¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David. ¶ Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man; preserve me from the man of violence. ² Who devise evil in their heart; they are continually gathered together for war. ³ They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah. ⁴ Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the man of violence, who have purposed to overthrow my steps. ⁵ The proud have hid a snare for me and cords; they have spread a net; on the path they have set snares for me. Selah. ⁶ I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD. ⁷ O GOD the Lord, the strength of my saving health, cover thou my head in the day of battle. ⁸ ¶ Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked; do not further his wicked thought lest they exalt themselves. Selah. ⁹ As for the head of those that compass me about, let the perversion of their own lips cover them. ¹⁰ Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into deep pits, that they not rise up again. ¹¹ The man with an evil tongue shall not be established in the earth; evil shall hunt the man of violence to overthrow him. ¹² I know that the LORD will effect the judgment of the poor and the judgment of the destitute. ¹³ Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name; the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

¹³ Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, with thy sword;

⁴⁸ He delivers me from my enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the one who would betray me.

¹ ¶ Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against those who are not merciful; O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

¹ To the Overcomer upon,
Do not destroy, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. ¶ Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those that rise up against me. ² Deliver me from the workers of iniquity and save me from bloodthirsty men. ³ For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul; the strong are gathered against me; I am not in rebellion, nor in sin, O LORD.

⁴ Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the perverse and violent man.

⁴ Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the man of violence, who have purposed to overthrow my steps.

¹¹ The man with an evil tongue shall not be established in the earth; evil shall hunt the man of violence to overthrow him.

² O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear; and raise my voice unto thee because of the violence, and thou wilt not save? ³ Why dost thou cause me to see iniquity and cause me to behold grievance and destruction and violence before me, in addition to those that raise up strife and contention?

¹⁹ ¶ Then those of Ziph came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the woods in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right hand side of the wilderness? ²⁰ Now, therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down, and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand. ²¹ And Saul said, Blessed are ye of the LORD, for ye have compassion on me. ²² Go, I pray you, prepare yet and know and see his place where he places his foot and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he deals with great prudence. ²³ See, therefore, and take knowledge of all the hiding places where he hides himself and come again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you; and it shall come to pass, if he is in the land that I will search him out with all the thousands of Judah. ²⁴ And they arose and went to Ziph before Saul, but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon in the plain on the right hand side of the wilderness.

¹¹ Moreover, my father, see; see the skirt of thy robe is even in my hand, for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe and did not kill thee, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou doest hunt my life to take it. ¹² The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee, but my hand shall not be upon thee.

¹ ¶ And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does David not hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon? ² Then Saul arose and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph. ³ And Saul pitched camp in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the wilderness by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he perceived that Saul came after him into the wilderness. ⁴ David, therefore, sent out spies and understood that Saul was indeed come. ⁵ And David arose and came to the place where Saul had pitched camp, and David beheld the place where Saul lay and Abner, the son of Ner, the captain of his host. And Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him. ⁶ ¶ Then David spoke and said to Ahimelech, the Hittite, and to Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee. ⁷ So David and Abishai came to the people by night, and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench and his spear stuck in the ground at his head, but Abner and the people lay round about him. ⁸ Then Abishai said to David, God has delivered thy enemy into thy hand today; now, therefore, let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear and pin him to the earth at once, and I will not need a second opportunity. ⁹ And David said to Abishai, Do not destroy him, for who has stretched forth his hand against the LORD’s anointed, and remained innocent? ¹⁰ David said furthermore, As the LORD lives, if the LORD does not smite him or his day comes to die or he descends into battle and perishes, ¹¹ the LORD forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against the LORD’s anointed; but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his head and the cruse of water and let us go. ¹² So David took the spear and the cruse of water that were at Saul’s head, and they went, and no one saw it nor knew it neither awaked, for they were all asleep because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen upon them. ¹³ ¶ Then David went over to the other side and stood out of the way on the top of the mountain, a great space being between them; ¹⁴ and David cried to the people and to Abner, the son of Ner, saying, Dost thou not answer, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that dost cry to the king? ¹⁵ And David said to Abner, Art not thou a man? And who is there like unto thee in Israel? Why then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? For one of the people came in to destroy the king thy lord. ¹⁶ This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD lives, ye are worthy to die because ye have not kept your master, the LORD’s anointed. And now see where the king’s spear is and the cruse of water that was at his head. ¹⁷ And Saul knew David’s voice and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king. ¹⁸ And he said, Why does my lord thus pursue after his slave? What have I done? What evil is in my hand? ¹⁹ Now, therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his slave. If the LORD has stirred thee up against me, let him smell the fragrance of an offering, but if they were the sons of men, let them be cursed before the LORD, for they have driven me out this day from joining myself to the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods. ²⁰ Now therefore, do not let my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD, for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains. ²¹ ¶ Then Saul said, I have sinned; return, my son David; for I will do no more harm unto thee because my life was precious in thine eyes today. Behold, I have played the fool and have erred exceedingly. ²² And David answered and said, Behold the king’s spear! Let one of the servants come over and take it. ²³ The LORD render to each one his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the LORD delivered thee into my hand today, but I would not stretch forth my hand against the LORD’s anointed. ²⁴ And, behold, as thy life has been esteemed today in my eyes, so let my life be esteemed in the eyes of the LORD and let him deliver me out of all affliction. ²⁵ Then Saul said to David, Blessed art thou, my son David; without a doubt thou shalt do great things and prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

