¹ And he said to his disciples, "It is impossible for causes for stumbling not to come, but woe to him through whom they come! ² It would be better for him if _⌊a millstone_⌋* is placed around his neck and he is thrown into the sea than that he causes one of these little ones to sin. ³ "Be concerned about yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. ⁴ And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times he returns to you saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive him." ⁵ And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" ⁶ So the Lord said, "If you have faith like a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you. ⁷ "And which of you who has a slave plowing or shepherding sheep* who comes in from the field will say to him, 'Come here at once and* recline at the table'? ⁸ Will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something that I may eat, and dress yourself to serve me while I eat and drink, and after these things you will eat and drink.' ⁹ He will not _⌊be grateful_⌋* to the slave because he did what was ordered, will he?* ¹⁰ Thus you also, when you have done all the _⌊things you were ordered to do_⌋,* say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done what we were obligated to do.'" ¹¹ And it happened that while traveling toward Jerusalem, he was passing through _⌊the region between_⌋* Samaria and Galilee. ¹² And as* he was entering into a certain village, ten men met him**—lepers, who stood at a distance. ¹³ And they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" ¹⁴ And when he* saw them* he said to them, "Go and* show yourselves to the priests." And it happened that as they were going, they were cleansed. ¹⁵ But one of them, when he* saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. ¹⁶ And he fell on his face at his feet, giving thanks to him. And he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ So Jesus answered and* said, "Were not ten cleansed? And where are the nine? ¹⁸ Was no one found to turn back and* give praise to God except this foreigner?" ¹⁹ And he said to him, "Get up and* go your way. Your faith has saved you." ²⁰ Now when he* was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them and said, "The kingdom of God does not come with _⌊things that can be observed_⌋,* ²¹ nor will they say, 'Behold, here it is!' or 'There!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst." ²² And he said to the disciples, "Days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.* ²³ And they will say to you, 'Behold, there!' 'Behold, here!'* Do not go out or run after them!* ²⁴ For just as the lightning shines forth, flashing from one place under heaven to another place under heaven, so the Son of Man will be in his day. ²⁵ But first it is necessary for him to suffer many things, and to be rejected by this generation. ²⁶ And just as it was in the days of Noah, so also it will be in the days of the Son of Man— ²⁷ they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building. ²⁹ But on the day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and sulphur from heaven and destroyed them all. ³⁰ It will be _⌊just the same_⌋* on the day that the Son of Man is revealed. ³¹ On that day, whoever is on the housetop and his goods are in the house must not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field must not turn back ³² Remember Lot's wife! ³³ Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it* will keep it. ³⁴ I tell you that in that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. ³⁵ There will be two women* grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left."* ³⁷ And they answered and* said to him, "Where, Lord?" So he said to them, "Where the dead body is, there also the vultures will be gathered."

²³ But he turned around and* said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a cause for stumbling to me, because you are not intent on the things of God, but the things of people!"

⁷ Woe to the world because of causes for stumbling, for it is a necessity that causes for stumbling come; nevertheless, woe to the person through whom the cause for stumbling comes.

¹³ Therefore, let us no longer pass judgment on one another, but rather decide this: not to place a cause for stumbling or a temptation before a brother.

²⁰ Do not destroy the work of God on account of food. All things are clean, but it is wrong for the person _⌊who eats and stumbles in the process_⌋*. ²¹ It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine or to do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is weakened.*

¹⁷ Now I exhort you, brothers, to look out for those who cause dissensions and temptations contrary to the teaching which you learned, and stay away from them.

¹³ Therefore, if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat _⌊forever_⌋*, in order that I may not cause my brother to sin.

³² _⌊Give no offense_⌋* both to Jews and to Greeks and to the church of God,

¹⁹ For indeed it is necessary that there be factions among you, in order that those who are approved may become evident among you.

¹⁰ and with every unrighteous deception against those who are perishing, in place of which they did not accept the love of the truth, so that they would be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God sends them _⌊a powerful delusion_⌋* so that they will believe the lie, ¹² in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you: that you have there those who hold fast to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

²⁰ But I have against you that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, the one who calls herself a prophetess, and teaches and deceives my slaves to commit sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.

¹⁴ And he deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs that it has been granted to him to perform on behalf of the beast, telling those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast who has the wound of the sword and yet lived. ¹⁵ And it was given to him to put breath into the image of the beast, in order that the image of the beast both spoke and caused that all those, unless they worshiped the image of the beast, should be killed. ¹⁶ And he causes all people, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, that they give them a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, ¹⁷ and that no one was able to buy or to sell except the one who had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of his name. ¹⁸ Here is wisdom: the one who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number,* and his number is six hundred sixty-six.*

¹¹ He will feed his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arm, and he will carry them in his bosom; he will lead those who nurse.

⁷ "O sword, awake against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh of hosts. "Strike the shepherd, so that the sheep* may be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the small ones.

³ and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you turn around and become like young children, you will never enter into the kingdom of heaven! ⁴ Therefore whoever humbles himself like this child, this person is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, ⁵ and whoever welcomes one child such as this in my name welcomes me. ⁶ But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him that _⌊a large millstone_⌋* be hung on* his neck and he be drowned in the depths of the sea.

¹⁰ "See to it that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven constantly see the face of my Father who is in heaven.*

¹⁴ In the same way it is not the will _⌊of_⌋* your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish.

²⁴ The Son of Man is going just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for him if that man had not been born."

⁴² "And whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it is better for him if instead _⌊a large millstone_⌋* is placed around his neck and he is thrown into the sea.

¹⁵ Now when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs!"

¹¹ For the one who is weak—the brother for whom Christ died—is destroyed by your knowledge. ¹² Now if you* sin in this way against the brothers and wound their conscience, which is weak, you sin against Christ.

¹⁵ But I have not made use of any of these rights. And I am not writing these things in order that it may be thus with me. For it would be better to me rather to die than for anyone to deprive me of my reason for boasting.

²² To the weak I became weak, in order that I may gain the weak. I have become all things to all people, in order that by all means I may save some.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, as there will be false teachers among you also, who will bring in _⌊destructive heresies_⌋*, even denying the Master who bought them, thus* bringing on themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their licentious ways, because of whom the way of truth will be reviled. ³ And in greediness they will exploit you with false words, whose condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

¹² Be careful for yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you are going, lest it be a snare among you.

¹⁷ " 'You* shall not hate your* brother in your* heart; you* shall surely rebuke your* fellow citizen, so that you* do not incur sin _⌊along with_⌋* him.

⁹ "However, _⌊take care_⌋* for yourself and watch your inner self* closely, so that you do not forget the things that your eyes have seen, so that they do not slip from your mind all the days of your life; and you shall make them known to your children and to _⌊your grandchildren_⌋.*

¹⁵ "So _⌊you must be very careful for yourselves_⌋,* because you did not see* any form on the day Yahweh spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire,

²³ Watch out for yourselves so that you do not forget the covenant of Yahweh your God that he had _⌊made_⌋* with you and make for yourselves a divine image of the form of anything that Yahweh your God _⌊has forbidden_⌋,*

⁶ And he said to the judges, "Consider what you are doing, for you are not judging for a man but for Yahweh. Now he is with you in speaking justice. ⁷ So now, let the fear of Yahweh be upon you all. _⌊Be careful what you do_⌋,* for there is neither wickedness nor _⌊showing partiality_⌋* and taking bribes with Yahweh our God."

⁵ Let a righteous one strike me in kindness, and let him chasten me. It is oil for my head;* let not my head refuse. For still my prayer is against their evil deeds.

⁸ Do not rebuke a scoffer, lest he hate you; rebuke the wise and he will love you.

¹⁰ A rebuke strikes him who understands deeper than one hundred blows to a fool.

⁵ Better a rebuke that is open than a love that is hidden.

¹⁵ "Now if your brother sins against you, go correct him between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. ¹⁶ But if he does not listen, take with you in addition one or two others, so that by _⌊the testimony_⌋* of two or three witnesses every matter may be established. ¹⁷ And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it* to the church. But if he refuses to listen to the church also, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

²¹ Then Peter came up to him and* said,* "Lord, how many times will my brother sin against me and I will forgive him? Up to seven times?"

³⁴ "But take care for yourselves, lest your hearts are weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of daily life, and that day come upon you suddenly

¹¹ But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was condemned. ¹² For before certain people came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles, but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he* was afraid of those who were of the circumcision, ¹³ and the rest of the Jews also joined in this hypocrisy with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with them in their hypocrisy. ¹⁴ But when I saw that they were not being straightforward with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of them all, "If you, although you* are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you try to compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?"

