¹⁴ and they bury him in [one of] his graves, that he had prepared for himself in the city of David, and they cause him to lie on a bed that [one] has filled [with] spices, and divers kinds of mixtures, with perfumed work; and they burn for him a burning--very great.

² And instructing is Joseph his servants, the healers, to embalm his father. And embalming are the healers Israel.

²⁵ and you will make of it a holy anointing oil, a compounded ointment, the handiwork of a compounder. A holy anointing oil shall it be. ²⁶ With it you will anoint the tent of appointment and the coffer of the testimony, ²⁷ the table and all its furnishings, the lampstand and its furnishings and the altar of incense, ²⁸ the altar of ascent offering and all its furnishings, the laver and its post. ²⁹ You will hallow them so that they become a holy of holies. All that touches them shall be holy. ³⁰ Aaron and his sons shall you anoint and hallow them to serve as priests for Me. ³¹ And to the sons of Israel shall you speak, saying: A holy anointing oil shall this become to Me throughout your generations. ³² On human flesh of others it shall not be rubbed, and by its recipe you shall not make such as it. It is holy; holy shall it become to you. ³³ The man who compounds such as it, and who gives any of it to an alien, he will be cut off from his people. ³⁴ Yahweh said to Moses: Take to yourself spices: stacte, murex shell and galbanum, spices with pure frankincense. Component by component shall it be;" ³⁵ and you will make of it an incense, a compound of the handiwork of a compounder, salted clean, holy. ³⁶ Then you will reduce to powder some of it, pulverized, and put it before the testimony in the tent of appointment where I shall keep appointment with you. A holy of holies shall it become to you. ³⁷ Yet the incense which you shall make by its recipe you shall not make for yourselves. Holy shall it be to you for Yahweh.

¹⁹ and it comes to pass, from days to days, and at the time of the going out of the end of two years, his bowels have gone out with his sickness, and he dies of sore diseases, and his people have not made for him a burning like the burning of his fathers.

²⁴ And his servants remove him from the chariot, and cause him to ride on the second chariot that he has, and cause him to go to Jerusalem, and he dies, and is buried in the graves of his fathers, and all Judah and Jerusalem are mourning for Josiah,

¹ As dead gadflies cause a compound of oil to stink, to bubble forth, So a little frivolity outweighs wisdom and glory."

¹⁶ `What have you here? And whom have you here? For you hewed a tomb for yourself here,'--hewing on a height his tomb! Delineating in a crag a tabernacle for himself!"

⁵ in peace you die, and with the burnings of your fathers, the former kings who have been before you, so they make a burning for you; and Ah, lord, they lament for you, for the word I have spoken--an affirmation of Yahweh.'"

³⁹ Now Nicodemus also came (who came to Him at night at first), bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds troy." ⁴⁰ They got the body of Jesus, then, and they bind it in swathings with the spices, according as the custom of the Jews is to bury." ⁴¹ Now there was in the place where He was crucified, a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one has been placed as yet." ⁴² There, then, because of the preparation of the Jews, seeing that the tomb was near, they place Jesus."
