But the foules deuided he not. ¹¹ And the birdes fell one the carcases, but Abram droue them away. ¹² And when the sunne was downe, ther fell a slumbre vpon Abram. And loo, feare and greate darckenes came vpon him. ¹³ And he sayd vnto Abram: know this of a surety that thy sede shall be a stranger in a lande that perteyneth not vnto them. And they shall make bondmen of them & entreate them euell .iiij. hundred yeares. ¹⁴ But the nacion whom they shal serue, wyll I iudge. And after warde shall they come out wyth great substance. ¹⁵ Neuerthelesse, thou shalt go vnto thy fathers in peace, & shalt be buryed when thou arte of a good age: ¹⁶ and in the fourth generation they shall come hyther agayne, for the wickednesse of the Amorites is not yet full. ¹⁷ When the sonne was downe and it was waxed darcke: beholde, ther was a smokyng furnesse, and a fyrebrand that went betwene the sayde peces. ¹⁸ And that same daye the Lorde made a couenaunte with Abram sayinge: vnto thy seed wyl I geue this land, from the riuer of Egypt, euen vnto the greate ryuer Euphrates, ¹⁹ the Kenytes, the Kenizites, the Cadmonites, ²⁰ the Hethites, the Pherezites, the Raphayms, ²¹ the Amorytes, the Canaanites, the Gergesytes and the Iebusytes.

So that henceforth there shall be no more waters to make a floude to destroy all fleshe. ¹⁶ The bowe shal be in the cloudes, & I wil loke vpon it, to remembre the euerlastynge testament betwene God & all that lyueth vpon the earth, whatsoeuer fleshe it be. ¹⁷ And God sayed vnto Noe: Thys is the sygne of the testament which I haue made betwene me and all fleshe that is on the earth.

Twelue princes shall he begette and I wyl make a greate nacion of hym. ²¹ But my bond wyl I make with Isaac, whych Sara shal bere vnto the: euen this tyme twelue moneth. ²² And God left of talkynge with him, & departed vp from Abraham. ²³ And Abraham toke Ismael his sonne and al the seruauntes borne in hys house and all that was bought wt money as many as were men children among the men of Abrahams house, and circumcysed the foreskynne of their fleshe, euen the selfe same daye, as God had sayde vnto hym. ²⁴ Abraham was nynetie yere old and nyne, when he cut of the foreskynne of hys flesh. ²⁵ And Ismaell hys sonne was .xiij. yere olde, when the foreskinne of hys flesh was circumcised. ²⁶ The selfe same daye was Abraham cyrcumcysed and Ismael hys soune. ²⁷ And all the men in hys house, whether they were borne in hys house or bought wyth money (though they were straungers) were circumcysed wyth hym.

For the Egyptyans abhore all shepardes.

