¹ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋* and say to them, 'When a man or a woman takes a special vow, a vow of a _⌊Nazirite_⌋,* to keep separate for Yahweh, ³ he will abstain from wine and fermented drink; he will not drink wine vinegar or vinegar of fermented drink; he will not drink the fruit juice of grapes or eat fresh or dry grapes. ⁴ All the days of his separation* you will not eat from anything that is made from the grapevine, from sour grapes to the skin of grapes. ⁵ " 'All the days of the vow of his separation a razor will not pass over his head. Until fulfilling the days that he separated himself to Yahweh he will be holy and grow long the locks of the hair of his head. ⁶ " 'All the days of keeping himself separated for Yahweh he will not go to a person who is dead; ⁷ for even his father, mother, brother, or sister he will not make himself unclean _⌊by their death_⌋,* because the separation to his God is on his head. ⁸ He will be holy for Yahweh all the days of his separation.* ⁹ " 'If someone dies suddenly and makes the head of his separation* unclean, he will shave off the hair of his head on the day of his cleansing; on the seventh day he will shave it off. ¹⁰ On the eighth day he will bring two turtledoves or two _⌊young pigeons_⌋* to the priest by the doorway of the tent of assembly, ¹¹ and the priest will offer one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering, and he will make atonement for him because he sinned concerning the corpse. The former days of his vow will fall away because his separation was defiled. ¹³ " 'This is the regulation of the Nazirite for the day of the fulfilling of the days of his separation: one will bring him to the doorway of the tent of the assembly. ¹⁴ He will present his offering to Yahweh, one ram-lamb _⌊in its first year_⌋* without defect as a burnt offering, and one ewe-lamb _⌊in its first year_⌋* without defect as a sin offering, and one ram without defect as a fellowship offering; ¹⁵ and a basket of unleavened bread, finely milled flour of ring-shaped bread cakes mixed with oil, and wafers of unleavened bread smeared with oil, and their grain offering and their libations. ¹⁶ The priest will present _⌊before Yahweh_⌋* and offer his sin offering, his burnt offering; ¹⁷ he will offer a ram as a sacrifice of a fellowship offering to Yahweh, in addition to the basket of the unleavened bread; the priest will offer his grain offering and his libation. ¹⁸ The Nazirite will shave off the hair of _⌊his consecrated head_⌋* at the doorway of the tent of assembly, and he will take the hair of _⌊his consecrated head_⌋,* and he will put it on the fire that is beneath the sacrifice of the fellowship offering. ¹⁹ The priest will take the shoulder from the ram that is boiled, and one ring-shaped bread cake of unleavened bread from the basket, and one wafer of unleavened bread, and he will put them on the hands of the Nazirite after he has shaved _⌊his consecrated head_⌋.* ²⁰ The priest will wave them as a wave offering _⌊before the presence of_⌋* Yahweh; they* are a holy object to the priest, in addition to the breast section of the wave offering, and in addition to the upper thigh of the contribution; and afterward the Nazirite may drink wine. ²¹ " 'This is the regulation of the Nazirite who has made a vow of his offering to Yahweh according to his separation, _⌊in addition to what he can afford_⌋.* In accordance to the word of his vow that he vowed, he will do, concerning the instruction of his separation.'" ²² Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ²³ "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, 'You will bless the _⌊Israelites_⌋:* You will say to them: ²⁴ Yahweh will bless you and keep you; ²⁵ Yahweh will make shine his face on you and be gracious to you; ²⁶ Yahweh will lift up his face upon you, and he will give you peace.' ²⁷ And they will put my name on the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and I will bless them."

¹⁶ And by what will it be known then that I have found favor in your eyes, I and your people? Is it not by your going with us? And so we will be distinguished, I and your people, from all the people who are on the face of the ground."

²⁶ And you shall be holy for me, because I, Yahweh, am holy, and I have singled you out from the nations to be mine.

² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and say* to them, 'When a man makes a vow according to your* proper value of persons to Yahweh,

⁵ " 'All the days of the vow of his separation a razor will not pass over his head. Until fulfilling the days that he separated himself to Yahweh he will be holy and grow long the locks of the hair of his head. ⁶ " 'All the days of keeping himself separated for Yahweh he will not go to a person who is dead;

⁵ because you will conceive and bear a son. No razor _⌊will touch_⌋* his head, because the boy will be a _⌊Nazirite of God_⌋* _⌊from birth_⌋.* And it is he who will begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines."

¹⁷ So _⌊he confided everything to her_⌋,* and he said to her, "A razor _⌊has never touched_⌋* my head, for I am a _⌊Nazirite of God_⌋* _⌊from birth_⌋.* If I am shaved my strength will leave me, and I will become weak, like everyone else.

