¹ Lo, my eye has seen all this, my ear has heard and understood it. ² What you know, I know also; I do not fall short of you. ³ Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue my case before God. ⁴ But you are imputers of lies; you are all worthless healers. ⁵ Oh that you would stop speaking entirely! And it would be your wisdom. ⁶ Hear now my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips. ⁷ Would you speak unrighteously for God, and talk deceitfully for Him? ⁸ Will you lift up His person, or contend for God? ⁹ Is it good that He should search you out? Or as one man mocks another, do you mock Him? ¹⁰ He will surely blame you, if you secretly lift up persons. ¹¹ Shall not His highness make you afraid, and His dread fall on you? ¹² Your remembered sayings are like ashes, your bodies like bodies of clay. ¹³ Be quiet. Let me alone so that I may speak, and let come on me what may. ¹⁴ Why do I take my flesh in my teeth and put my life in my hand? ¹⁵ Though he slay me, I will not wait, but I will maintain my own ways before Him. ¹⁶ He also is my salvation, for an ungodly one shall not come before Him. ¹⁷ Listen carefully to my words, and let what I say be in your ears. ¹⁸ Behold now, I have set my cause in order; I know that I shall be justified. ¹⁹ Who is he that will plead for me, for now, I would be quiet and expire. ²⁰ Only do not do two things to me; then I will not hide myself from You. ²¹ Withdraw Your hand far from me, and let not Your fear make me afraid. ²² Then call, and I will answer; or let me speak, and answer You me. ²³ How many are my iniquities and sins? Make known my transgressions and my sin. ²⁴ Why do You hide Your face, and hold me for Your enemy? ²⁵ Will You terrify a leaf driven to and fro? Will You pursue the dry stubble? ²⁶ For You write bitter things against me, and make me to possess the sins of my youth. ²⁷ You put my feet also in the stocks, and look closely to all my paths; You set a limit for the soles of my feet. ²⁸ And he wears out like a rotten thing, like a garment that a moth eats.

¹² And a word was secretly brought to me, and my ear received a little of it.

⁹ Who is doing great things, even beyond searching; marvelous things without number, ¹⁰ who gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the field, ¹¹ to set on high those who are low, so that those who mourn may be lifted up to safety; ¹² frustrating the plans of the crafty, nor did their hands do wisely. ¹³ He takes the wise in their own craftiness; and the counsel of the wily is carried headlong. ¹⁴ They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night. ¹⁵ But He saves the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty. ¹⁶ And there is hope for the weak, and injustice shuts her mouth.

²⁷ Behold this: we have searched it; it is so. Hear it and know for yourself.

⁸ For please ask of the former age, and prepare yourself to the search of their fathers, ⁹ for we are but of yesterday and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow. ¹⁰ Shall they not teach you, and tell you, and speak words out of their heart?

⁹ who of all these does not know that the hand of Jehovah has done this? ¹⁰ In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all flesh, even of man? ¹¹ Does not the ear try words? And does not the mouth taste its food? ¹² With the aged is wisdom, and understanding in length of days. ¹³ With Him is wisdom and strength; He has wisdom and understanding. ¹⁴ Behold, He breaks down, and it can not be built up again; He shuts up a man, and no one opens. ¹⁵ Behold, He withholds the waters, and they dry up; also He sends them out, and they overturn the earth. ¹⁶ With Him is strength and sound wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are His. ¹⁷ He leads wise men away stripped, and makes the judges fools. ¹⁸ He cuts away the bonds of kings, and binds their loins with a girdle. ¹⁹ He leads priests away stripped, and overthrows the mighty. ²⁰ He removes the speech of the men of trust, and takes away the understanding of the aged. ²¹ He pours scorn on princes, and unties the belt of the mighty. ²² He discovers deep things out of darkness, and brings the shadow of death to light. ²³ He gives greatness to the nations, and destroys them. He spreads out the nations, and leads them away. ²⁴ He takes away the heart of the chief of the people of the land, and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no path. ²⁵ They grope in the dark without light, and He makes them to stagger like a drunkard.

¹⁷ I will show you; hear me; and what I have seen I will declare, ¹⁸ that which wise men have told, and have not hidden from their fathers;

³ Who is he who hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore I have spoken what I did not understand; things too wonderful for me; yea, I did not know. ⁴ Hear, I beseech You, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You will cause me to know. ⁵ I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye has seen You. ⁶ Therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

³ which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their sons, showing to the generations to come the praises of Jehovah, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He has done.