And they sayed: the God of the Hebrues hath mett wyth vs: lett vs go (we praye the) thre dayes iourney into the deserte, that we may sacrifice vnto the Lord our God: lest he smyte vs eyther with pestilence, or wyth sworde. ⁴ Then sayed the kynge of Egypte vnto them: wherefor do ye Moses and Aaron let the people from their worke, get you vnto your labour. ⁵ And Pharao sayd furthermore: behold, there is much peaple in the lande, and ye make them playe and let theyr worcke stand. ⁶ And Pharao commaunded the same day vnto the taskemasters ouer the people, & vnto the officers saying: ⁷ se that ye giue the people no more strawe to make brycke withall, as ye dyd in time passed: let them go and gather them strawe them selues, ⁸ and the numbre of brycke whyche they were wonte to make in tymes passed, laye vnto their charges also, & minish nothing therof. For they be idle and therfore cry saying: let vs goo and do sacrifyce vnto our God. ⁹ They muste haue more worcke layed vpon them, that they maye laboure therein, and then wyll they not turne them selues to false wordes. ¹⁰ Then wente the taskemasters of the people and the officers oute and told the people sayinge: Thus sayth Pharao: ¹¹ I wyll gyue you no more strawe, but go your selues and gather you strawe wher you can fynd it, yet shall none of your labour be minished. ¹² Then the people scatered abrode thoroweout all the land of Egypt for ta gather them stubble to be in stede of strawe. ¹³ And the taskemasters hasted them forwarde saying: fulfyl your worcke day by day, euen as when strawe was geuen you. ¹⁴ And the officers of the children of Israel whych Pharaos taskemasters had set ouer theym, were beaten. And it was sayd vnto them: wherfore haue you not fulfilled your taske in making brycke both yesterdaye and to daye, as well as in tymes past. ¹⁵ Then went the offycers of the chyldren of Israel & complayned vnto Pharao saynge: wherfore dealest thou thus with thy seruantes? ¹⁶ there is no strawe geuen vnto thy seruauntes, and yet they say vnto vs make bryke. And loo, thy seruauntes are beaten, and thy people is fowle intreated. ¹⁷ And he aunswered: idle are ye idle, and therefore ye say: let vs goo and do Sacrifice vnto the Lorde. ¹⁸ Go therefore and worcke, for there shall no strawe be geuen you, & yet se that ye delyuer the whole tale of brycke. ¹⁹ When the officers of the children of Israel sawe them selues in shrode case (in that he said ye shall minysh nothyng of your dayly makyng of brycke) ²⁰ then they mette Moses and Aaron standinge in theyr way as they came out from Pharao, ²¹ and sayd vnto them. The Lorde loke vnto you and iudge, for ye haue made the fauour of vs stynke in the syght of Pharao, and of his seruauntes, and haue put a swerd into their handes to slea vs. ²² Moyses returned vnto the Lord & sayed: Lorde wherefore dealest thou cruellye wyth this people: and wherfore hast thou sent me? ²³ For sence I came to Pharao to speke in thy name, he hath fared foule with thys folke, & yet thou hast not deliuered thy people at al.

⁴ Moreouer I made an appoyntmente wyth them to gyue them the Land of Canaan: the land of theyr pilgrimage wherin thei wer straungers ⁵ And I haue also hearde the gronynge of the chyldren of Israell, bycause the Egyptians kepe them in bondage, and haue remembred my promise. ⁶ Wherfore say vnto the chyldren of Israel I am the Lord, & wyll bryng you out frome vnder the burdens of the Egyptians, & wyl ryd you out of theyr bondage, and wil delyuer you with a stretched out arme and with great iudgements.

¹ And the lord said vnto Moses: behold I haue made the Pharaos God, & Aaron thy brother shalbe thy prophete. ² Thou shalt speake all that I commaunde the & Aaron thy brother shall speake vnto Pharao: that he sende the children of Israel out of his land. ³ But I wyl harden Pharaos hert, that I may multiply my miracles & my wunders in the land of Egypt. ⁴ And yet Pharao shall not herken vnto you, that I may sette myne hand vpon Egypte and brynge out myne armies, euen my people the chyldred of Israell out of the land of Egypte, with greate Iudgementes. ⁵ And the Egyptyans shall knowe that I am the Lorde when I haue stretched forthe my hande vpon Egypte, and haue brought out the children of Israel from among them. ⁶ Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commaunded them. ⁷ And Moses was .lxxx. yere olde, and Aaron .lxxxiij. when they spake vnto Pharao. ⁸ And the Lorde spake vnto Moyses and Aaron sayinge: ⁹ when Pharao speaketh vnto you & sayeth: shewe a wonder, then shalt thou saye vnto Aaron, take the rod & cast it before Pharao, and it shall turne to a serpent. ¹⁰ Then went Moses & Aaron in vnto Pharao, and dyd euen as the Lorde had commaunded. And Aaron cast forth his rodd before Pharao, and before hys seruauntes, & it turned to a serpent. ¹¹ Then Pharao called for the wyse men and enchaunters of Egypte: & they dyd in lyke maner with their sorcery. ¹² And they cast down euery man hys rodde, & they turned to serpentes: but Aarons rod ate vp theyr roddes: ¹³ & yet for all that Pharaos hert was hardened, so that he herkened not vnto them, euen as the Lord had sayd. ¹⁴ Then sayd the Lord vnto Moyses, Pharaos herte is hardened, and he refuseth to let the people go.

