¹ If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it or sell it, he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. ² If a thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, no blood shall be shed for him. ³ If the sun is risen upon him, blood is due for him. He should repay in full. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. ⁴ If the theft is certainly found in his hand alive, whether it is an ox, or an ass, or a sheep, he shall restore double. ⁵ If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his animal, and shall feed in another man's field; he shall repay from the best of his own field, and the best of his own vineyard. ⁶ If fire breaks out and catches in thorns, so that the stacks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field, is burned up, he who kindled the fire shall surely repay in full. ⁷ If a man shall deliver to his neighbor silver or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man's house; if the thief is found, let him pay double. ⁸ If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges, whether he has put his hand to his neighbor's goods. ⁹ For every case of trespass, for ox, for ass, for sheep, for clothing, for any kind of lost thing, which another claims to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges. Whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double to his neighbor. ¹⁰ If a man delivers to his neighbor an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies, or is hurt, or driven away, no one seeing, ¹¹ an oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, that he has not put his hand to his neighbor's goods. And the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make it good. ¹² And if it is stolen from him, he shall fully repay the owner of it. ¹³ If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn. ¹⁴ And if a man borrows from his neighbor, and it is hurt, or dies, and the owner of it not with it, he shall surely make it good. ¹⁵ If the owner of it is with it, he shall not make it good. If it is hired, it came for its hire. ¹⁶ And if a man lures a virgin who is not promised, and lies with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. ¹⁷ If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. ¹⁸ You shall not allow a sorceress to live. ¹⁹ Anyone lying with an animal shall surely be put to death. ²⁰ One sacrificing to a god, except it is to Jehovah only, he shall be utterly destroyed. ²¹ You shall neither vex a stranger nor oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. ²² You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child. ²³ If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry. ²⁴ And My wrath shall become hot, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall be widows, and your sons fatherless. ²⁵ If you lend money to one of My people who is poor beside you, you shall not be to him as a money-lender, neither shall you lay upon him interest. ²⁶ If you at all take your neighbor's clothing as a pledge, you shall deliver it to him by the time the sun goes down. ²⁷ For that is his covering only, it is his clothing for his skin. In what shall he sleep? And it will be, when he cries to Me, I will hear, for I am gracious. ²⁸ You shall not revile God, nor curse the ruler of your people. ²⁹ You shall not delay giving the fullness of your crops and juices of your vintage. You shall give the first-born of your sons to Me. ³⁰ Likewise you shall do with your oxen and with your sheep; it shall be with its dam seven days. On the eighth day you shall give it to Me. ³¹ And you shall be holy men to Me. Neither shall you eat flesh torn by beasts in the field. You shall throw it to the dogs.

¹ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ² If a soul sins, and acts unfaithfully against Jehovah, and lies to his neighbor as to a deposit-- or as to security, or by robbery, or has extorted his neighbor, ³ or has found that which was lost and lies concerning it and swears falsely-- in any of all these that a man does, sinning in it, ⁴ then, it shall be, because he sinned and is guilty, he shall pay back that which he got by robbery, if he robbed; or the thing extorted which he extorted; or the deposit which had been deposited with him; or the lost thing which he had found; ⁵ or all that which he swore about falsely, --he shall even repay it in its principal, and the fifth part he shall add to it, to whomever it belongs. He shall give it on the day of his guilt offering. ⁶ And he shall bring his trespass offering to Jehovah, a ram without blemish out of the flock, together with an amount set by you, for a trespass offering, to the priest.

⁷ then they shall confess their sin which they have done. And he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, and add to it one fifth of it, and give it to him against whom he has sinned.

⁶ And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.

³¹ but if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the goods of his house.

⁴ Where no cattle are, the stall is clean, but much gain is by the strength of the ox.

⁸ And Zaccheus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor. And in anything I accused anyone falsely, I restore it fourfold.

²⁷ and if the avenger of blood finds him outside the borders of the city of his refuge, and if the avenger of blood kills the slayer, he shall not be guilty of blood,

¹⁴ The murderer rising with the light kills the poor and needy, and in the night he is a thief.

⁵ They are driven forth from the midst; they cried against them as a thief.

¹ When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was uncovered, and the wickedness of Samaria. For they have worked falsehood. And the thief comes in, the troop of robbers plunders outside.

