¹ I made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I look intently on a virgin?

² The sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were good. And they took wives for themselves from all those whom they chose.

² And it happened at evening time, David rose up from his bed and walked up and down on the roof of the king's house. And he saw from the roof a woman bathing. And the woman was very good of form. ³ And David sent and asked about the woman. And one said, Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? ⁴ And David sent messengers and took her. And she came to him, and he lay with her. And she purified herself from uncleanness, and she returned to her house.

³⁷ Turn my eyes from seeing vanity; in Your way give me life.

²⁵ Let your eyes look straight ahead, and let your eyelids look straight before you.

²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, and do not let her take you with her eyelids,

³¹ Do not look at the wine when it is red, when it gives its color in the cup, when it goes down smoothly, ³² at its last it bites like a snake, and it stings like a basilisk. ³³ Your eyes shall look on strange women, and your heart shall speak perverse things;

²⁸ But I say to you, Everyone looking at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. ²⁹ But if your right eye offends you, take it out and throw it from you, for it is profitable to you that one of your members should perish and all your body not be thrown into Hell.

¹⁴ But each one is tempted by his own lusts, having been drawn out and having been seduced by them . ¹⁵ Then being conceived, lust brings forth sin. And sin being fully formed brings forth death.

¹⁶ because all that which is in the world: the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