³² And take youre shepe and your oxen wt you as ye haue sayd, & departe & blesse me also. ³³ And the Egipcians were ferce vpon the people, & made haste to send them oute of the land: for they sayd: we be al deed men. ³⁴ And the people toke the dough before it was sowered whych they had in stoare, and bounde it in clothes, & put it vpon their shoulders. ³⁵ And the chyldren of Israel dyd accordyng to the saying of Moses: and they borowed of the Egypcyans yewels of siluer, and yewels of gold, and rayment. ³⁶ And the Lorde gat the people fauour in the syghte of the Egypcians: and so they borowed & robbed the Egypcyans. ³⁷ Thus toke the children of Israel their yourneye from Rameses to Suchoth .vi. hundred thousand men of foote, besyde chyldren. ³⁸ And moch comon people went also with them, and shepe, & oxen, & catell exceadyng moch.

⁴⁰ And the tyme of the dwellynge of the chyldren of Israel which they dwelled in Egyte, was .iiij. hundred & .xxx. yere.

¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac and Israel thy seruauntes, to whom thou sworest by thyne owne selfe & saidest vnto them. I wyll multiplye youre seed as the starres of heauen, and all thys lande which I haue sayd, I wyll geue vnto youre seede: and they shal enheret it for euer

² And I wyll sende an angell before the, & wyll cast out the Cananytes, the Amorytes, the Hethites, the Pherezites, the Heuites, & the Iebusytes:

¹¹ kepe al that I commaund the thys daye, and beholde: I wyll caste out before the the Amorytes, Canaanites, Hethytes, Pherezites, Heuites, and Iebusites.

³ If he brynge a burntoffrynge of the oxen he shall brynge a male wythout blemysh, & shal brynge hym to the dore of the tabernacle of wytnesse, that he maye be accepted before the Lorde.

¹⁰ Yf he wyl offer a burnt sacrifice of the shepe whether it be of the lambes or of the gootes he shal offer a male wythout blemysh.

¹⁴ If he wyl offer a burntoffrynge of the foules he shall offer eyther of the turtyll doues or of the yong pigeons.

¹⁷ and breke hys wynges, but plucke them not asundre. And then let the Preast burne it vpon the alter, euen vpon the wood that lyeth vpon the fyre, a burntsacryfyce and an offrynge of a swete sauoure vnto the Lorde.

¹ If a man brynge a peace offerynge of the oxen: whether it be male or female, he shal bringe such as is without blemish, before the Lorde:

⁶ If a man brynge a peace offeryng vnto the Lord from of the flocke, whether it be male or female, it shall be without blemysh.

² and said vnto Aaron, take a calfe for a synne offeryng, and a Ramme for a burntoffering: both without blemish, & bring them before the Lord.

⁴ & an oxe & a ram for a peaceofferinges to offer before the lord, & a meatoffering mingled with oile, for to day the Lord wyll appeare vnto you.

⁸ But & yf she be not able to brynge a shepe, then let her brynge two turtyls or two younge pygeons: the one for the burntoffrynge, and the other for the sinneoffryng. And the Preast shall make an attonement for her, & she shalbe cleane.

²² & two turtyl doues or two yonge pygeons which he is able to get, & let the one be a synneoffrynge and the other a burntoffryng.

³⁰ And he shall offer one of the turtyl doues or of the young pigeons, soche as he can gett:

³⁴ But let the straunger that dwelleth wyth you, be as one of youre selues, & loue hym as thy selfe, for ye were straungers in the lande of Egypt. I am the Lorde your God.