¹⁵ Therefore, consider carefully how you live, not as unwise but as wise,

¹⁵ Take care that no one falls short of the grace of God; that no one growing up like a root of bitterness causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;

¹⁹ My brothers, if anyone among you should wander away from the truth and someone turns him back,

⁸ Watch yourselves that you do not lose what we have worked for, but receive a full reward.

⁴⁴ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

¹² and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

¹⁴ For if you forgive people their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ¹⁵ But if you do not forgive people, neither will your Father forgive your sins.

¹⁶ But if he does not listen, take with you in addition one or two others, so that by _⌊the testimony_⌋* of two or three witnesses every matter may be established.

²¹ Then Peter came up to him and* said,* "Lord, how many times will my brother sin against me and I will forgive him? Up to seven times?" ²² Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven!*

³⁵ So also my heavenly Father will do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from your hearts!"

²⁰ But "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by* doing this, you will heap up coals of fire upon his head."*

⁴ Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, it does not boast, it does not become conceited, ⁵ it does not behave dishonorably, it _⌊is not selfish_⌋*, it does not become angry, it does not keep a record of wrongs, ⁶ it does not rejoice at unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

³¹ All bitterness, and rage, and wrath, and clamor, and abusive speech, must be removed from you, together with all wickedness. ³² Become* kind toward one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as also God in Christ has forgiven you.

¹² Therefore, as the chosen of God, holy and dearly loved, put on affection, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, ¹³ putting up with one another and forgiving one another. If anyone should have a complaint against anyone, just as also the Lord forgave you, thus also you do the same.

¹³ But as for you, brothers, do not be discouraged while* doing what is right. ¹⁴ But if anyone does not obey our message through this letter, take note not to associate with him, in order that he may be put to shame.

³⁰ And the apostles regathered to Jesus and reported to him everything that they had done and that they had taught.

²⁴ Immediately the father of the child cried out and* said, "I believe! Help my unbelief!"

¹³ And when* the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, "Do not weep!"

⁸ Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would depart from me. ⁹ And he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, because the* power is perfected in weakness." Therefore rather I will boast most gladly in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may reside in me. ¹⁰ Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in calamities, in persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.

¹³ I am able to do all things by the one who strengthens me.

³ We ought to give thanks to God always concerning you, brothers, just as it is fitting, because your faith is flourishing and the love of each one of you all toward one another is increasing

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²² Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for sincere brotherly love, love one another fervently from the heart,* ²³ because you* have been born again, not from perishable seed but imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

³¹ He put before them another parable, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and* sowed in his field. ³² _⌊It_⌋* is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it is grown it is larger than the garden herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the sky come and nest in its branches."

²⁰ And he said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly I say to you, if you have faith like a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."*

²¹ And Jesus answered and* said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will do not only what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea," it will happen!

²³ But Jesus said to him, "If you are able! All things are possible for the one who believes!"

²² And Jesus answered and* said to them, "Have faith in God! ²³ Truly I say to you that whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

¹⁹ It is like a mustard seed that a man took and* sowed in his own garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the sky nested in its branches."

⁴ And he ran on ahead and* climbed up into a sycamore tree so that he could see him, because he was going to go through that way.

² And if I have the gift of prophecy and I know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

¹¹ But he said to them, "What man will there be among you who will have one sheep and if this one fell into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it* out?

¹⁵ But the Lord answered and said to him, "Hypocrites! Does not each one of you untie his ox or his* donkey from the feeding trough on the Sabbath and lead it* away to water it?*

⁵ And he said to them, "Who among you, if your* son or your ox falls into a well* on the day of the Sabbath, will not immediately pull him out?"

¹⁶ When Joseph saw Benjamin with them he said to the one who was over his household, "Bring the men into the house and slaughter and prepare an animal, for the men shall eat with me at noon."

²⁰ David stood up from the ground and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothing. Then he went to the house of Yahweh and worshiped, and he went to his own house. He asked, so they served him food, and he ate.

³⁷ Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he returns! Truly I say to you that he will dress himself for service and have them recline at the table and will come by and* serve them.

¹⁴ And indeed, who am I, and who are my people that we retain power to offer according to these offerings willingly? For everything is from you, and from your hand we have given to you. ¹⁵ For we are strangers before you and sojourners like all our ancestors.* Our days are like the shadow upon earth, and there is no hope of abiding. ¹⁶ O Yahweh our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build for you a house for your holy name is from your hand, and all of it is yours.

² "Can a man be of use to God? Yes, can the wise be of use to him? ³ Is it a pleasure to Shaddai if you are righteous, or* a gain if you make your ways blameless?

⁶ If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against him? And if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him? ⁷ If you are righteous, what do you give to him, or what does he receive from your hand?

² Oh my soul you have said* to Yahweh, "You are my Lord. I have no good apart from you." ³ With regard to the saints who are in the land, they are the noble ones in whom is all my desire.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of Yahweh pursuing them. ⁷ For without cause they secretly hide the pit with their net for me; without cause they dug it for my life.

² All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the spirit.* ³ Commit your work to Yahweh, and your plans will be established.

⁵ And I said, "Woe to me! For I am destroyed!* For I am a man _⌊of unclean lips_⌋,* and I am living among* a people _⌊of unclean lips_⌋,* for my eyes have seen the king, Yahweh of hosts!"

⁶ And we all have become like the unclean, and all our deeds of justice like a menstrual cloth, And we all wither like a leaf, and our iniquities take us away like the wind.

³⁰ And throw the worthless slave into the outer darkness—in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth!'

³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,* or thirsty and give you something* to drink? ³⁸ And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you* as a guest, or naked and clothe you?* ³⁹ And when did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?' ⁴⁰ And the king will answer and* say to them, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did it* to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it* to me.'

¹² All have turned aside together; they have become worthless; There is no one who practices kindness; there is not even one.*

³⁵ Or who has given in advance to him, and it will be paid back to him?"*

¹⁶ For if I proclaim the gospel, it is not to me a reason for boasting, for necessity is imposed on me. For woe is to me if I do not proclaim the gospel. ¹⁷ For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward, but if I do so unwillingly, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been in vain, but I labored even more than all of them, and not I, but the grace of God with me.

⁸ _⌊More than that_⌋*, I even consider all things to be loss because of the surpassing greatness of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for the sake of whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and consider them* dung, in order that I may gain Christ ⁹ and may be found in him, not having my righteousness which is from the law, but which is through faith in Christ,* the righteousness from God on the basis of faith,*

¹¹ Once he was useless to you, but now he is useful to you* and to me,

⁵ In the same way, younger men, be subject to the elders, and all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the right time,

⁵¹ Now it happened that when the days were approaching _⌊for him to be taken up_⌋,* he set his* face to go to Jerusalem. ⁵² And he sent messengers before _⌊him_⌋,* and they went and* entered into a village of the Samaritans in order to prepare for him.

³ he left Judea and departed again for Galilee. ⁴ And it was necessary for him to go through Samaria.

⁴⁵ "As for* the person who is afflicted with a skin disease, his garments must be torn and his _⌊hair_⌋* must be allowed to hang loosely, and he must cover his upper lip, and he must call out, 'Unclean! Unclean!' ⁴⁶ For all the days during which the infection is on him, he shall be unclean; he must live alone; his dwelling must be _⌊outside the camp_⌋."*

² "Command the _⌊Israelites_⌋:* they must send everyone from the camp who is afflicted with a rash,* everyone with a fluid discharge, and everyone unclean through contact with a corpse. ³ You will send away _⌊both male and female_⌋;* you will send them _⌊outside the camp_⌋.* They must not make unclean their camps where I am dwelling in their midst."

¹⁴ But Yahweh said to Moses, "If her father had surely spit in her face, would she not bear her shame for seven days? Let her be confined for seven days to an outside place of the camp, and afterward she may be gathered."

²⁷ The skin disease of Naaman shall cling to you and to your offspring forever." Then he went out from before him having a skin disease like the snow.

³ Now four men who had a skin disease were at the entrance of the gate, and they said _⌊to each other_⌋,* "Why are we sitting here until we die?

²⁰ When Azariah the chief priest and all the priests turned to him, behold, he was leprous in the forehead. So they rushed him away from there, and he also hastened to go out, for Yahweh had smitten him. ²¹ So King Uzziah was leprous until the day of his death, and he lived in a separate house as a leper, for he was cut off from the house of Yahweh. And Jotham his son was over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.

¹² And it happened that while he was in one of the towns, _⌊there was_⌋* a man _⌊covered with leprosy_⌋.* And when he* saw Jesus, he fell down on his face and* begged him, saying, "Lord, if you are willing, you are able to make me clean."

¹³ But the tax collector, standing far away, did not want even to raise his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'

²⁷ And as* Jesus was going away from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"

²² And behold, a Canaanite woman from that district came and cried out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!"

