⁹ A widow is to be put on the list only if she is not less than sixty years old, having been the wife of one husband,

³⁶ And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with her husband seven years from her virginity, ³⁷ and as a widow till she was eighty-four. ¹² Deacons must be the husband of one wife, and must manage their children and their households well.

³ Honor widows who are real widows. ⁴ But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice their religion in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.

¹¹ But refuse to put younger widows on the list, for when they feel sensual desires in disregard of Christ, they want to marry,

¹⁴ So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their homes, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach.