⁶ And he sayed heare my wordes If there be a prophet of the Lordes among you, I wyl shewe my selfe vnto him in a visyon & wyll speake vnto hym in a dreame.

²⁴ lett Aaron be putt vnto hys people, for he shall not come into the lande whiche I haue geuen vnto the chyldren of Israel: bicause ye disobeied my mouth at the water of strife.

²¹ And he loked on the Kenites, & toke his parable and sayd: stronge is thy dwellynge place & put thy neste vpon a rocke. ²² Neuerthelater thou shalt be a burnyng to Kain, vntyl Assar take the prisoner.

⁵ And shal fet a compasse from Azmon vnto the ryuer of Egypt, and shall go out at the sea.

⁷ departe therfore & take youre iourney and go vnto the hilles of the Amorites and vnto all places nye there vnto: both feldes, hylles and dales: and vnto the south & vnto the sea syde in the lande of Canaan, and vnto Libanon: euen vnto the greate ryuer Euphrates. ⁸ Beholde, I haue sett the land before you: goo in therfore & possess the land whiche the Lorde sware vnto youre fathers Abraham, Isaac and Iacob, to geue vnto them and their seade after them.

¹ When the Lorde thy God hathe brought the into the land whither thou goest to possesse it, & hast coste out manye nations before the: the Hethytes, the Gergesites, the Amorites, the Cananites, the Pheresites, the Heuites, and the Iebusites .vij. nacions moo in numbre & mightier then thou:

¹⁸ Fear them not, but remembre what the Lorde thy God dyd vnto Pharao & vnto all Egypte, ¹⁹ and the greate temptations whiche thyne eyes sawe, & the sygnes and wondres & myghty hand and stretched out arme wherewith the Lord thy God brought the out: euen so shal the Lord thi God do vnto al the nations of which thou art afrayed.

² And call to mynde thys daye that whyche your children haue neither knowne nor sene: euen the nurtoure of the Lord your God, hys greatnes, hys myghty hande, and hys streatched oute arme: ³ hys myracles and hys actes whyche he dyd amonge the Egyptians, euen vnto Pharao kynge of Egypte, and vnto all hys lande: ⁴ and what he dyd vnto the hoste of the Egyptians, vnto theyr horses and charettes howe he broughte the water of the redde see vpon them as they chased you, and how the Lorde hath brought theym to noughte vnto thys daye:

²⁴ Al the places whereon the solles of your fete shall treade, shall be youres euen from the wildernes and from Libanon, and from the riuer Euphrates, euen vnto the vtmost sea, shall youre coastes be.

⁶ Plucke vp your hertes and be stronge, dread not, nor be afrayed of them: for the Lord thy God him selfe will go with the, & wil neither let the go nor forsake the.

²⁶ There is none lyke vnto the God of Israell: he that sytteth vpon heauen shall be thyne helpe, whose glorye is in the cloudes, ²⁷ that is the dwellyng place of God from the begynnynge, and from vnder the armes of the worlde: he hath caste out thyne enemyes before the and sayed destroy. ²⁸ And Israell shal dwel in safety alone. And the eyes of Iacob shall loke vpon a lande of corne & wyne moreouer his heauen shal droppe with dewe. ²⁹ Happye arte thou Israell, who is lyke vnto the? A people that arte saued by the Lord thy shyeld and helper & swerd of thy glory. And thyne enemyes shal hyde theym selues from the, and thou shalt walke vppon theyr hye hylles.

⁴ And the Lorde sayed vnto him. This is the laud which I sware vnto Abraham, Isaac, and Iacob sayinge: I wyll giue it to thy sede. I haue shewed it the before thyne eyes: but thou shalt not goo ouer thyther.