³⁰ And behold, there were two blind men sitting beside the road. When they* heard that Jesus was passing by, they called out, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us,* Son of David!" ³¹ And the crowd rebuked them so that they would be quiet. But they called out all the more, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us,* Son of David!"

²² And often it has thrown him both into fire and into water, in order that it could destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and* help us!"

⁵ And Simon answered and* said, "Master, although we* worked hard through the whole night, we caught nothing. But at your word I will let down the nets."

³⁸ And he called out, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" ³⁹ And those who were in front rebuked him, that he should be silent, but he cried out _⌊even more loudly_⌋,* "Son of David, have mercy on me!"

¹ Then* Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, ² "When a _⌊person_⌋* has on his body's skin a swelling or an epidermal eruption or a spot and it becomes* an infectious skin disease on his body's skin, then* he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests. ³ And the priest shall examine the infection on his body's skin, and if the hair in the infection turns white and the appearance of the infection is deeper than his body's skin, it is an infectious skin disease, and the priest shall examine it, and he shall declare him unclean. ⁴ But* if a spot is white on his body's skin and its appearance is not deeper than the skin and its hair does not turn white, then* the priest shall confine the afflicted person for seven days. ⁵ And the priest shall examine it on the seventh day, and _⌊if_⌋,* in his eyes, the infection has stayed unchanged, the infection has not spread on the skin, then* the priest shall confine him for seven days a second time. ⁶ And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day for a second time, and _⌊if_⌋* the infection has faded and the infection has not spread on the skin, then* the priest shall declare him clean—it is an epidermal eruption; and he shall wash his garments, and so he shall be clean. ⁷ But* if the epidermal eruption spreads further on the skin after showing himself to the priest for his cleansing, then* he shall appear a second time to the priest. ⁸ And the priest shall examine it,* and _⌊if_⌋* the epidermal eruption has spread on the skin, then* the priest shall declare him unclean—it is an infectious skin disease. ⁹ "When an infectious skin disease is on a person and he is brought to the priest, ¹⁰ the priest shall examine it,* and _⌊if_⌋* a white swelling is on the skin and it turns the hair white and _⌊raw flesh_⌋* is in the swelling, ¹¹ it is a chronic infectious skin disease on his body's skin, and the priest shall declare him unclean; he shall not confine him, because he is unclean. ¹² And if the infectious skin disease breaks out all over on the skin and the infectious skin disease covers all of the afflicted person's skin from his head to his feed, _⌊so far as the priest can see_⌋,* ¹³ then* the priest shall examine it,* and _⌊if_⌋* the infectious skin disease covers his whole body, then* he shall pronounce the afflicted person clean—all of it has turned white; he is clean. ¹⁴ But* _⌊whenever_⌋* _⌊raw flesh_⌋* appears on him, he shall become unclean. ¹⁵ And the priest shall examine the _⌊raw flesh_⌋,* and he shall pronounce him unclean—the _⌊raw flesh_⌋* is unclean; it is an infectious skin disease. ¹⁶ Or, when the _⌊raw flesh_⌋* returns and it has changed to white, then* he shall come to the priest, ¹⁷ and the priest shall examine him, and _⌊if_⌋* the infection has changed to white, then* the priest shall pronounce the afflicted person clean—he is clean. ¹⁸ "And when someone's body _⌊has_⌋* a skin sore on his skin and it is healed ¹⁹ and a white swelling or a _⌊pinkish_⌋* spot appears in the skin sore's place, then* he shall show himself to the priest. ²⁰ And the priest shall examine it,* and _⌊if_⌋* its appearance is deeper than the skin and its hair has changed to white, then* the priest shall declare him unclean—it is an infectious skin disease; it has broken out in the skin sore. ²¹ And if the priest examines it and _⌊if_⌋* there is no white hair in it and it is not deeper than the skin and it is faded, then* the priest shall confine him for seven days. ²² But* if it has spread further on the skin, then* the priest shall declare him unclean—it is an infection. ²³ But* if the spot has stayed unchanged, it has not spread, it is the skin sore's scar, so* the priest shall declare him clean. ²⁴ "Or when a body _⌊has_⌋* a burn-spot _⌊from_⌋* fire on its skin and the _⌊raw flesh_⌋* of the burn-spot is _⌊pinkish_⌋* or white, ²⁵ then* the priest shall examine it, and _⌊if_⌋* the hair turns white in the spot and its appearance is deeper than the skin, it is an infectious skin disease—it has broken out in the burn-spot; so* the priest shall declare him unclean—it is an infectious skin disease. ²⁶ But* if the priest examines it and _⌊if_⌋* there is not white hair in the spot and it is not deeper than the skin and it is faded, then* the priest shall confine him for seven days. ²⁷ And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day; if it has spread further on the skin, then* the priest shall declare him unclean—it is an infectious skin disease. ²⁸ But* if it the spot has stayed unchanged in its place, it has not spread on the skin and it is faded, then it is the burn-spot's swelling, so* the priest shall declare him clean, because it is the burn-spot's scar. ²⁹ "And when a man or a woman _⌊has_⌋* an infection on the head or in the beard, ³⁰ then* the priest shall examine the infection, and _⌊if_⌋* its appearance is deeper than the skin and in it is thin bright red hair, then* the priest shall declare it unclean—it is a diseased area of skin; it is an infectious skin disease of the head or the beard. ³¹ But* if the priest examines the diseased area of the skin's infection and _⌊if_⌋* its appearance is not deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, then* the priest shall confine the afflicted person with the diseased area of skin for seven days. ³² And the priest shall examine the infection on the seventh day, and _⌊if_⌋* the diseased area of skin has not spread and it does not have bright red hair in it and the diseased area of the skin's appearance is not deeper than the skin, ³³ then* he shall shave himself, but* he shall not shave the diseased area of skin, and the priest shall confine the person with* the diseased area of skin a second time for seven days. ³⁴ And the priest shall examine the diseased area of skin on the seventh day, and _⌊if_⌋* the diseased area has not spread on the skin and its appearance is not deeper than the skin, then* the priest shall pronounce him clean, and he shall wash his garments, and he shall be clean. ³⁵ But* if the diseased area of skin has not spread further on the skin after his cleansing, ³⁶ then* the priest shall examine him, and _⌊if_⌋* the diseased area of skin has spread on the skin, the priest shall not inspect for bright* red hair—he is unclean. ³⁷ But* if, in his eyes, the diseased area of skin has stayed unchanged and black hair has grown in it, the diseased area of skin is healed—he is clean, and the priest shall pronounce him clean. ³⁸ "And when a man or a woman _⌊has_⌋* spots on their body's skin, white spots, ³⁹ then* the priest shall examine them,* and _⌊if_⌋* the spots on their body's skin are a faded white, it is a skin rash; it has broken out on the skin—it is clean. ⁴⁰ "And if a man becomes bald, his head is bald, he is clean. ⁴¹ And if he becomes bald _⌊from his forehead_⌋,* his head is bald, he is clean. ⁴² But* if a _⌊pinkish_⌋* infection occurs* on the bald spot or on the bald forehead, it is an infectious skin disease that sprouts on his bald spot or on his bald forehead. ⁴³ So* the priest shall examine him, and _⌊if_⌋* the infection's swelling is _⌊pinkish_⌋* on his bald spot or on his bald forehead, like the appearance of an infectious skin disease on* the body, ⁴⁴ he is a man afflicted with a skin disease—he is unclean; the priest certainly shall declare him unclean—his infection is on his head.

