⁸ The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

⁵ because Abraham hearkened unto my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

¹⁶ When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I declare unto them the statutes of God and his laws.

⁵ Behold, I have taught you statutes and rights, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do thus in the midst of the land where ye are about to enter in to possess it. ⁶ Keep them, therefore, and do them, for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

¹¹ then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; there shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the offerings of your hand and all your choice of vows which ye vow unto the LORD; ¹² and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye and your sons and your daughters and your menslaves and your maidslaves and the Levite that is within your gates because he has no part nor inheritance with you.

¹¹ And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou and thy son and thy daughter and thy manslave and thy maidslave and the Levite that is within thy gates and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God has chosen to place his name there.

¹⁴ And thou shalt rejoice in thy solemn feast, thou and thy son and thy daughter and thy manslave and thy maidslave and the Levite and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow, that are within thy gates (or within thy towns).

¹² And all the people went to eat and to drink and to send portions and to rejoice with great joy because they had understood the words that were taught unto them.

¹³ Thou didst come down upon Mount Sinai and didst speak with them from heaven and didst give them right judgments and true laws, good statutes and commandments,

⁶ The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

³ Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes lest I sleep the sleep of death,

⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my bowels.

¹² ¶ Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

¹⁴ I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies as above all riches.

¹⁶ I will delight myself in thy statutes; I will not forget thy words.

²⁴ ¶ For thy testimonies are my delight and my counsellors.

¹⁰⁵ ¶ NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my way.

¹²¹ ¶ AIN. I have complied with judgment and righteousness; do not leave me to my oppressors.

¹²⁸ Therefore I have esteemed all thy precepts concerning all things to be right and I have hated every false way.

¹³⁰ ¶ The exposition of thy words gives light; it gives understanding unto the simple.

¹⁴³ ¶ Trouble and anguish found me; but thy commandments were my delights.

¹⁷¹ ¶ My lips shall overflow with praise when thou hast taught me thy statutes.

⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and intelligence.

²³ For the commandment is fire, and the law is light; and reproofs of chastening are the way of life,

⁵ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto those that put their trust in him.

⁵ Thou didst come out to meet him that with rejoicing had worked righteous ness. In thy ways they remembered thee. Behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: thy ways are eternal, and we shall be saved.

¹⁶ Thy words were found, and I ate them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for thy name was called upon me, O LORD God of the hosts.

²⁷ And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my commandments, and ye shall keep my rights, and do them.

¹⁷ ¶ Behold, thou doth call thyself a Jew and art supported by the law and doth glory in God ¹⁸ and dost know his will and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law, ¹⁹ and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of children, who hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.

²⁰ For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

⁷ ¶ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? No, in no wise. But, I did not know sin except by the law; for neither would I have known lust if the law did not say, Thou shalt not covet.

¹² So the law is truly holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. ¹³ Was then that which is good made death unto me? No, in no wise. But sin, to show itself sin by that which is good, worked death in me, making sin exceedingly sinful by the commandment. ¹⁴ ¶ For we now know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold unto subjection by sin.

²² For I delight with the law of God with the inward man,

¹⁹ For through the law I am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. ¹¹ But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident, for The just shall live by faith. ¹² And the law is not of faith, but The man that does the commandments shall live by them. ¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, (for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree),

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? No, in no wise, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