²⁸ I in turn have lent him to Yahweh. _⌊As long as he lives_⌋* he is lent to Yahweh." Then they worshiped Yahweh there.

¹ He who is selfish seeks a craving;* against all sound judgment he shows contempt.

¹¹ And I raised up some of your sons to be prophets and some of your young men to be Nazirites. Is it not so, O _⌊people_⌋* of Israel? This is the declaration of Yahweh! ¹² But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets, saying, 'You shall not prophesy.'

¹⁵ For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he must never drink wine or beer, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while he is* still in his mother's womb.

²³ Therefore do this that we tell you: _⌊we have_⌋* four men who have taken a vow upon themselves.* ²⁴ Take these men and* purify yourself along with them and _⌊pay their expenses_⌋* so that they can shave their* heads, and everyone will know that the things which they had been informed about you are nothing, but you yourself also agree with observing the law.

¹ Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

¹⁶ And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said,
"I will live in* them and will walk about among them, and I will be their God and they will be my people."*

¹⁵ But when the one who set me apart* from my mother's womb and called me by his grace was pleased

²⁷ who does not _⌊need every day_⌋* like the former high priests to offer up sacrifices for his own sins and then for the sins of the people, because he did this once for all when he* offered up himself.

⁹ "You and your sons with you may not drink wine or* strong drink when you come to the tent of assembly, so that* you will not die—it is a lasting statute for your* generations—

¹⁴ She should not eat of anything that comes from the vine, or drink wine or strong drink, or eat anything unclean; she should keep all that I commanded."

⁴ It is not for the kings, O Lemuel; drinking wine is not for the kings, nor is strong drink for rulers. ⁵ Or else he will drink and forget what has been decreed, and he will pervert the rights* of all the _⌊afflicted_⌋.*

⁶ But they answered, "We will not drink wine, for Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our ancestor,* commanded us, _⌊saying_⌋,* 'You shall not drink wine, you or your children, _⌊forever_⌋.* ⁷ And you shall not build a house, and you shall not sow seed, and you shall not plant a vineyard, and it shall not be for you, but in tents you shall live all your days, so that you may live many days on the surface of the land where you are dwelling as aliens.' ⁸ And we obeyed the voice of Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our ancestor,* in all that he commanded us, not to drink wine all our days, ourselves, our wives, our sons, or our daughters,

¹² But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets, saying, 'You shall not prophesy.'

³³ For John the Baptist has come not eating bread or drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon!' ³⁴ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a man who is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'

³⁴ "But take care for yourselves, lest your hearts are weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of daily life, and that day come upon you suddenly

¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine (in which is dissipation), but be filled by the Spirit,

²² Abstain from every form of evil. ²³ (No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach and your frequent illnesses.)

²¹ " 'This is the regulation of the Nazirite who has made a vow of his offering to Yahweh according to his separation, _⌊in addition to what he can afford_⌋.* In accordance to the word of his vow that he vowed, he will do, concerning the instruction of his separation.'"

¹⁹ And she put him to sleep on her lap; then she called the men* and shaved off seven locks of his head. Then she began to subdue him,* and his strength went away from him.

¹¹ She _⌊made a vow_⌋* and said: "O Yahweh of hosts, if you will look with compassion on the misery of your female servant, and will remember me, and not forget your female servant, and will give to your female servant _⌊a male child_⌋* then I will give him to Yahweh all the days of his life, and a razor will never pass over his head."*

⁷ Her princes were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk; their bodies were more ruddy than rubies, sapphire their appearance. ⁸ Now their appearance is blacker than soot, they are not recognized in the streets; their skin has shriveled on their bones, it has become dry like wood.

¹⁰ Because of this, the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, on account of the angels. ¹¹ Nevertheless, neither is woman anything apart from man, nor is man anything apart from woman in the Lord. ¹² For just as the woman is from the man, thus also the man is through the woman. But all things are from God. ¹³ You judge _⌊for yourselves_⌋*: is it fitting for a woman to pray to God with her head* uncovered? ¹⁴ And does not nature itself teach you that a man, if he wears long hair, it is a dishonor to him? ¹⁵ But a woman, if she wears long hair, it is her glory, because her hair is given* for a covering.

²⁸ And you* shall not make a slash in your* body for a dead person, nor shall you* make on yourselves a tattoo's mark; I am Yahweh.

¹ Then* Yahweh said to Moses, "Speak to the priests, Aaron's sons, and say to them, 'One must not make himself unclean for a dead person among his own people, ² except for his direct relative closest to him: his mother and his father, and his son and his daughter, and his brother, ³ and for his sister, a virgin, who is closest to him, _⌊who has not had a husband_⌋*—for her he may defile himself.