¹ Then* Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ² "This is the regulation of the person afflicted with a skin disease _⌊at the time of_⌋* his cleansing. And he shall be brought to the priest, ³ and the priest shall go _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* and the priest shall examine him,* and _⌊if_⌋* the skin disease's infection is healed on* the afflicted person, ⁴ then* the priest shall command, and he shall take two living, clean birds and _⌊cedar wood_⌋* and _⌊a crimson thread_⌋* and hyssop for the one who presents himself for cleansing. ⁵ Then* the priest shall command someone* to slaughter one bird over fresh water in a clay vessel. ⁶ He must take the living bird and the _⌊cedar wood_⌋* and _⌊the crimson thread_⌋* and the hyssop, and he shall dip them and the living bird in the bird's blood slaughtered over the fresh water. ⁷ And he shall spatter the blood* seven times on the one who presents himself for cleansing from the infectious skin disease, and he shall declare him clean, and he shall send the living bird _⌊into the open field_⌋.* ⁸ Then* the one who presents himself for cleansing shall wash his garments, and he shall shave off all his hair, and he shall wash himself in the water; thus* he shall be clean, and afterward he shall enter the camp, but* he shall stay _⌊outside his tent_⌋* for seven days. ⁹ _⌊And then_⌋* on the seventh day he must shave off all his hair—he must shave his head and his beard and _⌊his eyebrows_⌋* and all the rest* of his hair—and he shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body in the water; thus* he shall be clean. ¹⁰ "And on the eighth day he must take two male lambs without defect and one ewe-lamb _⌊in its first year_⌋* without defect and three-tenths of an ephah* of finely milled flour mixed with oil as a grain offering and one log of oil. ¹¹ And the priest who cleanses him* shall present the man who presents himself for cleansing and _⌊these things_⌋* _⌊before_⌋* the tent of assembly's entrance. ¹² Then* the priest shall take the one male lamb, and he shall present it as a guilt offering, and the log of oil, and he shall wave them as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ¹³ And he shall slaughter the male lamb in the place where he slaughters the sin offering and the burnt offering in the sanctuary's space,* because as the sin offering belongs to the priest, so also the guilt offering—_⌊it is a most holy thing_⌋.* ¹⁴ And the priest shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the guilt offering's blood, and the priest shall put it* on the right ear's lobe of the one who presents himself for cleansing and on his right hand's thumb and on his right foot's big toe. ¹⁵ And the priest shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the log of oil, and he shall pour it* on his* left palm; ¹⁶ and the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is on his left palm, and he shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the oil with his finger seven times _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ¹⁷ Then* the priest shall put _⌊some of_⌋* the remaining oil, which is on his palm, on the right ear's lobe of the one to be cleansed and on his right hand's thumb and on his right foot's big toe, on top of the guilt offering's blood.* ¹⁸ And the remaining oil that is on the priest's palm he shall put on the head of the one who presents himself for cleansing, and the priest shall make atonement for him _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ¹⁹ Thus* the priest shall _⌊sacrifice_⌋* the sin offering, and he shall make atonement for the one who presents himself for cleansing from his uncleanness, and afterward he shall slaughter the burnt offering. ²⁰ Then* the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar, and the priest shall make atonement for him, and so he shall be clean. ²¹ "But* if he is poor and _⌊he cannot afford_⌋* it,* then* he shall take one male lamb for a guilt offering as a wave offering to make atonement for himself and one-tenth of an ephah* of finely milled flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and a log of oil, ²² and two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋* that _⌊he can afford_⌋,* and one shall be a sin offering and the _⌊other_⌋* a burnt offering. ²³ And he shall bring them to the priest at the tent of assembly's entrance _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh on the eighth day for his cleansing. ²⁴ And the priest shall take the male lamb for the guilt offering and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh; ²⁵ and he shall slaughter the male lamb of the guilt offering, and the priest shall take _⌊some of_⌋* the guilt offering's blood, and he shall put it* on the right ear's lobe of the one who presents himself for cleansing and on his right hand's thumb and on his right foot's big toe. ²⁶ Then* the priest shall pour out _⌊some of_⌋* the oil on his own* left palm, ²⁷ and with his right finger the priest shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the oil that is on his left palm seven times _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ²⁸ Then* the priest shall put _⌊some of_⌋* the oil that is on his palm on the right ear's lobe of the one who presents himself for cleansing and on his right hand's thumb and on his right foot's big toe on the place of the guilt offering's blood. ²⁹ And the remaining oil that is on the priest's palm he shall put on the head of the one who presents himself for cleansing to make atonement for him _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ³⁰ And he shall _⌊sacrifice_⌋* one of the turtledoves or the _⌊young doves_⌋* that _⌊he can afford_⌋,* ³¹ even* what _⌊he can afford_⌋,* the one as a sin offering and the _⌊other_⌋* as a burnt offering in addition to the grain offering, and the priest shall make atonement for the one who presents himself for cleansing _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ³² This is the regulation of the one on whom is an infectious skin disease who _⌊cannot afford_⌋* the cost* for his cleansing."

¹⁴ So he went down and plunged into the Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh returned as the flesh of a small boy, and he was clean.

²⁴ And this will happen: before they call, I myself will answer; while still they are speaking, I myself will hear.

¹⁵ But Jesus answered and* said to him, "Permit it now, for in this way it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he permitted him.

³ And extending his hand he touched him, saying, "I am willing, be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. ⁴ And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."

¹⁴ And he ordered him, "Tell no one, but go and* show yourself to the priest and bring the offering* for your cleansing just as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.

⁵ His mother said to the servants, "Whatever he says to you, do it!"*

⁵⁰ Jesus said to him, "Go, your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he departed. ⁵¹ Now as* he was going down, his slaves met him, saying that his child was alive. ⁵² So he inquired from them the hour at which he had gotten better. Then they said to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him." ⁵³ So the father knew that it was that* same hour at which Jesus said to him, "Your son will live," and he himself believed, and his whole household.

⁷ And he said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which is translated "sent"). So he went and washed and came back seeing.

¹⁰ But if anyone walks around in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.

²⁴ In those days Hezekiah fell ill unto death, and he prayed to Yahweh. And he answered him and gave him a sign. ²⁵ But Hezekiah did not reciprocate according to the benefit placed upon him, because his heart became proud. So wrath was upon him and upon Judah and Jerusalem. ²⁶ But Hezekiah humbled himself with respect to the arrogance of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Yahweh did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

¹² What shall I give back to Yahweh for all his benefits to me? ¹³ I will lift up the cup of salvation and proclaim the name of Yahweh. ¹⁴ I will pay my vows made to Yahweh in the presence of all his people. ¹⁵ Costly _⌊in Yahweh's view_⌋* is the death of his faithful ones.

¹⁹ The living, the living one praises you like me today; a father will make your faithfulness known to children. ²⁰ Yahweh, save me, and we will play my music on stringed instruments all the days of our lives at the temple* of Yahweh." ²¹ And Isaiah said, "Let them _⌊take_⌋* a lump of figs, and let them rub it on the boil _⌊so that_⌋* he may recover." ²² And Hezekiah said, "What is the sign that I shall go up to the temple* of Yahweh?"

⁸ But when* the crowds saw this,* they were afraid and glorified God who had given such authority to men.

¹⁷ So Jesus answered and* said, "Were not ten cleansed? And where are the nine? ¹⁸ Was no one found to turn back and* give praise to God except this foreigner?"

¹⁴ After these things Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, "Look, you have become well! Sin no longer, lest something worse happen to you."

³⁸ And he said, "I believe, Lord!" and he worshiped him.

³ Then Abram fell upon his face and God spoke with him, saying,

¹¹ And when they* came into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and* worshiped him. And opening their treasure boxes, they offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

⁵ Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them saying, "Do not go on the road to the Gentiles, and do not enter into a city of the Samaritans,

³³ So the woman, frightened and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.

⁸ And when he* saw it,* Simon Peter fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, Lord, because I am _⌊a sinful man_⌋!"*

⁵² And he sent messengers before _⌊him_⌋,* and they went and* entered into a village of the Samaritans in order to prepare for him. ⁵³ And they did not welcome him because _⌊he was determined to go_⌋* to Jerusalem. ⁵⁴ Now when* the disciples James and John saw it,* they said, "Lord, do you want us to call fire to come down from heaven and consume them?" ⁵⁵ But he turned around and* rebuked them, ⁵⁶ and they proceeded to another village.

³² And in the same way also a Levite, when he* came down to the place* and saw him,* passed by on the opposite side. ³³ But a certain Samaritan who was traveling came up to him and, when he* saw him,* had compassion. ³⁴ And he came up and* bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine, and he put him on his own animal and* brought him to an inn and took care of him. ³⁵ And on the next day, he took out two denarii and* gave them** to the innkeeper, and said, "Take care of him, and whatever you spend in addition, I will repay to you when I return.

⁹ So the Samaritan woman said to him, "How do you, being a Jew, ask from me water* to drink, since I* am a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

²¹ Jesus said to her, "Believe me, woman, that an hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. ²² You worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews.

³⁹ Now from that town many of the Samaritans believed in him because of the word of the woman who testified, "He told me everything that I have done." ⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to him, they began asking* him to stay with them. And he stayed there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed because of his word, ⁴² And they were saying to the woman, "No longer because of _⌊what you said_⌋* do we believe, for we ourselves have heard, and we know that this one is truly the Savior of the world!"

²³ in order that all people* will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

⁴⁸ The Jews answered and said to him, "Do we not correctly say that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?"

⁸ But you will receive power when* the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest part of the earth."

