¹⁴ Then these riches perish through some experience of evil, When he begets a son, then there is not anything left in his hand."

⁶ Yahweh puts to death, and keeps alive, He brings down to Sheol, and brings up. ⁷ Yahweh dispossesses, and He makes rich, He makes low, yea, He makes high. ⁸ He raises from the dust the poor, From a dunghill He lifts up the needy, To cause [them] to sit with nobles, Yea, a throne of honor He does cause them to inherit, For to Yahweh [are] the fixtures of earth, And He sets on them the habitable world.

³⁶ and it has been, every one who is left in your house does come in to bow himself to him, for a wage of silver, and a cake of bread, and has said, Admit me, I pray you, unto one of the priest's offices, to eat a morsel of bread..

²⁶ and he takes the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, yea, the whole he has taken; and he takes all the shields of gold that Solomon made.

⁵ His harvest, the hungry one shall eat, And he shall take it away to secluded places; Those thirsting will gasp for their estate.

¹⁵ The estate he has swallowed down, he shall vomit it up; El shall evict it from his belly. ¹⁶ He shall suck the poison of cobras; The tongue of a puff-adder shall kill him. ¹⁷ He shall not see the rillets, The streams of watercourses flowing with honey and clotted cream. ¹⁸ He must return the fruit of his labor and not swallow it down, And in the estate of his commerce, he has no enjoyment. ¹⁹ For he has maltreated, he has forsaken the poor; He has pillaged a house which he did not build. ²⁰ For he has not known ease from the craving of his belly; From his coveting, he has not tried to escape. ²¹ There was nothing surviving for him as food. Therefore his good state cannot hope to last. ²² When his affluence is full there shall be distress for him; Every means of misery shall come upon him. ²³ It shall come to be, in order to fill his belly, That He shall send against him the heat of His anger And shall rain it upon him as his nourishment. ²⁴ He shall have to run away from a weapon of iron; An arrow of a copper bow shall pass through him. ²⁵ It will be pulled out and be brought forth from his body, And a flashing blade from his bile; Dread shall come over him. ²⁶ Total darkness lies buried for his secluded riches; A fire that was not blown shall devour him; It shall imperil anything surviving in his tent. ²⁷ The heavens shall expose his depravity, And the earth will rise against him. ²⁸ The deluge shall deport his house, Spilling over in the day of His anger. ²⁹ This is the portion from Elohim for the wicked person, And the allotment assigned him by El.

¹⁶ If he piles up silver like soil And makes ready clothing like clay, ¹⁷ He shall make it ready, yet the righteous one shall put it on, And the innocent one shall apportion the silver.

⁶ Yea, man walks about, merely an image; Yea, they clamor about in vain He piles up goods but does not know who will be gathering them in."

⁹ May his sons become orphans, And his wife a widow." ¹⁰ May his sons rove, yea rove so that they must beg, And may they be driven out from their deserted homes." ¹¹ May the creditor confiscate all that he has, And may aliens plunder the fruit of his labor." ¹² There must not be anyone being indulgent with kindness to him, And there must not be anyone showing grace to his orphans."

⁵ While your eyes are on it, does it fly away and is not? Indeed riches make wings for themselves And fly away to the heavens like a vulture."

²⁶ For to the man who is good before Him, He gives wisdom and knowledge and rejoicing; Yet to the sinner He gives the experience of gathering and of collecting wealth, To give it to one who is good before the One, Elohim; This too is vanity and a grazing on wind."

⁹ You face about for increase, and behold it is little! Yet you bring it home, and I blow on it. Because of what? (averring is Yahweh of hosts). Because of My house! It is deserted, yet you are running, each to his own house!"

¹⁶ what came to you? One came to a threshed grain bin for twenty seahs, yet it came to be ten. One came to a wine-vat to make it bare of fifty measures in the winepress, yet it came to be twenty." ¹⁷ I smote you with blasting and with green mold and with hail in all the work of your hands, yet you are not returning to Me, (averring is Yahweh)."

¹⁹ Do not hoard for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and corrosion are causing them to disappear, and where thieves are tunneling and stealing." ²⁰ Yet hoard for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor corrosion are causing them to disappear, and where thieves are not tunneling nor stealing;"