³ that which we have seen and heard we declare unto you, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

³ But I have understanding as well as you; I do not fall short of you; yes, who does not know such things as these?

⁸ Have you heard the secret counsel of God? And do you limit wisdom to yourself? ⁹ What do you know that we do not know, or understand that is not with us?

³⁵ Job has spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

¹⁶ even Job opens his mouth in vanity; he multiplies words without knowledge.

² Listen carefully to the thunder of His voice, and the rumbling that comes out of His mouth.

⁴ Behold, I am vile! What shall I answer You? I will lay my hand on my mouth. ⁵ Once I have spoken; but I will not answer; yea, twice, but I will go no further.

⁷ And it happened after Jehovah had spoken these words to Job, Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you and your two friends. For you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.

¹ But concerning the sacrifices to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. ² And if any man thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.

⁴ For if, indeed, the one coming proclaims another Jesus, whom we have not proclaimed, or if you receive another spirit, which you did not receive, or another gospel, which you never accepted, you might well endure these . ⁵ For I judge myself to have come behind the highest apostles in nothing.

¹⁶ Again I say, Let no one think me foolish. If otherwise, yet receive me as foolish, so that I may also boast a little. ¹⁷ What I speak, I do not speak according to the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this boldness of boasting. ¹⁸ Since many glory according to the flesh, I also will boast.

¹¹ I have become foolish boasting. You compelled me. For I ought to be commended by you. For I lacked nothing of the highest apostles, if even I am nothing.

³ If he will argue with Him, he cannot answer Him one of a thousand.

¹⁴ How much less shall I answer Him, and choose my arguments with Him? ¹⁵ Whom, though I were righteous, yet I would not answer; I seek mercy for my judgment.

³⁴ Let Him take His rod away from me, and let not His fear make me afraid; ³⁵ then would I speak and not fear Him; for it is not so with me.

⁵ But who will grant that God would speak, and open His lips against you,

¹⁵ Though he slay me, I will not wait, but I will maintain my own ways before Him.

²² Then call, and I will answer; or let me speak, and answer You me.

³ Oh that I knew where I might find Him, that I might come even to His seat! ⁴ I would order my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵ I would know the words which He would answer me, and understand what He would say to me. ⁶ Will He plead against me with His great power? No, surely He would give heed to me. ⁷ There the righteous might reason with Him; and I would be delivered forever from my Judge.

³⁵ Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold my mark. Let the Almighty answer me, and my Accuser write an indictment.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, says Jehovah; though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool. ¹⁹ If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; ²⁰ but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken.

²¹ Bring near your cause, says Jehovah; bring out your strong reasons, says the King of Jacob.

¹ Righteous are You, O Jehovah, that I might contend with You; yet let me speak with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are all those happy who deal treacherously? ² You have planted them; yea, they take root. They grow, yea, they make fruit. You are near in their mouth and far from their reins.

² Mountains, hear Jehovah's case, and the constant foundations of the earth. For Jehovah has a quarrel with His people, and He will plead His case with Israel.

¹⁶ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

⁷ Remember, please, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous cut off? ⁸ As I have seen, the ones who plow iniquity and sow wickedness reap the same. ⁹ By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of His nostrils they are destroyed. ¹⁰ The roar of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken. ¹¹ The strong lion perishes for lack of prey, and the strong lion's cubs are scattered abroad.

¹ Call now, is there anyone who will answer you? And to which of the saints will you turn? ² For vexation kills the fool, and envy slays the simple one. ³ I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling place. ⁴ His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, nor is there any to deliver them. ⁵ Their harvest the hungry eats, and takes it even out of the thorns; and the snare swallows up their wealth.

²¹ Surely now you are like them; you see my casting down, and are afraid.

³ Does God pervert judgment? Or does the Almighty pervert justice? ⁴ If your sons have sinned against Him, and if He has cast them away for their transgression,

² I have heard many such things. You are all miserable comforters.