⁵ And Philip came down to the city of Samaria and* began proclaiming* the Christ* to them. ⁶ And the crowds with one mind were paying attention to what was being said by Philip, as they heard him* and saw the signs that he was performing. ⁷ For many of those who had unclean spirits, they were coming out of them,* crying out with a loud voice, and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. ⁸ And there was great joy in that city. ⁹ Now a certain man _⌊named_⌋* Simon had been in the city practicing magic and astonishing the people of Samaria, saying he was someone great. ¹⁰ They were all paying attention to _⌊him_⌋,* from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is the power of God that is called 'Great.'" ¹¹ And they were paying attention to him because for a long time he had astonished them with his* magic. ¹² But when they believed Philip as he* was proclaiming the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were being baptized. ¹³ And Simon himself also believed, and after he* was baptized he was _⌊keeping close company with_⌋* Philip. And when he* saw the signs and great miracles that were taking place, he was astonished. ¹⁴ Now when* the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, ¹⁵ who went down and* prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit. ¹⁶ (For he had not yet fallen on any of them, _⌊but they had only been baptized_⌋* in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ¹⁷ Then they placed their* hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸ Now Simon, when he* saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, offered them money, ¹⁹ saying, "Give to me also this power, so that whomever I place my* hands on may receive the Holy Spirit!" ²⁰ But Peter said to him, "May your silver _⌊be destroyed along with you_⌋,* because you thought _⌊you could acquire_⌋* the gift of God by means of money! ²¹ _⌊You have no_⌋* part or share in this matter, because your heart is not right before God. ²² Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and ask the Lord if perhaps the intent of your heart may be forgiven you!" ²³ For I see you are in _⌊a state of bitter envy_⌋* and _⌊bound by unrighteousness_⌋."* ²⁴ But Simon answered and* said, "You pray to the Lord for me so that nothing of what you have said will come upon me." ²⁵ So when* they had solemnly testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they turned back toward Jerusalem, and were proclaiming the good news to many villages of the Samaritans.

²⁵ So it happened that when Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell at his* feet, and* worshiped him.* ²⁶ But Peter helped him up, saying, "Get up! I myself am also a man!"

¹⁰ the twenty-four elders fall down before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives _⌊forever and ever_⌋*, and put down their crowns before the throne, saying,

¹⁴ And the four living creatures were saying, "Amen!" and the elders fell down and worshiped.

⁴ And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who is seated on the throne, saying,
"Amen! Hallelujah!" ⁵ And a voice came out from the throne, saying,
"Praise our God all his slaves, and those who fear him, the small and the great!"

¹⁰ And I fell down before his feet to worship him, and he said to me, "_⌊Do not do that!_⌋* I am a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

⁹ And Yahweh God called to the man* and said to him, "Where are you?"

¹³ They quickly forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.

⁷ And when they persisted in asking him, straightening up he said* to them, "The one of you without sin, let him throw the first stone at her!" ⁸ And bending down again, he wrote on the ground. ⁹ Now when they* heard it,* being convicted by their conscience,* they began to depart,* one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus* was left alone—and the woman who was in their midst. ¹⁰ So Jesus, straightening up and seeing no one except the woman,* said to her, "Where are those accusers of yours?* Does no one condemn you?"

²¹ For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their reasoning, and their senseless hearts were darkened.

¹² But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth!"

²⁴ But he answered and* said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." ²⁵ But she came and* knelt down before him, saying, "Lord, help me!" ²⁶ And he answered and* said, "It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it* to the dogs!" ²⁷ So she said, "Yes, Lord, for even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table." ²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you want." And her daughter was healed from that hour.

³⁰ But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

¹⁶ Thus the last will be first and the first last."

⁷ saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship the one who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and the springs of water!"

²² But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, "Have courage, daughter! Your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that hour.

³⁴ But he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be well from your suffering."

⁵² And Jesus said to him, "Go, your faith has healed you." And immediately he regained his sight and began to follow* him on the road.

⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

⁴⁸ And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

⁴² And Jesus said to him, "Regain your sight! Your faith has saved you."

⁴⁴ And _⌊in the day of those kings_⌋,* the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will _⌊never_⌋* be destroyed, and the kingdom will not be left for another nation,* and it will bring an end to all these kingdoms, but it will stand _⌊forever_⌋.*

⁶ And he answered and said to me, "This is the word of Yahweh to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by strength and not by power, but only by my Spirit,' says Yahweh of hosts.

¹¹ "Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you! Nevertheless know this: that the kingdom of God has come near!"*

¹⁶ "The law and the prophets were until John; from that time on the kingdom of God has been proclaimed, and everyone is urgently pressed* into it.

²³ And they will say to you, 'Behold, there!' 'Behold, here!'* Do not go out or run after them!* ²⁴ For just as the lightning shines forth, flashing from one place under heaven to another place under heaven, so the Son of Man will be in his day.

¹¹ Now while* they were listening to these things, he went on and* told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.

³⁶ Jesus replied, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews. But now my kingdom is not from here."

⁶ So when* they had come together, they began asking* him, saying, "Lord, is it at this time you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?" ⁷ But he said to them, "It is not for you to know the times or seasons that the Father has set by his own authority.

²⁸ But if I expel demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you!

²³ "At that time if anyone should say to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'Here he is,' do not believe him!* ²⁴ For false messiahs and false prophets will appear, and will produce great signs and wonders in order to deceive, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you ahead of time! ²⁶ Therefore if they say to you, 'Behold, he is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or* 'Behold, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it!* ²⁷ For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. ²⁸ Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

²¹ "And at that time if anyone should say to you, "Behold, here is the Christ,' 'Behold, there he is,' do not believe him!*

⁹ and heal the sick in it, and say to them, "The kingdom of God has come near to you." ¹⁰ But into whatever town you enter and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and* say, ¹¹ "Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you! Nevertheless know this: that the kingdom of God has come near!"*

²³ And they will say to you, 'Behold, there!' 'Behold, here!'* Do not go out or run after them!*

⁸ And he said, Watch out that you are not deceived! For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he,' and 'The time is near!' Do not go after them!

²⁶ John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water. In your midst stands one whom you do not know—

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

²⁷ to whom God wanted to make known what is the glorious wealth of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,

¹⁵ And Jesus said to them, "_⌊The bridegroom's attendants_⌋* are not able to mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them. But days are coming when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

²⁰ But days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

³⁵ But days will come, and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days."

³⁵ Behold, your house has been left to you! And I tell you, you will never see me until the time* will come when you say, 'Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!'"*

³³ Then Jesus said, "Yet a little time I am with you, and I am going to the one who sent me. ³⁴ You will seek me and will not find me,** and where I am, you cannot come." ³⁵ So the Jews said to one another, "Where is this one going to go, that we will not find him? He is not going to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he?* ³⁶ What is this saying that he said, 'You will seek me and will not find me,** and where I am, you cannot come'?"

²¹ So he said to them again, "I am going away, and you will seek me and will die in your sin. Where I am going you cannot come!" ²² Then the Jews began to say,* "Perhaps he will kill himself, because he is saying, 'Where I am going you cannot come.'" ²³ And he said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are from this world; I am not from this world. ²⁴ Thus I said to you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."

³⁵ So Jesus said to them, "Yet a little time the light is with you! Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness does not overtake you! And the one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.

³³ Children, yet a little time I am with you. You will seek me and just as I said to the Jews, "Where I am going you cannot come," now I say also to you.

⁵ But now I am going away to the one who sent me, and none of you is asking me, 'Where are you going?' ⁶ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts. ⁷ But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

¹⁶ "A little while and you will see me no more, and again a little while and you will see me. ¹⁷ So some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this that he is saying to us, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me,' and 'Because I am going away to the Father'?" ¹⁸ So they kept on saying, "What is this that he is saying, 'A little while'? We do not understand what he is speaking about!" ¹⁹ Jesus knew that they were wanting to ask him, and he said to them, "Are you deliberating with one another about this—that I said, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me'? ²⁰ Truly, truly I say to you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will change to joy. ²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, experiences pain because her hour has come. But when her* child is born, she no longer remembers the affliction, on account of the joy that a human being has been born into the world. ²² So you also are experiencing sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you.

¹¹ And I am no longer in the world, and they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given to me, so that they may be one, just as we are. ¹² When I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given to me, and guarded them,* and none of them has perished except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture would be fulfilled. ¹³ And now I am coming to you, and I am saying these things in the world so that they may have my joy completed in themselves.

²³ "At that time if anyone should say to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'Here he is,' do not believe him!* ²⁴ For false messiahs and false prophets will appear, and will produce great signs and wonders in order to deceive, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you ahead of time! ²⁶ Therefore if they say to you, 'Behold, he is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or* 'Behold, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it!*

²¹ "And at that time if anyone should say to you, "Behold, here is the Christ,' 'Behold, there he is,' do not believe him!* ²² For false messiahs and false prophets will appear, and will produce signs and wonders in order to mislead, if possible, the elect. ²³ But you, watch out! I have told you everything ahead of time!

²¹ nor will they say, 'Behold, here it is!' or 'There!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst."

³ He lets it loose under all the heavens, and his lightning to the earth's corners. ⁴ After it, his voice roars; it thunders _⌊with his majestic voice_⌋,* and he does not restrain it when his voice is heard.

