¹⁰ And then many will fall away, and they will betray one another, and they will hate one another.

⁵ Trust not in friends, and confide not in guides: beware of your wife, so as not to commit anything to her. ⁶ For the son dishonors his father, the daughter will rise up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law: those in his house shall be all a man's enemies.

²¹ Now brother will hand over brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents, and put them to death.

³⁵ For I have come to 'turn a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; ³⁶ and 'a man's enemies will be his own household members.'

⁶ And blessed is the one who is not offended because of Me."

²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived. For when tribulation or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

⁵⁷ So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, and in his own house."

²¹ Now while they were eating, He said, "Assuredly I say to you, that one of you will betray Me." ²² And becoming exceedingly sorrowful, each of them began to say to Him, "Surely not I am the one, Lord?" ²³ He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl will betray Me. ²⁴ Indeed, the Son of Man goes just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me on this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' ³² "But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee." ³³ Peter answered and said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble because of You, yet I will never be made to stumble." ³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Assuredly I say to you that on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times."

¹⁷ and they have no root in themselves, but are shortlived. Afterward, when trials or persecution arise because of the word, immediately they fall away.

⁶⁶ From this time many of His disciples turned back and no longer would walk with Him. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?"

¹⁵ This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

¹⁰ For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and traveled to Thessalonica--Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