¹ These are the Kynges of the land whyche the chyldren of Israell smote and conquered their landes, on the other syde Iordan eastwarde, from the ryuer Arnon, vnto mounte Hermon, and all the plaine eastwarde: ² Sehon Kynge of the Amorytes, that dwelt in Hesbon, and ruled from Aroer, whyche lyeth on the brym of the ryuer of Arnon, and to the middel of the ryuer, and halfe Galaad, vnto the riuer Iabock, the border of the chyldren of Ammon: ³ And in the playne vnto the sea of Ceneroth eastward, and vnto the sea in the playne called the salt sea eastwarde, the waye to Beth, Iesymoth and by south vnder the sprynges of phasgah. ⁴ And the costes of Og, Kynge of Basan, whych was of the remnaunt of the Raphaytes, and dwelt at Astharoth, and Edray, ⁵ and raygned in mounte Hermon, and in Salecah, and thorow out all Basan, vnto the borders, of the Gesurites, and the Macathites, & halfe Galaad, vnto the borders of Sehon, Kynge of Hesbon. ⁶ Moses the seruaunt of the Lorde, and the children of Israel smote them, & Moses the seruaunt of the Lord, gaue their landes a possession, vnto the Rubenites, Gaddites, and halfe the tribe of Manasses. ⁷ These are the Kynges of the countrey, which Iosua and the chyldren of Israel smote on this syde Iordan, westwarde, from Baal, Gad in the valeye of Lybanon, euen vnto mount Halak, that goeth vp to Seir. And Iosua gaue the lande vnto the trybes of Israell to possesse, to euery man his parte, ⁸ in the vpper land, and nether lande, in playnes, and sprynges of water, in the wyldernesse, and south countrey, the Hethites, the Amorites, the Cananytes, the Pheresytes, the Heuytes, and the Iebusytes. ⁹ The Kynge of Iericho: The Kynge of Ai besyde Bethel, ¹⁰ The Kinge of Ierusalem, The Kynge of Hebron, ¹¹ The Kynge of Ierymoth, The Kynge of Lachys, ¹² The Kynge of Eglon, The Kynge of Gazer, ¹³ The Kyng of Dabir, The Kynge of Gader, ¹⁴ The Kyng of Horma, The Kynge of Ered, ¹⁵ The Kynge of Libna, The King of Odolam, ¹⁶ The Kinge of Makeda, The Kinge of Bethel, ¹⁷ The King of Thaphuah, The Kyng of Hepher, ¹⁸ The King of Aphek, The Kyng of Lasaron, ¹⁹ The Kyng of Madan, The Kyng of Hasor, ²⁰ The Kynge Someron, Meron, The Kinge of Acsaph,

⁴ and went a longe to Azmon, and it went out to the riuer of Egipt: so that the ende of that coaste is the sea. And these are their south coastes.