¹⁴ Then Yahweh will appear over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning; and my Lord Yahweh will blow the trumpet, and he shall go out in the storm winds of the south.

¹ "Look! I am going to send my messenger,* and he will prepare* the way _⌊before me_⌋.* And the Lord whom you are seeking will come suddenly to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you are taking pleasure—look!—he is about to come," says Yahweh of hosts. ² And who can endure the day of his coming? And who is the one who can stand _⌊when he appears_⌋?* For he is like a refiner's fire, like launderers' alkali.*

¹ * "For look! The day is about to come, burning like an oven, and all the arrogant and every _⌊evildoer_⌋* will be stubble. The coming day will consume* them," says Yahweh of hosts. "It will not leave behind for them root or branch. ² But for you who revere* my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like _⌊fattened calves_⌋.*

²⁷ For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

³⁰ And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven,* and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven* with power and great glory.

³¹ Now when the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.

⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, "You have said it.* But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power* and coming on the clouds of heaven."

² for you yourselves well know that the day of the Lord is coming in the same way as a thief in the night.

² that you not be easily shaken from your composure, nor be troubled either by a spirit or by a message or by a letter _⌊alleged to be from us_⌋*, to the effect that the day of the Lord has arrived.

⁸ and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth, and wipe out by the appearance of his coming,

⁸ You also be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the coming of the Lord is near.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will disappear with a rushing noise, and the celestial bodies will be destroyed by* being burned up, and the earth and the deeds done on it will be disclosed.

⁷ Then Yahweh said to Samuel, "Listen to the voice of the people concerning all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.

¹⁹ But you today have rejected your God who always delivers you from all of your calamities and your distresses. You have said to him, 'No, but you must appoint a king over us!' So then present yourselves before Yahweh by your tribes and by your clans."

³ He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with* sickness, and like _⌊one from whom others hide their faces_⌋,* he was despised, and we did not hold him in high regard.

²¹ From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.

²² Now as* they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men,* ²³ and they will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised." And they were extremely distressed.

¹⁸ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, ¹⁹ and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock him* and flog him* and crucify him,* and on the third day he will be raised."

⁴² Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures,
'The stone which the builders rejected, this has become _⌊the cornerstone_⌋.* This came about from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?*

³¹ And he began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things and to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise.

³¹ for he was teaching his disciples and was telling them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he* is killed, after three days he will rise."

³³ "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles.

¹⁰ Have you not read this scripture:
'The stone which the builders rejected, this has become _⌊the cornerstone_⌋.*

²² saying, "It is necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things and to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised on the third day.

³¹ And taking aside the twelve, he said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written by the prophets with reference to the Son of Man will be accomplished.

³³ and after* flogging him* they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise."

²⁵ And he said to them, "O foolish and slow in heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Was it not necessary that the Christ suffer these things and enter into his glory?"

⁴⁶ and said to them, "Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,

¹¹ He came to his own things, and his own people did not receive him.

³⁸ in order that the word of the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, who said,
"Lord, who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"*

⁵ And Yahweh saw that the evil of humankind was great upon the earth, and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was always* only evil.

⁷ And Yahweh said, "I will destroy humankind whom I created from upon the face of the earth, from humankind, to animals, to creeping things, and to the birds of heaven,* for I regret that I have made them."

⁷ And Noah and his sons and his wife, and the wives of his sons with him, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. ⁸ Of clean animals, and of animals which are not clean, and of the birds, and everything that creeps upon the ground, ⁹ _⌊two of each_⌋* went to Noah, into the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. ¹⁰ And it happened that after seven days the waters of the flood came over the earth. ¹¹ In the six hundredth year of the life of Noah, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month—on that day all the springs of the great deep were split open, and the windows of heaven were opened. ¹² And the rain came upon the earth forty days and forty nights. ¹³ On this same day, Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and the wife of Noah and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark, ¹⁴ they and all the living creatures according to their* kind, and all the domesticated animals according to their* kind, and all the creatures that creep upon the earth according to their* kind, all the birds according to their* kind, every winged creature. ¹⁵ And they came to Noah to the ark, _⌊two of each_⌋,* from every living thing in which was the breath of life. ¹⁶ And those that came, male and female, of every living thing, came as God had commanded him. And Yahweh shut the door behind him. ¹⁷ And the flood came forty days and forty nights upon the earth. And the waters increased, and lifted the ark, and it rose up from the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth. And the ark went upon the surface* of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed _⌊overwhelmingly_⌋* upon the earth, and they covered all the high mountains which were under the entire heaven.* ²⁰ _⌊The waters swelled fifteen cubits above the mountains, covering them_⌋.* ²¹ And every living thing that moved on the earth perished—the birds, and the domesticated animals, and the wild animals, and everything that swarmed on the earth, and all humankind. ²² Everything in whose nostrils was _⌊the breath of life_⌋,* among all that was on dry land, died. ²³ And he* blotted out every living thing upon the surface of the ground, from humankind, to animals, to creeping things, and to the birds of heaven;* they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained.

¹⁵ Will you keep to the way of old that the people of mischief have trod, ¹⁶ who were snatched away _⌊before their time_⌋,* whose foundation was washed away by a current? ¹⁷ Those who said to God, 'Turn away from us,' and 'What can Shaddai do to us?' ¹⁸ Yet* he himself* filled up their houses with good things, but* the schemes of the wicked are repugnant to me.

³⁷ For just as the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. ³⁸ For as in the days* before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered into the ark. ³⁹ And they did not know anything* until the deluge came and swept them* all away. So also the coming of the Son of Man will be.

²² And he said to the disciples, "Days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.*

²⁴ For just as the lightning shines forth, flashing from one place under heaven to another place under heaven, so the Son of Man will be in his day.

⁸ I tell you that _⌊he will see to it that justice is done_⌋* for them soon! Nevertheless, when* the Son of Man comes, then will he find faith on earth?"

⁷ By faith Noah, having been warned about things not yet seen, out of reverence constructed an ark for the deliverance of his family, by which he pronounced sentence on the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

¹⁹ in which also he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ who were formerly disobedient, when the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while* an ark was being constructed, in which a few—that is, eight souls—were rescued through water.

⁵ and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a proclaimer of righteousness, _⌊and seven others_⌋* when he* brought a flood on the world of the ungodly,

⁶ by means of which things the world that existed at that time was destroyed by* being inundated with water.

¹⁰ "And then it will happen that when Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that he swore to your ancestors,* to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to you large and fine cities that you did not build, ¹¹ and houses full of all sorts of good things* that you did not fill, and hewn cisterns that you did not hew, vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant, and _⌊you have eaten your fill_⌋,* ¹² then take care for yourself, so that you do not forget Yahweh, who brought you out from the land of Egypt from the house of slavery.

¹² lest when you have eaten and you are satisfied and you have built good houses and you live in them, ¹³ and your herds and your flocks have multiplied, and _⌊you have accumulated silver and gold_⌋,* and all that _⌊you have_⌋* has multiplied, ¹⁴ then your heart _⌊becomes proud_⌋* and you forget Yahweh your God, _⌊the one who brought you out_⌋* from the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery,

³⁶ Then Abigail went to Nabal, and look, _⌊he was holding a feast_⌋* in his house like the feast of the king. _⌊Nabal was enjoying himself_⌋,* and he was very drunk, so she did not tell him a thing, _⌊nothing at all_⌋,* until the light of morning. ³⁷ _⌊And then_⌋* in the morning when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these words. Then his heart died _⌊within him_⌋,* and he became like a stone. ³⁸ _⌊And then_⌋,* about ten days later, Yahweh struck Nabal and he died.

⁹ Their houses are safe without fear, and the rod of God is not upon them. ¹⁰ His bull breeds and does not fail; his cow calves and does not miscarry. ¹¹ They send out their little ones like the flock, and their children dance around. ¹² They _⌊sing_⌋* to the tambourine and lyre, and they rejoice to the sound of the long flute. ¹³ They spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to Sheol.

⁴ My _⌊mind_⌋* staggers; fear terrifies me; the twilight _⌊I desired_⌋* _⌊brought_⌋* me fear.

¹² And the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, called on that day
for weeping and mourning, and for baldness and girding _⌊with_⌋* sackcloth. ¹³ But look! Joy and gladness, the killing of oxen* and the slaughtering of sheep, the eating of meat and the drinking of wine! "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!" ¹⁴ And it was revealed in my ears by Yahweh of hosts:
"Surely this sin will not be atoned for you until you die!" says the Lord, Yahweh of hosts.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many possessions stored up for many years. Relax, eat, drink, celebrate!" ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your life* is demanded from you, and the things which you have prepared—whose will they be?'

