⁹ Then yf thou callest, the Lorde shall answere the: yf thou cryest, he shall saye: here I am. Yea, yf thou layest awaie thy burthens, and holdest thy fingers, and ceasest from blasphemous talkinge,

¹⁸ And he went in to his father saying: my father. And he answered: here am I: who arte thou my sonne?

⁴ And the Lorde called Samuel: & he sayd: here am I, ⁵ & he ran vnto Eli, & said: here am I, for thou calledest me. And he sayde I called the not: go agayne, & slepe. And he went and layde hym doune to slepe. ⁶ And the Lord called once againe: Samuel, and Samuel arose & went to Eli, and sayd: I am here, thou dyddest call me. And he aunswered: I called the not my sonne. Go agayne & take thy rest: ⁷ but it was yer Samuel knewe the Lord, & yer the worde of the Lorde was opened vnto hym. ⁸ And the Lorde wente to & called Samuel the thyrde tyme. And he arose and wente to Eli, and sayde: I am here: for thou hast called me. Then Eli perceyued that the Lord had called the ladde.

² Euery man telleth lyes too his neyghbour, they do but flatter with their lyppes and dissemble in their herte.

¹⁵ For the eyes of the Lorde are ouer the righteous, and his eares are open vnto theyr prayers. ¹⁶ But the face of the Lorde beholdeth them that do euell, to destroye the remembraunce of them out of the earth. ¹⁷ When the righteous crye, the Lorde heareth them, & delyuereth them out of all theyr troubles.

⁴ Delyte thou in the Lorde, & he shall geue the thy hertes desire.

¹⁵ And call vpon me in the tyme of trouble, so wyll I heare the, that thou shalte thanke me.

¹⁸ If I enclyne vnto wyckednesse wyth my herte, the Lorde wyll not heare me. ¹⁹ Therfore God hath herde me, and consydred the voyce of my prayer.

¹⁵ When he calleth vpon me, I shall heare hym: yea, I am with hym in hys trouble, wherout I will deliuer him, and bring hym to honoure.

⁵ I called vpon the lord in trouble, and the lord heard me at large.

¹³ he wyncketh wyth hys eyes, he tokeneth wyth hys fete, he poynteth wyth his fingers,

¹⁵ Though ye holde oute your handes, yet turne I myne eyes from you. And though ye make manye prayers, yet heare I nothynge at all, for youre handes are full of bloude.

¹⁹ For thus (O thou people of Syon and ye citisens of Ierusalem) shall ye neuer be in heauynes, for doutlesse he wyll haue mercy vpon the. As sone as he heareth the voyce of thy crye, he wyl helpe the.

⁴ Wherin take ye your pleasure? Vpon whom gape ye with your mouth and bleare out your tonge? Are ye not children of aduoutry, and a sede of dissimulacion?

⁶ But this fastyng pleaseth not me, til the tyme be thou louse him out of bondage, that is in thy daunger: that thou breake the ooth of wicked barginnes, that thou let the oppressed go fre and take from them all maner of burthens.

³ For your handes are defiled with bloud and youre fyngers with vnryghteousnesse. Youre lippes speake lesinges, and your tong setteth oute wickednes. ⁴ Noman regardeth righteousnes, and noman iudged truely. Euery man hopeth in vayne thinges, and ymagyneth disceyte, conceyueth werynesse, and bringeth forth euyl.

¹³ Namely transgresse and dissemble agaynst the Lorde, and fall awaye from oure God: vsinge presumptuous and trayterous ymaginacions, and castynge false matters in oure hertes.

²⁴ And it shalbe, that or euer they call, I shall answere them. While they are yet but thinckinge howe to speake. I shal heare them.

¹² Ye shal crye vnto me, ye shall go & call vpon me, & I shall heare you. ¹³ Ye shall seke me & fynde me, Yea, yf so be that ye seke me with your whole herte,

⁸ Therfore, thus sayth the Lorde God: Because youre wordes be vayne, & ye seke oute lyes: Beholde, I wyll vpon you, saith the Lord

² For vayne is the answere of Idols. The sothsayers se lyes, & tel but vayn dreames: the comforthe that they geue, is nothinge worth. Therfore go they astraye lyke a flocke of shepe, & are troubled, because they haue no sheperde.

⁷ Axe and it shalbe geuen you. Seke and ye shall fynde. Knocke & it shalbe opened vnto you. ⁸ For whosoeuer axeth receyueth, and he that seketh fyndethe, and to hym that knocketh, it shalbe opened.

²¹ Beloued, yf our hertes condempne vs not, then haue we trust to Godward, ²² and whatsoeuer we are, we shall receiue of him, because we kepe his commaundementes, and do these thinges, which are pleasyng in hys sight.
