¹⁹ so that al people, kynredes and tunge stode in awe & feare of him, by reason of the hye estate, that he had lente him. For why, he slewe whom he wold: he smote, whom it pleased hym. Agayne, whom he wolde, he set vp: and whome he lyst, he put doune.

¹⁴ The kynges dyspleasure is a messaunger of deathe, but a wyse man wyll pacyfye hym.

⁹ lo, I wyll sende out, call for all the people, that dwell in the North, sayeth the Lorde, and will prepayre Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babylon my seruaunt, and will bringe them vpon this lande, & vpon all that dwell therin, and vpon all the people that are aboute them, & will vtterly rote them oute. I wyll make of them a wyldernesse, a mockage and a continuall deserte. ¹⁰ Moreouer, I will take from them the voyce of gladnesse and solace, the voyce of the brydegrom & the bryde, the voyce of the anoynted, wyth the cresshettes: ¹¹ and this whole lande shall become a wyldernes, & they shall serue the sayde people & the kynge of Babylon, thre score yeares and ten. ¹² When the .lxx. yeares eare expyred, I wyll vyset also the wickednesse of the kynge of Babylon & hys people sayeth the Lorde: ye and the land of the Caldees, and wyll make it a perpetuall wyldernes, ¹³ and will fulfyl al my wordes vpon that land, which I haue deuysed agaynst it: ye all that is wrytten in this boke, whyche Ieremy hath prophecyed of al people: ¹⁴ so that they also shal be subdued vnto diuerse nacyons and greate kinges, for I wil recompense them, accordyng to theyr dedes and worckes of their owne handes.

⁵ I am he that made the earthe, the men, & the catell that are vpon the grounde, with my great power and outstretched arme, & haue geuen it vnto whome it pleased me. ⁶ And nowe wyl I delyuer all these landes into the power of Nabuchodonosor the Kynge of Babylon, my seruaunt. The beastes also of the felde shall I geue hym to do hym seruyce. ⁷ And all people shall serue hym, and hys sonne, and hys chyldes chyldren, vntyll the tyme of the same lande become also: yea many people & greate Kynges shall serue hym.

¹² For the whiche cause the kyng was wroth with greate indignacyon, and commaunded to destroye all the wyse men at Babylon: ¹³ and the proclamacyon wente forthe, that the wyse men shuld be slayne, They sought also to slay Daniel with hys companions.

⁴ the bedel cryed out with al his might: O ye people, kynredes and tunges, to you be it sayde:

⁶ Who so then falleth not downe & boweth hym selfe, shall euen the same houre be caste into an hote burnynge ouen.

²⁰ and spake vnto the strongeste worthyes that were in hys hoste, for to bynde Sidrach, Misach and Abednago, & to cast them into the hote burnynge ouen. ²¹ So these men were bounde in theyr cotes hosen, shues with theyr other garmentes, and caste into the hote burnynge ouen:

²⁹ Therfore I wyll, and commaund, that al people, kynredes and tunges, whiche speake any blasphemye agaynst the God of Sidrach, Misach and Abednago, shall dye, and theyr houses shalbe prysed: Because there is no God that maye saue, as thys.

²² Euen thou (O kynge) arte the tre, great & stronge. Thy greatnesse increaseth, and reacheth vnto the heauen, so doth thy power to the endes of the earthe.

⁵ Lyke as the wyne disceyueth the dronkarde, euen so the proud shall fayle and not endure. He openeth hys desyre wyde vp as the hell, & is as vnsacyale as death. All Heathen gathered he to hym, and heapeth vnto hym all people.

¹¹ Iesus aunswered: Than couldest haue no power at all agaynst me, except it were geuen the from aboue. Therfore he that delyuered me vnto the, is more in synne.

¹ Let euery soule submit him selfe vnto the authoritie of the hygher powers. For there is no power but of God.