¹¹ And he shall not go near any dead person, nor shall he make himself unclean for his father or* for his mother.

¹¹ " 'The one who touches a corpse of _⌊any person_⌋* will be unclean for seven days. ¹² He will purify himself on the third day, and on the seventh day he will be clean. If he does not purify himself on the third day, he will not be clean on the seventh day. ¹³ Anyone who touches a corpse, the person of a human being who died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of Yahweh, and that person will be cut off from Israel because the waters of impurity were not sprinkled on him. He will still be unclean, and uncleanness is on him. ¹⁴ " 'This is the law of a person who dies in a tent: everyone who comes into the tent and all who are in the tent will be unclean seven days. ¹⁵ Every container that is opened that does not have a lid cord* on it is unclean. ¹⁶ Anyone _⌊in the open field_⌋* who touches _⌊one who has been slain_⌋,* or a corpse, or a bone of a person, or a burial site, he will be unclean for seven days. ¹⁷ For the unclean person they will take* from the powder of the _⌊burnt purification offering_⌋,* and they will put* running water into a container. ¹⁸ A clean person will take hyssop and dip it into the water and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the objects and persons who were there, and on one who touched the bone, or the one slain, or the dead, or the burial site. ¹⁹ The clean person will spatter the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; and on the seventh day he will purify him, and he will wash his garments; he will bathe in the waters, and in the evening he will be clean. ²⁰ But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person will be cut off from the midst of the assembly because he defiled the sanctuary of Yahweh; the water of impurity was not sprinkled on him; he is unclean. ²¹ " 'It will be an eternal decree for them. The one who spatters the waters of impurity will wash his garments, and the one who touches the waters of impurity will be unclean until the evening. ²² Anything that the unclean person touches will be unclean, and the person who touches it will be unclean until the evening.'"

⁵ For thus says Yahweh, "You must not enter the house of the funeral meal, and you must not go to lament, and you must not show sympathy for them, for I have taken away my peace from this people," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh, "the loyal love and the compassion. ⁶ Both the great and small will die in this land. They will not be buried, and they will not mourn for them, and no one will cut himself with a blade, and no one will shave himself for them.

¹⁶ "Son of man,* look! I am taking from you what is pleasing to your eyes with a plague,* but you shall not mourn, and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not run down. ¹⁷ Sigh in silence for the dead; you shall not make a mourning ceremony. Bind your turban on you, and you must put your sandals on your feet. You must not cover your upper lip,* and the bread of _⌊mourners_⌋* you shall not eat." ¹⁸ And I spoke to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening, and I did in the morning _⌊just as_⌋* I was commanded.

²¹ And another of the disciples* said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father." ²² But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead!"

⁵⁹ And he said to another, "Follow me!" But he said, "Lord, first allow me to go and* bury my father." ⁶⁰ But he said to him, "Leave the dead to bury their own dead! But you go and* proclaim the kingdom of God."

¹⁶ So then, from now on we know no one _⌊from a human point of view_⌋*, if indeed we have known Christ _⌊from a human point of view_⌋*, but now we know him this way no longer.

¹⁰ " 'As for* the priest who is higher than his brothers, on whose head the oil of anointment is poured and _⌊he was ordained_⌋* to wear the garments, he shall not dishevel his head, and he shall not tear his garments. ¹¹ And he shall not go near any dead person, nor shall he make himself unclean for his father or* for his mother. ¹² And he shall not go out from the sanctuary, and he shall not profane his God's sanctuary, because the dedication of his God's oil of anointment is on him; I am Yahweh.

⁶ And it happened, men who were unclean _⌊by a dead person_⌋* were not able to perform the Passover on that day. And they came _⌊before_⌋* Moses and Aaron on that day.

²⁵ And _⌊near a dead person_⌋* he* shall not come to be defiled, _⌊but only_⌋* for a father and for a mother and for a son and for a daughter, for a brother and for a sister _⌊who was not married_⌋* may they defile themselves.

¹⁷ Therefore "come out from their midst and be separate," says the Lord, "and do not touch what is unclean,* and I will welcome you,* ¹⁸ and I will be a father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me,"* says the all-powerful Lord.

⁹ _⌊And then_⌋* on the seventh day he must shave off all his hair—he must shave his head and his beard and _⌊his eyebrows_⌋* and all the rest* of his hair—and he shall wash his garments, and he shall wash his body in the water; thus* he shall be clean.

¹⁸ The Nazirite will shave off the hair of _⌊his consecrated head_⌋* at the doorway of the tent of assembly, and he will take the hair of _⌊his consecrated head_⌋,* and he will put it on the fire that is beneath the sacrifice of the fellowship offering.

