1 ¶ Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 (It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that he said to his disciples, Let us go into Judea again.
8 His disciples said unto him, Rabbi, the Jews of late sought to stone thee, and goest thou there again?
9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble because he sees the light of this world.
10 But he who walks in the night stumbles because there is no light in him.
11 Having said that he said unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then his disciples said, Lord, if he sleeps, he shall be saved.
13 But Jesus had spoken of his death, and they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Then Jesus said unto them plainly, Lazarus has died.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, in order that ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
16 Then Thomas said, who is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us go also, that we may die with him.
17 ¶ Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 Now Bethany was near unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off;
19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him; but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Then Martha said unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died.
22 But I know that even now whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it unto thee.
23 Jesus said unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha said unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection in the last day.
25 Jesus said unto her, I AM the resurrection and the life; he that believes in me, though he is dead, yet shall he live;
26 and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She said unto him, Yes, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who should come into the world.
28 And having said this, she went away and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calls for thee.
29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly and came unto him.
30 (Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.)
31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goes unto the grave to weep there.
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died.
33 ¶ When Jesus therefore saw her weeping and the Jews also weeping who came with her, he became enraged in the Spirit and stirred himself up
34 and said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then the Jews said, Behold how he loved him!
37 And some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have also caused that this man should not have died?
38 Jesus therefore, becoming enraged again in himself, came to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that had died, said unto him, Lord, by this time he stinks, for he has been dead four days.
40 Jesus said unto her, Did I not say unto thee that if thou wouldest believe thou shalt see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus, lifting up his eyes, said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always, but because of the people who stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And having said these things, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 Then he that had been dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus said unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
45 ¶ Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary and had seen what Jesus did believed on him.
46 But some of them went unto the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
47 Then the high priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, What shall we do? for this man does many signs.
48 If we let him thus alone, everyone will believe on him, and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and the nation.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all
50 nor consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation be lost.
51 And this he spoke not of himself; but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;
52 and not for that nation only, but that he should also gather together in one the sons of God that were scattered abroad.
53 So that from that day forth they took counsel together to kill him.
54 Jesus therefore no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there unto a country near to the wilderness into a city called Ephraim and there continued with his disciples.
55 And the passover of the Jews was now at hand, and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover to purify themselves;
56 and they sought for Jesus and spoke among themselves as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Now both the high priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that if anyone knew where he was he should show it, that they might take him.

8 For I also am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say unto one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word and believes him that sent me has eternal life and shall not come into judgment but has passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour shall come, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father has life in himself, so has he given to the Son to have life in himself

1 ¶ And the hand of the LORD was upon me and took me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the midst of a field which was full of bones,
2 and caused me to pass by them round about; and, behold, there were very many upon the face of the field; and they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
4 Then he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones hear the word of the LORD.
5 Thus hath the Lord GOD said unto these bones: Behold, I will cause spirit to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay nerves upon you and will bring up flesh upon you and cover you with skin and put spirit in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded, and as I prophesied, there was a thunder, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And I beheld, and behold nerves upon them and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no spirit in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the spirit, prophesy, son of man, and say to the spirit, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Come from the four winds, O spirit, and breathe upon these slain, and they shall live.
10 And I prophesied as he commanded me, and the spirit entered into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

23 ¶ The same day the Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24 saying, Master, Moses said, If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers, and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no seed, left his wife unto his brother;
26 likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27 And last of all the woman died also.
28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29 Then Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which is spoken unto you by God, who saith,
32 I AM the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Acts 23:6-9
6 ¶ But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, and of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the multitude was divided.
8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.
9 And there arose a great cry; and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man, but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, That every one who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day.
John 6:44
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who has sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day.

Romans 5:17-19
17 For if by one offense, death reigned because of one man; much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of gifts and of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus the Christ.
18 Therefore, in the same manner that by the iniquity of one guilt came upon all men unto condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one, grace came upon all men unto justification of life.
19 For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Romans 8:2
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ, Jesus, has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:10-11
10 ¶ But if Christ is in you, the body is truly dead because of sin, but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness.
11 And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised up the Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.
Romans 8:38-39
1 Corinthians 15:20-26
20 ¶ But now Christ is risen from the dead and become the firstfruits of those that slept.
21 For since by a man came death, by a man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in the Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward, those that are Christ’s at his coming.
24 Then comes the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father, when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25 For he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
1 Corinthians 15:29
29 Else what shall they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
1 Corinthians 15:43-57
43 it is sown in dishonour, it shall be raised with glory; it is sown in weakness, it shall be raised with power;
44 it is sown a natural body, it shall be raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a life-giving Spirit.
46 Howbeit the spiritual is not first, but the natural; and afterward, that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord of heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are those also that are earthy; and as is the heavenly, such also are those that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
51 ¶ Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall all indeed be raised, but we shall not all be changed;
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised without corruption, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the word that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O Hades, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:14
14 knowing that he who raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise us up also by Jesus and shall present us with you.
2 Corinthians 5:1-8
1 ¶ For we know that if the earthly house of this our habitation were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven,
3 if so be that we shall be found clothed and not naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened, for we do not desire to be unclothed, but to be clothed upon with life swallowing up that which is mortal.
5 Now he that has made us for this same thing is God, who has likewise given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord
7 (for we walk by faith, not by sight).
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Hebrews 11:13-16
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but seeing them afar off and believing them and embracing them and confessing that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For those that say such things declare plainly that they seek their native country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from which they came out, they might have had time to have returned.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one; therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
1 John 1:1-2
1 ¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life
2 (for the life is manifested, and we also saw it and bear witness and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father and appeared unto us);

11 ¶ And I saw a great white throne and him that was seated upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and their place was not found.
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened; which is the book of life; and the dead were judged by those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and Hades delivered up the dead which were in them; and the judgment of each one was according to their works.
14 And Hades and death were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

3 And they set the altar upon its bases, for fear was upon them because of the peoples of those lands, and they offered burnt offerings upon it unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.

3 And he read in the book before the plaza that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
4 And Ezra, the scribe, stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Urijah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchiah, Hashum, Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

10 Then he said unto them, Go, eat the fat, and drink sweet wine, and send portions unto those who have nothing prepared; for this day is holy unto our Lord, and not sad; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
11 So the Levites caused all the people to be silent, saying, Be silent, for the day is holy; neither be ye sad.