¹⁹ "Now a certain man was rich, and dressed in purple cloth and fine linen, feasting sumptuously every day. ²⁰ And a certain poor man _⌊named_⌋* Lazarus, covered with sores, lay at his gate, ²¹ and was longing to be filled with what fell from the table of the rich man. But even the dogs came and* licked his sores. ²² Now it happened that the poor man died, and he was carried away by the angels to _⌊Abraham's side_⌋.* And the rich man also died and was buried. ²³ And in Hades he lifted up his eyes as he* was in torment and* saw Abraham from a distance, and Lazarus _⌊at his side_⌋.*

¹ Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need of anything to be written to you, ² for you yourselves well know that the day of the Lord is coming in the same way as a thief in the night. ³ Whenever they say "Peace and security," then sudden destruction will overtake them like the birth pains of _⌊a pregnant woman_⌋*, and they will not possibly escape.

¹³ Now the men of Sodom _⌊were extremely wicked sinners against Yahweh_⌋.*

²⁰ Then Yahweh said, "Because the outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great and because their sin is very _⌊serious_⌋,* ²¹ I will go down and I will see. Have they done altogether according to its cry of distress which has come to me? If not, I will know."

¹ And the two angels came to Sodom in the evening. And Lot was sitting in the gateway of Sodom. Then Lot saw them and stood up to meet them. And he bowed down with his face to the ground. ² And he said, "Behold, my lords, please turn aside into the house of your servant and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you can rise early and go on your way." And they said, "No, but we will spend the night in the square." ³ But _⌊he urged them strongly_⌋,* and they turned aside with him and came into his house. And he made a meal for them and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. ⁴ Before they laid down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people _⌊to the last man_⌋,* surrounded the house. ⁵ And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we may know* them." ⁶ But Lot went out to them at the entrance, and he shut the door behind him. ⁷ And he said, "No, my brothers, please do not do such a wrong thing. ⁸ Behold, I have two daughters who have not known* a man. Please, let me bring them out to you; then do to them as it seems good in your eyes. Only to these men do not do this thing, since they came under_⌊ my roof_⌋* for protection." ⁹ But they said, "Step aside!" Then they said, "_⌊This fellow_⌋* came to dwell as a foreigner and he acts as a judge! Now we shall do worse to you than them!" And they pressed very hard against the man, against Lot, and they drew near to break the door. ¹⁰ Then the men reached out with their hands and brought Lot in to them, into the house, and they shut the door. ¹¹ And the men who were at the entrance of the house they struck with blindness, both small and great, and they were unable to find the entrance. ¹² Then the men said to Lot, "Who is here with you? Bring out from the place your sons-in-law, and your sons and your daughters, and all who are with you in the city. ¹³ For we are about to destroy this place, because their cry has become great before Yahweh. Yahweh sent us to destroy it." ¹⁴ Then Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law who were taking* his daughters and said, "Get up! Go out from this place, because Yahweh is going to destroy the city!" But _⌊it seemed like a joke_⌋* in the eyes of his sons-in-law. ¹⁵ And as the dawn came up the angels urged Lot saying, "Get up, take your wife and your two daughters _⌊who are staying with you_⌋,* lest you be destroyed with the punishment of the city." ¹⁶ But when he lingered, the men seized him by his hand and his wife's hand, and his two daughters by hand, on account of the mercy of Yahweh upon him. And they brought him out and set him outside of the city. ¹⁷ And after bringing them outside one said, "Flee for your life; do not look behind you, and do not stand anywhere in the plain. Flee to the mountains lest you be destroyed." ¹⁸ And Lot said to them, "No, please, my lords. ¹⁹ Behold, your servant has found favor in your eyes and _⌊you have shown me great kindness_⌋* in saving my life. But I cannot flee to the mountains, lest the disaster overtake me and I die. ²⁰ Behold, this city is near enough to flee there, and it is a little one. Please, let me flee there. Is it not a little one? Then my life shall be saved." ²¹ And he said to him, "Behold, _⌊I will grant this favor as well_⌋;* that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken. ²² Escape there quickly, for I cannot do this thing until you get there." Therefore, there name of the city was called Zoar. ²³ After the sun _⌊had risen_⌋* upon the earth and Lot had entered Zoar, ²⁴ Yahweh rained down from heaven upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Yahweh. ²⁵ And he overthrew those cities and the whole plain, and the inhabitants of the cities and the vegetation of the ground. ²⁶ But his* wife looked _⌊back_⌋,* and she became a pillar of salt. ²⁷ And Abraham arose early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before Yahweh. ²⁸ And he looked down upon the surface of Sodom and Gomorrah, and upon the whole surface of the land, the plain. And he saw that,* behold, the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a smelting furnace.

⁴⁹ Look! This was the iniquity of Sodom, your sister: Pride, abundance of food, and _⌊prosperous ease_⌋* was to her and to her daughters, and _⌊she did not sustain the needy and the poor_⌋.* ⁵⁰ And they were proud, and they did a detestable thing _⌊before me_⌋,* and I removed them _⌊because_⌋* I saw it.

¹ Come now, you rich people, weep and cry aloud over the miseries that are coming upon you! ² Your wealth has rotted, and your clothing has become moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have become corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you, and it will consume your flesh like fire. You have stored up treasure in the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages that were held back by you from the workers who reap your fields cry out, and the cries of the reapers have come to the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ You have lived self-indulgently on the earth* and have lived luxuriously. You have fattened your hearts in the day of slaughter.

¹⁶ But when he lingered, the men seized him by his hand and his wife's hand, and his two daughters by hand, on account of the mercy of Yahweh upon him. And they brought him out and set him outside of the city. ¹⁷ And after bringing them outside one said, "Flee for your life; do not look behind you, and do not stand anywhere in the plain. Flee to the mountains lest you be destroyed." ¹⁸ And Lot said to them, "No, please, my lords. ¹⁹ Behold, your servant has found favor in your eyes and _⌊you have shown me great kindness_⌋* in saving my life. But I cannot flee to the mountains, lest the disaster overtake me and I die. ²⁰ Behold, this city is near enough to flee there, and it is a little one. Please, let me flee there. Is it not a little one? Then my life shall be saved." ²¹ And he said to him, "Behold, _⌊I will grant this favor as well_⌋;* that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken. ²² Escape there quickly, for I cannot do this thing until you get there." Therefore, there name of the city was called Zoar. ²³ After the sun _⌊had risen_⌋* upon the earth and Lot had entered Zoar, ²⁴ Yahweh rained down from heaven upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Yahweh. ²⁵ And he overthrew those cities and the whole plain, and the inhabitants of the cities and the vegetation of the ground.

²³ 'All its land is brimstone and salt left by fire, _⌊none of its land will be sown_⌋,* and it will not make plants sprout out and it will not grow any vegetation; it is as the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Adman and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overturned in his anger and in his wrath.' ²⁴ And all the nations will say, '_⌊Why_⌋* has Yahweh done _⌊such a thing_⌋* to this land? What caused the fierceness of this great anger?' ²⁵ And they will say,* 'It is because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their ancestors,* which he _⌊made_⌋* with them _⌊when he brought them out_⌋* from the land of Egypt.

⁹ If Yahweh of hosts had not left us survivors,* we would have been as few as Sodom, we would have become like Gomorrah.

¹⁹ And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the splendor of the Chaldeans' pride, will be like _⌊when God overthrew_⌋* Sodom and Gomorrah.

⁴⁰ As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "no one will live there, and the son of humankind will not dwell as an alien in her.

⁸ How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is disturbed* within me; _⌊all_⌋* my compassions are aroused.

¹¹ "I overthrew some of you as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were as a stick snatched from the fire, and yet you did not return to me," is the declaration of Yahweh.

⁹ "Therefore, as I live"—a declaration of Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel— "Moab shall be as Sodom, and the _⌊Ammonites_⌋* like Gomorrah, a place of weeds and salt pits and a desolation forever. The remnant of my people shall plunder them, and the remainder of my nation shall possess them."

²³ And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today. ²⁴ Nevertheless I tell you that it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you!"

⁶ and condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes, having appointed them as an example for those who are going to be ungodly,

⁷ as Sodom and Gomorrah and the towns around them indulged in sexual immorality and _⌊pursued unnatural desire_⌋* in the same way as these, are exhibited as an example by* undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

⁸ And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which is called symbolically Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

²⁷ For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and at that time he will reward each one according to _⌊what he has done_⌋.*

³ And as* he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"

²⁷ For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. ²⁸ Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather. ²⁹ "And immediately after the tribulation of those days,
'the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken.'* ³⁰ And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven,* and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven* with power and great glory. ³¹ And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect together from the four winds, from one end of heaven* to the other end of it.

³⁷ For just as the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

³⁹ And they did not know anything* until the deluge came and swept them* all away. So also the coming of the Son of Man will be.

²⁶ And then they will see the Son of Man arriving in the clouds with great power and glory.

