔχω (I have) τὰς (the) κλεῖς (keys) τοῦ (of) θανάτου (Death) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of) ᾅδου (Hades).

⁷ Πᾶσιν (To all) τοῖς (those) οὖσιν (being) ἐν (in) Ῥώμῃ (Rome), ἀγαπητοῖς (beloved) Θεοῦ (of God), κλητοῖς (called) ἁγίοις (saints): Χάρις (Grace) ὑμῖν (to you) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) Πατρὸς (the Father) ἡμῶν (of us) καὶ (and) Κυρίου (the Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).

²⁰ Ὁ (The) δὲ (now) Θεὸς (God) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace) συντρίψει (will crush) τὸν (-) Σατανᾶν (Satan) ὑπὸ (under) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐν (in) τάχει (a short time). Ἡ (The) χάρις (grace) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) ‹Χριστοῦ› (Christ) μεθ’ (be with) ὑμῶν (you).

²³ Ἀσπάζεται (Greets) ὑμᾶς (you) Γάϊος (Gaius), ὁ (the) ξένος (host) μου (of me), καὶ (and) ὅλης (of all) τῆς (the) ἐκκλησίας (church). Ἀσπάζεται (Greets) ὑμᾶς (you) Ἔραστος (Erastus), ὁ (the) οἰκονόμος (steward) τῆς (of the) πόλεως (city), καὶ (and) Κούαρτος (Quartus), ὁ (the) ἀδελφός (brother).

²³ Εἰρήνη (Peace) τοῖς (to the) ἀδελφοῖς (brothers) καὶ (and) ἀγάπη (love) μετὰ (with) πίστεως (faith) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) Πατρὸς (the Father) καὶ (and) Κυρίου (the Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ). ²⁴ Ἡ (-) χάρις (Grace) μετὰ (be with) πάντων (all) τῶν (those) ἀγαπώντων (loving) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστὸν (Christ) ἐν (in) ἀφθαρσίᾳ (incorruptibility).