¹ ¶ Why do the Gentiles rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing? ² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his anointed, saying,

¹¹ For they intended evil against thee; they imagined a wicked device, but they did not prevail.

⁴ He devises iniquity upon his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil.

¹² ¶ Those that seek after my life lay snares for me, and those that seek my hurt speak calamities and imagine deceits all the day long.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps when they wait for my soul.

³ How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? Shall ye murder each other until ye are as a bowing wall and as a tottering fence?

⁵ They encourage themselves in an evil matter; they attempt to hide the snares; they say, Who shall see them? ⁶ They search out iniquities; they perfect and put into effect that which they have invented in the inward thought of each one of them and that which they have devised in their heart.

⁷ I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

²⁰ ¶ Deceit is in the heart of those whose thoughts are evil, but joy in that of those whose thoughts are good.

⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven while they lie in wait; their baker sleeps all night; in the morning it burns as a flaming fire.

¹ ¶ Woe unto those that devise iniquity and fabricate evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they put it into effect because they have power in their hands. ² And they coveted fields and stole them, and houses and took them away; so they oppressed the man and his house, even the man and his heritage. ³ Therefore thus hath the LORD said; Behold, I devise an evil against this family, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye walk haughtily; for the time shall be evil.

¹¹ He has come out of thee that has imagined evil against the LORD, a counsellor of Belial.

¹³ Then the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.

² Thy tongue devises wickedness like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. ³ Thou dost love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

⁴ My soul is among lions, and I lie even among those that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁴ Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; they are like the deaf adder that stops her ear,

⁷ Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for who, say they, doth hear?

³ Who whet their tongue like a sword and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words ⁴ That they may shoot in secret at the perfect; suddenly do they shoot at him and fear not.

¹⁸ ¶ There are those that speak like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise is medicine.

³² At the last it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder.

³ For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips pronounce lies; your tongue speaks evil. ⁴ No one calls for righteousness, nor do any judge by the truth; they trust in vanity, and speak vanities; they conceive trouble and bring forth iniquity. ⁵ They hatch cockatrice’ eggs and weave the spider’s web; whosoever shall eat of their eggs shall die, and if they should squeeze them, a viper shall come out.

¹³ To rebel and to lie against the LORD, and to depart away from our God; the speaking of libel and rebellion, to conceive, and to speak from the heart words of falsehood,

³ And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies, but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth for they proceed from evil to evil, and they did not recognize me, said the LORD.

⁵ And they will deceive each one his neighbour and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

³⁴ O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

¹³ Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, ¹⁴ whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness;

³ But I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve through his craftiness, so your senses should be corrupted in some way, and ye should fall from the simplicity that is in the Christ.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every nature of beasts and of birds and of serpents and of beings in the sea may be tamed and is tamed by mankind, ⁸ but no man can tame the tongue, which is an evil that cannot be restrained and is full of deadly poison.