¹ And the seconde lot came out vnto the trybe of the chyldren of Simeon by their kynredes. And their enheritaunce felle in the myddes of the enheritaunce of the children of Iuda. ² And their enheritaunce was, Bersabe, Sabe, and Moladah, ³ Hazorsual, Balah, and Azem, ⁴ Eltholad Bethul and Hormah ⁵ Zikelag, Bethmarcoboth and Hazelsusah, ⁶ Bethlebaoth, and Saruhen, thertene cyties with their villages. ⁷ Aim, Remon, Ether, and Asan, foure cities with their villages: ⁸ & therto all the villages that lye rounde aboute these cities, euen vnto Balasath, Beor, & Ramath, southwarde. This is the enheritaunce of the tribe of the children of Simeon in their kynrede ⁹ oute of the portion of the chyldren of Iuda, came the enheritaunce of the children of Simeon. For the parte of the chyldren of Iuda, was to much for them, and therfore the children of Simeon had their enheritaunce in the enheritaunce of them. ¹⁰ And the thyrde lot came vnto the children of Zabulon, accordynge vnto theyr kynredes. And the coastes of their enheritaunce came to Saryd, ¹¹ and went vp to the Sea, and to Marialah, and touched at Dabaseth, and mette at the riuer that lyeth before Iokneuen, ¹² and turned from Sarid eastwarde, towarde the sunne rysyng vnto the border of Chisloth in mounte Thabor, and then goeth oute to Dabereth, and goeth vp to Iaphia, ¹³ and from thence goeth a longe eastwarde, towarde the sunne rysyng, to Sethah, Hepher, Ithah, and Iazim, and goeth to Remon, Methoar, and Neah. ¹⁴ And compasseth it on the northsyde, & goeth to Nathan, and endeth in the valeye of Iephthahel. ¹⁵ And Iatath, Nahalol, Semron, Iedalah, and Bethlehem, twelue cityes wyth their vyllages. ¹⁶ Thys is the enheritaunce of the chyldren of Zabulon, in their kynredes. The sayd cities with their villages. ¹⁷ And the fourthe lotte came out to the chyldren of Isacar by their kynredes. ¹⁸ And theyr coastes were Iesraelah, Casuloth, Sunem, ¹⁹ Hapharaim, Sion, Anaharath, ²⁰ Harabith, Kysion and Abez, ²¹ Rameth, Enganim, Enhadah, and Bethphazez. ²² And his coastes mette at Thabor Sahazimah and at Bethsames & endeth at Iordan, sixtene cytyes with their villages. ²³ This is the enheritaunce of the trybe of the chyldren of Isacar by theyr kynredes the cyties and their villages. ²⁴ And the fyfte lot came out vnto the trybe of the chyldren of Aser by their kynredes. ²⁵ And their coastes were Helkath, Hali, Beten, and Achsaph, ²⁶ Alamelech, Amaad & Miseal, and mette at Carmel on the sea, & at Syhor and at Labanath ²⁷ & turned towarde the sunne rysynge to Bethdagon, and mette at Zabulon and in the valeye of Iehthah, and toward the northsyde of Bethemek & Negel, & goeth oute on the lefte syde of Cabul, ²⁸ and Hebron, Rohob, Hamon, and Kanah euen vnto greate Sidon. ²⁹ And then the coast turneth to Ramah and to the stronge citie of Azor and turned to Hozah and endeth at the sea, by the possession of Achzibah: ³⁰ Amah, Aphek, and Rohob: Twentye and two cyties with their villages. ³¹ This is the enheritaunce of the trybe of the chyldren of Aser by theyr kinredes: These cities with their villages. ³² And the syxte lot came oute vnto the chyldren of Nephthali by their kinredes. ³³ And their coastes were from Heleph and from Elon in Zaananim, and Adami, Nekeb and Iabneel euen to Lakum, and go oute at Iordan. ³⁴ And then the coaste turned westward to Asanoth in mounte Thabor, and then goeth oute from thence to Hukokah and meteth wyth Zabulon on the southe syde, and wyth Aser on the west, and at Iuda vpon Iordan towarde the sunne rysynge. ³⁵ And their stronge cyties are Zidim, Ber, Hamath, Racath and Cenereth, ³⁶ Adamah, Hermah and Hazor: ³⁷ Kedes, Edrai, and Enhazor: ³⁸ Ieron, Magdelel: Horem, Bethanah and Bethsames .xix. cyties with theyr villages.

⁴ Iacob and Esau And I gaue vnto Esau mounte Seyr to possesse it. But Iacob and hys chyldren wente doune into Egypte. ⁵ Then I sent Moses and Aaron. And I plaged Egypte, after the maner as I dyd amonge them, ⁶ and after that I broughte you out, & I brought youre fathers out of Egypt And ye came vnto the sea: and the Egypcyans folowed after youre fathers wyth Charettes and horsmen, vnto the red sea. ⁷ And they cryed vnto the Lord. And he put darckenesse betwene you and the Egypcyans, and brought the sea vpon them, and couered them. And youre eyes haue sene what I haue done in Egypte. And ye dwelte in the wyldernesse a longe ceason.

