¹ ¶ And Saul spoke to Jonathan, his son, and to all his slaves that they should kill David. ² But Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted much in David, and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul, my father, seeks to kill thee: now, therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning and abide in a secret place and hide thyself. ³ And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will speak with my father of thee, and what I see, that I will tell thee. ⁴ And Jonathan spoke good of David unto Saul, his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his slave David, for he has not sinned against thee; on the other hand his works have been very good for thee, ⁵ for he put his soul in his hand and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel. Thou didst see it and rejoice. Why then wilt thou sin against innocent blood to slay David without a cause? ⁶ And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swore, As the LORD lives, he shall not be slain. ⁷ And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan told him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as in times past. ⁸ ¶ And there was war again, and David went out and fought with the Philistines and slew them with a great slaughter, and they fled from him. ⁹ And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand, and David played with his hand. ¹⁰ And Saul sought to smite David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, who smote the spear into the wall; and David fled and escaped that night. ¹¹ ¶ Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house to watch him and to slay him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life tonight, tomorrow thou shalt be dead. ¹² So Michal let David down through a window, and he went and fled and escaped. ¹³ Then Michal took an image and laid it in the bed and put a pillow of goats’ hair at his head and covered it with a cloth. ¹⁴ And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick. ¹⁵ And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed that I may slay him. ¹⁶ And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed with a pillow of goats’ hair at his head. ¹⁷ And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so and sent away my enemy that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; if not, I shall kill thee. ¹⁸ ¶ So David fled and escaped and came to Samuel in Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth. ¹⁹ And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah. ²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. ²¹ And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also. ²² Then he also went to Ramah and came to a great well that is in Sechu, and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah. ²³ And he went there to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God came upon him also, and he went on and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. ²⁴ And he stripped off his clothes also and prophesied before Samuel in like manner and lay down naked all that day and all that night. From here it was said, Is Saul also among the prophets?

¹⁷ ¶ A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

¹⁷ This I command you, that ye love one another. ¹⁸ ¶ If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

²⁴ but their ambushes were understood by Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

¹⁶ And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their ambush, he went and entered into the fortress and told Paul.

¹² Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? ⁹ ¶ And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee, for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would I not be obliged to show it to thee?

¹³ the LORD do so and much more to Jonathan. But if it pleases my father to do thee evil, then I will show it to thee and send thee away that thou may go in peace; and the LORD be with thee as he has been with my father.

⁶ Whoever sheds man’s blood in man, his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God is man made.

²² Then Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak unto you, saying, Do not sin against the young man, and ye would not hear? Therefore, behold, his blood is also required.

²⁵ If one man sins against another, the judges shall judge him, but if someone sins against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they did not hearken unto the voice of their father because the LORD had already decided to kill them.

³² And Jonathan answered Saul his father and said unto him, Why shall he be slain? What has he done?

¹⁴ Then Ahimelech answered the king and said, And who is so faithful among all thy slaves as David, the king’s son-in-law, who goes at thy bidding and is honourable in thy house?

²² If a man sins against his neighbour and an oath is laid upon him to make him swear, and the oath comes before thy altar in this house,

¹² They rewarded me evil for good until my soul was alone.

⁴ They have responded to my love by becoming my adversaries, but I give myself unto prayer. ⁵ And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

¹³ ¶ Whosoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

¹¹ ¶ If thou forbear to deliver those that are drawn unto death and those that are ready to be slain, ¹² if thou should say, Behold, we knew it not; shall not he that weighs the hearts understand it? and he that keeps thy soul, does he not know it? and shall he not render to every man according to his works?

⁸ Open thy mouth for those who cannot speak in the judgment of all the sons of death. ⁹ Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and destitute.

²⁰ Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them and to turn away thy wrath from them.

¹² In this manner, therefore, sinning against the brethren and wounding their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

¹⁵ Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer and ye know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

¹³ And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still and see the saving health of the LORD, which he will bestow on you today; for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall never see them again for ever.