⁵ Sustain my steps in thy ways that my footsteps not slip.

⁸ ¶ Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me with the shadow of thy wings, ⁹ from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

¹¹ Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

³² Tzaddi The wicked watches the righteous and seeks to slay him. ³³ The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. ³⁴ ¶ Koph Wait on the LORD and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the earth; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. ³⁵ Resh I have seen the wicked in great power and spreading himself like a green bay tree. ³⁶ Yet he passed away, and, behold, he was not: I sought him, but he could not be found. ³⁷ Schin Mark the perfect, and behold the upright, for the end of each one of them is peace. ³⁸ But the rebels were destroyed all together; the wicked were cut off in the end. ³⁹ Tau But the salvation of the righteous is the LORD; he is their strength in the time of trouble. ⁴⁰ And the LORD helped them and delivers them; he shall deliver them from the wicked and save them because they wait in him.

A Psalm of David. ¶ Give ear to my prayer, O God, and do not hide thyself from my supplication. ² Attend unto me and hear me: I mourn in my complaint and make a noise ³ because of the voice of the enemy because of the oppression of the wicked; for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

⁵ ¶ To respect the person of the wicked so that the righteous loses that which is rightfully his is not good.

⁹ The snare shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.

⁴ The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, does not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. ⁵ His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his enemies, he puffs at them. ⁶ He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved, for I shall never be in adversity. ⁷ His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. ⁸ He sits in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places he murders the innocent: his eyes are secretly set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to catch the poor: he catches the poor when he draws him into his net. ¹⁰ He crouches and hides himself, and many are those who fall under his power. ¹¹ He has said in his heart, God has forgotten; he hides his face; he will never see it. ¹² ¶ Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand; forget not the humble.

⁸ ¶ Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me with the shadow of thy wings, ⁹ from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. ¹⁰ They are closed in with their own fat; with their mouth they speak proudly. ¹¹ They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes upon throwing us down to the earth ¹² like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. ¹³ Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, with thy sword;

⁴ Thou shalt pull me out of the net that they have laid in secret for me; for thou art my strength.

⁷ For without cause they have hid their net for me in a pit, which without cause they have dug for my soul.

⁶ They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down; they have dug a pit before me, into the midst of which they are fallen themselves. Selah.

⁶⁹ ¶ The proud have forged a lie against me, but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

⁸⁵ ¶ The proud have dug pits for me, but they do not proceed according to thy law.

¹¹⁰ The wicked have laid a snare for me; yet did not I err from thy precepts.

³ Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we are exceedingly weary of being held in contempt. ⁴ Our soul is exceedingly weary of the scorning of those that are at ease and of the contempt of the proud.

⁹ Keep me from the hands of the snare which they have laid for me, and from the snares of the workers of iniquity. ¹⁰ Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, whilst I pass on ahead forever.

³ When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou didst know my path. In the way in which I walked have they secretly laid a snare for me.

⁵ ¶ The man that flatters his neighbour spreads a net for his feet.

¹⁸ ¶ Then they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not consider any of his words.

²⁰ Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them and to turn away thy wrath from them.

²² Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hid snares for my feet.

⁵³ And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently and to provoke him to speak of many things, ⁵⁴ laying wait for him and seeking to catch something out of his mouth that they might accuse him.

²⁰ ¶ And they watched him and sent forth spies who feigned themselves just men that they might take hold of him as he was speaking, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. ²¹ And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither dost thou accept the person of any, but teachest the way of God with truth; ²² Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar or no? ²³ But he, perceiving their craftiness, said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

² I said unto the LORD, Thou art my goodness: I have no goodness apart from thee;

⁵ The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup; thou dost maintain my lot. ⁶ The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a beautiful inheritance.

⁷ ¶ Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me and answer me. ⁸ My heart has spoken unto me from thee, Seek my face. Thy face, O LORD, will I seek.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent unto me lest, if thou be silent unto me, I become like those that go down into the grave. ² Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward the oracle of thy holiness.