¹⁷ For the Lorde oure God he it is that brought vs and our fathers out of the lande of Egypte, the house of bondage, and whiche dyd those myracles in oure syght, and preserued vs in all the waye we went and amonge all the nacyons whiche we came thorow.

¹⁰ And euen so all that generacyon were put vnto theyr fathers, & there arose another generacyon after them which nether knewe the Lord, nor yet the worckes which he dyd vnto Israel.

¹⁷ And he answered him, yf I haue found grace in thy syght, then shew me a sygne, that thou art the Lorde that talketh with me. ¹⁸ Depart not hence, vntil I come agayne vnto the & bryng myne offryng, & haue set it before the. And he sayde I wyll tarye vntyll thou come agayne. ¹⁹ And Gedeon went & made redy a kydde, & swetekakes of an Epha of flour & put the fleshe in a basket, & the broth in a pot & brought it oute vnto hym vnder the Ocke, & presented it. ²⁰ And the angell of God sayd vnto hym: take the fleshe and the swete kakes, & put them vpon thys rocke, & powre oute the broth. ³⁶ And Gedeon sayd vnto God: yf thou wilt saue Israel by my hande as thou haste sayde: ³⁷ Beholde I wyll put a flece of wolle in the threasshing place. And yf the dewe be on the flece onelye, and drye vpon al the earth beside then I shalbe sure that thou wilt saue Israell by my hande, as thou saydest. ³⁸ And it came so to passe. And he rose vp erlye on the morowe, and he thruste the flece together and wronge the dew thereout, and filled a boole of water. ³⁹ And Gedeon sayde vnto God: be not angrye with me that I speake once more, let me proue onelye once agayne with the flece. Let it be drye onelye vpon the flece, and dewe vpon al the ground about. ⁴⁰ And God dyd so that same nyght: so that it was drye vpon the flece only and on all the grounde aboute, dewe.

For I wyll forgeue theyr mysdedes, and wil neuer remembre theyr sinnes any more.

Then opened I my mouthe, & sayde vnto him, that stode before me: O my Lorde, my pointes are lowsed in the vision, and there is no more strength within me:

¹³ Go thou thy way now, till it be ended: take thy rest, and byde in thy lot, till the dayes haue an ende.

⁵ Then the aungell that talked wyth me, wente forth, & sayde vnto me: lyfte vp thyne eyes, & se, what this is that goeth forth. ⁶ And I sayde: what is it? He answered: this is a measure goinge oute. He sayde moreouer: Euen thus ate they (that dwel vpon the whole earth) to loke vpon. ⁷ And beholde, there was lyfte vp a talent of leade: and lo, a woman sat in the myddeste of the measure. ⁸ And he sayde: This is vngodlynesse. So he caste her into the middest of the measure, and threwe the lompe of leade vp into an whole. ⁹ Then lyft I vp myne eyes, and loked: & beholde, there came oute two wemen, & the wynd was in theyr wynges (for they had wynges lyke the wynges of a storke) & they lyfte vp the measure betwixt the earth & the heauen. ¹⁰ Then spake I to the aungell that talcked with me: whyther wyll these beare the measure? ¹¹ And he sayde vnto me: into the lande of Synear, to buylde them an house: which when it is prepared, the measure shalbe set there in his place.

²⁶ And he sayed vnto them: why are ye fearfull, O ye of lytle fayth? Then he arose, and rebuked the wyndes and the sea, and there folowed a great calme.

²⁸ And when he was come to the other syde, into the countre of the Gergesytes, there mete him two possessed of deuils, which came out of the graues, & were out of measure fearce, so that no man myght go by that way.

⁴ And as he sowed, some fel by the wayes syde, and the foules came and deuoured it vp.

Of them ye shal kyl and crucifye: and of them ye shall scourge in your synagoges, and persecute from citye to citye ³⁵ that vpon you may come all the ryghtuous bloude that was shede vpon the earth, from the bloude of ryghtuous Abel, vnto the bloude of Zacharias the sonne of Barachias, whom ye slewe betwene the tempel and the aulter.