⁹ They shall rush on the city; they shall run on the wall; they shall climb up on the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

¹⁹ Do not lay up treasures on earth for yourselves, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. ²⁰ But lay up treasures in Heaven for yourselves, where neither moth nor rust corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.

⁴³ But know this, that if the steward of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be dug through.

² For you yourselves know accurately that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.

² If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years. And in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

¹⁴ And the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel, and He delivered them into the hand of spoilers who spoiled them. And He sold them into the hand of their enemies all around, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

⁷ And the anger of Jehovah was hot against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and into the hands of the sons of Ammon.

¹ So says Jehovah, Where is your mother's bill of divorce, whom I have put away? Or to which of My creditors have I sold you? Behold, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother is put away for your sins.

²⁵ But as he had nothing to pay, his lord commanded that he, and his wife and children, and all that he had, be sold, and payment be made.

¹⁶ And he that steals a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.

² Speak lovingly to the heart of Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is done, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received of Jehovah's hand double for all her sins.

¹⁸ And first I will twice repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have defiled My land, they have filled My inheritance with the dead bodies of their abominable things.

⁶ Reward her as she has rewarded you, and double to her double, according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix double to her.

³⁴ the owner of the pit shall make it good and give silver to its owner. And the dead shall be his.

¹² And if it is stolen from him, he shall fully repay the owner of it.

¹⁸ giving back his gain, and he will not eat. As to the wealth of his trading, even he shall not enjoy it.

³³ And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit, and not cover it, and an ox or an ass falls in it, ³⁴ the owner of the pit shall make it good and give silver to its owner. And the dead shall be his.

⁴ And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes and took fire brands, and turned tail to tail, and put a fire brand in the middle between two tails. ⁵ And he set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up both the shocks and also the standing grain, with the vineyards and olives.

³⁰ And he said to his servants, See, Joab's field is near mine, and he has barley there. Go and set it on fire! And Absalom's servants set the field on fire. ³¹ And Joab arose and came to Absalom's house, and said to him, Why have your servants set my field on fire?

⁴ If the theft is certainly found in his hand alive, whether it is an ox, or an ass, or a sheep, he shall restore double.

³⁰ They do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; ³¹ but if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the goods of his house.

²⁶ As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their rulers, and their priests, and their prophets;

⁶ He said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and held the moneybag and carried the things put in.

¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

⁶ his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door or to the door-post. And his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.

²⁸ You shall not revile God, nor curse the ruler of your people.

¹⁸ You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, tribe by tribe. And they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.

⁸ If a matter is too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, matters of strife within your gates, then you shall arise and go up to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose. ⁹ And you shall come to the priests of the Levites, and to the judge that shall be in those days, and ask. And they shall declare to you the sentence of judgment.

¹⁷ then both the men who are disagreeing shall stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges which shall be in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges shall make careful inquiry. And behold, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother,

⁴ Of these, twenty-four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of Jehovah, and six thousand officers and judges.

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. God stands in the congregation of the mighty; in the midst of the gods He judges.

²¹ And you shall look out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating unjust gain. And place such over them to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. ²² And let them judge the people at all times. And it shall be, every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge. And make it easier for yourself, and they shall bear with you.

⁷ If a man shall deliver to his neighbor silver or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man's house; if the thief is found, let him pay double. ⁸ If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges, whether he has put his hand to his neighbor's goods.

⁶ You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his cause. ⁷ Keep far from a false matter, and do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked. ⁸ And you shall take no bribe, for the bribe blinds the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

⁶ Speak to the sons of Israel: When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to commit a trespass against Jehovah, and that person is guilty, ⁷ then they shall confess their sin which they have done. And he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, and add to it one fifth of it, and give it to him against whom he has sinned.

¹⁸ You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, tribe by tribe. And they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. ¹⁹ You shall not pervert judgment; you shall not respect persons, nor take a gift. For a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

¹ If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and they have been judged, and the righteous one is declared righteous, and the wrongdoer declared guilty,

³¹ If any man sins against his neighbor, and if an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and if the oath comes before Your altar in this house,

¹⁰ And whatever cause shall come to you from your brothers that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, you shall even warn them so that they do not sin against Jehovah, and wrath come on you and your brothers. Do this and you shall not sin.

¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; ¹⁵ but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

¹⁵ But if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.

³⁵ So likewise shall My heavenly Father do also to you, unless each one of you from your hearts forgive his brother their trespasses.

³ Take heed to yourselves. If your brother trespasses against you, rebuke him. And if he repents, forgive him. ⁴ And if he trespasses against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turns again to you, saying, I repent, you shall forgive him.

⁸ But he refused and said to his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what is in the house with me, and he has given all that he has into my hand.

⁴⁸ But he not knowing, and doing things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For to whomever much is given, of him much shall be required. And to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

¹¹ Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust the true riches to you?

¹² For this cause I also suffer these things; but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to guard My deposit unto that Day.

⁸ If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges, whether he has put his hand to his neighbor's goods.

¹ You shall not raise a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

¹ And if a soul sins and hears the voice of swearing, and is a witness, and he has seen or known, if he does not tell it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

³ or has found that which was lost and lies concerning it and swears falsely-- in any of all these that a man does, sinning in it,

⁴² And the king sent and called for Shimei and said to him, Did I not make you swear by Jehovah, and warn you, saying, In the day you go out, and you have gone anywhere, you certainly shall know that you shall surely die? And you said to me, The word I have heard is good. ⁴³ Why then have you not kept the oath of Jehovah and the command that I have charged you with?

⁹ lest I be full and deceive, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or lest I be poor, and steal, and violate the name of my God.

¹⁶ For men truly swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

³⁹ That which was mangled I did not bring to you; I bore the loss of it. You required it at my hand, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.

¹⁴ Then I said, Ah Lord Jehovah! Behold, my soul has not been defiled. For from my youth up, even till now, I have not eaten of that which dies of itself, or is torn in pieces; neither did there come any unclean flesh into my mouth.

¹² So says Jehovah: As the shepherd takes two legs out of the mouth of the lion, or a piece of an ear; so shall the sons of Israel be taken out, those who dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus on a couch.

⁸ And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goes through, both tramples and tears in pieces. And there is none to snatch back.

¹² The lion tears in pieces enough for his cubs, and strangles for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with torn prey.

¹¹ an oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, that he has not put his hand to his neighbor's goods. And the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make it good.

¹⁸ And he who kills an animal shall make it good, animal for animal.

² And this is the manner of the release. Every man who has a loan to his neighbor shall release it. He shall not exact it from his neighbor, or from his brother, because it is called Jehovah's release.

¹⁹ You shall not lend for interest to your brother, interest of silver, interest of food, interest of anything that is loaned on interest. ²⁰ You may lend on interest to a stranger, but you shall not lend on interest to your brother, so that Jehovah your God may bless you in all that you set your hand to in the land where you go to possess it.

⁴ And some said, We have borrowed money on our lands and vineyards for the king's tax.

²¹ The wicked borrows, and never pays again; but the righteous shows mercy, and gives.

⁴² Give to him who asks of you, and you shall not turn away from him who would borrow from you.

³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. And your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and to the evil.

¹⁰ For before these days there was no payment for man, nor was there payment for animal; and there was no peace to him from the adversary who went out or came in. For I sent every man, a man against his neighbor.

² And when Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and humbled her. ³ And his soul clung to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke to the heart of the girl. ⁴ And Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, Get me this girl for a wife.

²⁸ If a man finds a girl, a virgin not engaged, and lays hold on her, and lies with her, and they are found, ²⁹ then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife. Because he has humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

¹⁶ And Abraham listened to Ephron. And Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, which passes with the merchant.

¹² Heap upon me ever so much price and dowry, and I will give according as you shall say to me. But give me the girl for a wife.

³ Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to his son, nor shall you take his daughter to your son. ⁴ For they will turn away your son from following Me, so that they may serve other gods. So the anger of Jehovah will be kindled against you and will destroy you suddenly.

²⁹ then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife. Because he has humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

²⁵ And Saul said, You shall say this to David, The king does not desire any dowry except a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

²⁶ You shall not eat anything with the blood. You shall not divine, nor conjure spirits.

³¹ You shall not turn to mediums, and you shall not seek to spirit-knowers to be defiled by them. I am Jehovah your God.