¹⁴ But I trusted in thee, O LORD; I said, Thou art my God.

A Psalm of David. ¶ Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer; preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

² I will say of the LORD, He is my hope and my fortress: my God; in him will I secure myself.

¹ ¶ I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.

⁵⁷ ¶ CHETH My portion, O LORD, I have said, will be to keep thy words.

² Lord, hear my voice; let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

⁵ I cried unto thee, O LORD; I said, Thou art my hope and my portion in the land of the living.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my supplications for the sake of thy truth; answer me for the sake of thy righteousness.

²⁴ Chet The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore I will wait for him.

⁹ And I will put the third part into the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; He shall call on my name, and I will hear him; I will say, My people, and he shall say, The LORD is my God.

²⁷ The habitation of God is eternal, and underneath the everlasting arms; he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee and shall say, Destroy them. ²⁸ Then Israel, the fountain of Jacob, shall dwell in safety alone in a land of grain and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. ²⁹ Blessed art thou, O Israel, who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help and the sword of thy excellency? Thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee, and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

³⁶ Whether it was a lion or a bear thy slave would kill it, and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has dishonoured the armies of the living God. ³⁷ David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

⁴⁵ Then David said to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword and with a spear and with a shield, but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of the hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast dishonoured. ⁴⁶ This day the LORD will deliver thee into my hand, and I will smite thee and take thy head from thee, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the heaven and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. ⁴⁷ And all this congregation shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear, for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands. ⁴⁸ ¶ And it came to pass when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David that David hastened and ran to do battle against the Philistine. ⁴⁹ And David put his hand in his bag and took a stone from there and slang it and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone remained sunk into his forehead, and he fell upon his face to the earth. ⁵⁰ So David overcame the Philistine with a sling and with a stone and smote the Philistine and slew him, but there was no sword in the hand of David. ⁵¹ Therefore David ran and stood upon the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and slew him and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw their giant was dead, they fled.

⁶ Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became slaves to David, bringing presents. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.

¹⁴ And he put garrisons in Edom; he put garrisons throughout all Edom, and all those of Edom became David’s slaves. And the LORD saved David wherever he went.

¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David, the slave of the LORD, who spoke unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, ¶ I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. ² The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

³⁵ In the same manner thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand will hold me up, and thy meekness shall multiply me.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise him. ⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

¹⁷ Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing, for God is my defence and the God of my mercy.

² He only is my rock and my saving health; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

⁷ In God is my saving health and my glory; the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God.

²⁶ He shall call me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my saving health.

¹ ¶ O come, let us bring joy unto the LORD; let us sing with joy unto the rock of our saving health.

¹⁰ Thou, he who gives salvation unto kings, who redeems David his slave from the evil sword.

² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me.

²⁷ if I did not fear the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should become vain and lest they should say, Our high hand has done this and not the LORD.

³¹ ¶ And it was told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. Then David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into folly.

¹² He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise. ¹³ He takes the wise in their own prudence, and the counsel of his adversaries is turned to folly.

² The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. ³ For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

¹² Deliver me not over unto the will of my enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me and such as breathe out cruelty.

²⁰ Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, who creates toil under the guise of law? ²¹ They gather themselves together as an army against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood.

¹⁴ Then said Zeresh, his wife, and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows {Heb. stake} be made fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged upon it; then go in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman, and he caused the gallows to be made.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath was pacified.

¹⁶ His work shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

⁸ So they shall make their own council and agreements to fall upon themselves; all that see them shall flee away.

²³ And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

⁶ ¶ Blessings are upon the head of the just, but the mouth of the wicked covers violence.

¹¹ ¶ The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life, but the mouth of the wicked covers violence.

¹³ ¶ The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips, but the just shall come out of the tribulation.

⁷ A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

²⁵ Then all the people answered and said, His blood be on us and on our children.

²⁴ ¶ Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of the heavens;

²³ And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven, and the LORD raised his voice and it hailed, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. ²⁴ So there was hail and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became inhabited.

