Shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? In the beds where it grew it shall wither.'

²² Thus saith the Lord GOD: Moreover I will take, even I, of the lofty top of the cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it upon a high mountain and eminent; ²³ in the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it; and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a stately cedar; and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing, in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. ²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I the LORD have spoken and have done it.'

²³ (4:20) And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying: Hew down the tree, and destroy it; nevertheless leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even in a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him - ²⁴ (4:21) this is the interpretation, O king, and it is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my lord the king, ²⁵ (4:22) that thou shalt be driven from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and thou shalt be made to eat grass as oxen, and shalt be wet with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee; till thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will.

³⁵ (4:32) And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and He doeth according to His will in the host of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay His hand, or say unto Him: What doest Thou?

²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE, God hath numbered thy kingdom, and brought it to an end.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sin, and to forgive iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal vision and prophet, and to anoint the most holy place.

³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak strange things against the God of gods; and he shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall be done.

²⁹ But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye are led astray, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. ³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven. ³¹ But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, ³² I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

⁸ Why is it judged incredible with you, if God doth raise the dead?

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:

¹² Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned:—

⁸ and they that are in the flesh cannot please God. ⁹ But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

³⁶ Thou foolish one, that which thou thyself sowest is not quickened except it die:

⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption: ⁴³ it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power: ⁴⁴ it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery; We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed, ⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

³ among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:—

¹⁴ whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For it will be a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then also vanisheth away.

⁷ Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient for it, until it receive the early and latter rain. ⁸ Be ye also patient, establish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

²⁴ For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth:

¹⁹ Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

⁷ but the heavens that now are, and the earth, by his word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing then that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

²⁸ And now, my little children, abide in him, that, when he shall be manifested, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