²² because these are days of vengeance, so that all the things that are written can be fulfilled.

²⁷ And then they will see the Son of Man arriving in a cloud* with power and great glory.

³⁴ "But take care for yourselves, lest your hearts are weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of daily life, and that day come upon you suddenly ³⁵ like a trap. For it will come upon all who reside on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ But be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."

⁷ so that you do not lack in any spiritual gift as you* eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁷ and to you who are being afflicted, rest with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels,

⁷ so that the genuineness of your faith, more valuable than gold that is passing away, but is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

¹³ Therefore, _⌊when you have prepared your minds for action_⌋* by* being self-controlled, put your hope completely in the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹³ But to the degree that you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that also at the revelation of his glory you may rejoice and be glad.

⁷ Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even every one who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him.
Yes, amen.

⁴ Then* Satan* answered him and said, "Skin for skin! All that _⌊that_⌋* man has he will give for his life.

⁵ And you, do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek great things,* for look, I am about to bring disaster upon all flesh," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "but to you I will give your life as booty in all the places where you may go." '"

²⁵ "For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, what you will eat,* and not for your body, what you will wear. Is your life not more than food and your body more than clothing?

²⁶ For what will a person be benefited if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or what will a person give in exchange for his life?

¹⁷ The one who is on his* housetop must not come down to take things out of his house, ¹⁸ and the one who is in the field must not turn back to pick up his cloak. ¹⁹ And woe to those _⌊who are pregnant_⌋* and to those who are nursing their babies* in those days! ²⁰ But pray that your flight may not happen in winter or on a Sabbath. ²¹ For at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not happened from the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will happen.

¹⁴ "But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be" (let the one who reads understand), "then those in Judea must flee to the mountains! ¹⁵ The one* who is on his* housetop must not come down or go inside to take anything out of his house, ¹⁶ and the one who is in the field must not turn back to pick up his cloak.

²¹ Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those _⌊inside it_⌋* must depart, and those in the fields must not enter into it,

⁷ But whatever things were gain to me, these things I have considered loss because of Christ. ⁸ _⌊More than that_⌋*, I even consider all things to be loss because of the surpassing greatness of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for the sake of whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and consider them* dung, in order that I may gain Christ

¹⁷ And after bringing them outside one said, "Flee for your life; do not look behind you, and do not stand anywhere in the plain. Flee to the mountains lest you be destroyed."

²⁶ But his* wife looked _⌊back_⌋,* and she became a pillar of salt.

⁶ Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we should not be desirers of evil things, just as those also desired them, ⁷ and not become idolaters, as some of them did, just as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to play,"* ⁸ nor commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed sexual immorality, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day, ⁹ nor put Christ to the test, as some of them tested him, and were destroyed by snakes, ¹⁰ nor grumble, just as some of them grumbled, and were destroyed by the destroyer. ¹¹ Now these things happened to those people as an example, but are written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come. ¹² Therefore, the one who thinks that he stands must watch out lest he fall.

³⁸ But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul is not well pleased with him."* ³⁹ But we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but among those who have faith to the preservation of our souls.

¹⁸ _⌊For by speaking high-sounding but empty words_⌋*, they entice with desires of the flesh and with licentiousness those who are scarcely escaping from those who live in error, ¹⁹ promising them freedom although they* themselves are slaves of depravity. For to whatever someone succumbs, by this he is also* enslaved. ²⁰ For if, after they* have escaped from the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord* and Savior Jesus Christ, and they are again entangled in these things and succumb to them, the last state has become worse for them than the first. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment that had been delivered to them. ²² The statement of the true proverb has happened to them, "A dog returns to its own vomit,"* and "A sow, after* washing herself, returns* to wallowing in the mud."*

³⁹ The one who finds his life will lose it, and the one who loses his life because of me will find it.

²⁵ For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of me will find it.

³⁵ For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of me and of the gospel will save it. ³⁶ For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? ³⁷ For what can a person give in exchange for his life?

²⁴ For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life on account of me, this person will save it. ²⁵ For what is a person benefited if he* gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

²⁵ The one who loves his life loses it, and the one who hates his life in this world preserves it for eternal life.

¹⁰ Do not be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and you will experience affliction ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

⁹ Do not destroy me* with the sinners, nor my life with men of bloodshed,

³ Do not drag me away with the wicked or with the workers of evil, who speak of peace with their neighbors, while evil is in their heart.

⁹ Look! the former things have come, and I declare new things. I _⌊announce_⌋* them to you before they sprout up."

⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and you must place a mark on the foreheads of the men _⌊who are groaning and lamenting_⌋* about all of the detestable things _⌊that are being done_⌋* in the midst of her." ⁵ And to the others he said in my hearing, "Go through the city behind him and kill! Your eyes shall not take pity, and you shall not have compassion. ⁶ You must kill _⌊totally_⌋* old man, young man and young woman, and little children and women, but _⌊concerning_⌋* every man _⌊with the mark on him_⌋* you must not approach; and from my sanctuary you must begin." And they began with the old men who _⌊were before_⌋* the house.*

¹⁶ Then those who revered* Yahweh spoke _⌊with one another_⌋.* And Yahweh listened attentively* and heard, and a scroll of remembrance was written _⌊before him_⌋* of those who revere* Yahweh and ponder his name. ¹⁷ "They will be mine," says Yahweh of hosts, "on the day that I am acting, my treasured possession. I will have compassion on them as a man has compassion on his son who serves him. ¹⁸ You will return and see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves God and the one who does not serve him.

²⁵ Behold, I have told you ahead of time!

⁴⁰ Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one left. ⁴¹ Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.

²³ But you, watch out! I have told you everything ahead of time!

²⁹ But Peter said to him, "Even if they all fall away, certainly I will not!"

³ No, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all perish as well!

⁵ No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all perish as well!"

²⁴ "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able to,

⁴ But what does the divine response say to him? "I have left for myself seven thousand people* who have not bent the knee to Baal."* ⁵ So in this way also at the present time, there is a remnant _⌊selected by grace_⌋*. ⁶ But if by grace, it is no longer by works, for otherwise grace would no longer be grace. ⁷ What then? What Israel was searching for, this it did not obtain. But the elect obtained it, and the rest were hardened,

¹⁶ For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. ¹⁷ Then we who are alive, who remain, will be snatched away at the same time together with them in the clouds for a meeting with the Lord in the air, and thus we will be together with the Lord always.

⁹ then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to reserve the unrighteous to be punished at* the day of judgment,

⁵ and every firstborn in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the slave woman who is behind the pair of millstones and every firstborn animal.*

²¹ And the Philistines seized him, gouged his eyes, and brought him to Gaza. They tied him up with bronze shackles, and he became a grinder _⌊in the prison_⌋.*

⁴¹ Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.

²⁹ From there it spies out the prey; its eyes look from far away. ³⁰ And its young ones lick blood greedily, and where the dead carcasses are, there they are."

²⁶ "And after the sixty and two weeks an anointed one* shall be cut off, and _⌊he shall have nothing_⌋,* and the people of the coming leader will destroy the city and the sanctuary,* and its end will be with the flood and on to the end there shall be war; these desolations are determined. ²⁷ And he will make a strong covenant with the many for one week, but in half of the week he will let cease sacrifice and offering _⌊and in its place_⌋* a desolating abomination comes even until _⌊the determined complete destruction_⌋* is poured out on the desolator."

¹ I saw my Lord standing by the altar and he said, "Strike the capitals so that the thresholds will shake, and shatter them on the head of all of them, and I will kill the rest of them with the sword. A fugitive belonging to them will not run away, and a survivor belonging to them will not escape. ² If they dig into Sheol, from there my hand will take them, and even if they climb up to heaven, from there I will bring them down. ³ And even if they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, from there I will search and will take them, and even if they hide from before my eyes at the bottom of the sea, from there I will command the sea serpent and it will bite them. ⁴ And even if they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword and it will kill them, and I will fix my eyes on them for harm and not for good."

⁸ _⌊And then_⌋* in all the land," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "_⌊two thirds_⌋* will be cut off and perish, and one third will be left alive* in it. ⁹ And I will bring the remaining third into the fire, and I will refine them like one refines silver, and I will test them like one tests gold. They* will call my name, and I will answer them.* I will say, 'They* are my people,' and they* will say, 'Yahweh is my God.'"

² I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, and they will loot the houses, and the women will be raped; half of the city will go into exile, but the remainder of the people will not be cut off from the city.

²⁸ Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.

¹⁶ hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles in order that they may be saved, so that they always fill up their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the end.*

¹⁷ And I saw one angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly _⌊directly overhead_⌋*,
"Come! Assemble for the great banquet of God, ¹⁸ in order that you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of military tribunes, and the flesh of the powerful, and the flesh of horses and those seated on them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, and small and great!"