⁶ Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, with winds of whirlwinds: this shall be the portion of their cup.

¹³ The LORD thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. ¹⁴ He sent out his arrows and scattered them; he shot out lightnings and destroyed them.

⁹ Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger; the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

²³ But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of the grave; bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days, but I will trust in thee.

⁴ Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

¹⁰ ¶ Whosoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit, but the perfect shall inherit every good thing.

¹⁷ ¶ A man that does violence to the blood of any person shall flee all the way to the grave, and no one shall sustain him.

²⁰ And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. ²¹ Then these men were bound in their coats, their undergarments, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²² Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. ²³ And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²⁴ Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste and spoke and said unto his counsellors, Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. ²⁵ He answered and said, Behold, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

⁴² and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

⁸ ¶ And the fourth angel poured out his vial against the sun; and it was given unto it to scorch men with fire. ⁹ And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, who has authority over these plagues; and they did not repent to give him glory.

¹⁵ And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

⁸ But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

¹⁴ Behold, he travails with iniquity and has conceived of his own work and brought forth falsehood. ¹⁵ He made a pit and deepened it and shall fall into the ditch which he made. ¹⁶ His work shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

¹⁶ The LORD is known by the judgment which he has executed; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion (meditate on this for ever). Selah.

³ The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things: ⁴ Who have said, With our tongue we will prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

²¹ Schin Evil shall slay the wicked; and those that hate the righteous shall be declared guilty.

¹⁷ A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

²¹ ¶ Evil pursues sinners, but to the righteous good shall be repaid.

²⁰ ¶ He that has a perverse heart shall never find good, and he that stirs up trouble with his tongue shall fall into evil.

²¹ ¶ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those that love it shall eat its fruit.

¹¹ Woe unto the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for according to the work of his hands it shall be done unto him.

⁴⁵ thou shalt hear in the heavens their prayer and their supplication and do their judgment.

⁴⁹ thou shalt hear in the heavens, in the habitation of thy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplication and do what is right unto them

⁴ For thou hast accomplished my judgment and my cause; thou didst sit in the throne judging according to righteousness.

¹⁷ LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart; thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: ¹⁸ to judge the fatherless and the oppressed that the man of the earth may no longer oppress.

²⁴ For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the poor in spirit; neither has he hid his face from him, but when he cried unto him, he heard.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, who delivers the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoils him?

⁴ He shall judge the poor of the people; he shall save the children of the destitute and shall break in pieces the violent.

¹² For he shall deliver the destitute when he cries and the poor that has no helper. ¹³ He shall have mercy on the poor and destitute and shall save the souls of the poor in spirit. ¹⁴ He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence, and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

¹⁷ He shall have regarded the prayer of those who are alone and destitute and not despised their prayer.

²² ¶ Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither destroy the destitute in judgment:

¹⁰ ¶ Do not remove the old landmark, and do not enter into the inheritance of the fatherless: ¹¹ For their redeemer is mighty; he shall judge their cause against thee.

⁴ But with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the spirit of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him. Is this not to know me? said the LORD.

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

⁷ For the righteous LORD loves righteousness; his countenance beholds the upright.

¹¹ Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will rest in the house of the LORD for ever.

¹¹ Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, ye righteous, and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

²⁴ Thou hast guided me with thy counsel, and afterward thou shalt receive me unto glory.

¹² Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

¹⁰ Say unto the righteous that it shall be well with him, for they shall eat of the fruit of their doings.

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

²⁴ ¶ Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am, that they may behold my clarity, which thou hast given me, for thou hast loved me from before the foundation of the world.

¹⁷ then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

¹⁴ And I said unto him, lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are those who came out of great tribulation and have washed their long robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple, and he that is seated on the throne shall dwell among them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more neither thirst anymore; neither shall the sun be thrust upon them nor any other heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall govern them and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

²⁴ And the Gentiles that have been saved shall walk in the light of her; and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory and honour into her. ²⁵ And her gates shall never be shut by day; for there shall be no night there. ²⁶ And they shall bring the glory and the honour of the Gentiles into it. ²⁷ And there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean or that works abomination or makes a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