⁶ And the soul that turns to mediums, and to spirit-knowers, to go lusting after them, I will even set My face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

²⁷ A man also or woman that has a medium or that is a necromancer, shall surely be put to death. They shall stone them with stones. Their blood is on them.

¹⁰ There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, an observer of clouds, or a fortune-teller, or a witch, ¹¹ or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or one who calls to the dead.

³ And Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned him and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away the mediums and the spirit-knowers out of the land.

⁹ And the woman said to him, Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off mediums, and the spirit-knowers, out of the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?

³ And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst of it, and I will destroy its wisdom. And they shall seek to idols, and to the enchanters, and to the mediums, and to the future-tellers.

⁹ But a certain man called Simon had long been conjuring in the city, and amazing the nation of Samaria, claiming himself to be some great one. ¹⁰ All gave heed to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, This one is the great power of God. ¹¹ And they were paying attention to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with conjuring.

¹⁶ And as we went to prayer, it happened that a certain girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by divining. ¹⁷ The same followed Paul and us and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the Most High God, who are announcing to us the way of salvation. ¹⁸ And she did this many days. But being distressed, and turning to the demonic spirit, Paul said, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her! And it came out in that hour. ¹⁹ And when her masters saw that the hope of their gain went out, having seized Paul and Silas, they dragged them to the market before the rulers.

¹⁹ Also many of those practicing the curious arts, bringing together the books, burned them before all. And they counted the prices of them and found it to be fifty thousand pieces of silver.

²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies,

¹⁵ But outside are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and makes a lie.

²³ And you shall not lie with any animal to defile yourself with it. And a woman shall not stand before an animal to lie down to it. It is a perversion.

²⁵ And the land is defiled. Therefore I visit its wickedness on it, and the land itself vomits out those who live in it.

¹⁵ And if a man lies with an animal, he shall surely be put to death. And you shall kill the animal. ¹⁶ And if a woman goes up to any animal and lies down with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal. They shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be on them.

²¹ Cursed is he who lies with any kind of animal. And all the people shall say, Amen.

³ And Jehovah listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites. And they completely destroyed them and their cities. And he called the name of the place Hormah.

² And they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods. And the people ate and bowed down to their gods. ³ And Israel joined himself to Baal-peor. And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel. ⁴ And Jehovah said to Moses, Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before Jehovah against the sun, so that the fierce anger of Jehovah may be turned away from Israel.

⁷ And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation and took a spear in his hand. ⁸ And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and pierced both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman, through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the sons of Israel.

¹ If a prophet rises among you, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder, ² and the sign or the wonder which he foretold to you occurs, saying, Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us serve them, ³ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For Jehovah your God is testing you to know whether you love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul. ⁴ You shall walk after Jehovah your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments, and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. ⁵ And that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken to turn you away from Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slaves, to thrust you out of the way in which Jehovah your God commanded you to walk. So you shall put the evil away from the midst of you. ⁶ If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is like your own soul, lures you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods which you have not known, you nor your fathers, ⁷ that is, of the gods of the people who are around you, near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth, ⁸ you shall not consent to him nor listen to him. Nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare, nor shall you hide him. ⁹ But you shall surely kill him. Your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. ¹⁰ And you shall stone him with stones so that he dies, because he has sought to drive you away from Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slaves. ¹¹ And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this among you. ¹² If, in one of your cities which Jehovah your God has given you to dwell in, you shall hear one saying, ¹³ Men, the sons of Belial, have gone out from among you and have drawn away those who live in their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known, ¹⁴ then you shall inquire and make search, and ask carefully. And behold, if it is true, and the thing is certain, that such an abomination is done among you, ¹⁵ you shall surely strike those who live in that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it completely, and all that is in it, and all the cattle of it, with the edge of the sword.

² If there is found among you, inside any of your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, a man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of Jehovah your God, in breaking His covenant, ³ and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, ⁴ and if it is told you, and you have heard and inquired carefully, and, behold, it is true and the thing is certain, such abomination is done in Israel; ⁵ then you shall bring forth that man or that woman who has committed that evil thing, to your gates, even that man or that woman, and shall stone them with stones until they die.