¹⁸ So Paul, after* remaining many days longer, said farewell to the brothers and* sailed away to Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his* head at Cenchrea, because he had taken a vow.

⁸ _⌊More than that_⌋*, I even consider all things to be loss because of the surpassing greatness of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for the sake of whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and consider them* dung, in order that I may gain Christ ⁹ and may be found in him, not having my righteousness which is from the law, but which is through faith in Christ,* the righteousness from God on the basis of faith,*

⁷ " 'If* _⌊he cannot afford a sheep_⌋,* he shall bring as his guilt offering for what he sinned two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋* for Yahweh, one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering. ⁸ He shall bring* them to the priest, and he shall present that which is for the sin offering first, and the priest* shall wring its head off _⌊at the back of its neck_⌋,* but* he must not sever it, ⁹ and he shall spatter _⌊some of_⌋* the sin offering's blood on the altar's side, and the leftover blood must be drained out on the altar's base; it is a sin offering. ¹⁰ The second* bird he must prepare as a burnt offering according to the regulation, and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin that he has _⌊committed_⌋,* and he shall be forgiven.

¹ Then* on the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and Israel's elders, ² and he said to Aaron, "Take for yourself _⌊a bull calf_⌋* as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering, without defect,* and present them _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ³ Then* you* must speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, 'Take _⌊a he-goat_⌋* as a sin offering and a bull calf and a male sheep, _⌊yearlings_⌋* without defect,* as a burnt offering, ⁴ and an ox and a ram as fellowship offerings to sacrifice _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and a grain offering mixed with oil, because today Yahweh will appear to you."* ⁵ So* they took what Moses had commanded to the _⌊front of_⌋* the tent of assembly, and the whole community presented themselves, and they stood _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ⁶ Then* Moses said, "This is the word that Yahweh commanded you* to do _⌊so that_⌋* the glory of Yahweh might appear to you."* ⁷ Then* Moses said to Aaron, "Approach* the altar and _⌊sacrifice_⌋* your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people. And _⌊sacrifice_⌋* the people's offering and make atonement for them, just as Yahweh has commanded." ⁸ Then* Aaron approached* the altar, and he slaughtered the bull calf of the sin offering, which was for himself. ⁹ Then* Aaron's sons presented the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood, and he put it on the altar's horns, and he poured out the blood on the altar's base. ¹⁰ And the fat and the kidneys and the lobe _⌊from the sin offering's liver_⌋* he turned into smoke on the altar, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses, ¹¹ but* the meat and the skin he burned _⌊with fire_⌋* _⌊outside the camp_⌋.* ¹² Then* he slaughtered the burnt offering, and Aaron's sons brought the blood to him, and he sprinkled it on the altar all around; ¹³ and they brought the burnt offering to him by its pieces, as well as* the head, and he turned them into smoke on the altar; ¹⁴ and he washed the inner parts* and the lower leg bones, then* he turned them into smoke upon the burnt offering on the altar. ¹⁵ Then* he presented the people's offering, and he took the goat of the sin offering, which was for the people, and he slaughtered it and offered* it as a sin offering like the first one. ¹⁶ Then* he presented the burnt offering, and he _⌊sacrificed_⌋* it according to the regulation. ¹⁷ Then* he presented the grain offering, and he filled his palm _⌊with some of_⌋* it, and he turned it into smoke on the altar besides the morning's burnt offering. ¹⁸ Then* he slaughtered the ox and the ram, the fellowship offerings that are for the people, and Aaron's sons brought the blood to him, and he sprinkled it on the altar all around. ¹⁹ And as for the fat portions from the ox and from the ram (the fat tail and the layer of fat and the kidneys and the lobe of the liver), ²⁰ they placed the fat portions on the breast sections, and he turned the fat portions into smoke on the altar. ²¹ Then* Aaron waved the breast sections and the right upper thigh as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, just as Moses had commanded.

⁶ And at the fulfilling of the days of her cleansing, whether for a son or for a daughter, she must bring to the priest at the tent of assembly's entrance a _⌊yearling_⌋* male lamb as a burnt offering and _⌊young dove_⌋* or a turtledove as a sin offering.

²² and two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋* that _⌊he can afford_⌋,* and one shall be a sin offering and the _⌊other_⌋* a burnt offering. ²³ And he shall bring them to the priest at the tent of assembly's entrance _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh on the eighth day for his cleansing.

³¹ even* what _⌊he can afford_⌋,* the one as a sin offering and the _⌊other_⌋* as a burnt offering in addition to the grain offering, and the priest shall make atonement for the one who presents himself for cleansing _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁴ Then* on the eighth day he shall take for himself two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋,* and he shall come _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh at the tent of assembly's entrance, and he shall give them to the priest.

