³⁸ Pilate says to him, What is truth? And having said this, he went out again to the Jews and says to them, I am finding no crime in him.

¹⁸ For he knew that they had given him up because of envy.
¹⁹ Now while sitting upon the judicial-seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing between you and that righteous man; for I have suffered many things today in a dream because of him.

²⁴ Pilate seeing he profited nothing, but rather that an uproar is happening, took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man; you will see to it.

¹⁴ But Pilate said to them, For what evil has he done?
But they cried out even-more, Crucify him.

⁴ Now Pilate said to the high-priests and the crowds, I am finding no crime in this man.

¹⁴ and said to them, You brought this man to me, as one turning away the people to riot, and behold, I have examined him in your sight, and found no crime in this man of which you accuse against him. ¹⁵ But even Herod found nothing. For he sent him back to you, and behold, nothing worthy of death has been done by him. ¹⁶ Therefore, after having disciplined him, I will be releasing him.

⁴ Therefore Pilate went outside again and says to them, Behold, I lead him outside to you, in order that you may know that I am finding no crime in him.

⁶ Therefore when the high-priests and the attendants saw him, they cried-out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him!
Pilate says to them, You, take him and crucify him; for I am finding no crime in him.

²¹ Therefore, the high-priests of the Jews were saying to Pilate, Do not write, The King of the Jews, but, That man said, I am King of the Jews.
²² Pilate answered, I have written what I have written.

¹⁹ And they grabbed him and led him to the Areopagus, saying, Are we able to know what this new teaching is, which is spoken by you? ²⁰ For you are bringing some surprising things to our ears. Therefore, we plan to know what these things might wish to be.