²⁰ But the prophet who shall presume to speak a word in My name which I have not commanded him to speak or who shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

¹⁵ And it shall be, as comes to you every good thing which Jehovah your God has spoken to you has come to you, so shall Jehovah bring on you every evil thing until He has destroyed you from off this good land which Jehovah your God has given you, ¹⁶ when you transgress the covenant of Jehovah your God, which He commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them, then shall the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land which He has given to you.

² I am Jehovah your God, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

⁹ Also you shall not oppress a stranger. For you know the heart of a stranger, since you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

³³ And if a stranger lives with you in your land, you shall not oppress him.

³⁵ And if your brother has become poor, and his hand has failed with you, then you shall help him; yes, even if he is a stranger or a tenant, so that he may live with you.

¹⁹ Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

¹⁵ And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah your God redeemed you. Therefore I command you this thing today.

⁷ You shall not despise an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not despise an Egyptian, because you were a stranger in his land.

⁶ if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your hurt;

³ So says Jehovah, Do judgment and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the oppressors's hand. And do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

¹⁰ And do not crush the widow or the orphan, the alien or the poor. And do not devise evil in your heart, of a man against his brother.

⁵ And I will come near you to judgment. And I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those who extort from the hired laborer's wages, and turning away the widow, and the orphan, the alien, and not fearing Me, says Jehovah of Hosts.

¹⁸ He executes justice for the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger in giving him food and clothing.

¹⁷ You shall not pervert the rightful judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's clothing to pledge.

¹⁹ Cursed is he who perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

⁶ They kill the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. ⁷ Yet they say, Jehovah shall not see, nor shall the God of Jacob observe it.

¹⁷ learn to do good; seek judgment, reprove the oppressor. Judge the orphan, plead for the widow.

²³ your rulers are rebellious, and companions of thieves; everyone loves a bribe, and is pursuing rewards; they do not judge the orphan, nor does the cause of the widow come to them.

² to turn aside the needy from judgment, and to steal the right from the poor of My people, that widows may be their prey, and they rob the orphans!

⁷ In you they have despised father and mother. In your midst they have dealt with the stranger by oppression. In you they oppressed the orphan and the widow.

²⁷ Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their afflictions, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

⁹ Beware that there is not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand, and your eye may be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing. And he may cry to Jehovah against you, and it is sin to you.

¹⁵ At his day you shall give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down on it. For he is poor and sets his heart on it; lest he cry against you to Jehovah, and it shall be sin to you.

³⁸ If my lands cry against me, or its furrows weep together; ³⁹ if I have eaten its strength without silver, or have caused its owner to expire,

²⁸ so as to cause the cry of the poor to come to Him, for He hears the cry of the afflicted.

⁹ From the host of tyrannies they cry out; they cry out because of the arm of the multitude.

¹⁷ Jehovah, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart, You will cause Your ear to hear, ¹⁸ to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, so that the man of the earth may no more terrify.

⁶ In my distress I called on Jehovah, and I cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry came before Him, into His ears.

¹² I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted and the right of the poor.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

⁷ who carries out judgment for the mistreated; who gives food to the hungry. Jehovah lets the prisoners loose; ⁸ the Lord opens the eyes of the blind; Jehovah raises those who are bowed down; Jehovah loves the righteous; ⁹ Jehovah preserves the strangers; He relieves the orphan and widow, but the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

²² Do not rob the poor, because he is poor; nor press down the afflicted in the gate; ²³ for Jehovah will plead their cause, and strip the soul of those who plunder them.

¹⁰ Do not remove the old landmarks, and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless; ¹¹ for their Redeemer is mighty; He shall plead their cause with you.

⁷ And shall not God avenge His own elect who cry day and night to Him, though He has been long-suffering over them?

⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers reaping your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of those who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.

¹³ This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the inheritance of cruel men which they shall receive from the Almighty. ¹⁴ If his sons are multiplied, the sword is for them; and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread. ¹⁵ Those who remain of him shall be buried in death; and his widows shall not weep.

²³ For trouble from God is a terror to me, and I could not do anything because of His highness.

²⁴ Pour out Your wrath on them, and let the glow of Your anger take hold of them.

⁷ You, even You, are terrifying, and who can stand when once You are angry?

⁶³ The fire burned up their young men; and their maidens were not given in marriage. ⁶⁴ Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows were not able to weep.