²⁹ And on the eighth day she shall take for herself two turtledoves or two _⌊young doves_⌋,* and she shall bring them to the priest at the tent of assembly's entrance.

¹ And on the third day, there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. ² And both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding.

²⁵ who was handed over on account of our trespasses, and was raised up in the interest of our justification.*

⁶ and he shall bring his guilt offering to* Yahweh for his sin that he has _⌊committed_⌋:* a female from the flock,* a ewe-lamb or _⌊a she-goat_⌋,* as a sin offering, and the priest shall make atonement for him for* his sin.

²⁴ And the priest shall take the male lamb for the guilt offering and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh;

²⁴ And _⌊when the righteous turns_⌋* from his righteousness, so that* he does injustice, and does all of the detestable things that the wicked do, then* will he live because of all of his righteousness* that he did? Those things will not be remembered because of his infidelity that he displayed, and because of his _⌊sin that he committed_⌋.* Through* them he shall die.

¹⁵ But Jesus answered and* said to him, "Permit it now, for in this way it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he permitted him.

¹³ But the one who endures to the end—this person will be saved.

²⁹ And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to him." ³⁰ While* he was saying these things, many believed in him. ³¹ Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, "If you continue in my word you are truly my disciples,

¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles in one point only has become guilty of all of it.

⁸ Watch yourselves that you do not lose what we have worked for, but receive a full reward.

²⁶ Then Paul took along the men on the next day, and* after he* had purified himself together with them, he entered into the temple courts,* announcing the completion of the days of purification until _⌊the time_⌋* the offering would be presented on behalf of each one of them.

¹⁰ " 'But if his offering is from the flock,* from the sheep or from the goats for a burnt offering, he must present* an unblemished* male. ¹¹ He* must slaughter it on the north side of the altar _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh; then* Aaron's sons, the priests, will sprinkle its blood all around the altar. ¹² Then* he must cut it into pieces along with its head and its suet; and the priest will arrange them on the wood that is on the fire that is on the altar. ¹³ Then* he must wash the inner parts* and the lower leg bones with water and the priest shall present the whole animal and will turn it* into smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering by fire as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh.

⁶ " 'But if his offering for a sacrifice of fellowship offering for Yahweh is from the flock,* he must bring a male or a female without defect.

² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, 'If a person* sins by an unintentional wrong from any of Yahweh's commands that should not be _⌊violated_⌋,* and he _⌊violates_⌋* _⌊any of them_⌋*— ³ if the anointed priest sins, _⌊bringing guilt on the people_⌋,* then,* concerning the sin that he has _⌊committed_⌋,* he shall bring _⌊a young bull_⌋* without defect for Yahweh as a sin offering.

²⁷ " 'If* _⌊anyone_⌋* of the people of the land sins by an unintentional wrong by _⌊violating_⌋* one of Yahweh's commands that should not be _⌊violated_⌋,* so that* he incurs guilt,

³² " 'But* if he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he must bring a female without defect.

¹⁰ "And on the eighth day he must take two male lambs without defect and one ewe-lamb _⌊in its first year_⌋* without defect and three-tenths of an ephah* of finely milled flour mixed with oil as a grain offering and one log of oil.

²⁷ " 'If one person sins unintentionally, that person will present a female goat _⌊in its first year_⌋* as a sin offering.

²⁶ And it happened that when God helped the Levites carrying the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

²⁸ And all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh with shouting, with the sound of a shofar,* and with trumpets and cymbals, making loud music with musical instruments and stringed instruments. ²⁹ And when the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came into the city of David, then Michal the daughter of Saul looked down from the window and saw the king, David, leaping and dancing. And she despised him in her heart.

¹³ And you say, 'Look! This is a weariness,' and you sniff with disdain at it," says Yahweh of hosts. "And you bring the stolen, the lame, and the one that is sick—this you bring as the offering! Should I _⌊accept it_⌋* from your hand?" says Yahweh. ¹⁴ "Cursed is the one who cheats, who has in his flock a male and vows it, but instead sacrifices a blemished one to the Lord! For I am a great king," says Yahweh of hosts, "and my name is awesome among the nations."

¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb

² and unleavened bread and unleavened, ring-shaped bread cakes mixed with oil, and wafers of unleavened breads smeared with oil. You will make them with finely milled wheat flour,

⁴ " 'But if you bring a grain offering of something oven-baked, it must be of finely milled flour as ring-shaped unleavened bread mixed with oil or wafers of unleavened bread smeared with oil.