⁵ Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. ⁶ The light shall be dark in his tent, and his lamp shall be put out with him. ⁷ The steps of his strength shall be hampered, and his own plans shall throw him down. ⁸ For he is thrown into a net by his own feet, and he walks on a net. ⁹ The trap shall take him by the heel, and the noose shall hold sway over him. ¹⁰ The pitfall is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way. ¹¹ Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall dash him at his feet. ¹² His strength shall be hunger-bitten, and trouble shall be ready at his side. ¹³ It shall devour the parts of his skin; the first-born of death consumes his parts. ¹⁴ His hope shall be rooted out of his tent, and you marched to the king of terrors. ¹⁵ What is not his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone shall be scattered on his home. ¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up beneath, and his branch shall wither above. ¹⁷ His memory shall perish from the earth, and there is no name to him on the face of the street. ¹⁸ They drive him from light to darkness, and they make him flee from the world. ¹⁹ He shall have neither son nor kinsman among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings. ²⁰ Those after him shall be amazed at his day; and those before were seized with horror. ²¹ Surely these are the dwellings of the perverse, and this the place that has not known God.

²⁷ Behold, I know your thoughts, and the plots which you wrongfully hatch against me. ²⁸ For you say, Where is the house of the noble, and where the dwelling-places of the wicked? ²⁹ Did you not ask those who go by the way? And do you not know their signs, ³⁰ that the wicked is kept for the day of calamity? They shall be brought to the day of wrath. ³¹ Who shall declare his way to his face? And who shall repay him what he has done? ³² Yet he shall be brought to the grave, and watch shall be kept over his tomb. ³³ And the clods of the valley shall be sweet to him and every man shall draw after him, as there is no numbering of those before him. ³⁴ How then do you comfort me in vain? Yea, in your answers remains transgression.

⁶ For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷ You have not given water to the weary to drink, and you have held back bread from the hungry. ⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the earth, and the honored man lived in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken. ¹⁰ Therefore snares are all around you, and sudden fear troubles you; ¹¹ or darkness, so that you cannot see; and a flood of waters covers you. ¹² Is not God high in Heaven? And behold the leading stars, for they are high. ¹³ And you say, What does God know? Can He judge through the dark cloud? ¹⁴ Clouds are a covering to Him, so that He does not see; and He walks in the circuit of Heaven. ¹⁵ Do you keep to the old way which wicked men have walked? ¹⁶ They were seized, but there was not time; their foundation was poured out by a flood; ¹⁷ who said to God, Depart from us; and, What can the Almighty do to them? ¹⁸ Yet He filled their houses with substance; and the wisdom of the wicked is far from me. ¹⁹ The righteous see it, and are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn. ²⁰ Truly our foe is not cut down, and fire has eaten their wealth. ²¹ Now be of service with Him, and be at peace. Good shall come to you by them. ²² Please receive the Law from His mouth and lay up His words in your heart. ²³ If you return to the Almighty, you shall be built up; you shall put away injustice far from your tents. ²⁴ Then you shall lay up gold like dust, and among the rock of the torrents of Ophir. ²⁵ Yea, the Almighty shall be your gold and silver, and strength to you. ²⁶ For then you shall have your delight in the Almighty, and shall lift up your face to God. ²⁷ You shall make your prayer to Him, and He shall hear you, and you shall pay your vows. ²⁸ You shall also order a thing, and it shall be fulfilled to you; and the light shall shine on your ways. ²⁹ For they have humiliated you, and you shall say, Pride! And He shall save the lowly of eyes. ³⁰ He shall deliver one not innocent, and will deliver by the pureness of your hands.

⁶⁹ The proud have forged a lie against me; I will keep Your Commandments with all my heart.

¹⁴ They have also healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

²² Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the healing of the daughter of My people not come?

³² Jehovah says, Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams and tell them, and cause My people to go astray by their lies and by their lightness. Yet I did not send them nor command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all, says Jehovah.

¹³ There is none to plead your cause; for your ulcer there are no healing medicines for you.

¹¹ Go up into Gilead and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt. In vain shall you use many medicines, for you shall not be cured.

⁴ You have not made the weak strong, nor have you healed the sick, nor have you bound up the broken. You have not brought again those driven away, nor have you sought that which was lost; but you have ruled them with force and with cruelty.

¹³ When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim went to the Assyrian and sent to King Jareb. Yet he could not heal you nor cure you of your wound.

¹⁷ When Jesus heard, He said to them, They who are strong have no need of a physician, but the ones who have illness. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

²⁶ and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and had not been bettered any, but rather came to worse,

³ Should your lies make men silent? And will you mock and no one make you ashamed?

¹³ Be quiet. Let me alone so that I may speak, and let come on me what may.

³ Shall words of wind have an end? Or what provokes you that you should answer?