¹¹ Who knows the power of Your anger? And as Your fear is, so is Your wrath.

⁹ Let his sons be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

⁸ Their widows are more numerous about Me than the sand of the seas; I have brought on them, against a mother of a young man, a ravager at noonday; I have caused anguish and terror to fall on her suddenly.

²¹ Therefore deliver up their sons to the famine, and give them over to the hand of the sword. And let their wives be bereaved, and widows, and their men be slain of death; let their young men be struck by the sword in battle.

³ We are orphans and fatherless; our mothers are as widows.

⁶ Who can stand before His fury? And who can stand up in the heat of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken down because of Him.

³⁸ Give, and it shall be given to you, good measure pressed down and shaken together and running over, they shall give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure, it shall be measured to you again.

⁵ But according to your hardness and your impenitent heart, do you treasure up wrath for yourself in a day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, ⁶ who will render to each according to his works; ⁷ indeed to those who with patience in good work are seeking for glory, and honor, and incorruptibility, everlasting life. ⁸ But to those who indeed disobeying the truth out of self-seeking, and obeying unrighteousness, will be anger and wrath, ⁹ tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man who has worked out evil; of the Jew first, and also of the Greek.

³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

³⁵ And if your brother has become poor, and his hand has failed with you, then you shall help him; yes, even if he is a stranger or a tenant, so that he may live with you. ³⁶ You shall take no interest from him, or increase. But you shall fear your God, so that your brother may live with you. ³⁷ You shall not give him your silver on interest, nor lend him your food for increase.

¹ And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead. And you know that your servant feared Jehovah. And the lender has come to take my two children to himself for slaves.

⁷ And she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons shall live from the rest.

² For certain ones said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain for them, so that we may eat and live. ³ Some also said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses. Let us buy grain because of the famine. ⁴ And some said, We have borrowed money on our lands and vineyards for the king's tax. ⁵ Yet now our flesh is like the flesh of our brothers, our sons like their sons. And, lo, we bring our sons and our daughters into bondage, to be slaves, and some of our daughters are brought into bondage. And there is no power for our hand, for other men have our lands and vineyards.

⁷ And my heart within myself ruled, and I rebuked the nobles and the rulers, and said to them, You exact interest, each one from his brother. And I held a great gathering against them.

¹⁰ And also I, my brothers and my servants, might take from them silver and grain. Please let us leave this lending at interest. ¹¹ Please even today give back to them their lands, their vineyards, their olive-yards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money and of the grain, the wine, and the oil, that you take from them.

⁵ he has not put out his money at interest, nor has he taken a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall not be moved forever.

⁸ He who increases his wealth by interest and unjust gain, he shall gather it for him who will pity the poor.

¹⁰ Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not loaned, nor have men loaned to me; yet every one curses me.

⁸ he has not given out on usury, nor has taken any increase, he has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has done judgment between man and man,

¹³ has loaned on usury; and has taken increase; shall he then live? He shall not live! He has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be on him.

¹⁷ has withdrawn his hand from the poor; has not received usury nor increase; has done My judgments; has walked in My statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father; he shall surely live.

¹² In you they have taken bribes to shed blood. You have taken usury and increase, and you gained by extortion of your neighbors, and you have forgotten Me, says the Lord Jehovah.

²⁷ then you should have put my money to the exchangers, and coming I would have received my own with interest.

²³ And why did you not give my silver on the bank table, and coming I might have exacted it with interest?

⁶ No man shall take the lower or the upper millstone to pledge, for he takes a man's life to pledge.

¹⁰ When you loan a loan of any kind to your brother, you shall not go into his house to bring forth his pledge. ¹¹ You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you loan shall bring the pledge outside to you. ¹² And if the man is poor, you shall not sleep with his pledge. ¹³ You shall certainly give back to him the pledge at sundown, that he may sleep in his own clothing, and bless you. And it shall be righteousness to you before Jehovah your God.

⁶ For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

³ They drive away the ass of the fatherless; they take the widow's ox for a pledge.

⁹ They pluck the fatherless from the breast, and take a pledge from the poor.

¹⁶ Take the garment of him who is surety for a stranger; and take a pledge from him for strangers.