² "Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering and the two rams and the basket of the unleavened bread,

⁴ and an ox and a ram as fellowship offerings to sacrifice _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, and a grain offering mixed with oil, because today Yahweh will appear to you."*

¹ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ² "Speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋* and say to them, 'When you come into the land of your dwellings that I am about to give to you, ³ you will make an offering by fire for Yahweh from the cattle or from the flock, a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow, or as a freewill offering or at your feasts, to make a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh. ⁴ And the one who presents an offering* for Yahweh, he will present a grain offering of finely milled flour; a tenth will be mixed with a fourth of the liquid measure of oil; ⁵ and you will add a fourth of wine for the libation upon the burnt offering, or to the sacrifice for each ram-lamb. ⁶ Or for the ram you will make a grain offering of two-tenths of finely milled flour mixed into a third of a liquid measure of oil. ⁷ You will present a third of the liquid measure of wine for the libation, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh.

¹⁰ and you will present half a liquid measure of wine as a libation, as an offering made by fire, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh.

⁹ But those who gather it shall eat it, and they shall praise Yahweh, and those who gather it shall drink it in _⌊my holy courts_⌋.*

⁹ The offering and libation are withheld from the house* of Yahweh. The priests mourn, the ministers of Yahweh.

¹³ Gird yourselves and lament, O priests! Wail, O ministers of the altar! Come spend the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God, because offering and libation are withheld from the house of your God.

¹⁴ Who knows whether he will turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, an offering and a libation, for Yahweh your God?

⁵⁰ This is the bread that comes down from heaven so that someone may eat from it and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats from this bread, he will live _⌊forever_⌋.* And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh." ⁵² So the Jews began to quarrel* _⌊among themselves_⌋,* saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves! ⁵⁴ The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. ⁵⁶ The one who eats* my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me and I in him. ⁵⁷ Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so also the one who eats* me—that one will live because of me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread that came down from heaven, not as the fathers ate and died. The one who eats* this bread will live _⌊forever_⌋."* ⁵⁹ He said these things while* teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

³¹ Therefore, whether you eat or you drink or whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.

²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.

⁹ " 'If someone dies suddenly and makes the head of his separation* unclean, he will shave off the hair of his head on the day of his cleansing; on the seventh day he will shave it off.

¹⁰ Thus you also, when you have done all the _⌊things you were ordered to do_⌋,* say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done what we were obligated to do.'"

²⁴ Take these men and* purify yourself along with them and _⌊pay their expenses_⌋* so that they can shave their* heads, and everyone will know that the things which they had been informed about you are nothing, but you yourself also agree with observing the law.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace that he bestowed on us in the beloved,

²³ "And one loaf of bread and one ring-shaped bread cake of oiled bread and one wafer from the basket of unleavened bread that is before Yahweh— ²⁴ you will put them all on the palms of Aaron and on the palms of his sons, and you will wave them as a wave offering before Yahweh. ²⁵ And you will take them from their hand and turn them to smoke on the altar beside the burnt offering as a fragrance of appeasement before Yahweh; it is an offering made by fire before Yahweh. ²⁶ "And you will take the breast section from the ram of ordination that is for Aaron, and you will wave it as a wave offering before Yahweh. It will be your portion. ²⁷ And you will consecrate the wave offering breast section and the thigh of the contribution that was waved and that was presented* from the ram of the ordination that is for Aaron and for his sons. ²⁸ And it will be for* Aaron and for his sons as a lasting rule from the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* because it is a contribution, and it will be a contribution from the _⌊Israelites_⌋* from their sacrifices of fellowship, their contribution to Yahweh.

³⁰ His own hands must bring Yahweh's offerings made by fire. He must bring the fat in addition to the breast section to wave the breast section as a wave offering before Yahweh,

²⁷ Then* he put _⌊all of these_⌋* on Aaron's palms and on his sons' palms, and he waved them as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh.

³¹ Then* Moses said to Aaron and to his sons, "Boil the meat in the entrance to* the tent of assembly, and there you must eat it and the bread that is in the basket of the consecration offering, just as I have commanded, saying, 'Aaron and his sons must eat it,'

¹⁵ Also, before they _⌊offered up_⌋* the fat as a burnt offering, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, "Give the priest meat for roasting, for he will not take boiled meat from you, but only _⌊raw_⌋."*

³¹ and the priest shall turn the fat into smoke on the altar, and the breast section shall be for Aaron and his* sons.

³⁴ because I have taken the wave offering's breast section and the contribution offering's upper thigh from the _⌊Israelites_⌋* out of their fellowship offerings' sacrifices, and I have given them to Aaron the priest and his* sons from the _⌊Israelites_⌋* as a lasting rule.'"

²¹ Then* Aaron waved the breast sections and the right upper thigh as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, just as Moses had commanded.