² Until when will you set a snare for words? Understand, and afterwards we will speak.

² How long will you torment my soul and break me in pieces with words?

² Listen carefully to my speech, and let this be your comfort. ³ Rise with me and I shall speak; and after I have spoken, mock on.

¹ And these three men ceased from answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

²⁸ Even a fool, when he is silent, is counted wise, and he who shuts his lips is counted as a man of understanding.

³ For a dream comes through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice by the multitude of words.

¹³ So the understanding ones shall keep silent in that time; for it is an evil time.

¹⁹ Therefore, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

⁷ And when they told Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim. And he lifted up his voice and cried, and said to them, Listen to me, leaders of Shechem, so that God may listen to you.

¹ However, Job, please hear my speeches, and listen to all my words. ² Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue has spoken in my mouth, ³ my words shall be from my upright heart, and my lips will clearly speak knowledge.

² Hear my words, wise men; and give ear to me, you who have knowledge;

⁶ Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. ⁷ For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is hateful to my lips.

⁷ Remember, please, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous cut off?

² Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be justified? ³ Should your lies make men silent? And will you mock and no one make you ashamed? ⁴ For you have said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in Your eyes.

⁵ He who for a share informs against friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.

⁴ my lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.

²¹ I will not now lift up the face of a man, nor eulogize any man, ²² For I do not know how to eulogize; else after a little my Maker would take me away.

⁴ For truly my words are not false; He who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

² They shall put you out of the synagogue. But an hour is coming that everyone who kills you will think that he bears God service.

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who lays on wrath? (I speak as a man.) ⁶ Let it not be! For then how shall God judge the world? ⁷ For if in my lie the truth has more abounded to His glory why am I still judged as a sinner? ⁸ And not rather, (as we are wrongly accused, and as some affirm that we say), Let us do bad things that good may come? Their condemnation is just.

² But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating the Word of God, but by the revelation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

² You shall not follow a multitude to do evil. Neither shall you speak in a cause in order to follow many in order to wrest judgment. ³ And you should not favor a poor man in his cause.

¹⁵ You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment. You shall not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.

²¹ I will not now lift up the face of a man, nor eulogize any man,

¹⁹ How much less to Him who does not lift up the face of rulers, nor regard the rich before the poor? For all of them are the work of His hands.

²³ These also are for the wise: To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.

⁹ Therefore I have also made you despised and low before all the people, just as you have not kept My ways but are lifting up faces in the law.

¹⁶ With Him is strength and sound wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are His.

² Are not mockeries with me? Yea, my eye rests on their insults.

³⁶ Would that Job may be tried to the end because his answers are like men of iniquity.

²¹ shall not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

²³ Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts,

²² So then do not be mockers, lest your bands be made strong; for I have heard from the Lord Jehovah of Hosts that a full end is decreed on all the earth.

¹⁰ I Jehovah search the heart, I try the reins, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

⁷ Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap. ⁸ For he sowing to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But he sowing to the Spirit will reap life everlasting from the Spirit.

⁷ And it happened after Jehovah had spoken these words to Job, Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you and your two friends. For you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. ⁸ And now take to yourselves seven young bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering. And My servant Job will pray for you. Surely I will lift up his face so as not to do with you according to your foolishness, in that you have not spoken of Me what is right, like My servant Job.

²¹ These things you have done, and I have kept silence; you thought that I was like yourself, but I will rebuke you, and set in order before your eyes. ²² Now think of this, you who forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.

² How long will you judge unjustly and lift up the faces of the wicked? Selah.

⁹ But if you have respect to persons, you commit sin and are convicted by the Law as transgressors.

¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them. By the greatness of Your arm they shall be still as a stone, until Your people pass over, O Jehovah; until the people whom You have purchased pass over.

²¹ Withdraw Your hand far from me, and let not Your fear make me afraid.

²³ For trouble from God is a terror to me, and I could not do anything because of His highness.

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles in fear of You; and I am afraid of Your judgments.

¹³ Sanctify Jehovah of Hosts Himself, and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.

²² Do you not fear Me? says Jehovah. Will you not tremble at My presence, I who have placed the sand for the boundary of the sea by a never-ending decree, so that it cannot pass it? And though they toss themselves, yet they cannot prevail; though its waves roar, yet they cannot pass over it?

¹⁰ But Jehovah is the true God, He is the living God, and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to stand His fury.