¹⁰ that innocent blood not be shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God gives thee for an inheritance, and the blood shall not be upon thee. ¹¹ But when any man hates his neighbour and lies in wait for him and rises up against him and smites him mortally that he dies and flees into one of these cities, ¹² then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger {Heb. redeemer} of blood, and he shall die. ¹³ Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel that it may go well with thee.

¹⁷ (For my father fought for you and cast his life far from him to deliver you out of the hand of Midian;

³ Seeing, therefore, that ye did not defend me, I put my life in my hands and went over against the sons of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand. Why then have ye come up against me this day to fight with me?

¹³ And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day, for today the LORD has wrought salvation in Israel.

⁴⁵ Then the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great saving health in Israel? No, in no wise: as the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground, for he has wrought with God this day. So the people rescued {Heb. ransomed} Jonathan that he did not die.

⁴⁹ And David put his hand in his bag and took a stone from there and slang it and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone remained sunk into his forehead, and he fell upon his face to the earth. ⁵⁰ So David overcame the Philistine with a sling and with a stone and smote the Philistine and slew him, but there was no sword in the hand of David. ⁵¹ Therefore David ran and stood upon the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and slew him and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw their giant was dead, they fled. ⁵² And the men of Israel and of Judah arose and shouted and pursued the Philistines unto the valley and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath and unto Ekron. ⁵³ And the sons of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents.

²¹ And the woman came unto Saul and saw that he was sore troubled and said unto him, Behold, thy handmaid has heard thy voice, and I have put my soul in my hand and have hearkened unto thy words which thou didst speak unto me.

¹⁴ they set themselves in the midst of that portion and delivered it and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great salvation.

³ Gimel Yea, none that wait on thee shall be ashamed; those which rebel without cause shall be ashamed.

⁴ Those that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; those that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty; then I restored that which I did not take away.

¹⁰⁹ ¶ My soul is continually in my hand; yet I do not forget thy law.

¹⁵ But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and upon its inhabitants; for of a truth the LORD has sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.

⁴ saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? Thou shalt see to it.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person; see ye to it.

²⁵ But this comes to pass that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither do I count my life dear unto myself, only that I might finish my course with joy and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

³⁰ because for the work of the Christ he was near unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

³ how shall we escape, if we belittle such great saving health? Which, having begun to be published by the Lord, has been confirmed unto us by those that heard him,

³⁹ For, as the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan, my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.

¹⁰ And Saul sought to smite David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, who smote the spear into the wall; and David fled and escaped that night. ¹¹ ¶ Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house to watch him and to slay him in the morning. ²⁴ ¶ He that hates dissembles with his lips and lays up deceit within him; ²⁵ when he speaks fair, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart.

¹⁰ ¶ Then Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither up until now, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy slave; but I am slow of speech and of a slow tongue.

²¹ And David came to Saul and stood before him; and he loved him greatly, and he became his armourbearer.

¹⁰ And it came to pass on the next day that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house, and David played with his hand as at other times, and there was a spear in Saul’s hand.

¹³ Therefore, Saul removed him from him and made him captain over a thousand, and he went out and came in before the people.

² And moreover yesterday and the day before yesterday, when Saul was king, it was thou that led out and brought in Israel; and the LORD thy God hath said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.

³³ For Tophet is ordained of yesterday for the king of Babylon, it is also prepared; he has deepened and enlarged the pile of her fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD like a stream of brimstone kindles it.

³² It is God that girds me with strength and makes my way perfect. ³³ He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and sets me upon my high places. ³⁴ He trains my hands for the battle, so that a bow of bronze shall be broken by my arms. ³⁵ In the same manner thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand will hold me up, and thy meekness shall multiply me. ³⁶ Thou shall enlarge my steps under me, and my knees shall not tremble. ³⁷ I shall pursue my enemies and overtake them: neither shall I turn again until they are consumed. ³⁸ I shall smite them, and they will not be able to rise: they shall fall under my feet. ³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued my enemies under me. ⁴⁰ Thou hast also given me the necks of my enemies that I might destroy those that hate me. ⁴¹ They cried out, but there was no one to save them: even unto the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴² Then I beat them as small as the dust before the wind: I scattered them as the dirt in the streets. ⁴³ Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the Gentiles: a people whom I did not know served me. ⁴⁴ As soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me: the sons of strangers submitted themselves unto me even against their will. ⁴⁵ The strangers fell away and were afraid in their close places. ⁴⁶ The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted. ⁴⁷ It is God that avenges me and subdues the peoples under me. ⁴⁸ He delivers me from my enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the one who would betray me. ⁴⁹ Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the Gentiles and sing praises unto thy name. ⁵⁰ He gives great deliverance to his king and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

³ Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

¹⁴ ¶ But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

¹⁶ Let our lord now command thy slaves, which are before thee, to seek out a man who is a cunning player on a harp, and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand and thou shalt have relief.

¹⁰ And it came to pass on the next day that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house, and David played with his hand as at other times, and there was a spear in Saul’s hand. ¹¹ And Saul cast the spear, saying, I will smite David to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

³⁰ ¶ There is no wisdom nor intelligence nor counsel against the LORD.

¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the slaves of the LORD, and their justice from me, said the LORD.

⁴ ¶ O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? Your mercy is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goes away.

²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another, for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel until the Son of man be come.

⁴³ When the unclean spirit is gone out of the man, it walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. ⁴⁴ Then it says, I will return into my house from which I came out; and when it is come, it finds it empty, swept, and garnished. ⁴⁵ Then it goes and takes with itself seven other spirits worse than itself, and they enter in and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it also be unto this wicked generation.

²⁰ Certainly, if having separated themselves from the contaminations of the world, by the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they again entangle themselves therein and are overcome, their latter end is made worse for them than the beginnings. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² But it has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog returns unto his own vomit, and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Do not destroy, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. ¶ Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those that rise up against me. ² Deliver me from the workers of iniquity and save me from bloodthirsty men. ³ For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul; the strong are gathered against me; I am not in rebellion, nor in sin, O LORD. ⁴ They run and prepare themselves when I have committed no iniquity; awake to help me and behold. ⁵ Thou, therefore, O LORD God of the hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the Gentiles; be not merciful to any rebellious workers of iniquity. Selah. ⁶ They will return at evening; they will bark like dogs and go round about outside the city. ⁷ Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for who, say they, doth hear? ⁸ ¶ But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the Gentiles in derision. ⁹ I will reserve his strength unto thee, for God is my defence. ¹⁰ The God of my mercy shall meet me on the way; God shall let me see my desire upon my enemies. ¹¹ Slay them not lest my people forget; scatter them by thy power and bring them down, O Lord our shield. ¹² For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; they shall be subject to weakness and to a curse. ¹³ Consume them in wrath, consume them that they may not be and let them know that God rules in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah. ¹⁴ And at evening let them return and let them bark like dogs and go round about outside the city. ¹⁵ Let them wander up and down for food and murmur if they are not satisfied. ¹⁶ But I will sing of thy power; I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning, for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. ¹⁷ Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing, for God is my defence and the God of my mercy.

¹⁷ And the five men that went to spy out the land went up and went in there and took the graven image and the ephod, and the teraphim and the molten image while the priest stood in the entrance of the gate with the six hundred men that were armed with weapons of war.

⁴ For the sons of Israel shall abide many days without king and without Lord and without sacrifice and without image, and without ephod and without teraphim;

⁵ And at the time of shutting the gate, when it was dark, these men went out, and I do not know where the men went; pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

³ ¶ A stone is heavy and the sand weighty; but a fool’s wrath is heavier than them both. ⁴ Wrath is cruel, and anger is impetuous, but who is able to stand before envy?

¹⁵ their feet are swift to shed blood;

¹⁴ And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.

¹⁷ Then the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn and slay the priests of the LORD because their hand also is with David and because they knew when he fled and did not show it to me. But the slaves of the king would not put forth their hands to fall upon the priests of the LORD.

¹² And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? For thou art Saul.

²² And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn aside from following me; why should I smite thee to the ground? How then should I hold up my face to Joab, thy brother?