¹⁵ They must bring the thigh of the contribution offering and the breast section of the wave offering in addition to the offerings made by fire, consisting of the fat portions, to wave as a wave offering _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh; and it will be for you and for your sons with you as a lasting rule, just as Yahweh had commanded."

¹¹ And he shall wave the sheaf _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh for your acceptance; the priest shall wave it _⌊on the day after_⌋* the Sabbath.

²⁵ The priest will take the grain offering of jealousy from the hand of the woman, and he will wave the grain offering _⌊before Yahweh_⌋,* and he will present it to the altar;

¹⁸ But their flesh will be for you like the breast section of the wave offering, and it will be for you like the right upper thigh.

¹⁰ for you will not abandon my soul to Sheol; you will not give your faithful one to see the grave. ¹¹ You will make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. At your right hand are pleasures forever.

⁷ Go—eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart! For God already has approved your deeds.

⁶ And on this mountain Yahweh of hosts will make for all peoples a _⌊rich feast_⌋,* a feast of aged wines, fat filled with marrow, filtered aged wine.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of Yahweh shall return, and they shall come to Zion with rejoicing. And everlasting joy shall be on their head; joy and gladness shall overtake them, and sorrow and sighing shall flee.

¹⁰ Yet* Yahweh was pleased to crush him; he _⌊made him sick_⌋.* If she* places* his life a guilt offering,* he will see offspring. He will prolong days, and the will of Yahweh will succeed in his hand. ¹¹ From the trouble of his life* he will see;* he will be satisfied. In his knowledge, the righteous one, my servant, shall declare many righteous,* and he is the one who will bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore, I will divide to him a portion among the many,* and with the strong ones he will divide bounty, _⌊because_⌋* he poured his life out to death and was counted with the transgressors; and* he was the one who bore the sin of many and will intercede for the transgressors.

¹⁵ Yahweh of hosts will defend them, and they will devour and subdue the slingstones;* they will drink, they will make noise* like wine, and they will be full like the sacrificial basin,* drenched like the corners of an altar.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the young women.

⁷ And the people of Ephraim will be like a warrior, and their heart will be glad as with wine. And their children will see and rejoice; their heart will shout in exultation in Yahweh.

²⁹ But I tell you, from now on I will never drink of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father."

²⁵ Truly I say to you that I will never drink of the fruit of the vine any longer until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

⁴ I have glorified you on earth by* completing the work that you have given me _⌊to do_⌋.* ⁵ And now, Father, you glorify me _⌊at your side_⌋* with the glory that I had _⌊at your side_⌋* before the world existed.

³⁰ Then when he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, "It is completed,"* and bowing his* head, he gave up his* spirit.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have completed the race, I have kept the faith. ⁸ Finally, the crown of righteousness is reserved for me, that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

²⁹ " 'This is the regulation of jealousy, when a woman has an affair under her husband and she is defiled,

⁶⁹ According to their ability they gave to the treasury room for the work sixty-one thousand darics of gold, five thousand minas of silver, and one hundred priestly tunics.

⁶ Now the one who is taught the word must share in all good things with the one who teaches.

¹⁶ And do not neglect doing good and generosity, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

¹⁹ And he blessed him and said,
"Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Maker of heaven and earth. ²⁰ And blessed be God Most High who delivered your enemies into your hand."
And he* gave to him a tenth of everything.

⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, "You are our sister; may you become countless thousands; and may your offspring take possession of the gate of his enemies."

²⁷ And he drew near and kissed him. And he* smelled the smell of his garments, and he blessed him and said,
"Look, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that Yahweh has blessed! ²⁸ May God give you of the dew of heaven and of the fatness of the earth, and abundance of grain and new wine. ²⁹ Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you; Be lord of your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. Cursed be those cursing you, and blessed be those blessing you."

³ Now, may El-Shaddai* bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, so that you become an assembly of peoples. ⁴ And may he give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your descendants with you, that you may take possession of the land of your sojourning, which God gave to Abraham."

⁷ Then Joseph brought his father Jacob and presented him before Pharaoh. And Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

¹⁰ And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and he went out from the presence of Pharaoh.

²⁰ So he blessed them that day, saying,
Through you Israel shall pronounce blessing, saying, 'May God make you like Ephraim and like Manasseh.'"
So he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

²² Then* Aaron lifted his hand toward* the people, and he blessed them, and he came down _⌊after_⌋* _⌊sacrificing_⌋* the sin offering and the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings. ²³ Then* Moses and Aaron entered the tent of assembly. When* they came out, they blessed* the people, and Yahweh's glory appeared to all the people.

⁸ At that time Yahweh set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to stand _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, to serve him and to bless the people in his name until this day.