²⁷ If you have nothing to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?

⁷ and has not ill-treated any man, but has given the debtor's pledge back to him, has robbed none by violence, has given his bread to the hungry and has covered the naked with a garment;

¹⁶ nor has ill-treated any man; has not withheld the pledge; nor has robbed by violence; but has given his bread to the hungry; and has covered the naked with clothes;

¹⁵ if the wicked gives back the pledge, gives again what he had robbed, walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, then he shall surely live; he shall not die.

⁸ And they will stretch beside every altar on garments taken in pledge, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

²³ And it happened after many days the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage. ²⁴ And God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

²³ If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry.

⁶ And Jehovah passed by before him and proclaimed, Jehovah! Jehovah God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

⁹ For if you turn again to Jehovah, your brothers and your sons will have mercies before those who lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land. For Jehovah your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn His face away from you if you return to Him.

⁶ This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard, and saved him out of all his troubles.

¹² For He shall deliver the needy when he cries; and the poor with no helper.

¹⁵ But You, O God, are God full of pity, and gracious, long-suffering, and rich in mercy and truth.

¹⁰ To Him who struck Egypt in their first-born; for His mercy endures forever; ¹¹ and brought Israel out from among them, for His mercy endures forever;

²⁰ And it shall be for a sign and for a witness to Jehovah of Hosts in the land of Egypt. For they shall cry to Jehovah because of the oppressors, and He shall send them a deliverer, and a great one, and will deliver them.

¹⁷ And he that curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

⁸ If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges, whether he has put his hand to his neighbor's goods. ⁹ For every case of trespass, for ox, for ass, for sheep, for clothing, for any kind of lost thing, which another claims to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges. Whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double to his neighbor.

¹⁶ And he that blasphemes the Name of Jehovah shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall surely stone him. And the stranger as well, even as he that is born in the land; when he blasphemes the Name, he shall be put to death.

⁶ And he said to his men, Far be it from me, by Jehovah, if I will do this thing to my lord, Jehovah's anointed, to stretch forth my hand against him, since he is the anointed of Jehovah.

¹⁰ Behold, your eyes have seen today how Jehovah had delivered you today into my hand in the cave. And one said to kill you. But I had pity on you. And I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord, for he is Jehovah's anointed.

⁹ And David said to Abishai, Do not destroy him. For who can stretch forth his hand against Jehovah's anointed and be guiltless?

⁶ For this let every godly one pray to You, in a time when You may be found; surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near him.

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. God stands in the congregation of the mighty; in the midst of the gods He judges. ² How long will you judge unjustly and lift up the faces of the wicked? Selah. ³ Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. ⁴ Deliver the poor and needy; save them out of the hand of the wicked. ⁵ They neither know nor will understand; they walk on in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. ⁶ I have said, You are gods; and all of you sons of the Most High. ⁷ But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

¹ A Psalm of David. I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praise to You.

²⁰ Do not curse a king, no, not in your thought; and do not curse the rich in your bedroom; for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which has wings shall tell the matter.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your Law, "I said, You are gods?" ³⁵ If He called those gods with whom the Word of God was, and the Scripture cannot be broken,

³ Then Paul said to him, God shall strike you, whitened wall! For do you sit judging me according to the Law, and against law command me to be stricken?

⁵ Then Paul said, I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest; for it is written, "You shall not speak evil of the ruler of your people."

² So that the one resisting the authority resists the ordinance of God; and the ones who resist will receive judgment to themselves. ³ For the rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the bad. And do you desire to be not afraid of the authority? Do the good, and you shall have praise from it. ⁴ For it is a servant of God to you for good. For if you practice evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword in vain; for it is a servant of God, a revenger for wrath on him who does evil. ⁵ Therefore you must be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience' sake. ⁶ For because of this you also pay taxes. For they are God's servants, always giving attention to this very thing. ⁷ Therefore give to all their dues; to the one due tax, the tax; tribute to whom tribute is due, fear to whom fear is due, and honor to whom honor is due.

¹ Put them in mind to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to every good work, ² to speak evil of no one, not being quarrelsome, but forbearing, showing all meekness to all men.

¹⁷ Honor all. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

¹⁰ and especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise dominion. They are darers, self-pleasing; not trembling at glories, speaking evil.

