¹ {A Song of Ascents{ To You I lift up my eyes, The One dwelling in the heavens." ² Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their lords, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So do our eyes look to Yahweh our Elohim Until He should be gracious to us." ³ Be gracious to us, O Yahweh, be gracious to us, For we are surfeited greatly with contempt." ⁴ For itself is our soul greatly surfeited With the derision of the self-satisfied, With the contempt of the proud."

⁴ The One sitting in the heavens, He shall ridicule; Yahweh, He shall deride them.

⁴ Yahweh is in His holy temple; Yahweh--His throne is in the heavens. His eyes are perceiving; His eyelids are testing the sons of humanity.

¹⁵ My eyes are continually toward Yahweh, For He shall bring forth my feet from the net."

⁵ Who is like Yahweh our Elohim, The One elevated in His dwelling, ⁶ The One condescending in His vigilance Over the heavens and the earth.

³ Indeed our Elohim is in the heavens; All that He desires, He does."

¹ {A Song for Ascents{ I am lifting my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come?

¹ {A Song of Ascents, Davidic{ I rejoiced with those saying to me, Let us go to the House of Yahweh."

¹ {A Song of Ascents, Davidic{ Unless Yahweh Himself had been for us, Now let Israel say,

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ Those who trust in Yahweh are like Mount Zion which is immovable; It shall dwell securely for the eon.

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ When Yahweh reversed the captivity of Zion, We became like those who are dreaming."

¹ {A Song of Ascents, Solomonic{ If Yahweh Himself is not building a house, Its builders toil futilely in it. If Yahweh Himself is not guarding a city, The sentinel is alert futilely."

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ Happy is everyone who is fearing Yahweh, Who is walking in His ways."

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ Many times have they distressed me from my youth, May Israel now say,

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ From the depths I call out to You, O Yahweh;"

¹ {A Song of Ascents, Davidic{ O Yahweh, my heart is not haughty; Nor are my eyes set high, And I do not walk in ways too great Or too difficult for me."

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ Remember, O Yahweh, concerning David, All his humiliation,

¹ {A Song of Ascents, Davidic{ Behold, how good and how pleasant For brothers to dwell as one."

¹ {A Song of Ascents{ Behold, bless Yahweh, all servants of Yahweh, Who are standing in Yahweh's House by night."

⁸ Indeed toward You, O Yahweh my Lord, are my eyes directed; In You I take refuge; do not empty out my soul."

¹⁵ For thus says Yahweh, high and lifted up, who tabernacles the future, and holy is His name:"In the high and holy place am I tabernacling, and with the crushed and lowly spirit, to preserve alive the spirit of the lowly, and to preserve alive the heart of the crushed."

¹ Thus says Yahweh, "The heavens are My throne, and the earth is My footstool. Where is this house which you are building for Me? And where is this place of My rest?

⁹ Thus, then, you be praying: 'Our Father Who art in the heavens, hallowed be Thy name."

¹³ Now the tribute collector, standing afar off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, 'God, make a propitiatory shelter for me, the sinner!' "

²⁶ And saying is He to him, "Send Me away, for the dawn ascends.And saying is he, "Not letting You go am I save You bless me.

¹⁸ For Your salvation I expect, Yahweh!"

²³ and now, cursed are you, and none of you is cut off [from being] a servant, even hewers of wood and drawers of water, for the house of my Elohim..

²⁷ and Joshua makes them on that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the company, and for the altar of Yahweh, unto this day, at the place which He does choose.

⁶ And the men of Gibeon send unto Joshua, unto the camp at Gilgal, saying, `Let not your hand cease from your servants; come up unto us [with] haste, and give safety to us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorite, dwelling in the hill-country, have been assembled against us..

¹ {A Davidic Psalm{ Expectantly I have expected Yahweh, And He stretched out to me and heard my imploring;" ² He brought me up from the cistern of tumult, From the miry mud; Then He raised my feet upon a crag; He has established my movement." ³ Now He is putting a new song in my mouth, A hymn of praise to our Elohim. Many shall see it and shall fear, And they shall trust in Yahweh."

⁸² My eyes are exhausted looking for Your promise, Asking, When shall You comfort me?

¹²³ My eyes, they are exhausted, looking for Your salvation And for Your righteous promise." ¹²⁴ Deal with Your servant according to Your benignity, And teach me Your statutes." ¹²⁵ I am Your servant; give me understanding So that I may know Your testimonies.

⁵ I am expectant for Yahweh; my soul is expectant, And I wait for His word." ⁶ My soul longs for Yahweh More than sentinels for the morning, Yea, sentinels for the morning."