²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are Your ways, O King of saints. ⁴ Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You only are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your righteousnesses were made known.

⁷ And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak to Jehovah, who am but dust and ashes.

¹⁴ And Jehovah said to Moses, Write this, a memorial in a book, and set it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heavens.

¹⁹ How much less in those who live in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth?

¹⁷ His memory shall perish from the earth, and there is no name to him on the face of the street.

¹⁶ The face of Jehovah is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

¹² But You, O Jehovah, shall endure forever; and Your memory to all generations.

¹⁵ Let them be always before Jehovah, that He may cut off their memory from the earth,

⁷ The memory of the just is blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.

¹⁴ Dead ones do not live; departed spirits do not rise. Therefore You have visited and destroyed them, and made all memory of them to perish.

¹ For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁹ Even that it would please God to destroy me; that He would loose His hand and cut me off! ¹⁰ And it is yet my comfort; yea, I would rejoice in pain, though He did not spare me; for I have not hidden the words of the Holy One.

¹¹ Therefore I will not hold my mouth; I will speak in the trouble of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

¹⁵ so that my soul chooses strangling, death rather than my life. ¹⁶ I despise them; I will not live always; let me alone, for my days are vanity.

¹ My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint on my self; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

⁵ Oh that you would stop speaking entirely! And it would be your wisdom.

³ Rise with me and I shall speak; and after I have spoken, mock on.

³ When I saw that you did not deliver me, I took my life in my hand and passed over against the sons of Ammon, and Jehovah delivered them into my hand, and why have you come up against me, to fight against me today?

⁵ For he took his life in his hand and killed the Philistine, and Jehovah worked out a great salvation for all Israel. You saw and rejoiced! Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?

²¹ And the woman came to Saul and saw that he was sorely troubled, and said to him, Behold, your handmaid has obeyed your voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have listened to your words which you spoke to me.

⁴ He tears himself in his anger; shall the earth be forsaken for you? And shall the rock be moved out of its place?

¹⁰⁹ My life is in my hand daily; yet I do not forget Your Law.

⁵ The fool folds his hands together, and eats his own flesh.

²⁰ And he shall cut off on the right hand and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left, and they shall not be satisfied. Each man shall eat the flesh of his own arm;

²⁶ And I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they shall be drunk with their own blood, as with sweet wine; and all flesh shall know that I Jehovah am your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

⁶ My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are ended without hope.

⁷ You know that I am not wicked; and there is none who can deliver out of Your hand.

¹⁸ Behold now, I have set my cause in order; I know that I shall be justified.

¹⁷ though no violence is in my hand, and my prayer is pure.

²¹ Oh that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleads for his neighbor!

²⁵ For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall rise on the earth at the last; ²⁶ and even after they corrupt my skin, yet this: in my flesh I shall see God, ²⁷ whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not a stranger's; though my heart be exhausted in my bosom. ²⁸ For you ought to say, Why do we persecute him, since the root of the matter is found in me?

¹⁰ But He knows the way that I take; when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

⁵ Far be it from me that I should justify you; until I die I will not retract my integrity from me.

³¹ if the men of my camp did not say, Who can find one who has not been satisfied with his meat? ³² The stranger did not sleep in the street, for I opened my doors to the traveler. ³³ If I covered my transgressions like Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom, ³⁴ then let me tremble before a great multitude, and be terrified by the scorn of families; and I will be silent and not go out the door. ³⁵ Oh that I had one to hear me! Behold my mark. Let the Almighty answer me, and my Accuser write an indictment. ³⁶ Surely I would carry it on my shoulder, and bind it like crowns to me. ³⁷ I would declare to Him the number of my steps; like a prince I would go near Him.

² Shall a reprover contend with the Almighty? He who reproves God, let him answer it.

⁸ Will you also set aside My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?

⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

³² The wicked is driven away in his wickedness, but the righteous has hope in his death.

³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁰ that if our heart accuses us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

² Jehovah is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will glorify Him, my father's God, and I will exalt Him.

¹³ So are the paths of all who forget God; and the hope of the ungodly shall perish.

⁸ For what is the hope of the ungodly when He cuts off, when God takes away his soul? ⁹ Will God hear his cry when trouble comes on him? ¹⁰ Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call on God?

¹³ But the ungodly in heart heap up wrath; they cry not when He binds them.

¹ A Psalm of David. Jehovah is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

⁶ He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my strong tower; I shall not be shaken. ⁷ In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength; my hiding-place is in God.