⁸ Likewise, indeed, also these dreaming ones even defile flesh, and despise rulership, and speak evil of glories.

² Sanctify all the first-born to Me, whatever opens the womb among the sons of Israel, of man and of beast. It is Mine.

¹² you shall set apart to Jehovah every one that opens the womb, and every first-born that comes of any animal which you have; the males shall be Jehovah's.

¹⁶ Also the Feast of Harvest, the first-fruits of your labors, which you have sown in the field. Also the Feast of Ingathering, in the end of the year, when you have gathered in your labors out of the field.

¹⁹ The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of Jehovah your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

¹⁹ All that opens the womb is Mine; and all your male livestock, a firstling of ox or sheep.

² you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the earth which you shall bring of your land that Jehovah your God gives you, and you shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which Jehovah your God shall choose to place His name there. ³ And you shall go to the priest in those days, and say to him, I profess today to Jehovah your God that I have come into the land which Jehovah swore to our fathers to give us. ⁴ And the priest shall take the basket out of your hand and set it down before the altar of Jehovah your God. ⁵ And you shall speak and say before Jehovah your God, My father was a Syrian ready to perish. And he went down to Egypt, and stayed there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and many. ⁶ And the Egyptians ill-treated us, and afflicted us, and laid hard bondage on us. ⁷ And when we cried to Jehovah, the God of our fathers, Jehovah heard our voice and looked on our afflictions and our labor and our oppression. ⁸ And Jehovah brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fearful might, and with miracles and with wonders. ⁹ And He has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, a land that flows with milk and honey. ¹⁰ And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land which You, O Jehovah, have given me. And you shall set it before Jehovah your God, and worship before Jehovah your God.

⁴² And a man came from Baal-shalisha and brought the man of God bread from the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley and full ears of grain in his sack. And he said, Give to the people that they may eat.

⁵ And as the command spread, the sons of Israel brought plentifully of the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field. And the tithe of all things they brought in abundance.

⁹ Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; ¹⁰ and your barns shall be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst with new wine.

⁴⁰ For in My holy mountain, in the mountain height of Israel, says the Lord Jehovah, there all the house of Israel, all of those in the land, shall serve Me. There will I receive them, and there will I ask for your offerings and the firstfruits of your offerings, with all your holy things.

¹ Woe is me! For I am like the gatherings of summer fruits, like the grape-gleanings of the vintage. There is no cluster to eat; my soul desires the first-ripe fruit.

³³ But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

²³ And not only so, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruit of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, awaiting adoption, the redemption of our body.

¹⁸ Of His own will He brought us forth with the Word of truth, for us to be a certain firstfruit of His creatures.

³ And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

²⁷ When a bull or a lamb or a goat is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam. And from the eighth day and from then on, it shall be accepted for a fire offering to Jehovah.

¹⁹ All the first-born males that come from your herd and from your flock, you shall set apart to Jehovah your God. You shall do no work with the first-born of your bull, nor shear the first-born of your sheep.

⁵ And now if you will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure to Me above all the nations; for all the earth is Mine. ⁶ And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

⁴⁴ For I am Jehovah your God, and you shall sanctify yourselves, and you shall be holy, for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any kind of swarming thing that swarms on the earth. ⁴⁵ For I am Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

¹⁵ And any soul that eats a dead body, or a torn thing, whether a native or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening. Then he shall be clean. ¹⁶ But if he does not wash, nor bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.

² Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I, Jehovah your God, am holy.

²⁵ And you shall make a difference between clean animals and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean. And you shall not defile your souls by beast, or by fowl, or by any kind of living thing that creeps on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.

⁸ He shall not eat a dead body or one torn, to defile himself with them. I am Jehovah.

²¹ You shall not eat anything that dies of itself. You shall give it to the stranger that is in your gates, so that he may eat it. Or you may sell it to a stranger. For you are a holy people to Jehovah your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

³¹ The priests shall not eat of anything that died of itself, or is torn, whether it is bird or animal.

¹⁴ But Peter said, Not so, Lord, for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.

²⁰ but that we write to them that they should abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

¹⁵ but according to the Holy One who has called you, you also become holy in all conduct, ¹⁶ because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."
