¹ Saul had pleasure in his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the congregation which was at Jerusalem, and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Jewry and Samaria, except the apostles.

²⁸ And Pharaoh said unto him, "Get thee from me and take heed to thyself that thou see my face no more. For whensoever thou comest in my sight, thou shalt die." ²⁹ And Moses said, "Let it be as thou hast said: I will see thy face no more."

³ Notwithstanding, I sent messengers unto them, saying, "I have a great business to do, I cannot come down. The work should stand still, if I were negligent, and came down to you."

¹⁶ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, an said, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we ought not to consent unto thee in this matter. For why? ¹⁷ Our God whom we serve, is able to keep us from the hot burning oven, O king, and can right well deliver us out of thy hands: ¹⁸ And if he will not, yet shalt thou know, O king, that we will not serve thy Gods, nor do reverence to the Image which thou hast set up."

¹⁰ Now when Daniel understood that the writing was made, he went into his house: and the windows of his hall toward Jerusalem stood open. There kneeled he down upon his knees, three times a day: there he made his petition, and praised his God, like as his manner was to do afore time.

²³ Then was the king exceeding glad, and commanded to take Daniel out of the den. So Daniel was brought out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him; For he put his trust in his God.

¹³ "Ye are the salt of the earth: but and if the salt have lost her saltiness, what can be salted therewith? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden underfoot of men.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple to be as his Master is, and that the servant be as his Lord is. If they have called the Lord of the house Beelzebub: how much more shall they call them of his household so? ²⁶ Fear them not therefore: there is nothing so close, that shall not be opened; and nothing so secret, that shall not be known. ²⁷ What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye on the housetops. ²⁸ And fear ye not them which kill the body, and be not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body into hell.

⁶ the remnant took his servants, and intreated them ungoodly, and slew them.

³⁴ "Wherefore, Behold, I send unto you prophets, wise men, and scribes. And of them: some shall ye kill and crucify, and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;

⁴⁹ "Therefore said the wisdom of God: I will send them prophets and apostles, and of them they shall slay and persecute: ⁵⁰ That the blood of all prophets, which was shed from the beginning of the world, may be required of this generation,

³⁹ Many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him, for the woman's saying: which testified, "He told me all things that ever I did." ⁴⁰ Then, when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them. And he abode there two days. ⁴¹ And many more believed because of his own words, ⁴² and said unto the woman, "Now we believe not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is even indeed Christ, the saviour of the world."

²⁰ Remember the saying, that I said unto you, 'The servant is not greater than the Lord.' If they have persecuted me, so will they persecute you. If they have kept my saying, so will they keep yours.

² They shall excommunicate you: yea the time shall come, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth God true service.

⁸ but ye shall receive power of the holy ghost which shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Jewry, and in Samaria, and even unto the world's end."

⁴⁷ and had favour with all the people, and the Lord added to the congregation daily such as should be saved.

¹⁸ and laid hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

²⁰ "Go step forth, and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life."

³³ When they heard that, they clave asunder, and sought means to slay them.

⁴⁰ And to him they agreed, and called the apostles, and beat them, and commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

³⁸ This is he that was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the Mount Sinai, and with our fathers. This man received the word of life to give unto us,

⁵⁴ When they heard these things, their hearts clave asunder, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

⁵⁸ and cast him out of the city, and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, named Saul.

⁴ Howbeit, they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word.

¹⁴ When the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard say that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

³¹ Then had the congregations rest, throughout all Jewry and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified, and walked in the fear of the Lord; And multiplied by the comfort of the holy ghost.

¹⁹ They which were scattered abroad through the affliction that arose about Stephen, walked throughout till they came unto Phoenicia, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no man, but unto the Jews only. ²⁰ Some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which when they were come into Antioch, spake unto the Greeks, and preached the Lord Jesus. ²¹ And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned unto the Lord. ²² Tidings of these things came unto the ears of the congregation, which was in Jerusalem; And they sent forth Barnabas that he should go unto Antioch.

¹ There were at Antioch, in the congregation, certain prophets and teachers: as Barnabas and Symeon called Niger; And Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, Herod the tetrarch's nurse-fellow, and Saul.

²⁰ And when the blood of thy witness Stephen was shed, I also stood by, and consented unto his death and kept the raiment of them that slew him.'

¹² I would ye understood, brethren, that my business is happened unto the greater furthering of the gospel.

²⁷ By faith he forsook Egypt, and feared not the fierceness of the king. For he endured, even as he had seen him which is invisible.