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found thee because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

¹⁶ ¶ Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth and sent forth and killed all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had understood of the wise men.

¹⁶ Am I, therefore, become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

¹⁷ Then he would return to Ramah, for there was his house, and there he judged Israel, and there he built an altar unto the LORD.

³⁴ Then Samuel went to Ramah, and Saul went up to his house in Gibeah of Saul.

³ Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah in his own city. And Saul had removed the spiritists and the diviners out of the land.

¹¹ I said in my haste, All men are liars.

¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that ye may be whole. The effectual prayer of the righteous is very powerful.

⁹ Then Doeg, the Edomite, who was set over the slaves of Saul, answered and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob to Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub. ¹⁰ And he enquired of the LORD for him and gave him provision and gave him the sword of Goliath, the Philistine.

¹⁹ ¶ Then those of Ziph came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the woods in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right hand side of the wilderness?

¹ ¶ And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does David not hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?

¹² ¶ Of the ruler who hearkens unto the lying word, all his ministers are evil.

²⁵ Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke unto him and took of the spirit that was in him and gave it unto the seventy elders, and it came to pass that when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and did not cease. ²⁶ But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad and the name of the other Medad, upon whom the spirit also rested; and they were of those that were written, but they had not gone unto the tabernacle; and they began to prophesy in the camp.

⁵ After that thou shalt come to the hill of God where the garrison of the Philistines is, and it shall come to pass when thou art come there to the city, that thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery and a tambourine and a pipe and a harp before them; and they shall prophesy. ⁶ And the Spirit of the LORD will prosper thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them and shalt be turned into another man.

¹⁰ And when they came there to the hill, behold, the company of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God prospered him, and he prophesied among them.

¹¹ ¶ Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house to watch him and to slay him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life tonight, tomorrow thou shalt be dead.

²⁸ ¶ And it shall come to pass after this that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

³² The Pharisees heard the people that murmured such things concerning him, and the princes of the priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.

⁴⁵ ¶ Then the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees came, and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? ⁴⁶ The officers answered, Never has anyone spoken like this man. ⁴⁷ Then the Pharisees answered them, Are ye also deceived? ⁴⁸ Have any of the princes or of the Pharisees believed on him? ⁴⁹ But this people who do not know the law are cursed. ⁵⁰ Nicodemus said unto them (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them), ⁵¹ Does our law judge any man before it hears him and knows what he does? ⁵² They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and see, for a prophet has never arisen out of Galilee.

³ But he that prophesies speaks unto men for edification and exhortation and comfort.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in one that does not believe or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all; ²⁵ for the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed in you.

⁹ ¶ Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him, and, behold, he sat on the top of a mountain. And he spoke unto him, Man of God, the king has commanded thee to come down. ¹⁰ And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And fire came down from heaven, that consumed him and his fifty. ¹¹ Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly. ¹² And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty. ¹³ And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up and came and fell on his knees before Elijah and besought him and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life and the life of these fifty thy slaves, be precious in thy sight.

²² ¶ Though thou should bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet his foolishness will not depart from him.

²³ Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Likewise ye also cannot do good, being taught to do evil.

⁵ And the LORD put a word in Balaam’s mouth and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

² and lifting up his eyes, he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.

²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

⁹ ¶ The heart of man devises his way, but the LORD directs his steps.

¹ ¶ The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water, he turns it wherever he will.

²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

⁵¹ And this he spoke not of himself; but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;

² And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

⁴ he who has heard the words of God has said, who saw the vision of the Almighty, fallen, but having his eyes open:

¹⁰ And when they came there to the hill, behold, the company of prophets met him, and the Spirit of God prospered him, and he prophesied among them. ¹¹ And it came to pass when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets? ¹² And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore, it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?

¹⁴ And David danced before the LORD with all his might, and David was girded with a linen ephod.

²⁰ ¶ Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal, the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his slaves as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!

² at the same time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

⁸ ¶ Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons and mourning as the owls.

²¹ But all that heard him were amazed and said, Is not this he that destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem and came here for that intent that he might bring them bound unto the princes of the priests?