⁵ Then the priests, the descendants* of Levi, shall come near, for Yahweh your God has chosen them to bless in the name of Yahweh, and every legal dispute and every case of assault will be _⌊subject to their ruling_⌋.*

¹ Now* this is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the _⌊Israelites_⌋* _⌊before_⌋* his death.

³³ Then all Israel, _⌊foreigner as well as native_⌋,* with the elders, officials, and judges stood _⌊on either side_⌋* of the ark before the priests and the Levites, who carried the ark of the covenant of Yahweh. Half of them stood in front of Mount Gerizim, and the other half in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses Yahweh's servant had commanded before to bless the people of Israel.

¹³ The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was set apart to consecrate the most holy things. He and his sons were to burn offerings forever before Yahweh to serve him and to bless in his name forever.

⁵⁰ And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. ⁵¹ And it happened that while he was blessing them, he parted from them and was taken up into heaven.

⁹ Save your people and bless your heritage. Shepherd them also and carry them always.

¹¹ For he will command his angels concerning you, to watch over you in all your ways.

⁴ Look, he will not slumber and he will not sleep— he who protects Israel. ⁵ Yahweh is your protector; Yahweh is your shade at your right hand. ⁶ The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. ⁷ Yahweh will protect you from all evil;* he will protect your life.

³ May Yahweh bless you from Zion, he who made heaven and earth.

³ I, Yahweh, am her keeper; I water it _⌊again and again_⌋.* Lest one afflict harm on it, I guard it night and day;

³ For not with their sword did they possess the land, and their arm did not give them victory. Rather it was your right hand and your arm and the light of your presence, because you delighted in them.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who know the joyful shout; O Yahweh, they walk about in the light of your countenance.

³ You will protect a firm inclination in peace, in peace because he trusts in you.

¹² Yahweh, you will establish peace for us, for you have done even all of our works for us.

³⁶ As for* the message that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ—this one is Lord of all—

¹ Therefore, because we* have been declared righteous by faith, we have* peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

³³ Now may the God of peace be with all of you. Amen.

¹³ But Moses said to God, "Look, if I go to the _⌊Israelites_⌋* and I say to them, 'The God of your ancestors* has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is his name?' then what shall I say to them?" ¹⁴ And God said to Moses, "I am that I am." And he said, "So you must say to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* 'I am sent me to you.'" ¹⁵ And God said again to Moses, "So you must say to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* 'Yahweh, the God of your ancestors,* the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is my name forever, and this is my remembrance from generation to generation.'

³ And I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Shaddai,* but by my name Yahweh I was not known to them.

⁵ And Yahweh descended in the cloud, and he stood with him there, and he proclaimed the name of Yahweh. ⁶ And Yahweh passed over before him, and he proclaimed, "Yahweh, Yahweh, God, who is compassionate and gracious, _⌊slow to anger_⌋,* and abounding with* loyal love and faithfulness, ⁷ keeping loyal love to the thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and he does not leave utterly unpunished, punishing the guilt of fathers on sons and on sons of sons on third and fourth generations."

²⁰ Behold, I have received a command to bless; when he has blessed, I cannot cause it to return.

¹⁰ And all of the peoples of the earth shall see that _⌊by the name of Yahweh you are called_⌋,* and _⌊they shall fear you_⌋.*

²³ Who is like your people, like Israel? Israel is the one nation on earth whose God _⌊led them_⌋,* in order to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to do for you* the great and awesome things for your land in the presence of your people whom he redeemed for himself from Egypt, from the nations and their gods.

¹⁰ And Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would surely bless me and enlarge my border. And may your hand be with me, that you would keep me from evil so that it might not harm me!" And God granted what he asked.

¹⁴ then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and will pray and will seek my face and will turn from their evil ways, then I myself shall hear from the heavens and will forgive their sins and heal their land.

¹² For you bless the righteous. O Yahweh, like a* shield you surround him with good favor.

⁷ God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.

¹² Yahweh remembers us; he will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. ¹³ He will bless those who fear Yahweh, the small with the great.

⁷ everyone who is called by my name, and whom I created for my glory, whom I formed, indeed whom I made."

⁹ Why should you be like a confused man, like a warrior who is not able to help? Yet you are in our midst, O Yahweh, and your name is called upon us. You must not leave us!

¹⁸ Incline your ear, my God, and listen; open your eyes and look at our desolation and the city that is called by your name, for we are not presenting our pleas for mercy _⌊before you_⌋* because of our righteousness, but rather because of your great compassion. ¹⁹ Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, pay heed and act! You must not delay _⌊for your sake_⌋,* my God; because _⌊your city and your people are called by your name_⌋."*

¹⁹ Therefore, go* and* make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

³ Blessed is* the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
