3 Prepare you* the buckler and shield and draw near to battle. 4 Harness the horses and get up, you* horsemen and stand forth with your* helmets. Furbish the spears. Put on the coats of mail. 5 Why have I seen it?
They are dismayed and have turned backward. And their mighty ones are beaten down and have fled in flight and do not look back. Terror is on every side, says Jehovah. 6 Do not let the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape. In the north by the river Euphrates they have stumbled and fallen.
7 Who is this that rises up like the Nile, whose waters toss themselves like the rivers? 8 Egypt rises up like the Nile and his waters toss themselves like the rivers. And he says, I will rise up. I will cover the earth. I will destroy cities and the inhabitants of it.
9 Go up, you* horses and rage, you* chariots. And let the mighty men go forth: Cush and Put, who handle the shield and the Ludim, who handle and bend the bow. 10 For that day is a day of the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries. And the sword will devour and be satiate and will drink its fill of their blood, for the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
11 Go up into Gilead and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt. In vain do you use many medicines; there is no healing for you. 12 The nations have heard of your shame and the earth is full of your cry. For the mighty man has stumbled against the mighty; they are fallen, both of them together.

They have fled away together. They did not stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their visitation. 22 Its sound will go like the serpent, for they will march with an army and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.

And afterwards it will be inhabited, as in the days of long-ago, says Jehovah.
27 But do not fear, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel. For behold, I will save you from afar and your seed from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return and will be quiet and at ease and none will make him afraid.
28 Do not fear, O Jacob my servant, says Jehovah, for I am with you. For I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you, but I will not make a full end of you. But I will discipline you in measure and will in no way leave you unpunished.

Ezekiel 29:1-21
1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, in the twelfth day of the month, the word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh King of Egypt and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.
3 Speak and say, The lord Jehovah says thus: Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh King of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the midst of his rivers, that has said, My river is my own and I have made it for myself.
4 And I will put hooks in your jaws and I will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales and I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers, with all the fish of your rivers which stick to your scales. 5 And I will cast you forth into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers. You will fall upon the open field. You will not be brought together, nor gathered. I have given you for food to the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the heavens.
6 And all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am Jehovah, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. 7 When they took hold of you by your hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders. And when they leaned upon you, you broke and made all their loins to be at a stand still.
8 Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, I will bring a sword upon you and will cut off from you man and beast. 9 And the land of Egypt will be a desolation and a waste.
And they will know that I am Jehovah.
Because he has said, The river is mine and I have made it, 10 therefore, behold, I am against you and against your rivers. And I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from the Migdol to Syene, even to the border of Ethiopia. 11 No foot of man will pass through it, nor foot of beast will pass through it. Neither will it be inhabited forty years.
12 And I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of the countries that are desolate. And her cities among the cities that are laid waste will be a desolation forty years. And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and will disperse them through the countries.
13 For thus says the lord Jehovah: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples where they were scattered, 14 and I will bring back the captivity of Egypt and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their birth.
And they will be a base kingdom there. 15 It will be the lowest of the kingdoms, nor will it lift itself up any more above the nations. And I will diminish them, that they will no more rule over the nations. 16 And it will be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing iniquity to remembrance, when they turn to look after them.
And they will know that I am the lord Jehovah.
17 And it happened in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, 18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyre. Every head was made bald and every shoulder was worn, yet he had no wages, nor his army, from Tyre, for the service that he had served against it.
19 Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and he will carry off her multitude and take her spoil and take her prey. And it will be the wages for his army. 20 I have given him the land of Egypt as his recompense for which he served, because they worked for me, says the lord Jehovah
21 In that day I will cause a horn to bud forth to the house of Israel and I will give you the opening of the mouth in the midst of them. And they will know that I am Jehovah.