¹⁴ Jehovah is my strength and song, and He is my salvation.

²¹ I will praise You; for You have heard me, and are my salvation.

¹ And in that day you shall say, O Jehovah, I will praise You; though You were angry with me, turn away Your anger, and You shall comfort me. ² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.

¹⁴ The sinners in Zion are afraid; terror has surprised profane ones. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

²³ Truly, for delusion comes from the high hills, tumult on the mountains. Truly, in Jehovah our God is the salvation of Israel.

⁴⁷ For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, "I have set You to be a light of the nations, for salvation to the end of the earth."

⁶ Hear now my reasoning, and listen to the pleadings of my lips.

² Listen carefully to my speech, and let this be your comfort.

¹ However, Job, please hear my speeches, and listen to all my words.

² Truly I know it is so, but how can man be just with God? ³ If he will argue with Him, he cannot answer Him one of a thousand.

²⁰ If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me; though I am perfect, He shall declare me perverse.

⁴ I would order my cause before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

⁷ Now gird up your loins like a man. I will question you, and you teach Me. ⁸ Will you also set aside My judgment? Will you condemn Me so that you may be justified?

²⁶ Cause Me to remember; let us enter into judgment; declare yourself, that you may be justified.

³³ Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who is he condemning? It is Christ who has died, but rather also who is raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity; not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God; we have had our conduct in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

⁸ Your hands have made me and shaped me, together all around; yet You destroy me.

⁵ If indeed you magnify yourself against me, and plead against me my misery,

⁵ If you can, answer me; set yourself in order before me, stand up. ⁶ Behold, I am toward God even as you are; I also am formed out of the clay. ⁷ Behold, my terror shall not make you afraid, and my burden shall not be heavy on you.

³² If you have anything to say, answer me; speak, for I desire to justify you.

⁷ For the Lord Jehovah will help Me; therefore I have not been ashamed. On account of this I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. ⁸ He is near who justifies Me; who will contend with Me? Let us stand together; who is master of My judgment? Let him come near Me.

⁹ Then I said, I will not mention Him, nor speak in His name any more. But His Word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with holding in, and I could not stop.

³³ Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God who justifies.

⁸ And they heard the voice of Jehovah God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Jehovah God in the middle of the trees of the garden. ⁹ And Jehovah God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you? ¹⁰ And he said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I am naked, and I hid myself.

¹² Yea, the darkness does not hide from You; but the night shines as the day; as is the darkness, so is the light to You.

¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every freeman, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains. ¹⁶ And they said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;

³⁴ Let Him take His rod away from me, and let not His fear make me afraid;

²⁰ Are not my days few? Cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

¹¹ Shall not His highness make you afraid, and His dread fall on you?

¹⁵ Do you keep to the old way which wicked men have walked? ¹⁶ They were seized, but there was not time; their foundation was poured out by a flood; ¹⁷ who said to God, Depart from us; and, What can the Almighty do to them?

⁷ Behold, my terror shall not make you afraid, and my burden shall not be heavy on you.

¹⁰ Remove Your stroke away from me; I am destroyed by the blow of Your hand.

¹⁶ If I had called and He had answered me, yet would I not believe that He had listened to my voice;

³² For He is not a man, as I am, that I should answer Him, that we should come together in judgment;

¹⁵ You shall call, and I will answer You; You shall have a desire to the work of Your hands.

³ Now gird up your loins like a man; for I will ask of you, and you teach Me.

⁵ Is not your wickedness great, and your iniquity without measure?

⁸ And if they are bound in chains, and are held in cords of affliction, ⁹ then He shows them their work, and their sins, that they have behaved themselves proudly.

²⁰ If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god, ²¹ shall not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

²⁰ And He said, I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end shall be. For they are a very perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness.

¹⁶ And Samuel said, Why then do you ask me, since Jehovah has left you and has become your enemy?

² I will say to God, Do not condemn me; make me know why You contend with me.

⁹ His anger has torn and hated me; He gnashes on me with His teeth; my enemy sharpens his eyes at me;

¹¹ He has also kindled His wrath against me, and to Himself He counts me as His enemy.

² Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God watched over me; ³ when His lamp shone on my head; I walked through darkness by His light;

²¹ You changed to be cruel to me; with Your mighty hand You assault me.

¹⁰ behold, He finds reasons to be against me, He counts me for His enemy;

¹ Why do You stand afar off, O Jehovah? Will You hide in times of trouble?