⁵ The aungel aunswered & sayd to the women: feare ye not. I knowe that ye seke Iesus, whiche was crucifyed:

And after that assone as his father was dead he brought him into thys lande, in whiche ye now dwell, ⁵ and he gaue him none inheritaunce in it, no not the bredeth of a fote: but promised that he would geue it to hym to possesse, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no chylde. ⁶ God verely spake on this wyse that his sede should be a dweller in a straung land, & that they should kepe them in bondage & entreate them euyll .iiij.C. yeares. ⁷ But the nacion to whome they shalbe in bondage, will I iudge, sayed God. And after that shall they come forth and serue me in this place.

³ For what sayth the scripture? Abraham beleued God, and it was counted vnto hym for ryghteousnes. ⁴ To hym that worketh, is the rewarde not reckened of fauoure: but of dutye. ⁵ To hym that worketh not, but beleueth on hym that iustifyeth the vngodly, is hys fayth counted for ryghteousnes. ⁶ Euen as Dauid descrybeth the blessedfulnes of the man vnto whome God ascrybeth ryghteousnes withoute dedes.

⁹ Came thys blessednes then vpon the circumcysed or vpon the vncircumcysed? We say verelye how that fayth was rekened to Abraham for ryghtuousnes.

⁷ neither are they al chyldren strayght way, because they are the seede of Abraham. But in Isaac shall thy seede be called: ⁸ that is to saye, they whiche are the chyldren of the fleshe, are not the chyldren of God. But the chyldren of promise are counted the seede.

²² whether it be Paule, other Apollo, other Cephas: whether it be the world, other lyfe, other deathe, whether they be present thynges or thinges to come: all are youres,

For it is wrytten: cursed is euery man that contynueth not in all thynges, whiche are wrytten in the boke of the law, to fulfyll them. ¹¹ That no man is iustifyed by the lawe in the syght of God, is euydente. For the iuste shall lyue by fayth. ¹² The lawe is not of fayth: but the man that fulfylleth the thinges contayned in the lawe, shall lyue in them. ¹³ But Christ hath delyuered vs from the curse of the lawe, and was made accursed for vs. For it is wrytten: cursed is euery one that hangeth on tre, ¹⁴ that the blessyng of Abraham myghte come on the Gentyles thorowe Iesus Christ and that we myght receyue the promes of the spyryte thorow fayth. ¹⁵ Brethren I wyll speake after the maner of men. Thoughe it be but a mans testamente, yet no man despyseth it, or addeth any thyng there to when it is once alowed. ¹⁶ To Abraham and hys seede were the promyses made. He sayth not in the sedes as in manye: but in thy sede as in one, whiche is Christe. ¹⁷ Thys I saye, that the lawe which beganne afterward beyonde: .iiij.C. and .xxx. yeares doth not disanull the testament, that was confyrmed afore of God vnto Christe warde, to make the promes of none effecte.

Whiche hope also entreth in, into those thynges that are wythin the vayle,

³⁵ Caste not awaye therfore youre confidence whiche hath great reward to recompence. ³⁶ For ye haue nede of pacyence, that after ye haue done the wyll of God, ye myght receyue the promes.

⁸ Dearly beloued, be not ignoraunt of thys one thinge, howe that one daye is wyth the Lorde, as a thousande yeare, and a thousande yeare as one daye. ⁹ The Lord is not slacke to fulfyl hys promyse, as some men count slaknes, but is patient to vsward and would haue no man loste, but would receyue al men to repentaunce.

³ And I heard a great voyce out of heauen saying: beholde, the tabernacle of God is wt men, and he wyll dwell with them. And they shal be his people, & God hym selfe shalbe with them & be theyr God. ⁴ And god shal wipe away al teares from their eyes. And there shalbe no more death, neyther sorow neither criyng, neither shal there be any more paine, for the olde thinges are gone.