²⁵ Yahweh is good to those who are expectant, to the soul that seeks after Him;" ²⁶ It is good that one should wait in stillness for the salvation of Yahweh;

¹ Now He told them a parable also, so that they must always be praying and not be despondent,

² and said before his brethren and the force of Samaria, yea, he said, `What [are] the weak Jews doing? are they left to themselves? do they sacrifice? do they complete in a day? do they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish? --and they burnt!. <sup>3</sup> And Tobiah the Ammonite [is] by him and said, `Also, that which they are building--if a fox does go up, then it has broken down their stone wall.. ⁴ Hear, O our Elohim, for we have been despised; and turn back their reproach on their own head, and give them for a spoil in a land of captivity;"

¹ {A Davidic Psalm{ When I called, He answered me, Elohim of my righteousness; In my distress, You made a wideness for me; Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer.

¹³ You constitute us a reproach to our neighbors, A derision and a scoffing to those round about us." ¹⁴ You constitute us a proverbial byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the national groups." ¹⁵ The entire day my mortifying is in front of me, And shame, it has covered my face, ¹⁶ Because of the voice of the reproacher and taunter, Because of the face of the enemy and avenger."

¹ {A Davidic Inscribed Psalm{ {When the Philistines held him in Gath{ Be gracious to me, O Elohim, for a mortal gasps after me; All day long this fighting man is oppressing me." ² They gasp, those who lie in wait for me the entire day, For many are fighting against me haughtily."

¹³ As for me, my prayer is to You, O Yahweh, for a season acceptable. O Elohim, in Your great benignity, answer me with the faithfulness of Your salvation." ¹⁴ Rescue me from the mud, and let me not sink; Let me be rescued from those hating me, and from the depths of the waters." ¹⁵ Let not the surge of the water be engulfing me, Let not the swamp be swallowing me up, And let not the well be blocking off its mouth over me." ¹⁶ Answer me, O Yahweh, for Your benignity is good; Turn toward me according to Your many compassions."

⁵⁰ Remember, O Yahweh, the reproach of Your servants; I bear in my bosom the mortification from many peoples, ⁵¹ With which Your enemies reproach, O Yahweh, With which they reproach the heel-prints of Your anointed one."

³ Despised is He, and shunned by men, a man of pains and knowing illness. And, as One concealing His face from us, despised is He, and we judge Him of no account."

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees also, inherently fond of money, heard all these things, and they scouted Him."

¹¹ The Pharisee, standing, prayed this to himself: 'God, I am thanking you that I am not even as the rest of men, rapacious, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tribute collector." ¹² I am fasting twice of a sabbath. I am taking tithes from all whatever I am acquiring.' ¹³ Now the tribute collector, standing afar off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, 'God, make a propitiatory shelter for me, the sinner!' "

³⁵ And the people had stood, beholding. Now the chiefs also with them scouted, saying, "Others he saves! Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, the Chosen One!"

¹⁹ And Sanballat the Horonite hears, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, and they mock at us, and despise us, and say, `What [is] this thing that you are doing? against the king are you rebelling?.

⁵ Contempt for misfortune is in the reflections of the self-satisfied, Readied for those of tottering feet.

⁴ I myself also could speak like you; O that your soul were in the place of my soul:I would indeed join declarations together against you, And I would indeed wag my head over you.

⁵ They are not involved in the toil of a mortal, And they are not touched by ills with humanity." ⁶ Wherefore pride is their necklace; Violence is draping about them like a burnoose. ⁷ Their eye protrudes from fat; Vain fancies pass through their heart. ⁸ They belittle and speak with evil intent; From their height they are plotting extortion. ⁹ They set their mouth in the heavens, And their tongue is going about the earth."

⁵¹ The arrogant, they mock me exceedingly, Yet I do not turn aside from Your law."

⁹ Tranquil women, rise and hear My voice! Trusting daughters, give ear to My sayings!"

¹¹ Tremble, tranquil women! Be disturbed, trusting women! Strip and be naked, with a girdle skirt on the loins!"

¹¹ Secure is Moab from his youth, And at rest [is] he for his preserved things, And he has not been emptied out from vessel unto vessel, And into captivity he has not gone, Therefore has his taste remained in him, And his fragrance has not been changed."

²⁷ And was not Israel the derision to you? Among thieves was he found? For since your words concerning him, You do bemoan yourself."

²⁹ We have heard of the arrogance of Moab, Exceeding proud! His haughtiness, and his arrogance, And his pride, and the height of his heart,

¹ Woe to the tranquil in Zion and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria!--The specified men of the first of the nations, and to them to whom the house of Israel comes."

²¹ Now all the Athenians, and the repatriated guests, had opportunity for nothing different than to be saying something or hearing something newer."

³² Now, on hearing of the resurrection of the dead, these, indeed, jeered, yet those say, "We will hear you concerning this again also."

²⁴ Now, as he is making this defense, Festus is averring with a loud voice, "You are mad, Paul! Much scripture is deranging you to madness!"