¹ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. How long will You forget me, O Jehovah? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

²⁴ Why do You hide Your face, and forget our affliction and distress?

⁶ I remember my song in the night; I speak with my own heart, and my spirit carefully searches. ⁷ Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more? ⁸ Is His mercy gone forever? Has His Word failed for all generations? ⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah.

¹⁴ O Jehovah, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?

¹⁷ And I will wait on Jehovah, who hides His face from the house of Jacob; and I will look for Him.

⁵ Jehovah was like an enemy; He swallowed up Israel; He has swallowed up all her palaces, and destroyed His strongholds. And He has increased mourning and weeping in the daughter of Judah.

¹⁵ Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

³⁶ And on those of you that are left I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf shall chase them, and they shall flee as if fleeing from a sword. And they shall fall when none pursues.

¹⁴ After whom has the king of Israel come out? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog? After a flea?

³ And You open Your eyes on such a one, and bring me into judgment with You.

¹⁸ they are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm steals away.

¹³ The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters; but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

²⁰ He will not break a bruised reed, and He will not quench a smoking wick, until He sends out judgment to victory.

²⁰ And she said to them, Do not call me Naomi, call me Mara. For the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.

²⁰ Why is light given to one who is in misery, and life to the bitter in soul,

¹¹ His bones are full of his youthful vigor, but it lies down with him in the dust.

⁷ Do not remember the sins of my youth, or my rebellings; according to Your mercy remember me for Your goodness' sake, O Jehovah.

³ For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near the grave. ⁴ I am counted with those who go down to the Pit; I am like a feeble man; ⁵ free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom You remember no more; and by Your hand they are cut off. ⁶ You have laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps. ⁷ Your wrath lies hard on me, and You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah. ⁸ You have taken my friends away from me; You have made me a hateful thing to them. I am shut up, and I cannot go out. ⁹ My eye mourns because of affliction; O Jehovah, I have called daily on You; I have stretched out my hands to You. ¹⁰ For will You do wonders to the dead? Shall the dead rise and praise You? Selah. ¹¹ Shall Your loving-kindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in ruin? ¹² Shall Your wonders be known in the dark, and Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? ¹³ But to You I have cried, O Jehovah; and in the morning my prayer shall go before You. ¹⁴ O Jehovah, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me? ¹⁵ I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up; while I suffer Your terrors, I pine away. ¹⁶ Your fierce wrath goes over me; Your terrors have cut me off. ¹⁷ They surrounded me like waters all the day long; they have come together around me. ¹⁸ You have taken lover and friend far from me, and those who know me into darkness.

¹¹ and you moan when your end comes, when your flesh and muscle are eaten away, ¹² and say, How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised correction; ¹³ and I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor bowed down my ears to those who taught me!

¹⁹ Surely after I was turned, I repented; and after I was taught, I struck on my thigh. I was ashamed, yea, I even blushed, because I bore the disgrace of my youth.

⁵ And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity thirty-eight years.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, Behold, you are made whole. Sin no more lest a worse thing come to you.

¹⁰ And Asa was angry with the seer and put him in a prison-house. For he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time. ¹¹ And behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel. ¹² And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa was diseased in his feet, until his disease was very grievous. Yet in his disease he did not seek to Jehovah, but to the physicians.

⁷ And Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah and struck Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.

⁶ that You seek out my iniquity, and search for my sin?

¹⁶ For now You number my steps; do You not watch over my sin?

¹¹ He puts my feet in the stocks; He marks all my paths.

²² He goes after her immediately, like an ox goes to the slaughter, or like a fool to the correction of the stocks;

²⁴ who, having received such a command, thrust them into the inner prison and made their feet fast in the stocks.

¹² Let her not be like one dead, of whom the flesh is half gone when he comes out of his mother's womb.

¹⁷ My bones are pierced in me in the night; and my gnawings never lie down. ¹⁸ By the great force of my disease my clothing is exposed; it binds me about like the mouth of my coat. ¹⁹ He has cast me into the mire, and I have become like dust and ashes.

²⁹ I am a brother to jackals, and a companion to daughters of the ostrich. ³⁰ My skin is black on me, and my bones are burned with heat.

¹¹ You correct a man for iniquity with rebukes, and you make his desires vanish away like a moth. Surely every man is vanity. Selah.

¹² Therefore I am as a moth to Ephraim, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.
